I recently had my gas boiler stop igniting and required service. I noticed this on a Sat afternoon. I am not a registered customer with this company, but I was given their name as a recommended service for my boiler. When I called and left a voice mail, I was promptly called back to sign up for a service dispatch. I was initially told "if we come tomorrow, Sunday, there is a $400 service fee, just for showing up". I thought that was a bit much, seeing I was probably going to be spending at least that much for my repairs. I asked for the week day and would stick out the cold Sunday, as to not incur a weeks salary for the "emergency fee". While I was waiting, I went up online, youtube, etc.. and diagnosed my boiler issue as a bad pilot assembly, thermo couple. I had everything I needed to back up this diagnosis. When the tech arrived, he agreed with my assessment, and started to look there. He did not have the part in his vehicle and had to drive to F.W. Webb to get the parts. He arrived back after an hour or so, and had the replacement part. He went on to get the boiler going, so my diagnosis and hypothesis were correct. When I got the invoice, I saw that I was billed $273 for a $45 part. When I called the company to speak to the dispatcher about the invoice I asked if this was a mistake, and she said "I'll check with the service manager" put me on hold for 10 seconds tops, came back and said "yes that is the correct price". I said "even if FW webb says its a $45 part?", and she said "yes that is what we charge". I was taken back a bit, being in the service trade. I know there is a markup fee, but this was like 500% markup. The technician was helpful and friendly, and they did fix my boiler when I was in dire straights. But then to be gouged on the parts, that is something I could not understand. I was going to get a quote on replacement, and sign up for service, but the gouging of the part, and the "yup, that's what we charge" did not sit well, so I will take my business elsewhere... Cautionary tale, get some pricing up front from this company... its a shame too. read more

Called them on Easter Sunday because we had a light that wouldn't turn off. They answered. Already a good sign. Got a call back the following day, scheduled an appointment for Wednesday -- they were already booked solid for Tuesday due to the crazy wind in the area. Steve came out Wednesday morning, arrived on time, diagnosed the issue, took the time to explain the issue to us, made a number of fixes, and was done in under two hours. Fast, friendly, professional service. Think we've just found our new go-to electricians. read more

Horrible!!!! The worst customer service I've ever experienced do not trust them they're a total scam. They told me twice my HVAC was under warranty and that I was all set. They now are trying to charge me almost 4,000 dollars for control panels when the whole unit outside to replace is only 3,665.00. I called Mitsubishi directly and they told me YES my panels were covered under warranty. That means Cotti is lying, scamming and double dipping on their own customers! Do not trust them they're crooks. They won't even get back to you they do the run around saying someone is on vacation then when you call again 5 minutes later that person is now on another call goes to show you they can't keep their lies straight. We got off to a rocky start when we recently purchased a Travis Industries Large Flush Wood Hybrid-Fyre insert from Energy Unlimited in Wayland. After purchasing the insert, it took a couple of months to figure out when the unit would arrive and be installed. The Sales Reps in the store had trouble getting us updated information. It was very frustrating at first. However, once we got in touch with the owner, Adam Boccalini, things got a whole lot better. Adam was fantastic; both responsive and communicative. It turned out that they had been swamped with orders this past winter and once we knew what was happening, we were fine to wait. Adam stayed in touch with us throughout the process and let us know where things were at. On the install day, Adam showed up with his team and they worked diligently outside in the cold and many feet of snow that fell over the winter of '14. The team were all friendly and professional. They even came back a couple of times to fix up some of the details so that we were completely happy. At the same time, they answered all our questions about how to best operate the insert and how to keep it clean. We are super thrilled with our new fireplace insert. It has saved us money on oil, and heats up the house much warmer than the oil heating ever did! We wouldn't hesitate in recommending Adam and his team. read more

Had company come out 5 times a couple months ago to figure out an issue with my fairly new furnace. That was about $500. Two months goes by furnace having similar issue. Have a Tech come out and they figure out one of the parts that they installed two months prior was faulty and that they could replace the part under waranty but the labor isn't under warranty. So now i have to pay twice in two months for the same part. So now its another $300. Company is a rip off. Also the part wasn't in the supply house so they told me it would be in , in two days and i waited 3 days and finally called them because i didn't hear a peep. Now they tell me another week for the part. Middle of winter and my furnace isn't properly working. We had a signed contract for yearly service and they still wanted to charge us as we didn't have any type of contract. Will definitely be finding another company for future furnace repairs. read more

On 12-13-18 we purchased a gas insert fireplace, burner with logs, shadowbox, panel and lining kit from Middlesex Cooling, DBA Energy Unlimited. We were told that it would be installed on 1-28-2019. We paid in full $4264.88 to the company. Late December we had a tech come to the residence to confirm measurements and look at the existing fireplace area that was going to be installed. Nothing was stated that the area was hard to work in or that a piece would have to ordered. 1-25-19 there was a phone call we received from the company that stated that the tech would again be back to complete the installation on 1-28-19. The tech arrived that day and told us that a piece needed was not in and they would install what they could until it came in. The fireplace was not workable at the time. I was told they would call me the following day with more information. 1-26-19 no phone call received from the company. At 3pm I called and they asked me to pay $1000 towards the partial installation fee, which I did. They said they would call me again the next day with more information about the finish of the installation. On 2-1-19 I hadn't heard back from the company so I called and they said that they were sending a tech on 2-4-19 to install the rest of the fireplace. They said they would call the morning of to confirm a time. 2-4-19 3pm we called and they stated that they don't have a time for the installation and would be "later in the week." We currently have a gaping hole and a non working fireplace and have paid $5264.88. read more

I've spent thousands there: two woodstoves and several other things such as inserts and accessories. But when I go in and ask for a part, or for some help, I get treated rudely or not at all. Trying to buy some stove gasket and cement turned into some kind of penal exercise. They are the only dealer in town for Lopi and other makes, and they know it. And companies such as Travis Industries will only sell through the dealers, so if you need a part, you have to go back to them. The only reason they don't get two stars is because I am liberal minded and believe that things can improve. Owners: you do not run the No Name Restaurant. read more

Stopped in to this fireplace store, hoping they can help me find the right fireplace for my home. Salerep was on the phone and finally acknowledged me after about 5 minutes of being in the store (very tiny store). Saw a fireplace that may work, he gave me some information on it. The moment of truth came when I asked for the price, he went into the office, did some numbers, etc... and came back with a price. This usually would have been appreciated, if not for the fact that there are signs with prices on them on top of each fireplace that they showcase. The quoted price was a few hundreds higher than the "advertised" price on their price display. When caught, the sale rep went with "Oh, that price is for the floor model". Although the sign clearly did NOT indicate the price as a sale or a floor model price. I couldn't get out of the store fast enough. Why is shopping for a fireplace like shopping at a car dealership? I called Cotti-Johnson to fix my water heater. The gentleman was here for 20 minutes and literally did nothing more than press a single button. When I received my bill it was $270 and already 30-60 days overdue. I called and asked why the bill overdue given it was the first bill I'd received and also, why it was so much. The response was I'd received a bill via email or text (can't remember which) but received nothing of the sort. Second they indicated they'd have someone call me back regarding the cost--no one did. I called them no fewer than 3 more times in 30 day period to get someone to explain the bill. I told them I was concerned about the bill becoming 60-90 days overdue unless I received an explanation. The last time I called was last Friday and was told someone would get back to me (again). On Saturday I received another bill that was now 60-90 days overdue. I will NEVER use these people again, and for anyone who does it's "buyer beware". If I could I'd give them zero stars, but one star was minimum to post this review. read more

Cotti-Johnson had a promotion through Costco and we signed up for an assessment and estimate for central AC. Our's is an old house with radiators and forced hot water heating and, therefore, might present a complicated job. This was explained to the tech who assured us that Cotti-Johnson was capable of helping us. At our assessment the technician seemed very professional and knowledgeable. We all spent anywhere from 1- 2 hours going over our house and were promised an estimate the next day....that was the last we heard from him or Cotti-Johnson, even after numerous phone calls to them from us . Here's what we expected from a reputable company after spending 2 hours with a tech: a CALL BACK! If you can't do the job, that's okay, but perhaps you can explain why. read more

Our experience with Energy Unlimited is similar to Giselle's, in that the sales person not only did not acknowledge our presence in the Wayland store when visited, but would not return our call for questions to purchase a fireplace insert. We contacted the owner, Adam Boccalini, and he promptly assured us that he would personally come out to take measurements and assist us. He came to our house and was very professional and upset that his staff would neglect customers. We order our product and it took a few months to be delivered and installed. However, the owner was very professional and waived the installation fees for the delays caused by the product delivery. They installed it and when the fireplace insert did not fit to our liking, the owner order and installed a modified face to give us the look we wanted. He did not charge us for this added part. Our fireplace insert works nicely and we love it. We highly recommend this company, and if you have issues or concerns, reach out to the owner, he is very nice and professional. read more

Over the years we have purchased a Lopi Answer stove and many accessories from these guys. They even recommended a great installation guy who we have used several times as we moved and took our stove with us. My in-laws just purchased a wood stove from Energy Unlimited, had some problems (user related) which were cleared up by a few informational visits to the store. Company inspected the work and promised an estimate, but never delivered despite numerous promises.

I had a gas fireplace installed in my house by Energy Unlimited which they finished up about a week ago. First off, just want to say I LOVE the fireplace, the surround, the whole thing. It looks gorgeous!! Second, this project was not a simple installation for a variety of reasons, and in the end it worked out EXACTLY as I wanted it. Specifically, there was no existing fireplace to start but I wanted it to look as real as possible, which is not easy to do. Also, venting through an existing chimney is apparently really tough and many other companies refused to even try doing it due to the potential complications. Additionally, the unit I really wanted was very large for the room size and my floors are very uneven. So, there were, in fact, a lot of complications along the way. I also threw in some complications, myself. For example, when the hearth arrived, it was not honed granite as I expected so I had the company that delivered it (not Adams company) pick it up and get it honed which held up the process. Also, I asked Adam if I could have the electrician, Ken, put in the necessary outlets so that I could hang the tv over the fireplace. This was extra work that I had not discussed with Adam ahead of time but he very graciously added that to the list of things to do. He even offered to have his guys hang the tv up before the job was done! All the complications stressed me out as I was worried about how these would affect the price. But, happily, Adam kept to the original price he quoted me which I know was way under what he should have charged given the complications! In summary, my experience with Energy Unlimited has been excellent. Every member of Adam's team were professional, friendly, and extremely helpful!! I especially want to thank:the carpenter, Eric for the beautiful mantel and the design; Ken for the extra work for the tv (and the lights he installed for me as a separate job), and Buddy for keeping the process going. It's difficult to understand how these people can stay in business with such a low level of care for customers, after-sale support, true description of product capability and general honesty in business dealings. Maybe that good and bad days (or months), but my experience, and that of several others who I talked to, has been just awful. Stoves cost too much to take that much abuse from a store. read more

After reading all the bad reviews about Energy Unlimited (EU), I should have listened. I'm giving the store one star because I couldn't write this w/o a rating. When hunting for a woodburning stove insert, I learned of one that was a special order. I went to EU to place the order. EU said it would not order the stove until its installer (JACK of CHIM-CHIMNEY) came over to make sure it was right for our needs. After many calls and several weeks of pestering EU, the installer finally came over. He said he was interested in working on the installation and would get us pricing. To make a long story short, Jack NEVER got us pricing and NEVER returned any of our calls. I kept going to EU and complaining about Jack's lack of responsiveness, but to no avail. Finally, in utter frustration, I hired my own installer and EU agreed to place the order. When I learned of the outrageous price EU was going to charge me, I contacted the manufacturer's distributor directly. The distributor was delightful to deal with, and we saved lots of money. read more

Sadly, my experience with this firm was the worst customer experience I have ever had. I was sold a floor model of a discontinued Rais Gabo Gas stove, admittedly at a nominal discount, but was mislead to believe that EU was still a distributor of Rais stoves and that they had experience with a propane installation. Adam had to call in the previous owner of the EU biz to get it operative last Oct., having bought and installed it in April, 2015. Since it's in a summer cottage, it was off until May, 2016, at which point the thermocouple overheated and warped, needing to be replaced under a 2 year warranty Adam gave me. Fine, but since May, I have not been able to get them out to install the thermocouple and honor the warranty and I have a series of emails for the past year+, that would embarrass any business owner who knows how to deal with customers reasonably. I'm done, called the mfg rep, learned EU was not even a Rais distributor, probably just wanted to dump the floor model, and hired another service group who knows the stove. 15 months later, it's working correctly. If you are doing anything other than the standard natural gas or wood stove install on stoves they sell frequently, do not use these guys unless you want an ulcer. Very very sad. PON read more

I worked with Adam and his team recently for an install of our gas fireplace insert. We had an old wood burning fireplace that created more draft than warmth, and we knew we needed to get a more efficient gas insert. We did look at a few places, but discovered Energy Unlimited. What brought me into their door was a referral from another consultant that gave us a quote, and told us to check them out. However, once I was in the store, I knew I wanted to work with Energy Unlimited directly. One of the things I liked right off the bat was that they had financing. However, what sold me, was the pleasure of working with the owner Adam Boccalini. Adam truly is a person where the customer always comes first, and he goes above and beyond to ensure that you are happy, and never makes you feel like a pest. His team was very knowledgeable and worked efficiently. We had to have our thermostat relocated so that it wouldn't be in close proximity to the fireplace, and they did an excellent job with very minimal repair needed to the wall (in fact the only repair needed was to patch up the wall where the original thermostat was). The gas fireplace install went smoothly, and it is beautiful, and works flawlessly. I really can't say enough about Adam and his team. read more

We just bought our fireplace from John at Energy Unlimited. We chose them because they were the local reps for Travis Industries whom after much research, we feel makes the best gas fireplaces. From the first call, John was so helpful. He spent hours answering all of our many questions and working to find us just the the unit that filled all of our needs. He provided us with great customer service and wonderful ideas about hearths, design, and the great idea of venting into our bedroom from the family room to benefit from the heat the fireplace puts off. We shopped around and his prices were the best and because he really knew his product, we felt happy to give him our business. We couldn't be happier! Energy Unlimited was not the first fireplace store we shopped at, but it was definitely the most helpful. First of all, Buddy came to our house to do all our measuring so we didn't have to rely on our own measurements. Adam was great in helping us decide what to buy. No high pressure, just very professional and helpful. The fireplace we bought is gorgeous (fireplacextrordinaire 34DVL)), just like a real fire, even with embers. And it heats our room better than a real fire. And Buddy was amazing!!! He is a jack of all trades, can do the electrical, plumbing and installation. Best of all he is so adept at improvising and adapting that he didn't quit until the job was perfect. I would highly recommend this store!!! read more

Horrible Customer Service!!! They sell good products but if something goes wrong you are looking at MONTHS before you get a response!!!! After multiple emails, calls, all you get is excuses and no answers! If they finally fix your problem they won't even apologize for the huge delay! I would not use them ever again for a purchase, however they are the only local dealer for Lopi products and usually you have no choice when it comes to parts! read more

Adam and his team were great. When we started looking into a gas insert for our existing wood burning fireplace we realized we were looking at finding not only an insert, but a plumber, electrician and propane provided (we have oil heat). We felt a bit overwhelmed as we began getting quotes, and conflicting timelines from different providers. Then we found Energy Unlimited. We didn't actually go to the store, as we already had a good idea what we wanted, but they were great on the phone taking our information and making sure we got contacted to set up the quote. Adam and his crew were able to do everything - propane tank, plumbing, electric, insert and permitting. That was HUGE for us and led to a seamless and painless experience! Adam came to take a look and was really responsive to our wishes for maximum viewing area and the look we wanted it to have. He was able to suggest a unit that was exactly what we were looking for AND make it work in our existing space. He and his team were always responsive over email and drove up in a blizzard to make sure the inspections got done! We have been enjoying our new fireplace every day since! The quote was right on the money, the only added expense was the propane they filled up the tank with! I would recommend Adam and Energy Unlimited to anyone. read more
