Headed to first tee and was concerned about how the course management was going to be. Bare tee boxes surrounded by overgrown tiffs of grass in the fairways. The greens were the worst I've played for poiana covered greens. Dead. We understand if there have been irrigation issues but this is just poor management. Pro shop could have been nicer giving a little heads up or offered discounts due to conditions. The layout is fun and it has a ton of potential.

Nice rural country club. Lots of water and ice on the course which is helpful as the temps approach a hunskie. It is a good way to break up the trip from San Antonio to Dallas since the club is less than a mile from IH 35. Bonus was the course wasn't crowded and we made it around in under 3 hours.

First thing I noted was the complete lack of ample parking. Had to park my brand new car in an un-level grass ditch. (no other option once the parking fills up) They had numbers ahead of time so, they clearly new parking would be an issue. It wasn't like there wasn't enough parking for 10-20 cars, but more like 50+. To make it worse there was no lip, so you had no choice but to drive up onto the curb. They were ushering us onto the grass so it was clearly normal. Where to begin? We were told what a great deal they got with half-priced drinks. $7 a bottle for the cheapest beer. I think not. The food was cold, not a little, but really cold and none of it was remotely appetizing. I always finish my food, not this time. Asked for water because I didn't want to pay the theme park prices, I was given warm water. Now it wasn't just warm, it tasted absolutely horrible-- could not believe it. I was quite certain they put a bittering agent in it (not sure if this is legal but I hope not). Frustrated, and unwilling to pay the prices for drinks, I went in search of a water fountain or soda machine, assuming a country club must have one. I went to a little gym area they had that was immaculately clean, smelling fresh, and they have a great big tank of water complete with lemon and such. It tasted absolutely great. I am thoroughly convinced they put a bittering agent in the water and just served up awful food. The venue should be embarrassed of the level of the service they give. I always tell individuals planning events to steer clear! Is it a good country club? Heck, it looks nice, but don't put your wedding or other event here unless you want BYOW (bring your own water!!)

They are pretty fast and challenging as well. The whole course is based of three 9-hole courses. So you can play a full 18 or just 9. The staff here are very welcoming, and for being a Hispanic I was well amazed at how they treated me like a customer and didn't shown any signs like I didn't belong there. My buddy Lu and I are Army veterans, we were also amazed how they celebrated and honored Veterans Day with the US Flag on every hole. My only complaint is maneuvering around to the course to find your way back to the main building or the next hole on courses 2 and 3. Overall, I was happy and satisfied. I will be coming back at least once a month if I can.

When I asked one of them about it they said that they don't really have tee times at this course. People just tee off whenever they want. Well, that led to issues for us. I had my wife and two small children with me to enjoy golf. Because people just tee off whenever they want I ended up letting multiple groups play through. In the green of hole 5 another group was catching us. The guy came up and was super rude about it. I explained to him I had let multiple people play through and that we were actually ahead of pace for any other golf course I had been on. Long story short, the course is really ghetto and poorly managed. People have no "golf" etiquette. I would NOT recommend this course, and I imagine that's how the local players like it. They can have it.

The fairways are all mowed to the ground, even the rough. Balls would not stay in the fairway even playing the higher elevation side. Weeds next to fairways. Grass was mowed but clippings were so deep it looked like they were ready to make hay. Carts are old and slow. Lots of weeds all around the ponds. Tee boxes had bare spots more than grass. Layout is very strange. Blind shots over trees and weeds at tee boxes on two holes. Big trees dead center on three fairways. Please explain this. Bottom line the course is managed on a government contract and they are milking the contract. Our service people deserve better. When I visit again I will go to Stonetree instead. The government employee in the military overseeing this contract needs to visit this place and see the contract abuse. I have seen 2 other base courses and both were well managed and were excellent. Not this one.

Attendants kept coming to us telling us to let people pass when we were already doing that! Then they had the audacity to tell us we needed to skip holes. We paid for 18 holes just like everyone else so unless you're going to give money back you should not harass your guests! we will never go back! We have played a lot of golf at many different places and were never treated the way we were there. Horrible place!! We should have been rude right back and demanded our money back and left. We even ate there and gave them more of our money that they didn't deserve! At least the kitchen staff was friendly, the golf attendants could take a lesson from them!
