Nice rural country club. Lots of water and ice on the course which is helpful as the temps approach a hunskie. It is a good way to break up the trip from San Antonio to Dallas since the club is less than a mile from IH 35. Bonus was the course wasn't crowded and we made it around in under 3 hours.

They were ushering us onto the grass so it was clearly normal. Where to begin? We were told what a great deal they got with half-priced drinks. $7 a bottle for the cheapest beer. I think not. The food was cold, not a little, but really cold and none of it was remotely appetizing. I always finish my food, not this time. Asked for water because I didn't want to pay the theme park prices, I was given warm water. Now it wasn't just warm, it tasted absolutely horrible-- could not believe it. I was quite certain they put a bittering agent in it (not sure if this is legal but I hope not). Frustrated, and unwilling to pay the prices for drinks, I went in search of a water fountain or soda machine, assuming a country club must have one. I went to a little gym area they had that was immaculately clean, smelling fresh, and they have a great big tank of water complete with lemon and such. It tasted absolutely great. I am thoroughly convinced they put a bittering agent in the water and just served up awful food. The venue should be embarrassed of the level of the service they give. I always tell individuals planning events to steer clear! Is it a good country club? Heck, it looks nice, but don't put your wedding or other event here unless you want BYOW (bring your own water!!)

So I wanted to make sure we made a stop here while we were in Austin as it seemed essential for having a good city experience here. Barton Springs is open every day but Thursdays so plan accordingly for that. I am told it's a day where they clean the pool. It took a little bit of navigating to get to the pool as we had to plan to come here on a hot day as opposed to a rainy day which we were encountering here on our trip but it worked out fine. We landed on a warm day and got pool time. And Barton Springs is perfect to come to on a hot day. The temperature is between 68-70 degrees which makes it great swimming all year round here. The bottom of the pool has plant life and it's not all concrete and polished at the bottom so be aware of that... it's definitely has a natural look. There are also signs not to touch the rocks at the bottom as it is the home to some rare amphibians I believe. But aside from that as long as you follow the signs you're good. The water is extremely refreshing and invigorating and even after leaving the pool and you are on your way you still feel for a while thise sensations which added more to the impressive experience we had here. Parking fees and entrance fees to the pool are reasonable. It's $5 if you are a resident and $9 if you aren't. I highly, highly recommend making a stop at Barton Springs if you are in Austin... it definitely helps complete the city experience here.

The water is clear, refreshing, and shockingly consistent year‑round. It's the kind of cold that first feels like punishment and then suddenly feels like therapy. The crowd is a mix of locals who swim laps like it's their religion, families trying to convince their kids the water isn't that cold, and visitors who clearly didn't know what they were signing up for. Logistics-wise, it's Austin, so parking can be a mild adventure depending on when you go. The grassy areas fill up fast, and you'll definitely see at least one person sunbathing in a spot that makes you wonder how they got there. But the place is clean, well‑maintained, and big enough that you can usually find your own little corner of summer. If you're expecting a warm, lazy pool float afternoon, this isn't it. If you want a classic Austin experience that shocks you awake and then chills you out, Barton Springs delivers every time.

The layout is split between a young children splash pad area and a full size pool that is split into multiple sections. I was incredibly impressed by everything they have to offer. The splash section has a slide and plenty of shade for the kids. The big pool has a walk in section that gradually gets deeper as you get in. To top it off, the have the diving boards to get out all your high flying energy. We will definitely be back all summer long.

They have a high dive and a low dive that dips into 12 Ft pool. They have 2 swim lanes, they can be shared. I do think they have certain hours where it is open swim, adult swim, etc. Check online before going to make sure you will be able to swim. They have a lot of picnic tables and chairs to lay your stuff at while you swim. They have a small kids play water park with slides and a bucket that dumps water. It looked like fun but since I didn't have a kid with me, I didn't venture to that side. Overall, this pool is great and I would come again!
