Great dog park! Having just moved to Carrollton, we were in search of a dog park. Tried another…read moreone first, but once we came here, that was it. There are three section-small dog, large dog & water. Be aware though-the small dog area gets a little swampy too when it rains a lot. All three sections are quite large and grassy (not muddy). There are plenty of poop bag stations, trash cans, water fountains and shady areas. The other pets and pet parents have always been wonderful and friendly. We have been to quite a few dog parks in the DFW area since moving here, and this is my favorite by far (and the dogs love it too). Note: To get to the dog park area, turn where the Carrollton Animal Shelter is-the dog park section is on the right just past the shelter.

Apparently people have flocked from there to come to McInnish Park and I'm sad to say, I'm one of those people. McInnish Park doesn't come up right away in searches when you're looking for dog parks so that's why it's a hidden gem. They have a good amount of parking and the standard separate sections for big and small dogs. But wait for.....there's a THIRD section.....ohhhh....ahhhhh.....ohhhhh! The third section is welcome to all pups and features a pond/lake/watering hole for your dogs to swim and play in! I have a six month old pup and while he's been in the water before, really had no idea that he would jump right in. Wrong I was. He could not get enough of the water and sadly I had to pay for it later while attempting to clean him off. The space is nice and heavily shaded so perfect for day time. You have your standard crazy dog people who like to camp out in the small dog section with camping chairs, coolers and cliques so be aware of that. Personally, I would rather socialize with the four legged friends.

Finding this spot was a bit of a treasure hunt thanks to Yelp's directions, but once you check the…read moremap, it's easy to spot--tucked behind some softball fields. We always bring a bag to pick up trash on walks, but there wasn't much litter here (bonus points!). It's mostly shaded, uncrowded, and has a few rolling brooks to enjoy along the way. Not too hilly, just a perfect, peaceful spot for an hour or two of strolling. And parking? A breeze!

There was a lot of chairs and tables and the trails were maintained nicely. Management Paints over some stubs in red so you do not trip. Come during November and December its Pretty!

It's been three years since I've been to this park! But in my defense, I don't live in Euless…read moreanymore. Today we were in town and had a few minute to spare for outdoor time, so we stopped by! This park is so beautiful, we love walking to the pier and watching the tadpoles and fish swimming around. There's a long walking trail which we didn't get to walk all the way down today but we will have to make time for it. You can't go wrong no matter who he path you take, you will find picturesque scenes everywhere. In fact, there was a photo shoot taking place today while we were there. Relaxing pre-lunch outing, I'm sure we will be back again.

This is a beautiful park, in many ways far superior to the more popular Bob Eden park. The trails…read morefrom McCormick Park connect to those at Bob Eden (and Bear Creek) but this stretch of the trail is shadier and much more lush in foliage. It's a perfect walk for a hot summer morning. The park also boasts a pond with fishing pier and a very sweet little bird watching area, a nice gazebo, and a small (but fun) playground. The playground is FULLY SHADED by the mature trees surrounding it. The only negatives to McCormick park, so far as I can tell, are the absence of both a bathroom and clear trail maps. There is one map that gives an overview of how the main trail connects to the different parks, but I think there ought to be a more detailed trail map at every fork in the trail. And not having bathrooms is a serious drawback for people with kids. I pushed my luck too long this morning and my 2 year old peed her pants. Parks need bathrooms!

There are some awesome slides, including this one metal one with teo bars that the kids put their arms over and slide down on. Another one is a tube slide. There's a sidewalk that goes all the way around the playground that's good for bikes and trikes, and lots of green area to play. Also 2 basketball courts. Definitely a nice park.

A hidden getaway from the city, Lago de Claire is a 1.3 mile loop with spectacular views of the sunrise and sunset. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars Atmosphere - La Villita is a Spanish themed mixed-use neighborhood. There are apartments, town homes, parks, and single family homes. Right in the middle is Lago de Claire. On a cool, weekday evening or weekend morning, the lake is full of people and energy. You'll find families, runners, walkers, and people of all cultures. 1 Star. Service - The only service here is cell phone service, and it's good. 1 Star. Lake - I love walking around the lake every day. There's a gazebo on the north end of the lake, which is a great gathering/resting spot, and it overlooks the lake. On the east end are the canals, and you'll find several ducks or birds depending on the season. There's also a small square with two dancing statues. This is a very popular space for gathering and is especially busy in the evenings. I love walking around Lago de Claire at different times of days and take photos of the sunrise, sunset, and lake itself. Bonus - if you play Pokémon Go there is a gym here. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I walk around the lake everyday depending on the time. It's the best part of this hidden neighborhood and a great place to visit. 1 Star.

Campion Trails is a walking/biking trail that runs parallel to the Trinity River in Irving. It…read morestretches from Las Colinas all the way to Valley Ranch. For this review, I'm going to highlight all the areas where you can park and enter the trail. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Trail, Return) Atmosphere - The trail is a wonderful, well shaded path which is populated with a good mix of cyclists, runners, roller bladers, and even families. It's one of my favorite places in the city, because it takes you away from the concrete jungle and into a lush, green, natural hideaway. 2 Stars. Trail - Here are the trail entrances where you can park your car and enter into Campion Trails starting from North to South. Sam Houston Trail Park - 101 I-635, Irving, TX 75038. This entrance is at 161 and Valley View. It's a good location if you want to start north and go down. Also, it has the only outhouse (that I know of). I've never used it but just know it's there. TW Richardson Grove - 101 Lyndon B Johnson Fwy, Irving, TX 75063. Right off the exit for George Bush Hwy off I635, this area has a covered patio that's perfect for gatherings for picnics and cookouts. La Vallita Park - 1 Camino Rio, Irving, TX 75039. This park is in the La Villita neighborhood. It was two playgrounds for kids, lots of shade from trees, and a covered patio. Rio Vista Park - 2 Barcelona, Irving, TX 75039. Also located in La Villita. This park has a basketball court, playground, and a covered patio with grills. There are no parking lots, but you can park along Barcelona, Campion Trails Park - 5950 Riverside Dr, Irving, TX 75039. This parking lot is next to the Irving Police Station. Needless to say, it's safe to park your car here. Birds Fort Trail Park - 5756 Riverside Dr, Irving, TX 75039. This is the BEST entrance to Campion Trails. Not only is there plenty of parking, but there are several covered patios, and it overlooks the Trinity River. Paws Colinas Dog Park - 1300 California Crossing Rd, Irving, TX 75039. This is a great dog park. It's really not a place to park and enter Campion Trail, just know it connects. California Crossing Park - 5198 Riverside Dr, Irving, TX 75039. This is the end (or beginning) of Campion Trails. Start here if you want to start biking north towards Valley Ranch/Coppell. Let's go! 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I live in La Villita so my entry way is through the two parks. I hope that after reading this review, you'll be inspired to check out one of my favorite trails in all of DFW. 1 Star.
