LOST MY BUSINESS. Cottonwood changed its daycare policy on August 15 to no longer let dog owners reserve dog playtime ("daycare") for overnight boarded dogs (previously was 4 hours complimentary as a "social guest"). I booked my dog on July 23 for this program. I drop her off for Labor Day weekend and boom, my poor dog is not allowed to have any playtime because it's "full" (was there at 8 am...) and is now first come, first serve DESPITE ME BOOKING IT FOR HER before the policy change. I received no phone call about the change, the website hasn't been updated, nothing. This place is counting on you to just accept that you will now have to pay them more to exercise your dog or even to just allow them out of their kennel ON TOP of already paying $53 a night as the CHEAPEST OPTION. Don't do it guys. If you're going to pay for a "pet resort" to lock up your dog all day unless you pay more on top for a "nature hike", there are much cheaper places around Omaha. Don't get scammed by these greedy owners. If it's a volume issue, limit reservations or hire more staff. At a bare minimum, CALL YOUR CLIENTS about any major changes. Greed greed greed. We have used Cottonwood for years and been happy in the past, however, recently boarded our puppy and were disappointed with the communication. While we were gone, we noticed our puppy was not out in the yard and called, and were told if daycare is too full that dogs are rotated for the free "included" time out, so she was not going out that day. I ended up paying extra mid-trip to guarantee her spots so she could go out daily in addition to the extra walks I had already added. I called prior to dropping her off and discussed on check in and was not told that this was the policy and was told she would be out half day on the days that I didn't pay extra for full day. When I picked her up, I asked for a discussion with the manager and was told I would be called. This didn't happen and I called to speak with manager and was very disappointed with the rudeness and poor professionalism that was displayed. We have had such great experiences in the past 4 years that we have used Cottonwood and will not be going back after this experience. It seems they are taking in more dogs than they have staff to handle, so the boarding/daycare isn't as it once was. Very disappointed. read more

I recently used cottonwood while taking a family vacation. My dog had been kenneled before, but not longer for a night. I was nervous leaving her, but heard great things about cottonwood. Consistent with many reviews, they were nice at drop off and appeared to love my dog. I felt good when we left. I called a couple of times while on vacation to check on her, and was told she was doing well. She was eating and okay, but tried to jump the fence when put with other dogs. They stated that she nipped at a worker, which she has never done. Lola is nervous around other dogs and I asked specifically that she be put with smaller dogs, as she does better around them. I have taken her to dog parks and other daycares without issue as long as she is around smaller dogs. They didn't want to continue to put her with the other dogs, but I asked they keep trying even if it was only for a couple of minutes a day, and they seemed that they would rather not try. They claimed they did, but my dog doesn't talk so who knows? After a second call it was confirmed she was still eating fine, and solid stools. We decided to come home a day early just for her. I was told she bit another worker during her exit grooming. Again, never had an issue with biting. When they brought out her out, her harness was put on incorrectly. In her bag, I found all of her brand new toys I bought to keep her busy untouched. Still brand new. Only about 1/4th of her bag of dog food was gone. I had provided exactly the amount of cups of food she needed to make it through the 5 days. The food should have been mostly gone. When I grabbed her collar to get her in the car (harness was put on wrong), her collar easily slipped off-suggesting a noticeable weight loss. Remember, I called twice and "she was eating fine." I paid for an extra walk and playtime which consisted of a 15 min walk and 15 min of playtime. My poor girl was isolated in this kennel without food, toys, or any interaction for 5 days other than 30 min of private attention. Makes me sick to think about what she went through. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and am surprised I heard so many good things about it. I love my dog and she is part of my family. I feel I failed her by leaving her here. Dogs never get what we pay for often times our treats food and toys come back untouched. If you pay for an extra service more than likely they are not getting it. Watched a child slapping and hitting the front of a dog kennel. I was informed it was a member of staff and she was not a child. Every single member of staff lied to us about how well our dog did here. Our pup came back and weighed 8lbs less and was terrified of everything! I have two dogs, one is 1 yr old and the other is 6. They stayed in a cabana together. This was our first time going there and it was a Friday through Monday stay. We were feeling very comfortable leaving them in their care when we left and impressed with the services they offered. I liked their facility and thought my dogs would be in good hands and would actually have a good time there. Four hours of daycare was included in the overnight price. I liked the idea that our dogs would get to be out of the room and get to run and play. I was also excited that they have cameras so I could see my dogs. We left feeling pretty good that our dogs were going to be in a good situation and may even enjoy being there. I had the camera feed on my phone the entire time I was gone and frequently looked for my dogs and not one time saw them out with the other dogs. I called at the end of the day on the first day to see how they were doing. I was told there was nothing negative on their kennel card. They did not go to daycare in order to get them acclimated. Made sense. However, they were not in daycare on day two or three. I was checking the cameras, my son was checking and also my daughter was checking. We all wanted to see them. None of us ever saw them. I picked them up on Monday morning and asked why they never went to daycare? Was there a problem with them? I was told that they tried once and one of my dogs wanted no part of it. I didn't ask anymore questions at that point. They brought me my two dogs, I had to put them in the car and then go back in two times to get their stuff while my dogs are freaking out in the car. They didn't bring out the bed I left for them and told me it was in the washing machine. I told them to keep it. I just wanted to get out of there. It breaks my heart to think that my dogs were excluded from daycare and had no time outside their room. That was not my expectation at all. I don't think they were mistreated I just think they did not provide the level of care they sold me. Maybe bring their stuff out and let me get it in the car THEN bring out the dogs. That would have been a smarter way to do that. There is a big sign in the lobby that says daycare is included but at the managers discretion. I disagree with the discretion in the case because it doesn't sound like much time was allowed to "acclimate" to the daycare setting. I didn't see them at all so I question whether or not they even tried. I will give them the benefit of the doubt on that but we will not go there again. I do have pretty high standards for my dogs, this place was not up to my standards and was average in my opinion. My dogs came home clean and healthy and alive and I am thankful for that, just disappointed and I don't like being deceived. read more

This, unfortunately, was a one and done experience. We took our dog in for a two night stay in July. When we arrived we were relieved with how professional the front staff member was and we even opted for a few extra amenities (nail clipping, walk). We kept our dog in an estate suite (the highest level allegedly) so he would have plenty of room. The website states UP TO 96 square feet but I'm a little dubious of this claim. It's reminds me of buying internet, 'up to 50 mbps' usually means you're sitting at 12 mpbs. The reason I say this is because when we got him back he was covered in filth and the fur on his elbows was matted and calloused (kennel elbow). When we arrived to pick him up he looked shaken and scared and was filthy. We should not have opted for the nail trimming as they were cut much too short and four nails were bleeding. We gave the facility three pig ears (one for each day) they gave him one and gave the rest back to us. So it seems they didn't pay much attention to him. Very disappointing experience overall. My wife called them to discuss our disappointment but the manager was on vacation and would call us back. Three weeks later, no call back. Will not return. read more

Was a little nervous to leave my 7 month old little pup for the day. But was able to watch her play happily with the other dogs, under the watchful eye of the handlers, on their monitors. My little dog came home happy and exhausted from her day and we look forward to our next visit. read more

Extremely disappointed. We had our dog stay three nights for boarding. We were impressed with the check in and felt comfortable leaving her. But upon returning, she seemed very anxious and nervous. She was wet and sticky all over and smelled of urine. Her harness was put on incorrectly and was all tangled and twisted. They also handed us our belongings and were missing a majority of our things. I had to ask for the rest of our belongings. When we got our bag and things back, they were also soaked and smelled of urine. Very disappointing. read more

We used Cottonwood recently for our beagle after our usual place was full over Thanksgiving. And, I have to say that I think I like Cottonwood better for any boarding longer than one night. The location itself is way out west on Center so it's not as close but the trip out there is fairly easy. The staff was very professional, kind, and organized on drop off. They took a formal inventory of everything that we sent with her and also entered the food schedule into the system. The check in process was very well done. They have a Sunday pick up option between 4-7 pm but you have to let them know you plan to use it on check in and you have to prepay for your stay if you do use it. Otherwise, I think you have until 1 pm the next day to pick up and not incur an additional days charges. Don't quote me on the 1 pm thing but I think that's right. The pick up was a little less organized but I think that was because it was the Sunday after Thanksgiving and they were forecasting bad weather the following Monday and it was unusually busy. Still, it wasn't bad. The boarding fee per night was very reasonable, $24, and you can add other options like nature walks for your pet while they are there. Our girl is high strung so we did a couple of those nature walks for her and I assume they went fine. I didn't hear otherwise. We've got one more place we want to check out before finalizing our "preferred" boarding location but I definitely would recommend Cottonwood to someone looking for a solid boarding option for your furry friends. read more

Never had to board my Pooch before but when on a week long trip and couldn't bring him along. many reviews complain about down right silly things or simply bad pet parents, nonetheless! Great service many options! Our dog is a very timid and shy dog who has been through a lot but he was happy and excited when we got him and was well behaved for them while we were away! I will be using Cottonwood Pet Resort for all my future boarding needs. They also offer a military discount if that applies to you. read more

Our dog got kennel cough after a three day stay. When I called to notify them of the situation they said there was a lot of it going around ....... and that was it. I guess it's not their responsibility to provide a healthy place for your dog to stay or to provide and meds if your dog gets sick in their kennel. Frustrating read more

I would not trust anyone else for dog care. I have been taking my dog for over two years for occasional overnight stays at Cottonwood. Each time, I feel reassured that I am leaving my pup with people who care about his well being. The check in staff is always friendly - Penny always greets us by name. They are prompt to take my dog back to his accommodations and check in is a breeze. My dog has grown a special affinity towards Trevor. Sometimes I think he is more excited to see him than me. I am very thankful to have found quality staff who time and time again have delivered nothing but excellent care for my dog. I can tell this place truly cares about my pet and I cannot say enough about the staff. read more

I picked up my golden retriever today at noon without notice of my arrival. Lacey had been at Cottonwood Pet Resort since Wednesday afternoon and she was booked in their Estate Suite until Friday afternoon with one additional (over the four they already get) playtime per day. Lacey never has "accidents" in her living environment but when they brought her bed to me, it was soaked in urine. Shame on you people for forcing this wonderful animal to pee in her own bed. Makes me wonder if she ever got let out of the cage! I won't be going back. read more

We have been taking our dogs here for several years now and love the place. The dogs come home worn out but a happy worn out. The staff have always been great and you can tell they love the animals. Also used their day care and we love how they take the time to introduce the dogs to each other. I would have given them 5 stars except now they ask you to parse our their food into singe serving bags. last time I was gone we left for 7 days, they get fed twice a day and 2 dogs. that amounts to 28 small baggies ending up in the trash. Wish they would rethink that policy as it isn't very green. read more

With our son playing on a travel hockey team we have to board our 2 dogs multiple weekends throughout the winter months. Cottonwood has been great!! Our dogs are able to stay in a kennel together, we can add walks, extra play time & even yappy hour. I also LOVE that I can schedule their grooming appointments during their stay, SO convenient!! Cottonwood treated my dogs very well. This was the first time boarding them that is why I give two stars. HOWEVER, one week before boarding them, both had gotten the kennel cough vaccine etc. when I came back to pick them up, and as soon as they got into my car, one of my dogs weren't right. Three weeks now that they have been boarded, my dog is coughing uncontrollably, sneezing and there's drops of blood on my floor. Never have my dogs been sick, gotten fleas, ticks, etc. and now? Now it's a pricey visit to the vet. Maybe they need to actually call the vet offices of the dogs their boarding to make sure none of them are carrying anything. Because now, my beautiful shepherd, is very sick. read more

We love Cottonwood for our cat Bella. The staff is very friendly and have always taken very good care of our girl. I prefer boarding her in the Cat Playroom rather than the Cat Suite since she it means she gets a room to herself and can see everyone through a large window but the suite works just as fine. I went to have a tour of this kennel. The lady conducting the tour insisted that my dog who was scared should come on the tour and she would be the one to hold the leash. My dog was resisting walking with her. We multiple times asked to have her back and she refused. After more of my dog tugging at the leash she turned to us and snottily said maybe we should consider training. I was very hurt by this as my dog is trained. Another worker a gentlemen came along and took over the tour. My dog loved him and acted like a young lady the rest of the tour. I would never board my dog there specifically due to this lady and her rude behavior. read more
