After a couple of visits, Hidden Kitchen has landed on my list of favorite food trucks!…read more You may have seen Hidden Kitchen mentioned or listed at several physical locations because they sell pizzas out of MobCraft Brewery, offer catering, work from their food truck at various places around town, and recently set up a location with a commercial kitchen at the Eleven25 at the Pabst Food Hall at 1125 N. 9th. Street in Milwaukee. The Eleven25 location primarily sells hot or take-n-bake pizzas and fresh sandwiches. I think you'll currently get a better idea of their cooking skills from the food truck. The menu offers a handful of items, with most being seafood dishes, but there non-seafood options, as well as desserts. I enjoyed their lobster roll at the NEWaukee Night Market last summer, and recently LOVED their lamb gyro and crab cakes! They use actual lamb shoulder for the gyro instead of the strips of processed meat you typically get at a gyro joint. The lamb is tender and perfectly seasoned! The crab cakes are made with claw meat and they were perfectly crisp and delicious! I capped off the most recent meal with a slice of their key lime pie, and it exceeded my expectations. The pie crust is a bit fragile on the side, so it may detach from the pie filling when you get close to it, but the flavor and texture are right on! Now, I have their Mahi Mahi tacos and Reuben on my to-do list, based on the rave reviews I've seen on social media, but the menu changes often, so I hope I can keep up!

So that means I get to eat some of their amazing breakfast and lunch menu items when I'm at work! The breakfast items I've tried were the ham, egg and Swiss cheese breakfast sandwich and the bagel, lox and cream cheese breakfast sandwich. My favorite hands down is the bagel and lox. It was delightful packed with fresh cucumber, tomato, onion, capers, lox and cream cheese all on a griddle toasted bagel. For lunch I've had the pleasure of trying the Reuben, blackened salmon sandwich, Cubano and chicken gyro. All very very tasty and well made with great quality meats and fish. My favorites so far are the blackened salmon sandwich and the chicken gyro! These are must tries menu items!!! I highly recommend the food at this truck! I can't wait to try more menu items. I hear the mahi-mahi tacos are his specialty!

My brisket grilled cheese today was even better than the last time I had it, but I was told nothing in the recipes was changed. This burger had cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon jam, and burger sauce. It also came with chive fries...mmmmmm chive fries. They were pretty busy, which I generally take as a good sign, but I had to wait about 10 minutes for my burger. Not bad of a wait really. They called my name and presented me with my burger and fries. It looked great! I hurried by to my office, eating the delicious fries along the way. They were crispy, hot, salty, with just enough chives that you knew they were there but they didn't overpower. I dug into the burger as soon as I sat down. It was fantastic! The burger was cooked to a perfectly pink medium. The bacon jam was amazingly flavorful! I have no idea what burger sauce is but it was great. The lettuce and tomatoes were nice and fresh too. The sesame bun was nicely toasted and the cheddar cheese was nice and melty. I liked that the bun held up well and didn't fall apart while I was eating it. I was in burger heaven! I sure hope this food truck will come by regularly. The rest of their sandwiches sounded great too and I can't wait to try them!

But now that I've had Double Dub's in my life all other wings are nothing compared to them. The wings are perfectly cooked and dripping with sauce. Big juicy wings that there are plenty of meat on so you don't feel like you're not getting what you paid for. Service is always super fast, and I appreciate that they give you pagers so you don't have to keep track of when your food is supposed to be done or be standing around waiting but the truck. I like that they stuck with the theme throughout the naming of their sauces, the different meals that are offered, and the decor of their truck. The staff has always been super nice and helpful for answering questions. Also this is the only establishment I've found where I will order the fries every single time over the tater tots. I've had their tater tots and they're perfectly good tater tots, but Double Dub's does something to their fries that makes me want to get a job there just to know how they're made and seasoned. I dream of both their wings and fries, and I may have a new final last meal now that I've discovered the wonder that is Double Dub's.

For sauces we picked the: buffalo, cinna-bee, spicy bleu and the chili lime dry rub. The spicy bleu was BY FAR my favorite followed closely by the chili lime and buffalo. The wings were cooked perfectly with a good wing to sauce ratio. The fries were also excellent- think crack fries! The food truck staff were all very friendly. They rotate locations so be sure to check their website for their location- we visited at Ope which was great. Keep doing what you're doing Double Dub's we will be back for more

I figured it would be hard to replicate the amazing burgers they make in house...but I was pleasantly surprised with how good my lunch was. The Big Gringo and I go way back.....I feel like I might be missing other things on the menu, but if it ain't broke...don't fix it. I think the Big Gringo at their restaurant is one of the 3 best burgers in town...and their food truck version isn't as great....but it's still damn good. Burger was a little greasier than I had hoped, so I'm thankful I grabbed extra napkins. The burger patty itself was good...not great....but when comparing it to other food trucks (other than my personal favorite) it's one of the best in town. I'm glad I asked for my fries without parmesan, because that made them taste even fresher. Oscar himself is running the truck....the man, the myth the legend. Couldn't be a nicer guy, and the way he rifles through orders was extremely quick, but always with a smile...and a great attitude. Even though summer is ending, I look forward to checking out Oscar's on a Roll on a regular basis.

Really it's the same food from the restaurant. They tend to pile in their fries in the take out container with whatever sandwich you order...and it's around $6-7 depending on the sandwich. For a food truck, the ordering and speediness is dialed in. You grab a soda out of their cooler while you wait and then you receive your box of yum. Hint: Grab an extra napkin or two if you order the Big O.

How nice to finally want to leave a fully-positive review of a business!…read more I've been familiar with LIsa's for decades, and have visited it every now and then over the years . . . even having spent 25 years on the west coast . . . and having first been entranced as a young man by its over-the-street, nearly treehouse-like vibe. (NEARLY. With a little imagination (or actually, a lot), a window seat, in view of the mature tree outside, Lisa's achieves realizes its full charm.) The interior is an understated, tasteful, comfortable, semi-hippie blend of artwork and plants. Last visit, I enjoyed perfect fried eggplant, and one of the very best Margherita pizzas (here, the "Margaret") that I've ever had. Real, fresh mozzarella; real, fresh basil; and, maybe most important, actual slices of red, fresh tomatoes (not just cheating with a mere tomato sauce, as some places do). This time, I started with a real bargain of a tossed green salad. It had so many ingredients (by my rough count, around a dozen) that I couldn't even identify some. A heaping, colorful, healthful and appealing salad that puts to shame the side salads that most other restaurants merely "phone in". (The balsamic vinaigrette is strong, so I'm glad that I stuck to my rule of ordering it on the side, so that I could control the amount used.) Pizza: Pepperoni and mushroom, with FRESH mushrooms, correctly sliced (large, flat slices taken top to bottom) to maximize their flavor. A satisfyingly thin and crispy cracker crust. Nice sauce. (My only disappointment -- a slight one -- was finding the taste of the crust rather bland. But on the other hand, even though I've had more than one flavorful crust elsewhere, I assume that it's easier to pack a thicker, more doughy crust with flavor than it is with a cracker crust.) Great service, with a winning, genuine smile, from Cecilia. A nice way to begin an evening out on a fine summer day in Milwaukee.

This small sausage and mushroom pizza had most of the cheese concentrated in the center, leaving approximately a 3-inch ring around the edge with no cheese at all. In addition, it contained only seven penny-sized pieces of sausage and about six slices of mushroom. I have spoken with both the owner and Hannah multiple times about pizzas and salads with missing ingredients, yet nothing changes. It is extremely disappointing and frustrating to have to drive back to the restaurant to address issues that should have been caught before the food was served. The owner appears unwilling to hire an experienced manager to oversee quality control, and the result is a product that is consistently falling short of low expectations. What makes this especially sad is that the previous owner and his wife spent decades building this business by taking pride in the food they served and ensuring customers received a quality product. Unfortunately, that commitment to quality no longer seems to exist.
