I purchased my wedding band nearly 30 years ago @ said business…read more Recently (September 2025) the prong broke prompting me to return for repairs, while there I decided to UPGRADE my ENGAGEMENT BAND spending over $7000. Unfortunately this experience has been nothing short of a DISASTER!! The LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM & ATTENTION TO DETAIL was DISAPPOINTING. Just as I did nearly 30 years ago I also returned to the outstanding jeweler my husband purchased my beautiful princess cut 2.02 G color grade/S12 clarity diamond stone for a 2nd appraisal which included the upgraded engagement band and the new wedding band, work Michael AGNELLO signed off on and thank goodness I did. Just like anything in life a 2nd opinion, especially when a substantial cost is incurred is beneficial, this is what was discovered & what transpired THE PRINCESS CUT DIAMOND IN MY UPGRADED ENGAGEMENT BAND WAS LOOSE, THE STONE ITSELF WAS NOT CENTERED PROPERLY. THE TINGE WAS NOT MATCHED PROPERLY, WHICH EXPLAINED THE VISIBLE YELLOWING BETWEEN THE NEW WEDDING BAND IN CONTRAST WITH MY UPGRADED ENGAGEMENT BAND. BOTH OF THESE DISAPPOINTING ERRORS, LED TO ADDITIONAL EXPENSES, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL RISK OF LOSING THE STONE, WHICH IS ALARMING.!!!! THE APPRAISAL(s) MICHAEL AGNELLO SIGNED OFF ON WERE INCOMPLETE, INACCURATE even worse they DID NOT REFLECT THE CORRECT NUMBER OF DIAMONDS AND THEIR VALUE, NO PHOTOS WERE INCLUDED, ADDITIONALLY BOTH HAD THE WRONG DATE/YEAR WHICH RAISES CONCERNS ABOUT ITS RELIABILITY. NO INSURANCE AGENCY WOULD FIND THIS ACCEPTABLE. WHILE AT THE 2nd APPRAISAL APPOINTMENT I CALLED MICHAEL ON HIS CELL PHONE TO ADDESS MY CONCERNS. I had his personal cell # because he phoned me when he understood my initial visit in September was nothing short of a disappointment, he advised me he doesn't like his customers to leave disappointed, this too is misleading as well because it's the end of the year and the disaster goes on While at my appointment for my 2nd appraisal I did advise Michael he was on speaker conveying my concerns. Additionally I advised I tipped the sales lady, Michael was quick to respond "my staff knows not to accept tips" he immediately asked the tipped sales lady about accepting my tip and she was heard replying "I gave it to you" This contradictory information from the owner was further misleading, along with the quality issues of the bands, the botched appraisals which causes alarm as a consumer all of which left an extremely bad impression and further illustrates the lack of professionalism of his establishment When I attempted to discuss these issues with Michael he was rude. In fact, he was telling me to relax and considering the circumstances and discovery of these errors I was and then .... HE HUNG UP ON ME!!!! I wasn't the only one listening to him as I had him on speaker so there is no way around this should he refute I've noticed on previous reviews Michael disputing they're not so unique situations similar to mine further disregarding customer service and professionalism of a business owner downplaying and dismissing their concerns as well These are facts despite whatever Michael may claim especially with the documents with his signature signing off on them. I had hoped for a professional resolution rather than being compelled to resort to social media advocacy for others who might share or face similar challenges with his business however he choose to disregard my email requesting a call instead; SILENCE IS HIS ANSWER!!!! Overall; I cannot recommend this business, it's disheartening to see a business with such a long standing reputation fails to uphold its COMMITMENT TO CUSTOMERS ONE STAR IS GENEROUS BECAUSE ZERO IS NOT AN OPTION BUYERS BEWARE AND BE SMART BEFORE OPENING UP YOUR WALLETS AND YOUR HEARTS TO BE MET WITH DISAPPOINTMENT TO THE STAFF ON SITE, BE PLEASANT AND MORE APPEALING OPPOSED TO THE SOMBER FEELING OF THE ENVIRONMENT Happy New Year!! My goal with this review is ADVOCACY for future clients so they don't find themselves in a similar situation.

Low pressure with coffee and nice treats available to bide the time!! And oh, did I mention the fabulous affordable selections they have at this store? Do not buy anywhere else until you stop here to shop. They are definitely worth the drive / time here in metro Detroit.

We followed all of the maintenance recommendations on these items and purchased many other cherished pieces over the years. We began having an issue with my wedding set cracking in a certain spot. We had it in for 3 visits within 6 months for repairs. They tried to convince us that we needed to pay $3,800 to have it remade. It was not adding up to us and our trust in them began to fail. I finally picked my ring up in the condition listed as needing to be redone. I took it to a recommended family Jewelry Store in St. Clair and they were saddened that it was not receiving the care or expertise needed to make my ring perfect again. I am beyond disappointed with my experience with Lawrence jewelers. I feel as if we are a number to them now and they did everything they could to make some money off my cherished wedding pieces purchased and designed by them. I think it is shameful. Happy to share that with the right expertise, Coughlin's Jewelers has restored my ring and it looks more amazing than the day of our wedding!

I am in the Port Huron, MI, area and needed my wedding set repaired. I had lost one emerald stone…read more NOTHING more was needed except to check the prongs. Sam Clawson at the Lawrence Jeweler in Fort Gratiot, MI, worked for over a week trying to convice me that my rings were worthless and my smaller diamonds were nothing but chips, my larger diamond was not the quality I thought I had. He assured me I would be wasting money to repair something of it's quality that was so badly damaged. My ring was from Mosher's Jeweler and had been serviced by them for 30 years. I had appraisal certifications to prove the quality and value of all my rings. At the end of our "relationship", Sam was all set to sell me a new wedding set for over $12,000. When I asked for certain information in writing, the whole attitude changed. This jewelry store is not operated as a quality and trustworthy jewelry store. From the first time inside, we felt we were being hustled but wanted to see if we were correct. After their "scam" went south, we left and went to Coughlin Jewelers in St. Clair. They appraised all my jewelry in accordance with my previous appraisal certifications. Not only did they repair my wedding set, they replaced two of my diamonds with larger stones, replaced the one lost emerald, took the two smaller diamonds that had been replaced and made earring charms for me. All for $2,500. I will never darken the doors of Lawrence Jewelers and would advise EVERYONE, before making a purchase, you will be better served and get better quality by going to Coughlin Jewelers in St. Clair, MI.

We visited James O. Poag Jewellers earlier this spring to design our rings!…read more ...yes, THOSE rings! To be clear: no proposal yet! We both have family diamonds, and have discussed for years that it would be a wonderful idea to combine them and create the perfect custom engagement ring that also symbolizes our families coming together... awwwwwww... so now the time has come... :) Our appointment was with Mr. James O. Poag himself, and he was absolutely brilliant. It's his family business. He made us feel comfortable instantly, and spent about an hour with us as we did the whole design decision. We never for a moment felt rushed or pressure in any way. He was a very good listener to what we wanted, and was informative, upfront, funny and creative. It was an absolutely perfect experience! They even let our small dog come in (in a purse) so she didn't have to wait in the car alone the whole time (we drove in from Toronto). Just love that. We received a rendering of the ring designs within 2-3 weeks of our appointment. SO COOL! I am sharing those renderings so you know more about the custom design process - I had no idea! It makes it all that more exciting! The shop itself is in Strathroy, a quaint little town in southwestern Ontario. It is seriously adorable, which adds to the romance of the occasion for sure! Its interior is clean, the fantastic staff are informed, attentive and clearly interested in their careers in jewellery. I love passion. One of the reasons we loved this place when first deciding on where to go was that they do fingerprint engraving jewellery (http://www.poags.com/dimples.cfm), though we didn't end up choosing rings that suited this technique. We'll be back to create more custom work though! A second reason is that they buy gold. We brought in some old jewellery box finds to sell (didn't seem like much) and turns out we stared with an $850+ credit! Yay for the current gold market (and yay again for Poag's)! No wonder there are so many gold buyer commercials! Third: My in-laws-to-be gave us a $500 gift certificate here after researching area custom designers/gemologists/jewellers. Thank you, Macphees! Now that we have signed off on the design for all three rings (engagement, 2 x wedding bands), I have stepped out of the equation. I do know the rings were ready six weeks after our appointment (that milestone has passed), but I don't know when/where/how the proposal will happen! FUN! Will of course update this review at the next step of the journey! :) To summarize: So far, so good with our custom ring designs using family diamonds + one we purchased there! I have been extremely impressed and absolutely satisfied with every aspect of this business throughout the process. It came very highly recommended, and now I wouldn't hesitate to join the chorus. GO HERE!

Some items may appear quite pricey, but they seemed very rare and antique. I was excited to see some crystals in one of the glass cases. They had a super awesome pyrite one and it was super cheap too. I was going to buy it but I do not have anymore room in my collection at this time. They seemed fairly priced though. They had quite a lot of other pieces as well. I did see a unique coin section too. The employees behind the counter seemed very knowledgable as well. They were showing an individual a clock and knew all of its history as well. I would definitely come back to this shop.

The signage is absolutely nonexistent Which is a shame because this building and the quality of antiques are absolute gems. This place is two levels inside of an old church with all the stained glass windows still intact. It is absolutely breathtaking and the quality of the artifacts on the upper level is superb. This is not your search for a Hidden Gem Store. This is most definitely a looking for a high-quality piece to finish off your collection type of store. Absolutely worth the stop in. Two individuals running it we're extremely sweet and hospitable they were very knowledgeable and you could tell took great pride in their daughter who was attending Wayne State in the city. They made you feel at home with coffee and cookies out. I will make it a point to come back. I hope they succeed. He also had a brief story of the owner and why he started antiquing. It is highly respectable. What I hope they get to fix is the signage if they want more customers. Sadly It looks like just another closed Church during the week.
