We ended up renting a boat in August with about 7 or 8 of us. My boyfriend and I have never rented a boat before, so we have no knowledge on boat rentals. We read online that in NC that if you are under 25 years old, you have to get your boating license in order to drive a boat. We called to confirm this and a woman picked up. She said yes that is required. We later heard from some people from the area that it wasn't required, so we called again just to double-check. Again, she said a license is required. So my boyfriend paid $30 and spent about 6 hours getting an online boating license. When we arrived... my boyfriend showed the license and the guy (owner?) says "What's that? You don't need that" and when we told him about our phone encounters, he said to us "The employee you talked to was wrong....Women..... am I right?" (With a major eye roll) Excuse me? You're going to say that to a group of 5 girls and 3 guys? So rude. Anyway, we got on the boat and had a great time. The boat was super nice and the water was great that day. That's why they get the 2 stars. But we had more troubles when we brought back the boat. He said "You smoked a cigar on the boat? That is not allowed mi amigo" to my (Mexican) boyfriend. MAYBE you need to tell your customers the rules when we made it VERY clear we've never ever done this before. And also don't say that to a Spanish-speaking person... Or anyone. THEN he fills up the boat and tells us the cost of fuel when we were about to leave, which is funny because I asked multiple times if there would be any other charges besides the rental fee and they said no. Overall day, great boat, great lake, annoying & rude staff Again... sorry for the long review! I never write bad reviews so I was trying to be as detailed as possible.

They seemed like they genuinely wanted us to have a good time on the lake. I called ahead to rent the pontoon for the day, and everything was prepped and ready to go when we arrived at the marina. They even had complimentary drinks for us, which was a nice touch. The water was nice and we swam for a bit. If I make a trip back down to NC this summer, I'll definitely stop by again.

There are also full campgrounds nearby. This area is on a spit of land in Badin Lake. It is very spacious with plenty of parking, fishing piers and even some "beach" areas. There is a large shelter with a large greenspace in front of of it at the back end of the park. There is also toilet facilities, picnic tables and charcoal grills around the area. Very clean and it makes for a nice day outdoors.

Our journey director was outstanding. Our fellow travelers were fabulous, a group of 12. We would explore the coast from this beautiful spot in Positano, each day setting out for adventure in a lovely Mercedes van. We were mostly in places where we saw few Americans, we ate at wonderful restaurants, and had an absolute blast. We had a wonderful blend of active and down time, we learned and saw so much, and laughed every day ! Amazing! The next trip was Florence, Cinque Terra, and Tuscany, amazing as well. The hotels and villa we stayed in were top notch, our journey director amazing, another perfect trip. This was a more active trip, but we enjoyed every second, we felt like we saw a very real side of Italy, not just tourist spots. The Time we spent on each spot was magical. The charming town of Lucca and the Villa in Tuscany were top of our list. We are not organized tour people, but the small group, perfectly curated Nada's trips are beyond.
