Was excited to try something new only to be disappointed. Sat there for 30-40 min to NOT get our food. We then asked and was told it was coming out sat down for 15 more minutes and nothing. Traveling back home to LA from the sequoias and found this hidden totally 100% locals breakfast spot. Wow is all I can say!! Great prices, great portions and best of all great food! The service was quick and polite. It has an outdated appearance but please do not let that scare you off, this place was amazing. I was seconding guessing my choice big time but I was blown away and as soon as I took my first bite I was SOLD!! Great job guys, if I'm ever back in the area I will definitely come back!!! If I could give negative stars I would ! Service was terrible! Waited over 30 minutes and never got our food yet people behind us where. I don't know the reason for that but on top of that while waiting we started to see a roach on the wall . We brought it to the waitress and she said she understood if we left and that the problem was from new neighbors but that the food was ready . We waited another 10 minutes no food but we did see another roach at that time we got up and left .. I will never go back and if you decide to go there watch out for roaches . Country friendly staff. Coffee on the table immediately-- GREAT Tasting coffee too. Ordered the chicken fried steak/gravy-, country potatoes and eggs sunny side up. I'm so glad I did. He wanted to bbq with my parents but for our last night in town but I had really wanted to go eat at my favorite place in town.. Last time we were here they were in the middle of a remodel.. New owners is what I hear.. Hopefully brought back those old Cellar Favorites.. However This Was A Complete Letdown! I had the unfortunate displeasure of dining at this establishment tonight, and it was nothing short of a disaster. The poor service started the moment we walked through the door, with servers seemingly more interested in anything other than attending to their guests. We were left waiting far longer than acceptable to be seated. To make matters worse, the undercooked steaks were a major letdown. I ordered mine medium rare, but what arrived was closer to raw. It's evident the cook lacks even the most basic understanding of proper preparation. The steaks were not only undercooked but also devoid of any discernible flavor. Additionally, it was disheartening to hear the owners openly speak ill of their employees. This level of unprofessionalism is inexcusable and reflects poorly on the entire establishment. It's clear that this once-beloved local spot has fallen far from grace. My dismay continued when I visited the restroom. The state of the bathrooms was downright appalling. It's incomprehensible that such a basic aspect of hygiene could be so neglected. To add insult to injury, the dishes served were clearly not properly cleaned. It's alarming to think of the potential health risks associated with such negligence. The sight of dirty dishes only further cemented my decision to never set foot in this establishment again. This experience was a stark reminder of how a once-beloved local favorite can devolve into a complete disappointment. The food is okay, a little greasy and you only sometimes get the eggs the way you order. For example, if you over eggs over medium they will be served over hard. The service could be faster and the wait staff tends to have conversations with regulars instead of doing their job by checking on all tables and getting the orders out promptly. Unfortunately didn't have a great experience here, i didn't like the way the waitresses attitude was kinda felt a little bit of a racist vibe from her being that my family was all mixed ethnicity, the reason i felt this was we were sat down and then skipped to order our food and drink, after waiting 10 mins for her to come back around she than says "sorry, those people came in and didn't want to wait their turn" . That is what made me feel the racist vibe the most. It's a small mom and pop shop and I've heard nothing but great things about this place and for me to get the experience and customer service i did was unfortunate. Food wise my entire party was not unsatisfied, my sister in law had a hair inside her pancake not outside or on the plate it was inside the pancake, she than sat her plate aside and chose not to eat at all, my wife's cousin got sick after eating a quarter of the meal, I myself ordered the full chicken-fried steak with a biscuit and gravy, the country fried steak was slightly under cooked for my liking, hash browns were burned but the eggs were great tho. I took one bite of the biscuit and gravy. Just wasn't our cup of tea. read more

Most of all, I do not feel out of place , this is my kind of country joint. Only reason for not giving it five stars is because they do not use butter. Butter makes a HUGE difference. HUGE! This has got to be the best kept secret for a great meal in Porterville... I believe this is under new owners/management just from some of the talk that I have heard. I have to tell you they have the best steaks as well as sandwiches and salads. A friend recommended going out here and I think we've been there weekly since. The service is great although breakfast can get a little busy they are working around that. The prices are unbelievable for a good steak perfectly cooked.
