There was a decent line on Saturday morning, but it went fast & the staff seems to have an excellent system to keep it flowing. Went here for a quick breakfast the other day and stopped by this place after some insight. This deli has a lot of menu options that all looked pretty good and the service was quick. They're cash only but have an atm inside so shouldn't be an issue. We got the turkey club with fries and the breakfast sandwich. The club was okay and there was nothing wrong with it but may have been better with some cheese and more sauce. Fries were okay too. The club and fries did the job though. The breakfast sandwich I thought was good with perfect egg to meat ration and the amount of cheese was perfect! The roll it comes on is a good amount of bread for the sandwich but I enjoy that. You can also get it on a bagel of choice too if you wanted. Heard this was a staple for Fairfield and I can see why. It had good vibes, quick service, and good food. This place lives up to the hype. A friend recommended this place to me and I was not disappointed. Get a order of egg and cheese with salt pepper tobacco ketchup Mayo. You won't regret it. This place looks like it's been in business for a long time and was very busy for a Wednesday morning. I'm fairly new to the area and read some promising reviews about this place. I ordered a BEC on a hard roll and I strongly recommend this place! The portion of the sandwich was good and the egg and bacon were cooked perfectly. The customer ahead of me ordered a sausage egg and cheese on a Portuguese roll and that will probably be my next order. Super fast, super delicious - CASH ONLY!! This place has been around since I was a kid and has the best breakfast sammie around! They aren't crazy creative like Tasty Yolk or Hole in the Wall (which I give solid 4s to), but it is just a standard, delicious meat egg and cheese. It's the same bacon, egg, and cheese you can find at any bodega in NYC and plenty of delis in the area. Hits the spot, but not even the best BEC in a half mile radius (Tasty Yolk wins that one easily). The people waxing poetic about these are either nostalgic about them or haven't had many decent BECs. I got a Turkey grinder and it's a free-for-all, you can get as many toppings as you like. Get half meat that's the recommended size. I'll get this out there first- What I like best - The BEC is the best EVER, hands down! I grew up in Fairfield County and have lived or worked in numerous towns and covered the entire county for work for much of my life and have had them at LOTS of establishments. I can say confidently, that I find theirs to be the BEST. I think the trick is butter, but the cheese is more noticeable than most other BEC's. Whatever it is, they are phenomenal! What I don't like about it- EVERYTHING else! I shudder when my older daughter requests one from there. For starters, the place can be an utter %@$!show. Crowded with no semblance of a line, people waiting for orders, people waiting TO order, and people coming in and going right to the front of the closest thing to a line to pick up orders that were called in. It's chaos. I always call ahead and I am fine waiting 20 min or more, but, usually when you get there you have to deal with the circus for a while. Secondly, the CASH only thing is ridiculous. They have the most expensive Egg and Cheese sandwiches in the world and then if you forget cash, you have to hit their ATM and pay a fee on top of it. Who is Cash-Only these days? The other institutions in Fairfield County that were Cash-only have started accepting cards. Some long ago e.g. original Colony in Stamfo. On top of all this, I find the staff to be kind of apathetic. I'm NOT saying they are not nice, it may just be a function of them being VERY BUSY. The phone is ringing off the hook, and people are often looking around with confused looks trying figure out who is up next. To me the perception is that the staff doesn't really care and just wants your CASH. Just my observation, but I have been through it too many times to count. It's not a one-off experience. It's too stressful to deal with for a breakfast sandwich, especially on a weekend morning. I can go to Duchess just up the street and can get one for half the price (possibly less), but admittedly, it is much more bland. If your friends are offering to pick one up, take them up on it, but otherwise it's not worth the production of picking one up yourself. For me it's far too aggravating. Based on food (only have had BEC's there) only it would get a "5" but the rest would be a zero. I think a "3" is generous. I did notice they've added some ropes and an "order here" sign during the Pandemic. I hope that helps. The BEC is worth trying. The standard is great and the "Double Everything" is fantastic, but will set you back $8 plus. Be sure to bring cash and be prepared to be frustrated during their peak times. read more
