This is an amazing place. We ordered 3 calzones during family weekend at Fairfield. Italian cold cuts, meatball, and chicken cutlet. They were incredible. You cannot find them like this anymore. Your classic italian deli. The inside has seating but its not much of a "sit-down" restaurant. The paninis and rice balls are especially amazing. I feel very lucky to have found this place while I was looking for someone to cater a birthday party for my husband. When I checked out their website, I saw that their pop-up buffet offers a fantastic variety of food AND that they make their own pasta. Score and score. I called and the owner walked me through the menu and helped me make my selections. He was super friendly and patient as I asked a LOT of questions. Then I popped in one day to check it out. It's a cute place set up very much like one of my favorite markets/restaurants on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. When I introduced myself to the owner, Dominick, he pulled up my order and sat with me to go through the details. In spite of the restaurant being busy, Dominick was very attentive and personable. He assured me that I would have absolutely nothing to worry about when it came to the food. Skip to the party- the food was AMAZING! The antipasto trays were full of their in-house made Italian sausage and mozzarella, along with all the traditional trimmings. Their cavatelli with broccoli rabe with both spicy and regular sausage was delicious. Everything came with extra dressing, sauces, grated cheese, garlic knots, and serving utensils. Dominick came through on his promise that I would have nothing to worry about. Everyone asked me where the food came from and I happily shared. This place hit the spot! For just under 8 bucks I had the most delicious wrap I think I've ever had ("the godson" sandwich but substituted bread w a wrap and added broccoli rabe. This place is a great go-to, my only suggestion would be not to order through Yelp and just call ahead. So wanted a quality eggplant grinder. A search on Yelp led me here--so I ordered online an eggplant parm grinder with extra sauce and an order of vodka sauce. Initially, it said a 15-30 min wait. Perfect, as I was about 12 mins away. Yet, placing the order added more to my wait time. Bummer. I arrived--waited for a text to tell me it was ready. Waiting, waiting, waiting. A call---not a text came in. Did not answer. Tired of waiting, I went in an gave my name and order. The guy said, "Oh did your husband just come in?" "No, I do not have a husband." Guy, "Oh some guy just came in and said he ordered an eggplant, when I asked about the vodka sauce he said he did not order that and left with the eggplant grinder." Oh. And I am apologizing for not answering the call. So someone took my order (????) and the guy said in 5 mins he would have my sandwich ready. ok 17 mins later...my sandwich. The bread was great--the eggplant decent---no parm, so little sauce on the actual sandwich and the extra was 2 little micro containers only. Mozz cheese which all stuck to the foil. I am pulling off the highway, starving and running out of gas (and avoiding Connecticut's identical Route 95 rest stops out of principle). Don't even know what town I am in. Doesn't take long to find out: the college town of Fairfield. Filling up at a Shell, I ask the college student-aged attendant where to get an Italian sub. "Italian Kitchen," says he. What better recommendation! Interesting place. Half the floor was taken up with shelves of groceries and stacked cans of tomatoes, as if the tables were put away to make better use of the space during this pandemic. One large table (set for a dinner party, no less) survived. Steady stream of customers: mothers, college students, doing mostly carryout, pizzas and subs flying. We got ours ("The Godfather," my favorite movie!) and Pellegrinos and took a table outside. The quality of the meat (real prosciutto, capicola, sopressata) was superb. Long leaves of Romaine, definitely not from a bag of heavily-chopped, pre-washed, institutional restaurant lettuce. Hey, this stuff matters to me! Moral of the story: do not look for a meal at one of those generic Highway 95 rest stops, even though you could. You will always do better taking an exit. Can't beat a college town, either. The chairs had some rips on them, and the tables were chipped in many places. I loved the whole hams on display. I went on the website to check the menu and called in an order for a medium pizza - half veggie and half bruschetta. On their website, the price for a medium veggie is 14.99 and the bruschetta is $12.99. I pick up the pizza, expecting the price to be $14.99 + tax, worst case. At the register, the pizza rings up to almost $22. I look at the menu next to the register which shows slightly higher prices than online, but still less than charged. When I ask about the different prices, I'm told neither the online menu nor the printed menu have the correct pricing due to COVID increases. Totally get increases but the actual prices should be somewhere, or at a minimum, a notation that prices have increased. I just went and looked at the online ordering prices and they are also less than what I was charged. I thought - okay, no biggie. I get the pizza home and instead of half veggie & bruschetta, we have a very lightly veggie-topped half and some mystery meat on the other half. We are vegetarians, so no pizza for us. I highly suggest that if you order from here, check your pizza before you leave. read more

I think my biggest problem was how the menu misrepresented the dishes, at least in my opinion. i'm sure some of the dishes are good (pizza looked good in pics on the website) but i would never order from here again because of the chicken dishes i received. menu says "all dishes served with homemade pasta" which i thought would mean they would be served over pasta. instead, my chicken françese was served in one container, and my side of pasta was over cooked rigatoni with marina sauce in a separate tin. it felt like two separate dishes. you get a LOT of pasta which is nice, but the overly sweet marinara kind of ruins it. Boars Head deli meats and cheeses, prepared hot & cold food, soups, and pizza. Some imported specialty retail. Pleasant service & willing to create what you want which is good. Used to love this place and go often. Frankly though began to think it was overpriced for what it was and made the switch to Gaetanos about a year ago better food and fresher. They were closed today early so I figured why not go back and check it out. First off they are price gouging. Charging $15 for Poland Spring bottled water..in a time where we are in a national disaster you are going to price gouge like that? Then for 6 meatballs they charge $3 a meatball!!!
