an older motel next to an abandoned motel/building next door...small parking lot, but didn't have any issues finding a spot...3 floors, no elevators (not seen) and outdoor stairs to upper floors...arrived around dinner time, but no staff in the check-in area...waited and walked around to activate the door sensors...hoping staff would hear the noise and come out...some wait and staff coming out to check us in...staff was pleasant and friendly...key card provided and given directions to a 3rd floor room...had an interesting neighbor with doors always kept wide open with a baby...entered the room and finding little dark...very basic motel layout with vanity and sink open to the room towards the back next to the closet...toilet and bath/shower room with a door...the room was a bit shaby...an odd puddle of liquid on the floor...grabbed a roll of toilet paper to wipe it off...noticed the paper turn completely black...while there weren't any crumbs or trash on the floor, the floor was really dirty...wipe lightly with tissue and it was black...beds were made and sheets clean...not the most comfortable bed...the room was for 4 people, but there were hardly any towels...had to go down to request and staff kindly brought up some towels...not a lot of choices for motels in this area...close to sonora downtown...besides the dirty floors, the room ended up being okay for a night for folks just passing through town... read more

This place is awful in a pinch. Go anywhere else besides this hole in the ground. When we first checked in, the man with blue hair at the front desk told us we could do a late checkout (noon the next day) because we checked in at about 2 in the morning and we were exhausted. After arriving into the room and checking the bed sheets there were multiple long hairs in the sheets and off colored stains on both beds we slept in. So we reluctantly slept on top of the bed sheets. Around 10:59 the next morning, we were called by our room phone and a disrespectful lady on the phone told us bluntly we had to pack up our things and leave immediately and saying there is no such thing as a "late checkout". So with the stress of running off pretty much zero sleep and the rudeness and unprofessionalism of this hotels staff, I would suggest to stay from far and away from this horrendous building they a call a "comfortable get away". read more

An older building made over into a remodel Inn. They call it a 3 level building but looks and feels like 2. Booked our last minute stay through booking.com. Check in was a breeze as everything processed correctly through the 3rd party. We were provided 2 keys to our room. No continental breakfast provided. There is a nice cozy pool located in the rear of the upper level which was nice to use for a couple of hours, with a few tables and chairs set up. Room was accommodated with a microwave, frig and coffee maker. Our room had ALL decaf coffee . No laundry bags provided. This is more of a motel style set up with your room doors all facing outside, no indoor hallways to block some of the outside noise. Overall, Country Inn property / rooms seemed nice, like it had been recently remodeled. For just a night or couple nights, it is a VERY reasonably priced place for your Tuolumne County trips. HOWEVER, I have to include my gripes: our room was very nice, obviously recently renovated, clean and warm. But the beds? We did a 2 queen bed larger room and on both beds the mattresses were absolute garbage. We could feel the springs. Just cheap, junk mattresses, incredibly uncomfortable. The pillows & bedding were also poor. Other than that - I was very satisfied with the quality of the hotel versus the pricing. Very reasonable pricing. If you want luxury, this isn't your place. But if you're looking for somewhere clean and quiet to stay, this is your place. Yes, the rooms are dated, yes the furniture has its lumps and bumps but the room is clean, the beds are comfortable and the showers are good. There is no cell service here. The WiFi is not set up properly so you cannot get a secure connection to browse the web but you can send messages. The check in was lovely.When we asked for more pillows, no problem. The rooms are comfortable and you can see that they make upgrades when they can. Our bathroom seemed upgraded as well as the TV. The cable channels were generous to choose from. Stayed a couple of nights for work, much better than we thought it was going to be based on other reviews. One thing is for sure though, it's noisy here. The Hwy is loud, the walls are thin, and the a/c and refrigerator kept us up at night. Our room was missing the complimentary coffee and when we asked for some the staff really didn't want to give us one like it was some fancy gourmet shit or something so that was a bit odd. After 3.5 hours driving in the mountain with endless dark curvy road ahead, I finally made to here around 11pm. Exhausted. The policy is that they can only reserve the room until midnight. There was a sign hanging outside the office said "No Vacancy". Book ahead, don't take chance. Since I traveled with my dog, I need to find a hotel that is pet friendly. I personally think charge $25 per night per pet is a little too much unless I have no option. This place charges $10 per pet per night. The lady at front desk was very nice, I told her due to the rim fire the 120 hwy closure, I had to change my plan. There's no way I can drive another 3.5 hours X 2 back and forth the next day. she recommended me few spots nearby to check out the next day. I don't know why every time I travel there was fire, last summer was the Colorado Spring fire.. I couldn't find any cheap hotel within 50 miles of Denver. The room is in good size and has everything you need for in the hotel. I like it the room has sufficient lighting. Both sides of the bed has its own bedside table with 2 outlet plug. Everything is very comfortable and this place is quiet. FOR TWO DAYS I ALMOST DIDN'T WANT TO GET UP!!! for the price and value it deserves 5 stars. Free Wifi is not super fast but very stable so I am not really complaining consider Sonora is a rural area. (and keep in mind I am heavy internet user) Just one note: according to Hotel.com. its 45 miles to Yosemite Valley center but actual map it is 71 miles and will take up to a little more than 2 hrs. with the 120 hwy closure I had to take 49 to 140 and it became 95 miles and with slow traffic in front it can take me up to 3.5 hours. Room 302 had bedbugs. Evening staffer, blonde gal with green/blue highlights, said bed bugs weren't red and it was a bug I brought in. I took a nap and set the alarm and woke up to this bastard and a few others running away from biting me. I argued to switch rooms which eventually happened, but the way she treated me was unacceptable. I even brought the water bottle to her with the one I trapped and she shrugged her shoulders and said she couldn't tell what it was. At ck out the manager said yes it was bedbugs and she was sorry. Sorry doesn't get back the money I spent in decon and the stress I've had all week worrying abt bringing them home. This hotel is one of few that offers a govt rate. Run federal employees. I will not stay here again! It was clean other than the mold in the bathroom, and green lime scale on all the fixtures from the faucet to the emergency fire sprinkler system. The mattresses are discount mattresses that do not fit the bed frames. The pillows are also very thin not fluffy. The security lock for the door is broken. Heater worked very well. No plug for tub, or sink. I wish I could say it was inexpensive. I booked and prepaid through Expedia. Price included 2 adults and up to three children. When I arrived at the motel I was charged $11 more for my child under 18. Was told it was not included in the price. This place is exactly as advertised: a no-frills inn in the middle of a small town. Being from the city myself, I find it hard to understand the reviews bashing this place for leaving a hair in the shower or having a king bed that doesn't have ample back support. C'mon guys, if we're going to pay budget prices, let's not expect a palace with complimentary couples massage here. All in all, check in was quick, the rate was cheap, room was clean and spacious, appliances all functioned (large, wall mounted TV, fridge, microwave, coffee machine,) and it ultimately got the job done. I'd recommend it to the more carefree crowd. If your standards are higher, I'd then suggest shelling out a little more for a nice hotel nearby as there are a good amount! read more

This place has potential. I would have given a two and a half star review if I could. The rooms are upgraded and nice. I do understand the low and frustrated reviews though. I had to state my case for getting an extra coffee packet, and towel. I chose not to have the room serviced after the first night. There was only one coffee packet and two towels. I paid extra for my child who was the third person in the room and I needed another towel and coffee the next day since I didn't have the room serviced. I understand that hotels get taken advantage of. I would have booked another room though if I'd brought the rest of my family. It seems that this place may have been taken advantage of in the past. All this being said, I come to the Sonora area regularly and I won't be staying here again. I don't like being seen as a nuisance for asking for something that seems reasonable. I've generally asked the person cleaning other rooms for extra supplies at other hotels and received them with no problem. At this hotel, I was told I had to go down stairs to ask the manager though. I booked a reservation ONE MONTH in advance to my stay and prepaid. After driving for 8hrs tired I arrived to check in and the clerk tells me they doubled booked my room and they had nothing for me. I had my children with me at that and now on where to go which she obv did not care what so ever. she blamed the website I booked which I called and they confirmed it was not them. Book'ing tried to get in contact with her to figure out a solution because she sent me to another's hotel which they didn't even have the 3night rooms available for me. As they tried to con her she let them know she had guest and never returned to the phone call. I was left out in the cold for over 2hrs trying to find a new hotel with my child. very unprofessional and I'm not even familiar what so ever with the area so it was hard. Absolutely the worst place to stay at! First, my husband and I laughed at the decor. Horrible!! We thought it can't get worse than this... Or we thought. Don't use the tap for your coffee. Bring your own water and might as well bring your own coffee pods. Bring your own towels since you'll be very limited. There's no swing latch either. Just a lock on the knob and deadbolt that both need a key to lock and unlock. So anyone with a key can open your door from outside if you're still in the room. Make sure you bring your own slippers and bring your own body loofah. And at this point, you might as well bring your own sheets, since everything seems sketchy. We were still laughing at this point and thought it couldn't get worse. Then, we tried to shower. We had no cold water to shower. Scorching hot water. And the more you turn the water, it's just more high pressure scorching hot water. Then we tried getting cold water from the sink and mixing it with the scorching hot water and tried to take a limited bath. Yeah, bad idea. Clear mildew came off from somewhere in the tub and I just got out. Needless to say, we didn't shower. We put on clean clothes and decided to just drive an hour and half home and shower there. I let the receptionist know about my experience and was told I needed to wait about an hour to speak the owner about a refund. I'll be calling and I hope that conversation goes smoothly. I'm already very upset, angry and annoyed. Especially since I didn't have a good cup of coffee. P.S. not this this is relevant, but we also found a huge spider I almost stepped on. read more

Beverley was very helpful. Room #308 was a nice size, not cramped in at all. Decent for the price too. 82 bucks for a very quiet stay, 5 starz for that. One major complaint is for the love seat that was in the room. This thing should not have been anywhere on the property. Room was $76 a night. they charged an extra $11 for a third person. Really?! We were only there for 1 night. Definitely does not warrant an extra 15% for one extra person. The room was terrible. There was a piece of gum stuck on the side of the bed. The breakfast they offer is a joke. Coffee, cereal, and cold two or three day old danishes. The reservations clerk didn't know what she was doing, she couldn't find our reservation, and when I showed it to her from my phone, she made a joke about being blind. She then stated that the king room that I had reserved was not ready, and that she could place us in a double queen room. I told her that I paid for a king and furthermore; I had called the day before to confirm that we could arrive earlier to dress for a wedding. The block of rooms had been previously reserved, it was clear that they were short staffed and not prepared. The line was out the door, she kept radioing for help, when finally another employee arrived. She apologized and straightened out the reservation. The key wouldn't work, apparently the system was down. My husband went to the lobby three times to have the key changed to o no avail. They let us in so we could prepare for the event and told us if the key still didn't work, to come to the lobby by 11:00 P.M. and they would let us in. The room had a foul odor, the door frame was broken in areas, and the bed was hard as a rock. Never again!!!!!!! read more
