My husband and I recently took a trip to Smicksburg, PA, about an hour from Pittsburgh. It was nice to get out of the city and enjoy the country roads. Smicksburg is a quaint little town with charming country stores. We visited Our Twist of Country furniture store, where my husband found a recliner chair he fell in love with. The salesperson was very helpful in picking out the wood stain and fabric. Now, we're just waiting for six weeks to pick it up. For lunch, we went to the Country Junction restaurant. The service was fast, and the meal was very tasty. My husband had the roast beef and mashed potatoes. He mentioned the beef was a bit dry, but the gravy helped. I had the junction turkey, which was shredded turkey on a piece of stuffing bread - it was delicious, and I'm glad I got the gravy on the side. We were tempted to try the blueberry pie but decided against it when we learned it wasn't made in-house. The cream pies are made in-house, though. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by how reasonably priced the meal was. Make The Shop @ Greentree Lumber a must on your list of stops. The food is good down home country cooking! If you like that then this is the place for you. I ordered country fried steaks and eggs for breakfast and it was cooked perfectly. My husband had the buckwheat pancakes and they were outstanding. The amount of food on the plate is a deal for your money. The prices are really good too. The service was great. It was busy but the speed of service was on point. The food was mostly good no complaint but only one thing in my opinion was bad. My husband and friends stopped in for a bite to eat on a Friday. VERY busy place. Mostly full. Great waitstaff, and the food was phenomenal!

I was visiting the neighborhood to get some home baked Amish items and this place was an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT for their pies. All the pies they have on display are mouthwateringly delicious! I got the apple pie and the chocolate peanut butter pie and both were superb! When you enter the shop, it doesn't look like much. But when you go into their restaurant area, you see the pie display and a full food menu. They have a lot of space for indoor dining. The staff is super friendly. Parking was also quite convenient. Definitely recommend this place and their homemade pies when you are visiting the Amish country! read more

This restaurant was very busy but we were seated in 15 minutes. Got drinks and Cole slaw right away but waited an hour before we got our meal. I got roast beef sandwich and mash potatoes. Beef was good but bread was nothing special and gravy was off. Tasted like packet gravy. Portions were ok but definitely not generous. Wife got turkey sandwich and mash potatoes. She said it was good. We got lemon meringue pie which was delicious. Also got iced cinnamon rolls. They were ok, not a lot of cinnamon. We drove 50 minutes to eat there. We waited over an hour and a half for our food and it never came out. We weren't offered refills on our drinks and we were told multiple times that our food would be out "shortly". Other people came in before us and ordered, ate, and left. We didn't even get our food, so I can't leave a review for it. We walked out. This place was so much better when the Huffs owned it. Quintessential country restaurant fare...Buuuut with more baked goods than anywhere. Well cooked standards of ample portions. Homemade white bread. Had the steak and eggs for a change and the steak was not the typical thin cuts offered for this dish...they were thick slices of really tender beef. Pleasant surprise. We came for the pie--had it and a great meal, too! It was the last hour before closing for the day at lunch on Sunday. Our server was kind and helped explain menu options for us. It's a nice country place where you're likely to see quite a few local Amish residents passing as they walk or buggy home and to church. Everything we ate was delicious and both our lunch specials came with salad and dessert. My wife and I enjoyed three-course meals and a tip for $35 total. We didn't have anything at all to complain about! Free parking lot beside the restaurant. read more

While in Smicksburg there is not a lot to choose from when it comes to food. On our visit we gave the country junction a try. Overall the place is pretty decent and is attached to a small store. The food is similar to what you would find in a country diner. They offer many home-style meals and some dutch entrees as well. On our visit we tried the all you can eat spaghetti (probably not the best thing to order). The meal was decent and had a very low price tag to boot. Overall this is a decent place to grab a bite to eat while visiting Smicksburg PA. read more

Excellent food! I had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy and a slice of their homemade bread! My wife had the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes. Staff was rude with no compassion at all! My pregnant sister and I were shopping in Smickburgh and my sister really had to use the restroom. The owner of the country junction would not let me sister use the restroom since we didn't not eat there. The owner told her to use the port-a-potty outside. Keep in mind it was 20 degrees outside. I just find it rude and unfriendly. We have ate at the country junction multiple times while shopping in Smicksburgh, but we will not longer support them. read more
