I judge a restaurant based on the amount of exposed brick they have on the inside. This place has tons of it. Very nice decor. Very old school yet modern. The appetizers were fantastic. We got the loaded hush puppies and the lobster crab dip. For the entrées we had pasta, French onion burger, and a chicken sandwich. The pasta and the chicken sandwich were excellent, but the burger was just average. Our server was great and the food came out super quick. Definitely a spot we will return to! read more

My wife and I came to National Public House, nestled in downtown Leechburg on a Saturday night in January. The place has a new/rustic feel if that makes sense. It is homey, but new and clean. We had a seat in the back by a big fire place. The service was fast, effective, and friendly. Kenzie did a great job taking care of us. We started out with calamari. It was good, but not much different from other calamari I have had. It came with a mayo based sauce as well as a sweet Thai chili. My wife had the Shroomer, which was a portabella based burger. She really enjoyed it. I had the walleye. It was on a bed of risotto with broccoli and mushrooms. The walleye was blackened. It was a delicious dish. I have been here a few times and it seems as though the plates are hit and miss. The problem is seasoning most of the time. Some times you get food so bland you must use salt and pepper. Burgers are def the go to in places like this. read more

Met my friend during her lunch break and it was a nice experience. The food was good and the people were kind. Lunch is just on the bar side and it was full on a Friday afternoon so plan accordingly. Nothing better than sitting fireside with a glow at the unique and very cool national public house in the little town of Leechburg. The hostess was our first warm hello and she was more than happy to take our annual bd pics in the beautiful staircase. The bar was busy on a Friday night and we enjoyed a beverage. From there Erika took over the fun evening with her friendly professional and extra special service for my birthday celebration. She was outstanding making sure we were not rushed and times it perfectly. The calamari appetizer was served hot which we love and was excellent. Two nice sauces with it. I also had a small side salad which was fresh with the homemade ranch dressing. Yummy. My halibut was delicious with fingerling potatoes and zucchini crispy julienne style and light sauce went well with a nice Chardonnay and my guy's filet was perfectly done and was as tender as could be. Leftovers are in the fridge. Cheesecake with berries and a cup of their best coffee topped off the night. Erika was more than willing to take our fireplace pics to capture the warmth. Always my annual bd celebration and highly recommended to all. Parking lot is right beside the pub. Fine dining with a trendy neighborhood vibe. The food was good, but average. Had the crab sandwich - bland with two very, very small pieces of sun dried tomatoes. It's terrible when you are paying a more than fair price for food and they skimp on the small things. Also the container for the aioli was barely half full for an order of fries. Very sad. This place is well on their way. I don't know how long it's been here but if it weren't for Yelp and GPS we wouldn't have heard about it and we didn't see a sign outside. The place is so cool looking inside. A wartime history buffs dream. The food was pretty good. Great cauliflower soup! I'd pass on the chips but the big pretzel was a table wide hit. It was maybe not as big as I'd like for 8$ but very tasty and not deep fried. We enjoyed the specials and the chai tea cocktails were really good. The beer I saw recently through the window was an astoundingly beautiful milky yellow IPA. I did eat here once, and for some reason I wasn't super impressed with the food, but they have gone through some menu changes and I hope to return one day soon. This is an amazing place to eat in Leechburg! This so good I went two days in a row to grab carry out lunch! The grilled chicken sandwich is the best one that I have ever eaten. I ordered it as a carry out and the service was fast and hot! I plan to go again to eat in as the ambiance is wonderful and in a great location with plenty of nearby parking. This was a highly anticipated dinner due to the high reviews, but unfortunately was a disappointment. Service was very good, ambiance was very nice, but food quality was lacking . Salmon portion was small for the price, and was overcooked. Green beans seemed a bit old, as they were late season, and not cleaned well as there were stems on three beans. Mashed potatoes were great. Adding a small side salad was very expensive. With no bread included. Meal was a very poor value. Longhorn Steakhouse a much better option. read more

Everything I've had here is really good. I'm a chicken Marsala fanatic and order it every time it's on a menu. This had great flavor. It came with some fried brussel sprouts which I found to be a little too greasy to be the side with this dish. I'd definitely get it again but maybe substitute the Brussels sprouts with something else. The service is always great. I love the building and decor. My wife and I have wanted to try this local establishment. We went there when it was the Twisted Thistle and we enjoyed the experience. So we went to NPH with a great hope for a nice experience at a new place. Overall, it was.....just....ok. As far as the ambiance, it's still a lovely, cozy, warm place with lots of dark wood tones and tin ceilings. It's inviting to be sure. We were greeted warmly and our server was very nice. We ordered drinks, cab sav for Lisa and a Manhattan for me. Both arrived in good time and we both enjoyed them. Our appetizer was the ahi-tuna nachos. Well crafted with great tasing aioli and nicely fried wontons...a tad light with the amount of tuna, but it was also prepared well. For dinner, Lisa ordered a salad with salmon. Not a side salad, mind you...a 'dinner' salad. Sadly, it was portioned as a side salad. And the vinaigrette was not good at all. Seemed to have corn or tapioca starch added since it was lumpy and not at all appetizing. The greens were average and the salmon was well prepared. So if you're going to offer a 'not' side salad with salmon at that price and on the small size, you really have to knock that out of the park....but it was below average. I ordered the Blackened mahi with fries. Because of some problem in the kitchen, it came out about 15 minutes after my wife got her dinner. It was served on a metal tray and not a plate. No problem. How was the taste? The flavors of the sandwich were well crafted and I give a thumbs up for the combo of great flavors and textures. The mahi was seasoned well. The baguette was not the bread choice I would have made. It was a well made roll, but a bit too chewy for that type of sandwich. And the bread was about 25% larger than the mahi inside. The fries were disappointing. Not at all crispy and a bit too dark for me. We did not order dessert. 2 additional notes....our table wobbled badly and we both wished for more non-meat options on the menu...but these are not at all dealbreakers. So we're glad we went and wish them well. We could see coming again for drinks and that wonderful ahi tuna nacho (or maybe other appetizers) but probably not for dinner. read more

We went on a busy Friday night. It was crowded with holiday folks and very loud. The service was good. The classic pub burger and beet salad were delicious! The wedge salad was tasty but way too large and challenging to eat due to it's enormous size so it is definitely shareable. We may go back but probably not for dinner on the weekend. My wife and I went to celebrate our anniversary, having read some good reviews but not having gone here since it was the Twisted Thistle. We were met by an extremely pleasant hostess who showed us to a table for two in an alcove by the front window. Kennedy was our server and she could absolutely not have more pleasant and attentive during our meal. I enjoyed the salmon and my wife had the short rib stuffed ravioli. Both were excellent. We finished off our meal with cannoli cake dessert and coffee. What a wonderful anniversary dinner. We will be back! read more

We stopped by here around 1:30 on a Monday and it was not very crowded. The space used to be a hotel and the dining room was rustic yet classy, with large windows looking out onto the street. The menu is simple but everything on it looked good. I had the blackened chicken pasta and it was excellent. The pasta was cooked to a tee and creamy, and the chicken had a delicious crust and was tender. Our waitress was prompt and friendly and explained a little of the history of the building when I asked. The prices felt appropriate and the dishes are filling. Based on my experience here I would absolutely recommend it, even if it's a bit of a drive! read more

I am glad to see new ownership, with a previous successful track record, renovate the space and bring delicious meals to the area. The service is attentive and the cocktail and beer list is impressive. They are promoting weekly specials in addition to their solid menu and they don't hesitate to try something new. My sister and I stopped for a late lunch/early dinner on a Wednesday. Service was excellent and friendly. The food was amazing! Everything fresh and hot. I had the blackened Mahi Mahi with fries. The blackening was flavorful without being too salty. The bun was fresh and the seasoning was delicious. My sister had the salmon and a side salad with balsamic dressing. The "sister" restaurant BOTL is phenomenal. This place, not so much. I'd recommend getting Scott from BOTL (savant chef) to consult & rescue. Hoping for success. Great find thanks n a special community. The NPH is a unique restaurant with a unique style. The service from when you enter until you leave was fabulous! Not hovering but friendly and engaging. Started with three hors d'oeuvres. the Brussel sprouts, flat bread and the chips.The Brussel sprouts were amazing and the flat bread could have been a meal by itself. Tasty and a good size, should Have stopped there. But as expected ordered another beer to have with the Pub Burger. Great tasting and the onion straws were like icing on the cake. Burger was cooked perfectly and the aioli really compliments the burger. Definitely will be back tp check out their other entrees (the beet salad was well received by a few in the party). By the time it got there, the pasta was hard, cold and clumpy; the scallops were rotted to the point that they smelled like strong ammonia. We were visiting my Mother in law. She wanted to take us out for a nice dinner. She wanted try this place. She lives in Leechburg We walked in. The hostess was in the phone. Never acknowledged we were there. Walked away on the phone. Two other waitresses walked in. Didn't ask if they could help. Hostess finally comes in. Seats us at our table. Waitress come up. We ask questions about the menu. She asked us what we wanted to drink. Brought us our drinks that took awhile. She said she would be right back she needed to help another table. We sat there for 40 minutes. She never came back to our table. Said anything to us. Even though she walked by a dozen times. Not sure what she was doing in the back. We got up and left.
