Great place to shop for meats, and vegetables. They also have a wide variety of anything you might need for your pantry, refrigerator, or freezer. They also have flowers, and such. It's a small place that packs a huge punch of goodies. Some of the meats can be a little pricey, but they do have specials from time to time. I like nothing more than a good old-fashioned store like this. I have no problem paying extra for good quality. Their Pork Tenderloin is the BEST hands down. Their bacon and ground chuck is also good. On the other hand, their rib-eye steaks and pork chops are very wide in quality. Another reason for only four stars is CUSTOMER SERVICE. I do not like feeling that I am imposing every time I patronize your store. If management ever looks at these reviews you might want to think about this. read more

My absolute favorite grocery store in Springfield. I love the old fashioned feel to this place, fruit displayed in baskets with brown paper bags nearby, the displays out in front of the store, the meat counter, it just makes me feel happy to shop here. And I'm supporting a local business and local farmers. Great customer service here too. No matter how busy they are, they work hard to get you what you want and the cashier is always pleasant. I was surprised one day when the owner asked me by name if I needed anything. She remembered me from my order for Thanksgiving. Now that is something! Great produce, baked goods and meat in town. I adore this place. I tend to eat fairly healthy, and this store makes it easy, for a fair price. Plus I love knowing that I'm buying local. Some things I've really appreciated: They sell spinach in individual ziplock bags so you can purchase a smaller amount. I hate spending 3-4 bucks on a container at the grocery store and having to throw away half of it because I can't finish it, and then feel like I wasted the $. Spending only a buck fifty, I can buy a reasonable amount and not have my feelings hurt if I accidentally forget about it. The meat I've purchased has been incredibly fresh. Seriously. Chicken breasts: phenomenal. Flank steak: scrumptious. Italian sausage: never tasted fresher. No joke. They offer gluten free mixes, spices, and lunch meat. I haven't purchased any of these things, but I do eat gluten free, so knowing the option there is nice. Can't say enough good about this place. Glad I stumbled upon it. Keep up the good work. This is a nice market. My rating today is to recognize their great customer service. I was looking for a particular item, (Amish Wedding Lemon Marmalade.). They didn't have it, but with just my phone call, they add it to their stock! (By the way, if you have never tried Amish Wedding Lemon Marmalade, you should! It is DELICIOUS--particularly on an English muffin.). This will be the only store within 50 miles to stock this product, so I will be coming back here regularly, for sure! I should also mention the other great things they have to offer. The outside is always so inviting--stocked with all the best of the season. So, Country Market has saved me while Im living in Springfield for a few months. Literally, saved me. Their meat counter is really great, lots of fresh, local, organic meats. Same with their fruits, vegetables and dairy products. For how small the place is they actually have a huge variety of specialty items. All sorts of sauces, jams, nuts, lots of Amish products (amazing fresh Amish wedding noodles!), local homemade breads, pies and other bakery items. You literally feel like you are in a little country market. Sure the prices are a bit higher than the chain grocery store around the corner, but the quality is much higher as well, the people are friendly and helpful, you are supporting a local business and products and you are super glad you spent that extra 75 cents when you are eating an amazing steak or chicken casserole. read more

I agree with the above reviews. It's nice to shop in a small clean store that has everything I need. And as of this week, CM started selling IL-raised lamb and will add veal to the selection this weekend. The lamb is superb! We enjoy the locally-raised meat. especially the Amish chicken. It arrives very fresh and I feel very safe buying meat from here. The store supports local produce growers whenever possible. If you haven't shopped here, you should. Yes by all means give the big supermarkets a break. You might actually save money shopping here, support local businesses and farmers in the process. read more

I really like what this grocer is attempting to do, bringing an artisan sensibility to the Springfield area. Unfortunately I believe they suffer a bit from low foot traffic. In February 2014, I purchased a trail mix with a "best if used by" date of December 2009. Sadly, if it weren't for this, I'd rate them 5 stars.
