Drove from Spokane today (about 2 hours), just to go here. We brought a cooler with ice since it was a hot 85+ degree day. We ate lunch first. I had the pork tamale plate and my wife had a turkey sandwich. My house made tamales were excellent. The rice was standard rice but the white beans were great. All in all a great tamale plate. My wife's sandwich was took big for lunch (I could have eaten the whole thing), so she brought home half for dinner. Next was the produce room. Mostly fruit today. They were having a bogo on cherries and we got a couple peaches as well. They had a wide selection of apples. We were hoping for more veggies. In the sauces/jam area, I picked up a steak marinade. The prices were high but they had a huge selection and it all seemed 'small batch'. The candy/chocolate section is amazing. So many choices. I got cashew brittle and a few other goodies. We ended up at the prepared foods and got some burritos for dinners. Skipped by the ice cream today, but it looked great. A fun day trip and a ton of stuff to treat your with. read more

I really love this place. The atmosphere is friendly and decorative and the servers are helpful. The sandwiches in the deli are great!! The chocolate covered nut samples always cause me to end up buying a few varieties and taking them home. The various chocolate and flavored candies are great as well. They make small loaves of different flavored breads that are priced right at $1.95. The dips and jams are to die for I love the ice cream too. Last time I was there I bought some take out enchiladas. That said, I can tell you this is NOT the place to buy enchiladas. They simply did not cut it. The tortillas were too thick, they were too thick with cheese, and the taste was limited. Nice little stop in Eltopia- the candy section was the biggest draw for us. Delicious treats of every imaginable variety. There was a sandwich/lunch counter, but we stuck with coffee and some treats from the candy side and the market itself. Been comin' here for 20+, and this was the first time we've ordered sandwiches. All good! They're priced accordingly for 2025, but meats were robust, and flavors were great---just as put together by their young kitchen staff with no modifications. Kudos to them. Just stopped for the first time! Loved it! The chips and salsa we bought were restaurant quality and so good! The breakfast burrito and egg sandwich were both excellent. Passing through on a road trip and this is the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat (made to order deli) and to stretch your legs while wandering around the vast inside. So much to look at! It's filled with all sorts of jams, sauces, pasta, flavored oils, fresh produce and tons of candy and freshly made chocolates. Don't pass up their salsas!! They offer some take and bake entrees that are great as well (enchiladas, tamales, etc). Service at the counter was nice, though a bit indifferent. This place has gone really downhill. We visit this place a lot because it is local. We picked up two veggie mercantile sandwiches this evening and their bean dip. It is way over priced for what you get. The quality of food is no longer worth the extra price. My sandwich barely had anything on it and most of it was just bread. Their quality control is awful because sometimes we get great sandwiches BUT most of the time now we get sandwiches that are not worth the price! Country Mercantile is a family owned business that started in Pasco, Washington in 1996 as a produce stand. Over the years, it has grown into what can only be described as a must-see destination for food lovers. Here you will find a dazzling array of Northwest gourmet foods, as well as handmade chocolates and fudge made on site. They also have homemade ice cream, gelato, salsa, chips, tamales, enchiladas, and bread. They have a deli, where they make fresh sandwiches to order, as well as homemade soup. I first learned about Country Mercantile a couple of years ago. I've been wanting to visit ever since. This trip, I went out of my way to check it out, and I am glad I did. I could tell from the moment I stepped through the door that this experience was going to far exceed my high expectations. I spent over two hours just taking photos. Cute store and deli. Stopped here for lunch the other day. They have 2 vegetarian sandwiches options. They have gluten free rolls and wraps for making a sandwich or wrap. I got the gluten free roll with the mercantile veggie. It was good. The pickle was a little over powering so I removed some. Good sandwich over all and I did not get sick. My mom got the same sandwich on whole wheat. She was happy the bread was toasted. She didn't think there was too much pickle. My step dad got the prime rib dip and said it was really good. read more

I wish I could say that this is the first time I've experienced subpar food at the merc, but it's happened every time I've visited this past year. Cold tamales, completely wrong takeout orders that staff isn't allowed to refund (I had to make another trip out there to claim my two replacement sandwiches that day, or not at all ), barely warm brisket sandwich. It's exactly what you'd expect. A country mercantile that has a little bit of everything. Some you may need and even more that you don't, but that's the point. A great place to stop for a bite to eat or some ice cream during a road trip, a great destination all in itself for the salsa and chips. I've yet to have anything that I wouldn't buy again, both ready to eat and "grocery" type items. Take each review with a grain of salt, but if you're expecting a 3 star Michelin experience, I'd just keep on driving. read more

The chocolate/candy area and grocery section of this place is great. They seem to be inconsistent at best in the deli. We ordered an Italian sandwich and a couple of smoothies, the sandwich was 1star, the mixed berry smoothie was great and the peach smoothie tasted like a watered down peach icy. Last time we ate here we hoped it was a one off bad day, but this is the second time we've had this experience. If we drop by, we'll definitely stick to ice cream or the grocery/chocolate section. read more

Have driven by this place many times but was hungry and decided to stop in. It was insanely busy, but our sandwich and salad came out in a pretty reasonable amount of time. Toasted turkey sandwich was tasty, but a little small for $14 dollars. The chefs salad was a solid size. It was pretty expensive for lunch for two ($30), but it was super easy on/off in an RV, and would likely stop again. Coffee was good too! read more

This place is the cutest merchantile I've ever been to! They have a wide selection of chocolates, candies, jams, sauces, drinks, fresh produce, deli sandwiches, and ice cream. Big store of specialty items from jams, honey, candy, bread to fresh fruits and vegetables. They also have pre-made food items like tamales, for family dinners. Dried soup mixes. Ice cream bar with a section of gelato. A food bar as well to order breakfast or lunch, with seating. Small room of county style decorative items. It was not too busy when I went, I was not greeted and I did pass a worker as I entered. I found a moldy bread that I took to the checker, they thanked me of course. Figured it best to get off the shelf. Prices were a bit high. This establishment is right off the highway and ample parking. Some of the fresh fruit was not fresh, raspberries had seen better days. I do realize this fruit is hard to keep. I picked up nectarines and plums and local honey on my trip. read more

It's like Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, but better. We bought a variety of fudge, peanut butter cups, truffles, chocolate covered almonds, gummy bears, just a lot of sugar. And everything tastes so good! They also have a tiny bakery section to the side that shouldn't be overlooked because they make amazing bread. We got the pesto sourdough, 10/10. Haven't checked out the produce section yet, but we love their gelato. Peach and cappuccino flavors are my personal favorites. They also have quite an extensive breakfast/lunch menu, allowing you to enjoy a nice hot meal in between all the chocolate sampling and shopping. Large parking lot with plenty of room for trucks or RVs, nice spot to walk the dogs. Their fruit isn't the cheapest but they have a fresh supply with a lot of variety. Peaches and apples were delicious. They have a chart showing what is fresh which is very helpful. I'm looking forward to Walla Walla Sweets and the ears of corn. The sandwiches are delicious. I highly recommend the Focaccia bread. I always buy 5 or more of the fresh salsa. This time Hawaiian, Mango, Habanero, Mad Max, and Walla Walla Onion and corn. 2 bags of fresh chips and the nachos will be perfection. The tamales were scrumptious and the special burrito was huge. Prior to covid, this was one of my favorite places to get goodies, salsa, canned veggies and fruit and fresh bread. They had samples galore so you could try everything. There was an incredible salsa bar with fresh chips. Now that covid is here to stay, the samples are no longer. But their chips and salsa are still something you gotta try. If you buy two salsas you get half off a bag of chips. I've tried just about every flavor of salsa...Mad Max, Walla Walla Sweet Onion, Fiery Mad Max, Habenero, Garlic ..they are all so good I honestly can't hardly choose so I just get them all and bounce between them all when I get home. They have other items worth stopping for, some are kinda spendy, some are worth it. Definitely get some chips and salsa! read more

Wow!!!! Stopped here for lunch while on a work trip and was not expecting this amazing spot. They have a chocolate factory making everything your little heart every desired. Including the most amazing chocolate covered apples! OMG!! After you are done drooling you can head over the counter to order some amazing food. I got the meatball sub and others got the tamales! YUM! You can then head to the farmers market where they have fresh veggies/fruit and then if that wasn't enough they have homemade ice cream and a little home Goods shop...I need more than a lunch hour in here. I am reviewing their chocolates and truffles. I bought some of Country Mercantile's truffles and chocolate-covered strawberries and chocolate-covered mango pieces upon the recommendation of a very trusted chocolate connoisseur who had enjoyed them a few years previously. I was so disappointed! All of their chocolates used to be so delectable! What happened? These truffles were wildly expensive and yet tasted like melted chocolate wafers covering cheap powdered-sugar frosting. The flavors were weak, bland, overly sweet, and disgusting - like those awful nougat cream-filled Whitman's samplers at the grocery store! Barf! The mango pieces were spicy and tasted revolting! ​​They were somewhat gooey inside, unlike a real piece of dried mango. Bleh! The hard chocolate-covered dried strawberries, which should have been excellent were also terrible-tasting instead! They were overly sweet, cheap-tasting, and everything tasted like cheap candy-coating! What a total waste of my hard-earned money, and what a huge disappointment in what was supposed to be a delightful Easter treat! Never again will I buy these or recommend them to anyone. Only the coffee truffle and the raspberry truffle actually contained any chocolate ganache, and even those truffles had just a mediocre flavor. Even the mint truffle was disappointing, as it was another one of those awful cream-filled pieces of nastiness! If you want delectable truffles which are a pure slice of heaven, I recommend Crystal's Creme de le Creme​ in Prosser, on Sixth Street, located next to Trinity Dance. I must issue a caveat here, though: I have not actually sampled Crystal's truffles since this shop changed ownership from Jade's, and Jade is no longer making the truffles there. I will update once I have sampled her selection of truffles. However, everything else in Crystal's tastes incredible just like Jade's did, so I am hopeful that the truffles are still amazing. I am not alone in my experience with Country Mercantile's truffles, as other friends have had the same disappointing experience! I shall not waste my money on their chocolate ever again! Their ice cream is apparently still good, however. I hope that their other food is still good as well. This is one of my favorite shops, so I was very sad to see that it had succumbed to the dark side of using poor-quality ingredients and imitation flavorings! read more

Was looking for the best French Dip in town. They make a huge sandwich. Lots of meat with a nice soft roll. Pretty good dipping sauce. The only thing it lacked was some horseradish to put on. Love their selection of salsa's, bread, jams, candy, and of course the deli. Give it a try you will be impressed. read more

Staffs not really masked up but will wear gloves when handling food there was a large number of people as well and it was 50/50 masked up as well. We purchased fudge and icecream/Gelato. Never thought I'd be doing a review on what seems like a genuine tourist trap out in the agricultural country of the Tri Cities area. But I went along with our small group as a reluctant Shanghaied member. Getting out there, we found this giant parking lot surrounding this barn like store. Must have been a hundred cars. At first, it looked like a candy, kitch, cum restaurant. I thought, I am not going to like this. But being hungry, at least I'll get lunch out of this. Approaching, the menu board I noticed everything was the same price, $7.49. Prime rib French dip sandwich, meatball sandwich, and-and 3 tamales! Now being a tamale junky I knew what I was going to have. And what a surprise these were. A chicken, a pork and a beef tamale were some of the best I have had. Good sized, tasty masa harina with a fine consistency that held together, and great meat fillings. Now, this isn't fine dining, served on a paper plate with just some tomato sauce in a cup and sour cream, but these were great tamales, especially for $7.49. The candy by the pound was also enticing, especially to a licorice hound like me. Also fresh produce abounded in their store. The growing season is about a month and a half longer here than Boise which is almost 2500 ft higher. Now for the Pièce de résistance of irony. We are going to drop by this place and bring home some tamales and fresh peaches when we leave. Maybe this is really a 5 star place when you decide to return? Good thing we brought the ice chest. We had take out sandwiches-a pastrami on rye and your special a Reuben. The sandwiches were almost $14.00 a piece and they were very very small. Hardly any pastrami on either sandwich and the rye bread was hard in place and inedible. We asked for asparagus on both and got it wasn't on one. It also not busy with only on one other lone sandwich order. I was asked several times if I wanted to order by different clerks finally I asked where was my order. Your help seemed to be busy talking to each other in the back room. Country Merc has always been our go to place and we have recommended to many people passing through plus we have met many friends and family there for lunch. We have decided not to come back. All of the ingredients were super fresh, good meats and a tasty, lightly spicy mayo. My wife had a smoothie which was sweet and not too thick.
