pigging out on the prime rib. busting that buffet on Friday night
    Kevin D.

#39/2022 Wow is it really been since 2019 since I reviewed this? Well there it is me eating like a pig off the buffet back then postin that review. Fact on Yelp I'm the one that created the page and yes there's a bunch of videos from back then me oinking away I forgot about that LOL. butl changed world we're in now Buffet is gone but the Country pride is still here. Open every day from 6:00 until 9:00 due to staffing issues but nice and clean inside I was served by Victoria young girl was very professional and did a great job and I sat down greeting me with the menu and asked me for a drink got diet Pepsi. Basically like all the other country prides now this is no longer an independently owned Beto junction travel plaza it's ta fully owned the Wendy's is still here but this is for the Country pride portion the huge restaurant back in the day when it was independent is still here most of it was coordinate off though it wasn't very busy. But I came and ready to eat and decide to have a chicken fried steak something I haven't had for quite some time and I want what to smash taters and did brown gravy on the whole shebang. Didn't want a salad or soup today so they said you could have ended the other side I got some corn. Corn was a little dry it was frozen kind but it didn't have a whole lot of flavor so I got some extra gravy and sauced it up. Because he is if I will be pretty much protocol the chicken fried steak was delicious the mashed potatoes were good so no complaints there. Prices have gone up a little bit it was 20 bucks without the tip now it's about 14.99 for a dinner at the Petro and ta truck stops and drinks are 329 but signof the times and that's the way it goes. All in all I'm not dropping down any stars I'm not adding any stars it was a little bit better than average so therefore the four stars remain and hopefully keep up the good work when I'm doing one of these runs from bowling Green Kentucky to emporia Kansas I definitely will still hit it up.

Cute diner located right off the highway. I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast. Everything was great except the hash browns were a bit greasy. The waitress was friendly and frequently checked in on us. The quotes carved into each booth were fun to read.

Very average food - great place to stop on a road trip to support local restaurants! The women working are friendly and the wait wasn't long at all. It seems to be a local favorite; it was pretty busy.

New menu has alot taken off plus no kids menu. Hardly anything on the breakfast menu and no longer pancakes an option for toast.

Fabulous fish fry! Crunchy crust with a nice flaky fish. Would definitely recommend this one.

We have booked another hunt this year in which Mike will guide us using his well trained dogs and we will come back to the lodging area where we will have chili and cinnamon rolls made by Beth. I'm looking forward to this year's hunting trip this December as well!

We purchased 8 package hunts and 9 extra Chuckers for a Total of $1300 cash. This Hunt was supposed to include 56 pheasant and 9 chuckars to be released. We were required to pay up front when we arrived at noon. We began hunting at 12:45. We had shot 18 pheasant and 5 chuckars within the first 45 minutes of the hunt. We then walked until 3:30 and got 3 more pheasant and 2 chucker. The owner said his dogs were tired and the hunt was over. I expressed my displeasure with the amount of birds we had seen. The owner said that's how it goes. Anyone can buy 21 pheasant and 7 chuckers from an Aviary for around $300. . That means the owner has less than $150 invested. We saw maybe a total of 30 pheasant. Planted birds do not run away! This was described by the owner as a great hunt, right up until he got our cash. Then the excuses started. Observations: #1 owner is old, dishonest, greedy! #2 The dogs were not trained well, were old and out of shape. #3 I am certain that no more that 30 birds were released that day I don't want to see anyone else get taken advantage of by these people. Do not give them your business. Buy your own birds and release them yourself. If you cant find land, I have 60 acres you can use at no charge. As long as we seem to be of the same outlook on life. There also many reputable reserves like this in Kansas. Do your research and ask friends and family. The 2 5 star reviews have to be bogus.

Wait and wait. I finally had to ask someone where our waitress was. She finally shows up. Takes our order. Brings drinks. Had to ask for straws. Didn't come back with refills. Had to ask. Showed up with meal. Had to ask twice for ketchup. Green beans didn't come with meal. Had to wait for those. Waitress was busy talking to table next to us. Then she goes behind counter and starts talking to 2 men. I waved my hands at her to get her attention and she rolled her eyes at me! So much so the 2 guys turned around and looked at me. I asked her why she was so angry. She of course denied it. I needed 2 drinks to go, pie to go, box and the check. She was horrid. Super bad attitude. And the place was only about half full so not that busy. The food is good but we've noticed a drop in service. I shouldn't have to track down the waitress and have her get an attitude when we need things. We still gave her a tip but she really deserved none. Makes me reconsider not going back. We eat out a lot and her demeanor for a server was inexcusable. Find a new line of work.
