DONT STOP HERE ! Employees have personal issues and are not focused on meeting the customer needs. Food was cold and bathrooms were filthy.

The food here is really great, the service is outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a good down home cooked meal.

My parents and I stumbled across this place on our way home, and what a find it was. From the…read moremoment we stepped inside, we knew we were somewhere special. The exposed brick and thoughtful décor struck the perfect balance--classic and nostalgic with just the right touch of modern style. We were immediately welcomed by the sweetest hostess (I hate that I can't remember her name--she had glasses, a beautiful smile, and the cutest dress). She greeted us with genuine warmth and hospitality that's hard to come by these days. She led us into the main dining room and seated us at a charming table dressed in crisp white linens. The space featured more exposed brick, tasteful artwork, and just the right amount of décor. The temperature was perfect, and the tables were spaced far enough apart to create an intimate, relaxed atmosphere. Our waiter arrived promptly and was both friendly and knowledgeable. He clearly knew his craft and took the time to walk us through the specials, making sure we felt confident and excited about our choices. We ordered sweet tea, which was perfectly brewed--not overly sweet, just right. The complimentary peanut butter and crackers were something new to us, but after reading about the history behind it, we appreciated the thoughtful touch even more. Our food arrived quickly, and everything was fresh and cooked to order. We tried the spicy chicken sandwich, the cheeseburger, and a special featuring a panini with a cup of gumbo. Each entrée came with perfectly cooked homemade chips. Every bite was spot-on--truly a 10 out of 10. Even though we were full, we couldn't resist ordering dessert--when in Rome, right? We chose the peanut butter pie and the famous Black Bottom pie. After one bite of those generously sized slices, we all paused and just looked at each other. I don't exaggerate when I say we unanimously agreed they were the best pies we've ever had. What started as a plan to sample a few bites and take the rest to go ended with two completely empty plates. We consider ourselves food lovers, and I genuinely couldn't find a single flaw in the entire experience. We live nearly three hours away and are already planning a trip back. If you've made it this far in my amateur review, thank you--and I truly hope you get the chance to experience this wonderful, history-filled gem for yourself.

I ordered the fajitas and was disappointed cause there was barely any steak. The cheese dip, however, was really good. The atmosphere was decent, and the place was busy, which is usually a good sign. We did run into a bit of a language barrier when trying to order something specific and ended up with a dish that wasn't what we wanted. That said, the staff were all very kind and the hostess was especially sweet. Would I come back? Maybe! I might give it another chance and try something different next time

We were greeted promptly and seated right away. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and even let me practice my Spanish, which made the experience even better. It has a warm family vibe. We started with the Fried Yucca (pronounced YOO‑kah), lightly fried and served with a slightly sweet dipping sauce. Absolutely outstanding -- 10/10. The Chorizo Dip was another hit: cheesy, hot, and just a touch spicy. 9/10. For entrées, we ordered the Monarca's Cazuelita, a crock-style dish loaded with steak, chicken, shrimp, chorizo, pineapple, cheese, and bell pepper. Everything was well‑seasoned with fantastic flavor. 10/10. The Chicken Burrito was also excellent -- another 10/10. I'm very critical when reviewing restaurants, especially Mexican food, but this is genuinely the best I've had on this side of the border. The flavors were bold, the portions generous, and the service top‑notch. It was so good we ended up getting takeout the very next day. Monarca absolutely lives up to the hype.

Overall experience 3.5 stars…read more Ambiance: 3.5 Stars Located in North Hills / Popular Springs, the restaurant is an open concept and has multiple tables for seating. It is clean and was decorated with different Middle Eastern pictures and homey items. Service: 3.75 Stars The family own and operated staff are friendly and professional. They made some recommendations and we ordered our food. It took about 15 minutes for the food to arrive. Food: 3.5 Stars The Turkish coffee was wonderful. Robust and had the hint of cardamom, cinnamon and other spices. Though a hot drink, it was refreshing to taste. 3.5 Stars We had the Lamb and Chicken Gyros. Both were large and tasty. However, some parts of the meat were slightly dry. The fresh, hot fries were a delight. Appetizer: 3 Stars The fried Sambosa was ok. It tasted more "store" bought than homemade. The chicken was good but I was expecting chicken peas or other veggies in it too. The seasoning was ok. Dessert: 2.75 Baklava- the order came with one pastry cut into two small pieces. Not a shareable item. You could put both pieces in your mouth. Too small and it tasted "store bought" again. I could be wrong and it not a major criticism. Just more of an observation and a reference what I won't order the next time we stop by. Overall: we will be back to taste other food options and the friendly staff.
