    Garden omelette with country potatoes
    Jacquelin S.

We were going to an event on the west side of Woodland so decided to try Country Waffles for breakfast. I had noticed it when we had stopped by Raleys a few weeks back. We arrived a little after 9 a.m. on a Saturday. The restaurant had quite a few customers already, but we were seated right away. We were given a choice of booth or table. We asked for a booth for the extra seating room. I ordered the garden omelette and my husband had the plain waffle. For my starch side dish I ordered the half waffle. The waffles were freshly prepared but mine was a bit raw inside. They had a distinctive vanilla flavor so really didn't need syrup to be tasty. I didn't eat much of the country potatoes because they will be much better heated up in the air fryer at home. The omelette was large, stuffed with vegetables, and quite filling. I brought home more than half. From conversations around us, we could tell that most of the customers were regulars, known to the staff. They were greeted and teased and asked if they wanted their usual. It made me want to live closer so that we could become regulars too. The bathroom was clean and the photos of classic cars on the wall of the hallway leading to the bathrooms was fun to view.

10/10 breakfast spot! The waffles are my favorite especially with a side of country potatoes! Service/ waitresses are nice and it's always a great experience

Me and my girlfriend walked in and were told to wait 15-20 minutes to get a table. We waited 30-40 waiting for a table come to find out they skipped over our name. We get a table we order our food we wait 20 minutes for our food it comes out the wrong order. I have to then wait an additional 20 minutes to get my chicken and waffles and the waitress comes out with the most dried looking chicken I've ever seen. I was done with waiting so I decided to not eat it, send it back and just eat at a fast food place. The manager walks up to us to check on if I'm upset (I wasn't I was just tired of waiting) and she made it seem like everything was our fault. She didn't offer anything to make up for all these mistakes. Definitely will not be returning to this establishment. Maybe if one day I feel like waiting 2 hours for terrible looking food I'll consider coming back. P.S the manager said the chicken and waffles looked "bomb" and that I should've given them a chance. Let me know what you think with the pictures below lmao

Still the best waffles around, not to mention the coffee. Polite service without bothering you every 2 minutes, just a nice place for breakfast or lunch.

Country Waffles is the best breakfast place I have tried in town. I came here on a Saturday morning and there wasn't much of a wait. I ordered the steak and eggs with sautéed onions and mushrooms. I did not want any potatoes so I ordered a side of tomatoes instead. I ordered my steak medium rare and the steak came out just as I ordered it! Many places would normally overcook my steak but not this time. The sautéed onions and mushrooms definitely made the steak taste better. The service was great and my coffee cup was never empty. I would definitely come back and try the other items on the menu!

    Bacon and eggs. Delicious bacon.

Loved Country Waffles. It was recommended to us by a local and it did not disappoint. I had the basic eggs bacon and hash browns. The eggs came out too runny so sent back to cook a tad more. They had absolutely no problem doing that. lol and it came out just the way I like it. The bacon was delicious and so were the hash browns. Very good.

sad, sad, sad breakfast. These oily raw potatoes are what they call "extra crispy". There's nothing crisp about them at all!

Does this look like a sad breakfast? (see photo) Because it is. Very. I called in my order and both my wife and I requested extra crispy hashbrowns. They told me it would be done in 10min, I said "it'll take me 15min to get there so take your time, no hurry." Well, they obviously hurried anyway, because the food is cold (even though I live 5min from the restaurant), and these hashbrowns have seen the griddle for about as long as a rare steak. They are also sopping wet with oil. Disgusting. The restaurant was EMPTY too. So it's not like they had other customers to help. Im really sick of the food never being up to expectations. It makes me sad that my wife likes their benedict so much, otherwise I'd never go back. One of my favorite breakfast dishes is country fried steak, and the one from this joint tastes like it came from a microwaved TV dinner. Country Waffles makes Denny's and IHOP look like they deserve a michelin star.

This has to be the best place in Woodland for breakfast and I am sure their lunch items are great too! This was our first time coming here because we are tired of the awful service and food at Black Bear diner. If you don't go to this place for breakfast you are missing out in life!

It's a nice little place, not too many tables or booths, plus it also has counter space, as well as a few outdoor tables. Pictures, signs, and knickknacks adorn the walls. The menu is decent sized. I decided to go with the "kitchen sink omelette." ham, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, it even had green bell pepper. Normally, I don't care for green bell pepper, but everything in the omelette was chopped up really fine, and so it didn't bother me. I asked for fruit instead of potatoes, and she told me all they had was canned peaches. I like canned peaches, so, That was OK with me. I also asked for coffee, but they said they didn't have any anymore because they were closing soon. They were open for another 45 minutes, they were still taking in customers, including people arriving after me , yet they decided to stop serving coffee? OK...... The omelette was pretty good. They were generous with the fillings, and everything played well with each other. The one thing I didn't care about the omelette was the fact that it was made with American cheese. I love American cheese on a burger, but in an omelette, it just doesn't do it for me. To me, in an omelette, American cheese, kind of overtakes the flavor of everything, including the delicate flavor of the eggs. It was OK, I should've asked what type of cheese they used. Overall, the meal was good, and the price was reasonable. I would stop by again. Thanks.

These hash browns are nice and crispy on the top and soft and potatoey underneath. These hash browns are on the thicker side, but I thoroughly enjoyed them. The rest of the food experience at Black Bear was also good. The eggs were cooked correctly to my order of medium well and the portions here are more generous than other diners in the area. If you're a fan of thicker cut bacon, Black Bear is the place for you. I'm more of a thin and crispy bacon guy, but if you like a girthier slice of bacon, then Black Bear has got you covered. On the sweeter end of the breakfast spectrum, the waffles and pancakes were on par with what I would expect from a diner in town. The waffle is a bit more crispy and thin than you'd expect, but the inside still had a nice softness to it. The pancakes are hearty and will fill you up. It would have been nice if they were a little fluffier and had even more chocolate chips in it (in the case of the chocolate chip pancake). The ambiance in the restaurant is pure Black Bear. There are black bears all over the place and the decor is very woody - like the diner was found in the middle of a forest somewhere. Service was adequate. Overall Black Bear Diner is a solid choice for breakfast or lunch in the town of Woodland. It's comparable to the other morning diners. If coming for dinner, you'll have to go with another review!

I also do think it's because they didn't have another kitchen staff cooking, but definitely was the most miserable waiting experience I've ever had. Our waitress tried her best in getting some fruit out for our hungry toddler, however meltdowns happened and he was not able to sit still until the food came. And I think we were there for about 1-2 hours until our food came. My burger tasted good due to also being hungry as we weren't able to grab a bite to eat before our flight. However it was evident everyone was hungry and trying to not be super irritated. Would not come again if we're all hungry, especially as toddlers cannot wait.
