A little hole in the wall in an industrial area of Woodland, only about two minutes from I-5. I decided to give it a try. Overall, it was OK. It's a nice little place, not too many tables or booths, plus it also has counter space, as well as a few outdoor tables. Pictures, signs, and knickknacks adorn the walls. The menu is decent sized. I decided to go with the "kitchen sink omelette." ham, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, it even had green bell pepper. Normally, I don't care for green bell pepper, but everything in the omelette was chopped up really fine, and so it didn't bother me. I asked for fruit instead of potatoes, and she told me all they had was canned peaches. I like canned peaches, so, That was OK with me. I also asked for coffee, but they said they didn't have any anymore because they were closing soon. They were open for another 45 minutes, they were still taking in customers, including people arriving after me , yet they decided to stop serving coffee? OK...... The omelette was pretty good. They were generous with the fillings, and everything played well with each other. The one thing I didn't care about the omelette was the fact that it was made with American cheese. I love American cheese on a burger, but in an omelette, it just doesn't do it for me. To me, in an omelette, American cheese, kind of overtakes the flavor of everything, including the delicate flavor of the eggs. It was OK, I should've asked what type of cheese they used. We recently visited Country Kitchen and ordered their biscuits and gravy. It was a hit with everyone at home, especially since we used to order it during the Covid pandemic for our parents and friends. The biscuits were fluffy and delicious, and the gravy was creamy and flavorful. This week, we had a craving for our old favorite and decided to order the same thing. We made the same special requests, including extra sausage, but were told that sausage was already in the gravy. We were disappointed and asked for the sausage to be added separately, but they refused. When we got home, we were shocked to find that the biscuits were not fluffy and tasty like before, and instead of the creamy white gravy, they were topped with a brown gravy with no sausage pieces. We suspect that they had puréed the sausage and mixed it into the gravy, but we can't be sure. There was not a single piece of sausage in the dish, and it was the most disgusting sight and taste we've ever had. It seems that the restaurant has sold its business, but it's sad that their recipes were not part of the purchase. We won't be going back to Country Kitchen anytime soon. No never again. Making it clear we expected an extra charge for the request. read more

My family and I went there for a meal during the weekend. It began with forgetting some of our drinks and then bringing only part of an order . When they finally brought the remainder of the order it was very hot and the waitress did not forewarn us. Then , a steak we ordered medium was cooked to the point where it was hard and not edible it was so bad. The meal was replaced with an order that took 20 minutes to get out. Overall , the service and attitude was very poor and not friendly. The waitstaff barely apologized for the deficiencies . We believe the waitress did not speak English and barely understood what we were saying. It's a tough situation , but we will not be going back. They receive no stars from our party. Service was excellent but I was there 45 mins before closing but with 3 tables seating. The restaurant is nicely decorated and you can see the family love, feels like your grandma's house. And as well as clean. Ordered my all time favorite bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast. It was served piping hot, never had I had "hot" toast. Eggs were fresh and thick bacon. Only downside was the potatoes seemed deep fried and bland. Other than that I would return for another meal. read more

Great spot for breakfast - greasy spoon type with really yummy food. Friendly service and attentive that kept our coffee cups full. Highly recommend the chilaquiles verde - they were excellent. Inside is a bit small, so it can get tight during meal hours and you may have to wait, but they seem to turn tables over relatively quickly. Worth the stop. read more

I mean, it is what it is......True Americana. A tiny diner on a beaten road that provides no frills, stick to your ribs, bad for you yet delicious breakfast foods. It is almost shanty-sized, with a few tables and booths, and a bathroom that looks like a household bathroom, as opposed to a restaurant restroom (including the bottle of windex). There was only one server at the beginning of a Sunday morning, but it was pretty chill, so it made sense. As the restaurant is small, that is all is needed, and all of my needs were met. The server was nice, but not overly, and the ambiance of a quiet, neighborhood Sunday spot was complete. I was impressed with the cheese omelette. Yes.....a plain, cheese omelette. It was mixed perfectly. I am a stickler in that I hate big white spots scattered throughout my omelette or scrambled eggs, which shows that they just splatter the eggs on the grill and mix it then, and its.....well, gross. This omelette was nit rubbery, yellow, and packed with cheese. The pancake was served with oodles of butter, and, as I rarely eat pancakes, to induge in every way possible is the way to go when gorging on breakfast. The only down note, and not holding them to task too much, but their soda's carbonation was out. Rest assured, I will be finding a diet coke somewhere soon. We came to woodland to take my nephew out for breakfast. For his birthday. We stopped in this Family owned restaurant. It was small and cute. We sat down and all the booths were filled. Within 5min of sitting down, a both was open and available. We kindly asked if we could move tables and move to the booth, because we were a party of 4. They told us that they don't let guests move tables, because it's a small restaurant. I could understand if it was busy, but it definitely wasn't on a Monday morning, and we hadn't even placed our order or drinks. Once I got up before even walking to the door, the staff mad it a point to say bye, as if they were saying "Bye, we don't need your business " unfortunately this experience was not pleasant and the want to support a small family owned restaurant,ended up turning into going to Denny's. read more

After sitting down, we noticed another table was available and politely asked the waitress if we could move. She rudely told us no, that we had already sat there and couldn't change tables. The diner itself is tiny, and I imagine that later in the morning it would be packed, but I had no issue parking right in front and getting my choice of seat. The menu isn't massive, but if you're looking for a solid traditional American-style breakfast you'll have many options depending on the size of your appetite. I went with the country fried steak and eggs with hashbrowns. For a sleepy Sunday morning, the ambiance was perfect: quiet country music playing in the background, rustic signs and art work on every inch of the walls, and quiet conversation. I noticed there seemed to be a lot of working men coming in before their shifts or grabbing to-go orders in their uniforms, and regulars who knew their order as soon as they sat down. In a breakfast place I think that kind of clientele says a lot: fast service, good food, good prices. And I can say all my expectations were met. My food came out quickly and everything was cooked exactly as I wanted. The country gravy was really, really delicious. Maybe the best I've had? It had a kind of zingyness that made it feel a little lighter and less cloying on the tongue. I overheard a lot of people getting the Ranch breakfast with biscuits and gravy and I want to try that next time. The portions aren't massive, but I think they are fair for the price. Sometimes you don't want to have to take home leftovers and just want to pay for what you can eat in one sitting (I also imagine that the portions are optimized for those working folks who just want to eat and go to work without worrying about doggy bags or food waste). And the waitress offered me three refills of their clear and clean-tasting iced tea. When I was ready to leave, all I had to do was get up and pay. I think I was in and out in about 45 minutes and I never once felt rushed. Ranch kitchen is a little gem. Haven't been here since I was a child. Came here on a whim. Place is small and full. Cozy atmosphere and waitress was amazing. Washed her hands after everything from taking orders to wiping down the tables. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. I've never had gravy places under it kind of like a swimming pool for their sad to say store bought steak. If they would have done a home made battered steak it would have been perfect. The gravy was AMAZING. Great peppery taste and creamy. Mom has the bacon and cheese burger. She said it was pretty good. The fries were top notch, crispy and golden brown. All in all it's 4/5 stars. Finestkind ranch style dining. Back in late 80s my Friends and I would drive out from UC Davis on Sunday mornings for the Kitchen Sink Omelet and Biscuits and Gravy. I would always get the Steakburger and Eggs which is what I got today. Spectacular, perfectly cooked, served with care and fresh off the farm it was everything I remembered and more. Service was impeccable. When went to pay the bill there was a mix-up on the charge and we weren't able to tip properly because we only had a dollar in cash. This is trucker coffee that is meant to wake you up. This isn't blue bottle coffee so set your expectations accordingly). My boyfriend sent his coffee back. He had a chiqueles breakfast (eggs topping tortillas with salsa) and I had eggs and linguisa. We also decided to get a "glass" of mimosa. They have peach, mango, guava and orange. Now, for the price you get what seems to be 20 oz and would be good for the value. However, it tasted more juicy than balanced. Also, it was a little much in a sitting. I could do a champagne glass, a 20 oz carafe was a little much. Breakfast was amazing! Really enjoyed my meal and sampled my boyfriend'a which was also very delicious. Our server checked on us frequently and made sure we had what we needed. Overall, really enjoyed the food, the service and the ambiance. Always has been one of my favorite places to eat. I live in a very small town and there aren't many out here. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because of the service the last time I went in. They were super busy I get it so she wasn't as attentive as she should have been in my opinion. Other than the service that one time the food is always amazing and the service is typically pretty good. I highly recommend the chicken fried steak. Definitely a pleaser. This place is definitely a local hidden gem. Diner style with bar style seating, freshly brewed coffee, scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns with a Mexican flare. They also offer carne asada, chilaquiles, beans, and rice. The farmhouse stand decor inside the restaurant is adorable and the restaurant is very clean. I noticed (2) microwaves in the kitchen and it reminds me of Gordon Ramsey and his disdain for restaurants who cook with microwaves lol. The picture of my to-go chilaquiles just doesn't do any justice for the taste of the chilaquiles. They are crunchy, flavorful, mild in spice, chunky soft onions, and chorizo in the red sauce.
