The young woman who took my order was pleasant and accurate with our order. The music inside was a little loud, and I chose to sit on the patio instead. The table didn't appear particularly clean, which is part of the decision to give only four stars. The second part of that decision relates to the cashier. He was brusque and when the woman who took our order told him, he asked her for clarification and complained to us that she "tells me too many things". But she was right! My family and I stopped into The Posh Bagel on Saturday morning while passing through to the Bay Area. We were lucky enough and found parking right in front of the building. As it is Davis, there is only street parking. The inside is spacious with tables inside and outside. They had a giant glass display case with their bagel flavors and a huge refrigerator area with drinks. We ordered the Posh Breakfast Eggwich with Sausage, Posh Sliced Lox & Cream Cheese (With all Veggies) and 2 Plain Bagels - one with regular smear and one with peanut butter. My husband said the Posh Breakfast Eggwich with Sausage was just okay, but I enjoyed my Posh Sliced Lox & Cream Cheese (With all Veggies) even though they did not skimp on the veggies - I was only able to eat half since it was so filling. They offer other baked goods, sandwiches, pizza bagels and even bagel dogs. Everything looked really good and I could definitely see myself coming back next time we are in town. The coffee was strong, the service was fast, and the lox and cream cheese breakfast bagel I ordered was absolutely delicious. Bonus points that they have outdoor seating and strong wi-fi, allowing me to sit for longer than I probably should have to nom on my bagel, sip my iced coffee, and get some work done early in the morning before the blazing hot sun took over my day. Also I think it's cheaper and maybe more satisfying than the sando shop near by. They do not skimp on the pastrami. It makes for a very heavy breakfast or brunch sandwich. I love this place. I don't live in Davis but always stop by here when I'm in the area. Their fresh bagels are very good and not too doughy. Their portions are very generous. I've been to posh bagel a few times and I do have to say that I enjoy their bagels. Like most breakfast places in Davis, this place gets pretty packed in the morning as well. There isn't much room for seating so this is definitely a place where you wanna pick up your food and eat somewhere else. It can be a little bit overwhelming at first when you show up because the amount of people waiting in line. There's a good selection of different breakfast foods and drinks to order from as well. As a regular at Posh Bagel, I have been scared to write this review in case I don't do it justice for how much joy this place brings me on any given Saturday morning with my bagel sandwich and my coffee. But here goes. Though the cafe may not look like much from the outside, they make up for any lacking aesthetic with high quality food, super sweet and hard working staff, and a diverse menu that has anything you could possibly be in the mood for. The guy who usually works the cash register always says good morning to us and asks how our day is going, even when the line is long, and he is clearly overwhelmed by delivery orders and drinks to make. I have never once had them mess up my order, which is so incredibly appreciated for someone who is vegetarian. Their eggwhich with cheese always comes warm straight out of the oven, with the cheese still gooey, the eggs fluffy, and the bagel soft and delicious. I also am a big fan of their jalapeño shmear, and my partner can never choose between the salt bagel and the sesame bagel - both simple but perfected. On days we are particularly hungry we will also grab a muffin - our favorite is the pistachio muffin, but we also love pretty much all the muffins they offer. They can tend to fry a bit busy weekend mornings, but they move fast, so as long as you are willing to wait in line for a couple extra minutes, it's never been a problem for us. We don't get bagels from anywhere else in Davis anymore, especially because of how convenient their downtown location is - walking distance from the farmers market, campus, the train station, bus stops, or anywhere else you may be heading. read more

As a customer that has been going to Posh bagel for over 15 years I am extremely disappointed that recently they have started putting regular organic juice into their "fresh squeezed "orange juice" cups. I order the orange later in the day and suspect They run out and replace with store bought orange as there is no pulp and the taste is different. My favorite bagel shop in Davis. There are several in the city, but this local business is consistent and I love their coffee. Never had a bad coffee here. The customer service is straightforward: you order what you want and you get rung up at the end of the line. Some days are very busy; some other days are quick. For some reason, I don't think a 5 star spot is about being perfect, or always having a good experience. It's about consistency and how the establishment reacts with their mistakes. Rare times, my bagel is over cooked, or it just isn't up to par. But the one time I called in, they offered to do a better job and compensate for it. I haven't found a good bagel place, let alone a great bagel place to love for years. I finally found a place to call fantastic! At 6:30 am I expected to find a busy place, despite being in Davis which is very much a college town. It was super quiet just like the streets. Lucky for us! The cases were filled with various baked goods, and tons of heavenly bagels, with various flavors to select from. You'll want to try them all. Posh doesn't skimp on flavors! Posh offers a variety of morning coffee drinks, and they have a large refrigerator section of other beverages to choose from. The menu is fairly extensive for a "bagel shop", offering anything from just a bagel, to breakfast bagel sandwiches, lunch bagel choices, and a little bit of this and that. We decided to order the Turkey with tomato pesto spread and veggies. One for each of us. Where are the food pics?!? Well, all it took was an attempted bite, and there was no holding us back. Layers of goodness surrounded by an everything bagel promised to keep even the toughest vampire away. The garlic, the perfectly sliced Turkey, the pickles... there was so much piled on this hefty sandwich I dare you to try it, and eat it one sitting. I wish I would have asked for extra pickles. Just yum. After you make your sandwich selection, you can choose from any bagel that's available. The everything bagel is just that. The outside of the bagel coated with wonderful bits and pieces of garlic and seeds, seriously good stuff. Posh is currently only offering outdoor seating, and we ordered ours to go. The sandwiches each were perfectly wrapped, and even labeled in the order that we ordered our creations in. Most of their listed sandwich items will set you back around $10-$11 each. Hefty price, but you're getting a hefty sandwich, and it tastes like the deal of the year! The woman behind the counter was super sweet, and extremely helpful. We both shared a look, when the gentleman behind me ordered one of their breakfast egg sandwiches on a chocolate chip bagel. Who knows, maybe it's an epicurean delight. On a bagel note, their jalapeño cheese bagel looks pretty tasty, and I definitely want to try it toasted with some cream cheese. Parking is what it is in Davis,, and if you are there during off hours like I was, it truly won't be a problem. I love that they are open so early in the morning! This place is truly a Davis staple! They do run out of certain bagels and cream cheeses in the afternoon, so I recommend coming before lunch for more options. I've been here a few times to order bagel sandwiches or to grab half a dozen bagels ($8) and a 6 oz cream cheese container (~$5) to make my own at home. I love how they offer a lite alternative for less guilt. If you plan on ordering a lot of bagels, definitely ask for a freezer bag instead of the default paper bag. Their lite chive cream cheese is one of my favorites. I prefer this over the garlic herb cream cheese, which can be a bit overpowering. One issue I have with buying a container of their cream cheese is that they hardly pack it in, so it's not really a full 6 oz you're buying. That aside, everything bagels and garlic bagels are great. The gourmet asiago bagels are pretty good too, and these ones cost a bit extra. LOX SANDWICH AND CREAM CHEESE SALAD SANDWICH: 4.25/5 This is a solid bagel sandwich that includes fresh veggies and capers. They make these to order, so it's a pretty convenient and quick option when you need it. I usually get this with an everything bagel and lite chive/regular cream cheese.
