This place is about a 7-10 minute drive from my house and I go there multiple times a year during the summer and fall. If you go at peak times (usually after 7pm-ish on week days during the summer or on weekend afternoons), it can get REALLY busy and the parking lot is not very big, which can be kind of a hassle and an annoyance. It also tends to attract the local "tweens" during these times, which can also be kind of bothersome. That being said, everything else about the place is great. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, a public restroom, and most of all - amazing food and ice cream. The highlight of their food menu is definitely their cheeseburgers, especially the quarter-pounder. They toast the buns just perfectly. Delicious. Definitely the best burger I've ever had at an ice cream stand-type venue, and better than some restaurant burgers I've had. Their portions of french fries are very generous, which is also a plus. They have many different flavors of ice cream on their regular menu, as well as periodic "special" flavors. During the fall, they have AMAZING pumpkin ice cream, which is my favorite of all their flavors. It's a shame they don't have it year-round. Other fall specials include apple pie and peach ice cream. Their smoothies are really good too. I recommend the pina colada one. Another cool thing they have at this place - if you bring your dog with you, they have these little servings of vanilla soft serve w/a dog biscuit you can get for them. :-) read more

Used to live about 10 minutes away and now I live closer to 20 and still make the drive rather than going anywhere close. Their ice cream is unmatched, the coffee black raspberry is my favorite and they're the only place Ive seen that has it. You also definitely get your money's worth with them. read more

Country whip is DELICIOUS. Their menu is pretty big. They don't just have ice cream they have food as well. Their prices are kinda on the expensive side but their portions are HUGE. Their small ice cream is a medium anywhere else so if you want a small get a kiddie which is also pretty big. They have alcohol infused ice cream which I thought is a pretty cool idea. They also have different flavors of waffle cones like chocolate & funfetti. If you're ever in the area give them a try but bring cash because they charge you $1.10 to use a debit card (they don't accept credit cards). And it acts like a ATM so my total came to $11 they rounded it up to $15 then charged me the $1.10 fee which came to $16.10. Then they gave me the difference in cash. Confusing I know. read more

Didn't actually eat here - the smell of old oil for frying the food was so strong I chose to pass on lunch. Others in my group did order and as I expected their food was extremely greasy and also smelled of old oil. Noticed they were closing for the season in mid-October. Maybe it was too close to the end of the season to use fresh, non-smelly oil. read more

FALSE ADVERTISMENT of ATM. When asked if there was an ATM available the waitress stated, yes but you need to purchase food in order for us to swipe your card and then you can get cash back. So, we decided to stay & get a bite to eat. However,when paying our bill which we split because we both needed cash, the waitress at the register stated that we can only remove cash with $5 increments of our bill. EXAMPLE, my bill was $6.10, I was charged $1.10 to get cash back and they can only round up to $10 and get that change in cash back. when speaking to I believe was the manager she stated it was because of the apple and peach festival. So it should be posted outside your business stating you have NO ATM. read more

Excellent service and food today at the Country Whip. It's a staple for us after going apple-picking at Keith's Farm. All of our portions were bigger than expected and the quality of the food was very high. We got chowder that had lots of clams and the perfect amount of seasoning, chicken fingers that were all breast meat (not overprocessed with fillers), and a double cheeseburger that was stacked high. The ice cream was delicious, which is to be expected. This was our first time eating lunch there, which is why I wanted to share the positive review on the quality and portions- to let others know there is more than just ice cream worth checking out! It's a nice location and a nice ride through Acushnet. With that said I don't think I would venture that way just for the ice cream again... it's a 30 minute ride for us. My wife and I both had the Coffee/Black Raspberry twist just based on the other Yelp reviews. It was good just not worth the long ride (we have tons of ice cream places local to us). If we were in the area again we would definitely stop, maybe when we go to the apple/peach festival in the fall. They have a food menu too with the usual's, you know, hot dogs, burgers fries and such. We didn't try any food though. If you are in the area or within 10-15 minutes give it a try. read more

I lived in Fairhaven for over 10 years and just came across this little gem recently. I only had their ice cream so far so my review is based on that....being the boring vanilla ice cream guy I did not explore their selection to the fullest...and they definitely have selection from hard to soft serve to floaty to whatever....I thought their ice cream was pretty good and the price was fair. Abit more drive (for me) to get to but I marked the spot to visit periodically if I have ice cream cravings. read more

Extremely disappointed in the service tonight. There were two young kids and a family of 3 who ordered in front of us. They closed the window and took 10 minutes to even acknowledge us. They had at least 8 workers that I counted and 4 were on their phones with a line behind us. The process from getting to the window and receiving our ice cream took 28 minutes with only 5 people who had ordered before us. Let me start by saying that we love to go for ice cream here!! The food is good and the ice cream is great. However after seeing the way the employees are treated my the manager who I later learned was the manager we will not be returning these are young individuals most of them it's their first job and I can be nerve wracking. Though everything, food and ice cream, is good at the Country Whip, the main reason to go is for the coffee-black raspberry twist! One word: YUMMY!! You don't often see this combo and it's quite delicious. The prices are really great as well. Unless you are a really big eater, the small will be big enough for you. They have lots of hard ice cream flavors but I can never resist the c-br twist!!! There is almost always a line, but they always have a lot of people working, so it moves quite quickly. If you want a nice drive through country roads, definitely stop by the country whip! read more

I love this place! Big portions and a low price. Whenever I go for ice cream, I choose the Toll house cookie or the Peanut butter cup, while my husband gets coffee ice cream. If you want a unique topping, get the Crinkle Coat. It does get a bit packed during the weekends, but it has been the local favorite for decades. read more

For 70 years I've been hunting down the best ice-cream spots any place I've been has to offer, coast to coast. You won't get better ice-cream anywhere (unless maybe you go to Geiger's in Brentwood Village in Southern California) or more generous servings at better prices and the middle-of-nowhere on a sweet little country road location is the very best! And that's not all. Want clam chowdah? It's excellent! Fried clams, stops or whole-body? Yep, they're good, too, in addition to all the regular stuff, which I haven't tried. As a past cook at country whip I am a little disappointed about the food reviews! I put many years of service into country whip and was proud to work there and told many people to come and visit for the food not just the ice cream,and people were happy to come and enjoy the food and then enjoy enjoy the ice cream afterwards. Idk what happened? Kind of disappointing :( not the same experience anymore. The food will never match the non-homemade ice-cream just for the fact country whip was built on the ice-cream business and the food was just an added benifit to all its dedicated customers but people used to be proud to try the food and very little complaints came back about it. read more

Went to country whip one afternoon to get my grandchildren food and icecream. The food was terrible and when I went to pay with my debit card . I was informed that they charge you to use my debit card. Got home to the worse food I ever order out. My children did not eat the food . They said it taste horrible so i wasted 60 dollars yes 60 dollars for nothing . The food is very expensive and not worth it . I will not be returning there again. read more

This is a great go to place when you want good food. The lobster roll is bigger then some I have gotten in a fancier place, and the desert menu is quite extensive since it is an ice cream place also. I have never had to complain about anything in all the years I have been going there. read more

on a recent spring evening, we arrived and were seated within 10 minutes. our meals were good enough although the quahogs were dried out like as if overcooked and 3 days old... the soft ice cream was good but we've had better. our waitress, was very pleasant and ever so nice !!! another waitress, a tall young lady had brought over our quahogs and remarked that our waitress was new and we were amazed with the way she was handling herself ! she sure will be an asset to the place ! we were business owners ourselves and after 36 years of operating a business, we can tell if a trainee is going to be worth keeping. we could see right away that this girl would be ! that being said, we were saddened to see and hear the owner, a young woman, making negative comments about customers right out loud and in front of obvious customers who were hearing the same as we were. it was embarrassing !!! as we were readying ourselves out the front door, the owner we were informed, a young blond haired woman began cursing at our waitress that was so sweet to us. we found it all in bad taste and were ready to say something. we didn't even know our waitress, but decided perhaps it best to let it be. we were taken aback as to the verbal abuse she received right in front of the other employees and customers! now, while constructive criticism is very much needed while being trained, this young owner has a thing or two to learn as far as handling the help is concerned !!! we wonder that perhaps she might indulge herself in a nice book entitled p.r...again, we were appalled !!!! if she didn't apologize not for saying what she said to that young girl but for how she said it to her, then we don't think much of the owner. it will be a long while before we return and mainly to see our nice young waitress. over time, if she continues down this road, she herself, the owner, will be detrimental to her own establishment through the eyes of others, the customers !!!!!! read more
