Unreservedly recommended! This is hearty, filling fare, even for the vegetarian options. I ordered several of the appetizers as my portion which I shared with four other family members, and came away happily stuffed! Garrett was fantastic, and answered all our questions so graciously. I love it when people take pride in their work! His attentive care was so much appreciated on this trip. God bless and keep you! On to the food! The classic pretzel was everything it should be, and the beer cheese and 2 mustard sauces were on point--definitely recommend. The Garden Gondolas were a bit of a surprise--100% delicious, and way more filling than expected with their cheesy middles. The hot honey was only mildly spicy and the perfect addition to the milky flowers. The boars in a blanket were meaty treats! More rustic cousins of pigs in a blanket, with a heartier crust, and a thick chunk of perfectly cooked roast beast to chomp down on. YUM. The spaetzle und bierkase wasn't what I was expecting based on my own travels in Deutschland, but once I adjusted that back-of-the-mind expectation, I fully embraced this meaty, oniony, brothy, pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps Americanized counterpart. 'Merica!!! XD Two of the kids got the Trailheads, and one got the Pooh Bear. None of them managed to finish their portions, but they all 100% enjoyed them again later. The sandwiches were every bit as deliciously filling as the appetizers. The meats here are done so well! The salads are wonderful, too; not just an afterthought, but accompanied and dressed with care. The Rustic is superb if you're in the mood for rye and brisket. Mouth watering, tender, and perfectly balanced by the side salad. But it doesn't stop there! The tiramisu was delectable, the ice cream fresh and creamy, and the Bee Sting cake was perfection: warm crispy where it should be, cold and creamy where it should be, and sooo good. Zero disappointments. We were there in the early evening, so it wasn't super loud, and there were just a few other tables. There was a quiz game getting started when we were there, so we played along. I really enjoyed this quiz game--it was less esoteric minutiae and more history/politics/music/business/cultural questions that a generally well educated person would enjoy tasking their mind to recollect. It was great to see the kids drawing from their recent educational experiences to answer some of the questions, and deducing the answers to other ones. There are also board games here that you can enjoy. We enjoyed the What Do You Meme game while waiting for our food. It brought the atmosphere together nicely. Wow! Do not sleep on this place, they are doing it right! We came down for Family Weekend from California and boy is this a place we will come back to!! The service was great, they were friendly, had plenty of seating and we were helped right away. We started with drinks and were immediately impressed. I got an Arnold Palmer and my husband got an iced tea, and the orange cinnamon flavor was something I had never had before but it was amazing!! My son ordered a Shirley Temple and it was perfect, made with real cherries not the typical maraschino...so good! For the food, wow! I got the tri tip sliders and they were on point! The meat was tender, with the right amount of horseradish and the spring greensplus the bread was super soft. I ordered the fritters with them and they had such a good amount of seasoning that I didn't even need the sauce. We also got the apple and pear flatbread with added chicken. The arugula with balsamic added the perfect amount of crunch and spice and was probably my favorite thing from what we ordered. My husband got the French dip and had nothing but good things to say, tender meat with a nice smoky flavor, soft roll, great au jus! We also got a cheddar brat, a chicken salad, and a pretzel bun burger and we couldn't have been more satisfied with how good, no how great the food was! They know how to cook here. Oh and the dessert, forget about it. Tiramisu with a scoop of hand churned brown sugar cinnamon ice cream Truly one of the best meals we've all had in a long time! We stumbled on this place while previewing U of I with our kid and very glad we did. The food was great, we started with the tempura fried Brussels. Then I had the corned beef sliders, kid had the brats in a blanket and my wife had a flatbread. You probably can't go wrong with any of their food but the portions were pretty generous, the flavors and textures delicious. Beer menu was solid, I had a few sours and an IPA. Wife had a well made gin and tonic, then we had some birthday/chocolate cake shots the bartender did a great job on. The one man band played some great tunes too. Solid country bier hall feel. Then after we finished dinner Chris invited us upstairs to check out connected Moscow Axe Throwing. Another great vibe and atmosphere. I'm going to be completely honest, I am a bit disappointed in this place. After looking at the reviews, I had high expectations. We went to try something new, as I love bratwursts and so I was excited to see they had. The menu online looked great so I was excited. We got the cob crescents and it was good, I liked the seasoning and sauces. We got a sandwich (the chopper) with a side salad. I liked the salad and the dressing options. I was a bit disappointed in the sandwich, I could only taste the BBQ sauce which I get but I was excited for the cornbread bun. I didn't taste any cornbread so I think they may have subbed it out without telling me, but I'm not sure. We also got the Brat beast. It was fine but it wasn't special. Pretty good chips. I wouldn't get again though. I was pretty disappointed with the FLAMMKUCHEN flat bread. I saw it had bacon, which I'm fine with. When I bit into it, there was big chunks of meat. It wasn't in the description so I decided to ask. The waitress said she thinks it's pork belly. Maybe some people wouldn't mind, but I personally would not have gotten it if there were pork belly in it. I don't like that the servers didn't tell the waitress they subbed it out or put some in. I'm assuming they ran out of bacon so they subbed it with pork belly. I personally do not like pork belly at all, so I couldn't eat it. As a restaurant, please let the customer know if things are getting added that are not part of the description. It's okay if you are out of stuff, but I would rather just order something else instead. I will say I really enjoyed the environment. They had great drinks, and lots of game options to play, which we played for a bit. Also, I don't really like how you have to pay with a portable card reader that they hold up to you where they look at you while you tip. Personally, I don't think businesses should be using this for payment, as it is intimidating for customers who may feel obligated to tip more just because the server is looking right at them while they tip. read more

This place is the whole package. They have amazing service that is both personable and efficient. The food is reasonably priced, tasty and provides a decent variety. Finally, they have a diverse tap list, inclusive of ciders and seltzers. I understand they are working towards expanding to provide cocktails. My hope for them is that there is no collateral damage to any of their other finally honed service lines as they expand their menu. I'm told that I showed up on a slow night, there were not too many folks in here on a Sunday evening. There seems to be ample space to fill and there was a little corner for some live music. This place could be pretty lively and fun in the right circumstances, but it's certainly lacks pretension. Incredible find in such a small town. I mean obviously they have a wonderful selection of beers on draft, but the food here is the real star. This is an incredibly down to earth culinary experience without the prices of the big cities. The chef that came up with their menu knows what works and what will knock your socks right off; and I cannot believe we hadn't come sooner to find this little gem. I've been back several times since my first stop in and will continue to because this is my favorite place in Moscow. Sharp White Cheddar, Sauerkraut, Pub Sauce & Countrymen's Mustard on Toasted Brioche -- it was fantastic! These sandwiches come on 3 slider size brioche buns. Sauerkraut tastes homemade. My guest ordered the Hinterlander -- Mountain of Thick-Cut Tri-Tip, Sharp White Cheddar, Field Greens, with Cream Horseradish Herb Spread -- incredible flavor! Great flavor on the Tri-tip (not dried out) and herb spread leveled up the flavor. We split the food between the two of us and we quickly realized that we had stumbled upon something incredible. Music blasting so loud you can't have a conversation ( I know I am old ;) so unless you want to text to talk skip. We asked to have music turned down a little and sever said this is "impossible". Also made sure to inform the women that no alterations can be made to order. Not impressed with treatment of customers as children that must follow directions so will not be going back. Also saw some well known community predators dining here which is also a deterrent even though that is not directly the fault of the business it does mean predators are comfortable eating here. read more
