If I could rate this negative stars I would. Cheap food at least but I guess you get what you pay for. The Brunswick Stew tasted like it was left outside for three days. On first bite you could very quickly tell all the food has been microwaved. Very poor quality and not even worth the low prices. Take your money down the street to Niffer's where they won't serve you garbage on a tacky metal platter. Their brisket is an insult to the south and the state of Alabama. I have zero clue how Country's maintains multiple locations with that low of quality... must be the dirt cheap prices of their food. read more

I had the Rib platter with fried Green Tomatoes and Stewed Apples... The Sides were wonderful but the ribs were very dry especially the ends. Also, the ribs were not fresh, which could have been the reason why they were dry. The ribs were old, by a day or 2.... The Tea was wonderful... read more

Waitress AUDREY was great! Definitely a 4.5* 2* fried green tomatoes were VERY greasy and very little flavor 1*Pork platter was almost all fat 4* Stew 3* brisket, good flavor but tough. I'm pretty sure it was warmed up in microwave bc it was extremely hot when it came out to table and that's probably what made it tough 3* collards were average It took 50 minutes for our food to arrive after ordering. Audrey kept apologizing when it wasn't even her fault. We asked to speak with mgr. (Lexie) Audrey told her and she had her relay to us that she would come out shortly. Then after about 10 minutes, mgr sent waitress back out to tell us that she said that she couldn't come out to speak with us bc she was too busy(great customer service, huh???). This was our second visit here and we came back bc overall for our first visit was a 4.5*. For me, it's not worth the fifty-fifty gamble of getting a good meal!! We went on a Thursday, the live music was good. Bluegrass type. Waitstaff was friendly and service was good even though the place was very busy. Collard greens were a little lame and the baked beans were in a tomato sauce (strange), but the brisket and the turkey were both good, along with the butter beans. Would definitely go back read more

Went too try country Ribs it took us 15 min to get a table.The server took another 15 min to take our drink order.Another 15 min to take our order she us they were out of French fries and sweet potatoe never once did she us they were out of ribs. I love Country Bbq's in Auburn Alabama. That is the only barbecue place that I will ever eat. It is the best food the best service ever. I placed a call in order on Thursday, January 5 at 11:30 and was told that I would be 30 minutes for the wait for my order, I picked my order up. I paid for it and I proceed to hit out the door. I get in my car drive back to Opelika get home check my food. One of my meals were on point. The other meal was not a call back. I talked to some young lady. She was nice on the phone. She asked me could I come back and I told her that I was not able to because I work a second job she put someone else on the phone and I was really talking to. read more

We stopped for lunch, on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated at a table that had just been vacated, but not cleaned. I had to snag someone to clean the table for us, so our toddler would t touch the sticky mess that was left. The servers were all super friendly and helpful. When our food came, it was all room temperature at best, except for my vegetable soup. My wife ordered the bbq baked potato and the cheese on it wouldn't even melt. My ribs were mostly dry and rubbery. I'm assuming they had been under a heating lamp. The vegetable soup I mention was nice and hot, but tasted like an ashtray. Probably because they burned it in the pot and didn't want to toss it. My daughter's Mac n cheese was ok, luckily only slightly warm so we did t have to cool it off before letting her eat. I'm not sure if I could hold my head up in Alabama after serving this to customers. I'd certainly go to Butcher Paper or Chucks or Broken Arrow instead. read more

Okay, so I hadn't been here in a couple decades. Wondered why the restaurant didn't look open. Oops, probably because it was an away football weekend, a night game, and they don't have TVs. It's alright-we were in town for another youth sports tournament, so it wasn't the end of the world. I think we lost the game anyway. Friendly staff, huge portions, and well-cooked meats. Food was good, yet it could have been warmer. The older gentleman who seated us walked to our table and literally slapped our menus down.. No greeting; nothing. He seemed annoyed, sadly. We sat toward the back and the first I noticed was how dirty the air vents were. I'm giving it 4 stars due to our server; she was the highlight of our visit. This barbecue establishment was highly recommended by a young lady who personally knew the restaurant and staff, though I will omit her name as she was a very sweet gal. She suggested while I was in town I stop by "if I like good barbecue." This food was anything but. Ordering the pork barbecue platter, the meat was very "fatty" with no taste whatsoever, as such I ended up leaving most of it on my plate. The collard greens were soggy with little substance, and the cornbread muffin was more than a day old, and not that tasty, either. Adding to this, their BBQ sauce was like pouring colored water on my food, very runny, and with way too much vinegar. The only reason this place gets two stars instead of one is the baked beans and sweet tea were rather delicious. When pulling up to the restaurant, the smell of fresh barbecue was enough to leave me salivating, and the interior is everything one would hope a barbecue place would be, but my dinner was anything but a meal to write home about. For starters, I have never been so disappointed with a restaurant than this. First was our drinks that the waitress brought were in her arms and basically had one leaning up in her armpit ! we ordered apps and didn't get them, (got totally something else )the waitress asked if we want them after our meal comes out and didn't get the right ones that we even ordered. After waiting an hour and saying something our food came out but oh here's a surprise it was cold the meat, the fries,the beans , the corn was so dried out it actually looked like deer corn! If that was smoked then bad on them!The corn bread was a burnt muffin. So disappointed. Roast beef was too dry and tasteless to eat. Gravy was cold and tasted like canned. Cornbread was too sweet, might as well call it a muffin. They were out of everything we tried to order, bbq chicken? Fried chicken fingers? Fried green tomatoes? Come On!!!? It was a Sunday!!! Plan better! Me and my boyfriend stopped in today and everyone was just so sweet. Natalie, our server, was very kind and considerate during our entire visit today. She ensured our drinks were full and our food tasted good. She also checked in several times and was very patient with us. The food is amazing as well. I could not recommend the hamburger steak more. It has been pretty crowded the last two times we came but they are always efficient with the crowds kept in mind. Overall, could not recommend Country's more! read more

the servers are very rude. the food came cold after we waited for 40 minutes to receive it. they also failed to get us our sauce we asked for and when asking the server for it she just walked away. they have dirty floors and the servers handle the food with their bare hands. i saw one of the servers walk out of the bathroom without washing their hands. my husband saw one of the cooks do the same. i will never be coming back to this place again -5 stars. read more

Apparently the old man host with the attitude problem had the night off because we were greeted by a very pleasant young woman. We were seated very quickly. The waitress brought our drinks and food and they were the appropriate temperature. The Country's in Prattville and Montgomery closed about five years ago (or longer) and we were beyond excited to try the Auburn location. I honestly didn't know one even existed anymore! We drove over an hour to get there and I have to say, we were not disappointed. I had the chicken tenders (the best ever!), fries (perfection), and salad (a bit on the basic side compared to Prattville, but still adequate). Country's has the best ranch and thousand island dressings. Do they make them in-house? I have zero idea, but I know I've never had any better. My dinner companions had good experiences with their food as well. If you are from Prattville or Montgomery and are still mourning the loss of your local Country's BBQ, mourn no more. Wipe those tears, head up I-85, and enjoy some great BBQ! read more

I'm a new resident of Auburn and having visited Country's multiple times when they were in the older building, I was pleasantly pleased from the customer service to the atmosphere and most importantly, the food. However, this is my second time visiting since the new building has broke ground and it definitely has changed. The service is fair. The ambiance is nice. The food is not even beginning to break ground for mediocre and having read reviews, I don't think I'm alone. I do hope for improvement soon and that our reviews don't fall upon deaf ears. read more

Not the best, but we would go back. Service is slow, BUT the other places in the area are closed for spring break so it drove people here. Completely packed, but very friendly service. This quite possibly might have been the worst restaurant experience I've had. After being seated we waited 5-10 minutes before being greeted. We ordered food and drinks at the same time. All 7 of us got water and one person got tea. After 20 additional minutes we still had not been served our drinks and had not seen our waitress. I should point out that the restaurant was not busy. We got another waitress's attention and she was helpful with getting us our drinks. Eventually the food came out. Now I will say that most people liked at least part of their food. I ordered the Saturday baby back rib special and they might have been the worst ribs I've ever eaten. Overcooked and tough. It was like eating rib jerky. The mac and cheese side wasn't much better. They ended up taking half the food off of our bill because things were so bad, something we did appreciate. read more

Used the online ordering system to place a pickup order for the giant steak sandwich ($11.05 using the online ordering system through Yelp), which is a hand-breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. The pork tenderloin was not properly prepared. So, instead of it being a thin, flat, breaded, deep-fried filet, it was a thick, chewy lump that didn't come close to covering the bun. Very disappointing. And a horrible value, particularly since the sandwich is available for ~$9 for in-restaurant dining. This is the second time that Country's BBQ has served me a disappointing meal. We came early on Sunday and were sat immediately. Our server was Kendal, and she was absolutely amazing! Super friendly, funny, and outgoing! She was so quick with getting orders in and out to us, and even when the restaurant was busy, she made sure to check on us throughout the meal. Some of the best service I've ever experienced! Been there many times over the history of this restaurant. The new building is nicer and cleaner than their old building. The menu is the same and the food tastes the same too. This is a hole in the wall with great barbecue. We love this little joint. It's nothing fancy, but the barbecue is good. I also love their Brunswick stew. Our kids love their bbq sandwiches. We also love their bbq chicken. We usually do takeout and they do a steady business inside. There's usually a wait, but it's manageable. The sides are tasty and the meat is on point. Loved this place. We were passing thru town and decided to order take out. My meal was the pulled pork with baked beans and baked apples. The baked beans are cooked in a tangy sauce and were very good. The pork was delish and very moist. Needless to say the baked apple was yummy. My husband had the bbq turkey which was very moist too. I don't know where to start. I'll just write this based on our most recent visit. Arrived about 7 pm. Approx 5-6 tables occupied. 6 staff (servers) in view from the door all gathered at entry to kitchen (next to the rocking chair). About 2 minutes later one came and asked "table or booth?" We said booth and she commented "I'll clean one." She took a few things to kitchen, came back with wet rag and raked stuff off table onto bench and floor and then put menus on table and said "someone will be with you." After a couple more minutes - the huddle broke up and a young lady came over. My husband commented about the trash raked onto the bench and floor. Instead of "oh I'm sorry; let me take care of it," it was "we are so busy we don't have time to sweep before we sit more people." (With only 5-6 other tables occupied)... ???? She took our order and (appeared) faked being pleasant - sort of that over the top type of pleasantry. During our visit: *some other girl came over and sweep close by -- maybe 6 feet out from our table *server came and chatted with group at booth behind us with her drink cup and had a visit. Ok to be friendly and chit chat, but NOT bring your drink out into the dining room. *2-3 young guys came in and went and sat down at table closest to restroom and a couple servers joined them to roll silverware. About 7:40 or so a few staff started wiping tables and bussing ones (that had been dirty since we got there) and turning chairs upside down on them. This place is so dirty. The ceiling tiles haven't ever been replaced (or so it appears). Some are barely hanging on and dirt/dust is covering all the vents/returns. I'm sorry to be so long winded but with the high price of everything you want dining out to be worth it. Oh yea, the menu price for AYCE chicken is around 11.29 but we were charged 13.44. Didn't mention that to them, we just wanted to leave. read more
