We got the "red" sauce as well. My husband loved the entire meal. I was a tad more picky. The brisket itself is great! The green beans so good with the bacon. The sauce...eh. The casserole...the potatoes were too al dente. Almost has a "crunch". Not sure if they weren't cooked long enough or needed more liquid? The taste was good just not the texture. Hoping it was a one time gig...we'll try it again when we come back into town. No comment on ambience as we got the order to go. Alabama employees happy and nice as usual. Really enjoyed Bow & Arrow! We brought the dog and sat on the patio. While the outdoor space could use a little TLC, the waitress was super present, friendly, and helpful. You can't go wrong with their burger and fries, and making fresh coffee for me was such a nice touch. They have a huge beer selection, too. Great drinks, mediocre food, good service and packed busy on a Monday night. We got margaritas and had a nice conversation with a veteran while we waited 45 minutes for a table. After seated, we ordered chili con queso right away. Nothing super exciting but the chips were good. Then we got brisket fajitas, brisket melt and brisket tacos (brisket theme). Bow & Arrow never disappoints. Even with a diverse menu, they hit the mark every time. With a very laid back atmosphere and a great team of cooks and servers, they deliver the best BBQ in Auburn. Smoky flavor and simple sides make up the heart of the menu. I love the rice & hash brown casserole, but my mom was a huge fan of the collard greens. Great little place no reservations but we literally got in within 10 minutes of arriving.. I had the chicken enchiladas, which were good, but possibly a little salty so I added some of their honey ancho chili sauce and made my own creation.... My wife had the fried chicken tacos, which had the ancho chili sauce, which gave me the inspiration. I also did a site order of the collard greens, which I found to be very, very good.. Good BBQ and mac and cheese thick enough to patch a hole in your driveway, but really it's the tacos that set this place apart. They mix flavors most folks wouldn't dare try at home and somehow make them work every time. The fried chicken tacos in particular are awesome. The BBQ is good, if not always great, but honestly that's the nature of the beast: it's hard to sling truly great BBQ out of the pit day in and day out, with the wood, the meat, the humidity, and about a hundred other variables to nail down. That said, it's consistently good. I've only had one bad experience with the food here, and it was corrected promptly and without question, no fuss at all. They also seem to only hire the nicest people to serve and seat you. Solid spot, and an easy recommendation in Auburn. The restaurant is modern and looks great all lit up at night. Plenty fo seating for waiting on a table. Even a few games to keep you occupied. A Tex-Mex and beef bbq fan, I was looking forward to the menu items featuring a fusion of the two. Ordered the chili con queso and the brisket fajitas. The queso came out cold and some of the chips with stale. Our server brought us another queso that was warmer. The chili was not plentiful in the queso. The fajitas were screaming hot as expected. The brisket was lean and moist and had good smoke, particularly on the bark. Portions of condiments for the fajitas were tasty but not large. Friendly staff and nice place. Had a short wait for a table on a Sunday late morning. Landon was our server and he was a nice kid. Started with chips and queso to start. The kids devoured them and Landon brought a second bowl of chips to finish off the queso. B&A is a tastefully decorated with hunting and Many deer heads! Krissy ordered a chicken sandwich, Karlea got a burger, Brody got Pulled pork sandwich and Katy and I both got Christin's enchiladas. Sipping my Arnold Palmer while waiting for our meal. I had very high hopes for this place after seeing reviews & knowing I was coming to visit on a work conference. It was good but far from great. We came in on a Wednesday night & you could tell they had staffing issues in the kitchen. They had the wait staff but inside only half the tables were occupied despite at least 5 different parties being told a 25-30 minute wait. We ended up sitting outside. We didn't mind as we lived in the Midwest & the 60s weather at 6pm was amazing. Service was a tad slow but expected in a college town. Drink menu was good. I ordered the Chicken Fajitas bc I was not really in mood for a sandwich or enchilada. It was tasty but very small portion sizes for a fajita meal. The pita that came with it was top notch. When she arrived, there was a long line out front (we're in a heat advisory btw) and after about 15 minutes, someone came and informed the crowd they had a catering party the night before and weren't opening until 4. My mom finally spoke to someone who said there was nothing they could do but her money would be refunded. This left her upset and scrambling to feed a group waiting at her house. A very disappointing birthday and left the entire group with a negative feeling about a local restaurant they were originally looking forward to enjoying. Mistakes happen, but this was an absolutely terrible service experience and management should have ensured orders were closed if they were making the decision to change hours for a Saturday. read more

We came on a night where they had a very large group, but even considering that our food took way too long to come out, especially for a bbq restaurant where the entrees are already cooked. We ordered some nachos that were pretty good and got some complimentary loaded fries that were incredible, but then we waited about three hours just for my ribs to be quite tough and lazily sauced with a bland sweet barbecue sauce. I think this place has good potential if you go on the right night but it doesn't seem ready for prime-time. The look and vibe of everything including the dining area was quite nice and I understand it was a crazy night but for the ribs to be as dry as they were (inedible) is not a great sign for a barbecue place. read more

Wow, what amazing place in Auburn, Alabama! We were on the road heading to Pensacola, Auburn seems to be one of the best places to stop on the way. Yelp hook me up with this place for sure very cool motif, with super friendly staff. The food was the star. We got the Lotte fries for appetizer. My wife got the fried chicken tacos, and I got the brisket. Melt sandwich. Everything was very tasty and fresh. I will say, the star of everything one of those fried chicken tacos! Amazing flavors. To be honest it's a 3.5 but between up or down I went up thinking just a bbq place it would be better. See below. Me and wife came here for lunch on Sunday for first time. Since church had just ended there was a good amount of people but we only had to wait about 10 minutes. The staff were very friendly and even though a little busy we're right on top of things. We were given menus right away and are drinks came out very quickly. We decided to share the fajitas molcajetes which is for two and comes with steak chicken and shrimp. As well as their tortillas, rice and correct beans. We also got a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. The good. The steak and shrimp were delicious cooked very well. As were the tortillas. I'm positive they are hand made and done right. Also the potatoes and gravy were excellent. The ok. The rice. It was alright. Seemed almost like instant rice really. The beans. They were ok to be honest I would have just preferred regular pinto beans but they were ok. The bad. The shrimp. The wife started to eat one and it wasn't fully cooked. She had to spit it out. My dining companion and I recently visited Auburn, Alabama for what felt like the blink of an eye on a road trip to Nashville, TN. We met friends at the Bow & Arrow restaurant, at their suggestion. This restaurant has a cool vibe and a lot of taxidermied hunting trophy heads mounted to the walls. I doubt any of these were slayed with a bow and arrow, but no matter. The rest of the décor appears to be most reflective of the ever popular farmhouse chic style. There is a large dining room inside and a deck with outdoor seating outside. This is a freestanding restaurant with plenty of parking available around the perimeter of the restaurant. We were promptly greeted and escorted to a table. Our friends had dined her many times and count this restaurant amongst their top ten in Auburn. The day we visited was rainy and we arrived as the restaurant opened, so no trouble getting a table and the place did not start to fill up for lunch until 12:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Our friends ordered the queso blanco and cool ranch tater tots for shared appetizers. Both were good. The tater tots definitely had some kick to them! I ordered the Smoked Brisket Melt, served with their Texas-Style beef brisket, melty cheese, white bbq sauce on sourdough toast. Although the sandwich default is french fries, I requested a side of their mac and cheese. The server obliged without an upcharge. This sandwich was filling and delicious. I had to take half with me. The mac and cheese was creamy and thick, just the way I think it should be. I was pleased with this menu item. My dining companion ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken, which was buttermilk marinated and served with a side of whipped mashed potatoes, green beans and sawmill gravy. It's a winner if you're looking for a filling meal. The chicken was moist, flavorful and the batter clung to every bite of chicken. This one is pure comfort food. The service was great and we enjoyed the rustic ambience. If you're in the Auburn area, this is definitely a place to try out. It's been years since I tried out Bow and Arrow (2021), so I was excited to get back to AU and visit again. The hostess quoted us a 40-45min wait, but we were pleasantly surprised it was only about half that. The space was insanely warm-- got it, it's winter and it's cold/rainy, but we were sweating and our baby's cheeks were turning pink. Our waiter made the experience less than ideal. He definitely didn't want to be there and his performance showed that. He was no help when we asked about menu items-- we got nothing more than a shrug and a mumbled 'I don't know'. He was slow to do anything and our beer was barely cold when it made it to the table after letting it sit at the bar for too long. We waited for 40min for our dinner. Even a Friday night in a busy college town shouldn't equal that. Food was good when we finally got it. Not worth the long wait, but decent. Disappointing visit...but, I'll probably go back when it's hopefully less busy and attempt a better experience. read more

This is a a great college bar and restaurant. We decided to try out the fries and they were delicious! I got the brisket sandwich it was good but will fill you up quick, the only thing I dislike was the bread it tasted almost like it had been fried. I was in the area getting some professional development training done and stopping by Bucee's and was craving some good BBQ. I live in Hawaii and I miss Texan BBQ. Fortunately for me this was very close. Came in about 7 Pm and it was just me so wait time was about 5 minutes. Looked and saw the brisket I've been craving so I ordered the 2 meat combo and chose a mix of brisket and jalapeño sausage with a side of Mac n cheese and collard greens. I ordered the sweet BBQ sauce and the vinegar like BBQ sauce also. Not a big mustard fan but the waitress convinced me it goes great with the sausage so I got that too. Alabama certainly proves it is home of the sweet with the sweet bbq sauce because it had a brown sugary like sweetness to it and was good. The vinegar bbq sauce was really good and was more to my liking. I'm glad the waitress convinced me to get the mustard bbq sauce because it paired perfectly with the sausage. For the sides the Mac n cheese was a nice cheesy and creamy consistency and the collard green was soo good with the vinegar twang and bacon that I missed from the south. All and all I'm glad I stopped to eat here in sweet home Alabama and my cravings for southern BBQ flavor and atheistic were satisfied. read more

While they have mexican food as the main staple of the restaurant, not once did I see anyone of a complexion darker than a piece of un-toasted white bread among the kitchen staff or servers. I found it off-putting and concerning. I am doubtful the management of this establishment cares about this point, but these are my two cents. read more

We ate and drank here after my niece's graduation at Auburn and were so impressed. Bow & Arrow combines two of our favorite BBQ and Tex-Mex cuisines. We weren't going anywhere else for dinner once we saw we could have queso and smoked meats. The decor is cute. They have string lights outside on their patio area. Pick between high tops or regular tables in the original building or the additional indoor patio area. It was busy when we walked in, so we went to the bar and sat immediately. Our bartenders were very friendly and helpful. I freaked out when I saw there was a margarita that was topped with Prosecco. It's called the TE-KILL-YA, but I wanted spicy, so she used a jalapeño tequila to make it spicy for me. It was great. If I ever come back, I would get it without simple syrup to make it less sweet. I liked it so much I got two of them. The first round for my hubby was the highwaymen. He loves mezcal and likes the drink, but it was a petite pour; for real, it filled only a 1/3 of the glass. He rarely drinks faster than me and finishes it in about four sips. His next drink was a mezcal, and he enjoyed it. We snacked on the Three Amigas so I could have queso and guacamole, and my hubby could have his salsa with them. Their chips are the outstanding, thin, crispy ones. The guy next to us was a former employee, and his favorite app was the cool ranch tater tots, so he was eating those. Deciding between BBQ and Tex-Mex was hard, so I chose the fajita grilled salmon Plato. It was delicious! The salmon was grilled to perfection. I loved the toppings of pickled onions and avocado with the bed of cheesy grits. The mix of the grilled poblanos peppers and onions gives the grits the Tex-Mex spicy flavor. My hubby enjoyed the mix-and-match taco plate. He picked the pork and fried chicken. He wanted the pork, and we both enjoyed the fried chicken. The fried chicken taco is one of the best we have devoured. Your tacos come with any side, so we picked the mac and cheese made from scratch, and it was so cheesy and good. My first time here, we ordered chips and queso. Queso was extremely watery-- sloshed out when waitress placed it down. It had no flavor at all; when we mentioned it to the waitress, she was very apologetic and said "other people had complained about it that day too and it's weird because they normally have great queso."-- it was taken off of our bill. We came back 3 weeks later and decided to give it another try, but with the chili queso. Literal water again :( no flavor at all. So sad, don't get the queso.
