Eats were really good as was the biscuit. That biscuit was top notch. Bacon was done perfect. In fact everything was really good. Is it more expensive than McDonalds, Hardee's and those places ?? The half a chicken came dry, the mild sauce was just ok, mainly tasted slight vinegar base, and the Coke wasn't mixed correctly and tasted flat. Stopped here for a quick lunch the other day. 1st time visit and was not disappointed. I got the rib plate with green beans and fried potatoes. My wife ordered veggie plate. We were both pretty happy with what we got. The staff was friendly and our food was served faster than expected. About the only negative things we could say is that the interior is very dated (minor issue) and the men's restroom was in bad shape (major issue). We went to this place for breakfast. There was a pretty significant line going out the door. I am so glad we waited. The line moves super quickly and we were even able to get our choice of tables. We had the breakfast biscuits I had the breakfast biscuit with bacon, egg, and cheese. The biscuit is phenomenal. So is the bacon and egg. I wish they had some choices beyond just American cheese because I'm not an American cheese sort of guy. Two plain and too salty. I would've loved a great cheddar cheese or something else. Service is normally pretty good, but they have hired a bunch of new people that don't know what the menu items contain e.g. they don't know if they had Texas toast or not. I felt sorry for the new cashier because she had to ask almost on everything. I think they should take more time training the new employees. Also, the menu is quite confusing. It doesn't really describe or give prices in a way that's easy to read so you can order fast. I think they should just take the menu that the cashier is reading from that has the prices and post that. Other than that the food is decent quantity is below normal for my chopped pork and extra vegetables, because it only comes with two vegetables. Update on the update: The owners were retiring so they sold the business to the same guys who own Baumhower's Victory Grill. Looks like the regulars have kept coming because the place is pretty packed for lunch. As far as I can tell from a single plate of barbecue it hasn't changed all that much. Fried potatoes are still golden fried deliciousness and you just can't beat their cornbread. I did notice from their posted hours that they close right after lunch so don't expect any barbecue for dinner. I was worried this great Auburn eatery was facing the same fate as Price's Barbecue House and being bulldozed to build another student housing complex. Thankfully that is not the case. read more

Best local bbq joint in Tiger land. An old converted Arby's into one comfortable family friendly bbq joint that also does a mighty fine breakfast. Recommend the chipped plate--pork finely chopped, with flavor dominating over the sauce. Plenty of sauces on the table if you want more. Lots of superior sides. My recommendations are their take on Brunswick Stew--lots of pulled chicken, veggies and a rich sauce--and the fried potatoes, what we call home fries in the Volunteer state. But these are superior--well drained and crunchy. Decent cornbread too. Soda drinks on the fountain and iced tea--serve yourself. Friendly service, good food, reasonable prices. I've been going to Byron's for two years now, I've loved the experience everyday up until today. I couldn't help but notice the owner being very rude to customers. This was my first impression of him, and it was most definitely a negative one. Getting mad and causing a scene for customers being on the way waiting for food (mind you, there is very little space and it is very crowded) is not okay. Even the workers at the front were exchanging glances with me that they were obviously uncomfortable and embarrassed. It is a shame because the food is fantastic and this staff is always extremely friendly, I hope that he can put forth a better face and more effort for such an established restaurant! read more

The last 3 times I've been back, I witnessed a server being screamed at / berated - out in the open - with a full dining room of customers. Two of us ate here today for lunch. First time here. I ordered the chopped pork plate with potato salad, fried okra, Brunswick stew and a cornbread muffin. I also got a piece of pecan pie for desert to go. My wife ordered the sausage plate with fried okra and Mac and cheese with white bread. Everything was very good especially the pork and fried okra. The cornbread was cooked perfectly. We were both very pleased with the meals. The sausage was mild with a very good taste. Not spicy at all.
