My son and I are on vacation and I wanted to try this place out for some good breakfast, we weren't expecting the world, however we also weren't impressed with the service, nor the food. I ordered the crab cakes Beni and a side of bacon my son ordered mauna kea, comes with noodles, garlic chicken, fried rice, and teriyaki beef. the beef was rubbery and too sweet, the chicken was rotten. I ate about half of the Beni I started feeling ill so o stoped eating it. My son took a few bites of his the chicken was black on the inside and tasted foul. His rice was the most bland thing you could've tasted, and after getting ready to leave we were forced to pay full price for the food we have barely eaten that was making us sick we literally stopped eating the food in fear of terrible food poisoning. We felt sick after a few bites because it was so greasy, super salty and sweet. They deep fried their bacon, leaving it with no taste. The crab cakes were so greasy, salty with no freshness and tasted fishy. I could barley eat a half a portion of a tiny meal before it started giving me a stomach ache. The only reason I paid is because I was in duress due to both the cook and some meat head who looked like he had just gotten out of prison that claimed he was related to the owner and his girlfriend getting involved screaming, yelling, physically surrounding us getting up in our faces eventually threatening me, my son. So were not about to let us leave without payment though I openly verbally disagreed to owing any amount for rotten food. I was in fear of getting attacked having my son end up assaulted due to the fact we complained about the food being rotten. I should have had them contact law enforcement. Don't go here this is a local hell hole! I bet the reviews on here are from friends not real clients and defiantly not vacationers with expectations of a decent restaurant. Rotten food! Dysfunctional threatening intimidation if you don't like it. I will be contesting all charges on my credit card! Because I paid in duress and I was not agreeable to the charges and this is the notification of that! UPDATE!!! We have progressively started feeling more and more sick as the day went by. I woke up chocking on my own vomit. Which vomiting in your sleep is a definite sign of food poisoning. When I was in the restaurant asking why we were being charged full price for rotten food is when the man stood up and started threatening us. It was not due to my sons actions it was due to the fact that this particular person was related to the owner and didn't want me speaking out loud and openly about being served rotten food! My son told him this was not between him and us it was between us and the waitstaff, to which he replied again I am related to the owner. Kindness is not serving tourists rotten food, charging full price for it and having your local henchmen or friends, relatives threaten your patrons because they are openly complaining about the terrible food quality and cost. It's not right to serve anyone rotten food and charge for it, in fact it's illegal. While I was there I observed the cook and other staff come in and out of the kitchen on several occasions and not wash hands before returning to the kitchen. I observed food left out in large containers not being stored properly. The conditions of the restaurant were unclean, with a greasy film all over everything including the dishes, tables and walls the floors were sticky. There are also other reviews that state this as well as reference and photos of rotten food. You obviously don't care about customer service and only want to take tourists money while serving rotten food in hazardous health and safety conditions which fully warrants a complaint to your state health department! My first experience here wasn't the best. I decided to give it a try yesterday again. First I would like to start by saying that this establishments floor is so greasy and dirty. I was slipping in my crocs walking to the table. My server with the tattoos seemed pretty strange honestly. She was talking so fast I couldn't even get her name or understand a word she was saying. Maybe they let their workers be on drugs but that's definitely the vibes I got. Food came out and egg yolk was already cracked on my easy over eggs. My husband walked over to transfer our laundry and I stayed and finished my soda. Before i could finish I was immediately rushing to the bathroom because I needed to vomit. I knew the food was shit here but I didn't think it was too the point where my body is immediately rejecting the food I put down. I took care of my business and as I got up I notice c*ke in a baggie in the bathroom stall on the little steel trash can used for feminine products. There is quite some homeless but I've watched these girls turn away people from using the bathroom if they aren't customers so you make the connection for where the drugs came from. They offer a variety of breakfast and lunch options. A lighter side menu for vegetarians and limited palates with the ease of modifications so that everyone can find something great. Personally, I love the veggie Bennie with a side of crispy bacon in the morning. The Teri burger deluxe or Mauna Kea in the afternoon. Either way both breakfast and lunch is served all day. If you stop by don't forget to get the "walk through the country" or Banana Mac Nut pancakes. Ask about the daily specials like UBE pancakes and Crabcake salad with Avocado poke!!! You won't be disappointed. If you are visiting the island stop by to taste Hawai'i and experience the spirit of Aloha. Don't forget, take out and curbside is also an option. Let me start off to day, the service is hands down the BEST my family and I have ever gotten. It's so welcoming. You don't get that every time nor do you feel like it's a family oriented place, which this place is. The servers are amazing. I have never had a bad experience EVER!You can feel how happy they are to serve you. The food is amazing. Our family comes here often because not once have we ever had a bad experience. Looking at some of the other reviews, it seems like some of you just be finding a reason to say negative things. Me and my family went to country side cafe in keaau this morning there was live music and raffles going on and our server Kira told us that it was there grand opening. We were able to try there lilikoi biscuits that they were giving out free to customers dining in. Our server Kira was super friendly and gave us the best first experience. Some places don't refill your water or drinks but Kira was on it. If you want to go eat breakfast somewhere welcoming with expectational customer service I say go to country side cafe in keaau. read more

Wow, i really love this place. they have such great customer service and so much personality in the food and in the servers. i have come multiple times and tried some really great food. i recommend garlic chicken, country steak, adobo fried rice and so much more. make sure you check the specials out. you can really tell that this place cares about their food and their service. countryside cafe opens at 7am so you don't have to stop mid day to get breakfast!!! read more

Seems to be shut down based on their signage, or possibly they are still open but care little about their appearance.
