When we first started, my son was 3 years old, and we truly loved his teacher. He adjusted well, was happy, and we felt like we had found a good fit for our family. Things started to change when he turned 4 and moved into the Pre-K classroom. During his time in that class, there were 3-4 teacher changes, and the lack of consistency was very difficult for him. We started seeing more behavioral struggles and tried to work with the school to figure out how we could support him together. Unfortunately, we often felt like communication was lacking, and we weren't getting a clear picture of what was happening during his days there. By the time we were made aware of the full extent of the issues, his behaviors had escalated to things like hitting, biting, and trying to leave the school. Even then, we felt the severity of what was happening was not fully communicated. A few months before they decided to unenroll him, we started receiving more details about what had been happening. These were things we felt should have been documented and communicated on the days they occurred, rather than being shared months later. We provided multiple plans and suggestions and truly tried to partner with the school. However, it often felt like our ideas were dismissed with a "we can't do that," or they would try something once or twice and decide it wasn't working. There was no consistent approach, and we never felt like everyone was working toward the same goal. This experience was disappointing because we genuinely wanted to work together to help our son succeed. Unfortunately, I would not recommend NTLC for children who are strong-willed, struggle with transitions, or need additional behavioral support. If your child does not fit the expectations outlined in their handbook, it felt like the staff struggled to determine how to best support them. While there were staff members we appreciated, our overall experience was that the communication and support from administration were not what we needed during a challenging time. We also found that questions and feedback were often met with defensiveness rather than an open conversation focused on finding solutions.

We moved out of state and leaving them was the hardest part. I also respect and appreciate that they don't sugar coat things, if my child was having behaviors the teachers are very professional and take the time to talk with me about it and how we can work together as a team to improve the behaviors. I can speak personal that they've helped my daughter with lots of development that I wasn't seeing when she was at her other daycare!! Ive been alerted anytime there has been an issue and they have parent-teacher conferences to discuss your child's growth! Other facilities averaged about $175.00 less a month, which would pay other bills. However, as luck would have it, CL-Oak Point was the best choice based on availability and location. Three months in, we are THRILLED with our decision to enroll our child. There have been many noticeable improvements in terms of writing, math, and various other academic measures. Most importantly, he truly enjoys his time there, only being upset when I pick him up earlier than anticipated. An added bonus is that tuition includes breakfast, an AM snack, lunch, and a PM snack. That alone offsets $100.00 a month. One thing that I would like to point out for those that have concerns about children being left on busses is that due to the time I arrive for pick up, I often see the bus arrive to drop kids off. When it arrives, kids are accounted for more than once to assure no one is left behind. Finally, the school offers monthly "date nights" for parents. For less than the cost of most babysitters, you can have a few hours to yourself with your significant other, all while keeping the belly of your kiddo full!

And the empowerment and passion begins at the top and certainly reflects the whole way down. Our daughter has deeply missed school, friends, and routine since covid and a career change put us on a new track one year ago. After much thought and far too many lonnnnng days at home with an energetic and curious wanderer, we knew it was time to get her back on track and in the "game". We are so incredibly thankful to have found such an amazing school minutes from our home! I knew as soon as I walked through the front door that Children's Lighthouse was the best option for our baby girl and that she would be loved and cared for by the way the educators conducted themselves without knowing anyone was observing. These ladies love what they do and that love pours onto these kiddos. I am so thankful for Katie, Director, being there to lead the pack of dedicated and devoted educators in a way that spreads pure joy and energy through those halls! If I can't be there with our baby girl every day, I'm thankful she and her team are! I know my baby is in loving and wonderful hands every day! The longtime owner recently sold the business and there have been a lot of changes. I'm sure that will settle and then it just comes down to your personal preferences and what you want out of a child care. Most of the teachers are wonderful and you can tell they really care about the kids. Where I think there needs to be significant improvement is in addressing the needs of kids with food allergies, keeping a better handle on the Explorer age kids, and communication to parents in general. If you have a child with food allergies, I would highly recommend you look elsewhere. We had issues with our child being fed foods he was allergic to, reports coming home saying he had been feds he was allergic to that we were subsequently told were typos, and not always being provided menus with allergy information in a timely manner (so that we could bring substitute food in). Another mom told me she had recently witnessed my child eating another child's snack (he was allergic to) when the teacher wasn't looking. She intervened and the teacher thanked her but I was never notified about it. It probably explains why he randomly vomited in our car, though. It was just a string of reoccuring issues over a long period of time that I felt was glossed over and never adequately addressed. It was a hassle. If you have an older child ("Explorers age"), I would also recommend looking elsewhere. When my child was put into Explorers, all of a sudden I started having behavior issues (language, attitude, etc.) and I know I wasn't the only parent who felt that way. Again, my complaints fell on deaf ears. My sense is that it is a lot of younger people (college age?) who don't have the experience to know when they need to correct behavior and/or communicate to parents. I spent my summer trying to deprogram my child and still got a note back from his fall teacher (at a regular school) saying he was ornery.

This daycare was the BEST choice for my kids. The teachers are so kind and patient with our kids, and keep me updated in the app throughout the day. The front desk staff is so welcoming and caring towards my children, shout out to Ms. Melissa.
