From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warmness, they move you into a room quickly and tend to your pets with care. Our dog was in severe, life-threatening respiratory distress-wheezing, coughing violently, hacking up foam, and unable to stand. We have nationwide insurance through PetsBest that covers 80% of his care, which includes an emergency direct-pay hardship form that wires the covered balance within 3 to 5 days. For weeks, the front staff neglected to send our dog's historical files to the insurance company, lying about the dates they sent them and telling us it was too much of a 'hassle' to fill out.When we physically carried our limp dog into the clinic today, the veterinarian looked at him, heard what her staff had put us through, and promised us on her word that she would accept our insurance form and treat him. Wiped out financially, I scraped together our last pennies, and my mother selflessly provided the remaining 20% co-pay ($125).Minutes after paying, the doctor called us back, sounding incredibly nervous. She reneged on her medical word. She admitted that the clinic was no longer run by locals-it had been bought out by a corporation, and her corporate payment director was refusing the insurance form. They demanded the full balance completely upfront, handed us useless medication we already owned, pocketed our last $125 for a 2-minute 'glance,' and forced us to wheel my suffocating dog back out to the car.They do not care about animals; they care about corporate margins and profit quotas. I took my dog in for a checkup, and the vet told me that my boy had an arrhythmia. She then told me that she didn't feel comfortable prescribing him medication until he was seen by a specialist. Totally understandable! After the vet left our room the vet tech came in with her as they were discharging us. The vet tech said that Dr.Cain should start us on a heart med. I was very concerned about this, as I had never heard of a vet tech prescribing medication. But the Dr.Cain just kind went along with it after the vet tech brought up that "it wouldn't hurt" Mind you I asked if I could record the findings as I tend to miss things that are said so I have ALL of this recorded. I called the next day after my dog had serious side effects and to to ask about the medication. The receptionist put me on hold and talked with the owner. She came back and said that Misty (the owner) said to NOT give that to him as it would not give us clear results when we got in with the cardiologist in a few weeks. I am very upset that my dog was given medication without a proper diagnosis. NOT EVEN DIAGNOSED AND THEY ARE GIVING OUT MEDS. In addition, the receptionist was very rude and unpleasant. She made me feel like I was an inconvenience when i just have my pets best interest at heart as I should. I would not recommend Tigertown Veterinary Hospital to anyone!
