Vets are very nice, but the prices are astronomical... Way more than most other veterinary places

We have been a patient at Countryside for 8 years. Overall, our experience was okay until our last visit in July. When you are waiting to PAY for your visit and your dog has already left the building to get completely ignored by reception, it's unacceptable. Two girls at the desk, one talking with a couple who was delivering a gift of some sort, the other on the phone. Ok no problem, I waited thinking the girl on the phone would hang up and check me out. The other girl finished talking to the couple and took the gifts to the back but left one basket up front behind the counter. A tech opened the door, delivered the gentlemen sitting down his dog, the girl on the phone hung up and called the man who just got his dog to the counter! CLEARLY ignoring me. She didn't even say, I'm waiting on paperwork for you or SOMETHING.... Then had the audacity to finish up with guy and his dog and say OUT LOUD "I should take this basket to the back" pick up the basket and walked away!! I'm standing there, two other people have now walked in and are in line behind me to check-in and I'm just at a loss. I just wanted to pay my bill!!!! I went home, my dog was out in the parking lot with my young daughter waiting for me. They could have sent the bill, I would have paid it immediately. We are now booked with a new vet and need our dogs records. My husband calls and we understand we are gonna have to pay the outstanding bill to capture his records. The girl on the phone was just as nasty to my husband, sorry but people change phone numbers all the time, if you couldn't reach me by phone, you absolutely have my address. The girl on the phone with my husband today was just as nasty as the girl behind the counter the day I was there. We are done using this practice, if this is how you treat long time HUMAN patients then I can only imagine how you are treating my dog. read more

The Veterinarians are extremely caring and excellent at diagnosing and treating our pets health needs. Their pricing is always fair and explained to you at your visit. Overall they are the absolute BEST veterinarians I have ever been to! I highly recommend them with 2 thumbs up! read more

Love, love, love this vet! The boy and I recently adopted a crazy little kitten...and we wanted to make sure he was well taken of. We asked around and numerous people referred us to this place..so off I went to make an appointment. From the very first minute I called, everyone I spoke with was super, super nice. They took down all the information, didn't laugh at the kitten's name(it's kinda weird for a cat), and called to confirm as well. When we got there, we were impressed with how bright and clean the vet is--no funky vet smell either. They took down our kitten's short history and took a picture of him to keep on file. He loved everyone that took care of him and they were very gentle with shots, clipping his nails, and inspecting him. They didn't try to sells us shots or anything he wouldn't need either, being an indoor cat. They actually took something off for that reason. The only reason they aren't five stars is the fact that they are definitely more expensive then other vets in the area. They are totally worth it though!!! I only came here for a short time after moving from New Jersey earlier this year, but I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Micinilio and Dr. Salvatore. Both gave excellent care to my dog Marley and always kept me informed about some health things he had been dealing with. Dr. Micinilio even called me with good news on a Sunday before his vacation which just goes to show you how much these people care and how hard they work. The front desk staff and the techs are all really friendly and you can tell they love their patients. The office is clean and up to date. They are working in the 21st century with text reminders and pet portal. Great place! Just be aware that the waiting room gets busy and can be really stressful! My dog was a weirdo and loved the vet so for him this was no biggie, but if it's a full house some dogs might feel it. And there is always that one owner who has bad control of their animal lol. read more

For years, I went to Dr. Agresta at Huntington Animal Hospital on Mohegan Road. I had two dogs and two cats over the many years I went to Dr Agresta. When my pets had a problem or were sick, I would call his office first thing in the morning and if they were booked up, they would tell me to drop off my pet and the vet would examine him between patients and call me with a diagnosis and treatment plan. I never, ever, was turned away and he always let me bring my pet in when they were sick without waiting for an "available appointment". Dr Agresta and his staff truly cared for their regular patients and accommodated them when they were in need. I was very sad to see him retire and close his practice. I was in search of a new vet and chose your office a few years ago. Up until now, we only needed routine shots and exams. Yesterday afternoon I noticed my cat was not eating and found a lump on her side. I hesitated to bring her to the emergency hospital because I did not think this was an emergency, however thought her doctor should see her right away. I called first thing this morning and the person who answered the phone told me you can't see her for three days because you're booked up so I had to either wait or take her to the emergency place. This is the first time I have needed you with a sick pet and you would not see her for three days. You know how it is with cats, by the time you realize they are sick, they are probably really sick and need to be seen promptly. I was taken aback that you refused to do what Dr Agresta always did and let me drop her off so that you could examine her at some point today. When I suggested that, I was told "we don't do that, sorry". She was more concerned with explaining that it was a day after a holiday and you had a lot of other emergencies and only had two doctors and on and on about all of your problems with scheduling and how busy you were without ever asking what was wrong with my cat. You can imagine how disappointed I was in your practice and the lack of concern of your office helpers. Plus I may as well go to the emergency center for the high prices you charge. By the way, I did so, and I felt a genuine sense of care and compassion from the receptionist, technicians and doctor there, a place where am not a regular patient. She had a fever of 105 and a large abscess - not something that could wait three days until you could fit us in. It was $1,200 which I felt was reasonable and in fact was less than what you charged for a teeth cleaning/extraction. I also see that you were sold to "Community Veterinary Partners", a large group of veterinarian offices out of Philadelphia, back in 2017 - thus the cost of your services being so high, more overhead and the need to conform to corporate pricing. Cost aside, my number one concern is the health of my pets. We need a vet for two things - routine care and illness. You were not there at all in my cat's (your patient's) time of need. I am moving my pets to another veterinarian who is highly recommended by a relative of mine. read more

I love Countryside it is spotless, and beautiful. the ladies at the desk are very efficient and kindly. It was in March that I had to bring my dog, Nanook in to be put to sleep-It all happened so fast as he collapsed that morning and was a very old dog I called them and they took me right away within an hour which was incredible. Then I met Dr, Marotta(a real life angel) He and his two lovely assistants were so kind to us, gentle and patient with a lot of empathy. they let us take as much time with nanook as possible. there was no suffering and no pain as Dr Marotta, with so much compassion, tenderly helped Nanook slip away in peace. I will never forget all their humanity and benevolence. They took the time to give me the pawprint plaque and some beautiful poems also they sent a lovely card with condolences , again unbelievable . I will cherish these forever your Kindnesses are always remembered and imprinted on our hearts Thank-you Dr Marotta and all at Countryside from the bottom of my heart and Nanook is thanking you all from his soul in heaven. when I get more dogs we will be gong to countryside and Dr Marotta of course! read more

I have been bringing my pets to Countryside for at least 15 years. The vets and staff are professional and compassionate...not just with me, but I have also observed them handling other clients ... some of who can be impatient or difficult...with kindness and understanding. They have gotten busier the last couple of years so plan your preventative/checkups in advance (as we now also have to do with doctors, dentists, hairdressers - this trend is not limited to veterinarians). However I have also found when I had an emergency, as I did recently, they found a way to accommodate me and my beloved boxer. Although I recently moved, I still travel 45 minutes to bring my friends to a practice I trust...I can't imagine going somewhere else. Thank you Dr. Santee and team. read more

We have used Countryside Vet for our cats and dogs for over ten years and we are very happy with the care they have received. One of my dogs has anxiety and they go above and beyond the help her feel comfortable. From the separate seating areas in the waiting room, aromatherapy blankets to calm her down, an outside seating area so I can let her sniff flowers and relax before our appointment. I had good experiences here, until I became concerned for my pet's safety. I think one bad apple (woman vet in this practice) destroyed the bunch for me. She pressed my husband for the Lyme vaccination and my poor dog was sick all last summer because of it. And not for nothing but this vet is EXPENSIVE. Granted, I'm writing this review based on a single visit, but that single visit was enough for me to never want to step foot in the office again. The waiting area was packed, loud, and stressful. Trying to fill out paperwork in this was a huge pain. During the exam, I didn't feel at all that the staff was terrifically interested in what I had to say, everyone seemed irritated (perhaps because the entire building seemed stressed?!), and it was expensive. Now I go to Sherman Hill Animal Hospital in Woodbury and it's an infinitely better experience. read more

This vet receptionists are terrible with people skills there always rude. I had bin going there for years just to end up finding out that I've bin getting ripped off bye high pricing and my animals always seem to not get better but worse. My littlegirl went there for an ear infection they I made her have a blown eardrum and then administered medication without my consent a new medication that hadn't been used and was brand new and State is in a very big letters to please ask owner if OK to make a long story short my dog walked in happy shaking her tailAnd I carried her out in a blanket without her able to walk ..., after taking her to NewTown animal Hospital a few times and a grand later she started walking again.... I would never recommend anybody going to this vet they're overpriced and they do not care about your animals they do careless things all the vet techs are not licensed vet techs so pretty much you have any Tom Dick and Harry handling your baby's .... that's what schools are for not to learn on my dog that's by the way 16 years old I don't know folks I quickly switched all six animals of mine over to Huntington animalClinic in Shelton Connecticut they are the bestAll of their work techs are licensed Technicians OK good luck I hope this helps read more

Everyone I spoke to at Countryside was very friendly, and very helpful. The vet who looked at my cat was extremely patient with him, and very accommodating towards his uncooperative nature with strangers. Both she and the vet technician were very gentle with him, and were able to perform the entire examination without a sedative. (Another previous location tried pushing me to give him a sedative after she roughly handled him, and he retaliated). The vet stayed and talked to us for a while about lots of helpful information regarding the health of our kitty, and she was very patient with all of our questions. My husband, myself and our cat, all left here very happy that the our visit to the vet wasn't a traumatic experience. You can tell that everyone here loves their job, and loves the animals they work with. read more

Can you give negative stars????? I always thought Countryside was outlandishly expensive but the care was always top notch so we stayed with them......that is until they failed (killed?) my 5 month old black lab Zuri. She went a week ago Wednesday in extreme pain - we mentioned it seemed to be belly pain when you lifted her, mentioned a small vomit, she had bloody stool in the office, but that she was eating fine......they diagnosed her with a neck injury - not a specific injury - just a "hurt" neck, no x-rays or test on neck to confirm, just well she cried when I touched there so that must be it. Sent us home on pain killers which masked her symptoms until it was too late. You see she had swallowed a knife blade somehow but Countryside missed it and we trusted them. Even as she started screaming in pain Sunday night I thought well it just must have been re-injured - It trusted you - it was not until she started vomiting up fecal matter at 2 AM that I realized they were wrong. I had her at Countryside when the doors opened Monday morning - she was already in septic shock. They took an x-ray and finally found the real problem - 6 days later!!!! They sent me to an ER almost an hour away.....but I had to wait to leave for 10-15 minutes as they prepared the $800 x-ray bill that HAD to be paid before they would let me bring my dog to the ER.....I could have come back and paid - every second counted. Zuri died in recovery from the surgery. Oh the Dr. who initially treated Zuri was the "fill-in" for Dr. Jim...We will never forget. read more

We have been going to CountrySide for twenty years, we brought our puppy in for an emergency visit on Wed. 3/20. My husband had called the day before 3/19 of my 5 month old lab Zuri's stomach concerns, sensitivity of stomach but no eating issues. Her cries Wednesday though were heart-wrenching, the receptionist who answered the phone heard the cry, while I was explaining Zuri's pain. The receptionist told me to hold and I said in exact words, "can you see Zuri? or, should I go to Central Vet Hospital?" Receptionist said "leave now and come down", I wanted to go there because we trusted them so my husband rushed down. Emily Salvatore"s diagnosed a non-existent neck injury in 5 minutes without speaking to the him first. She re-assured my husband even after Zuri did a bloody stool in the office. They did not do X-rays but did give pain meds and instructed to call if she did not improve in 3-4 days. Zuri improved quickly and was normal by Friday. On Sunday Zuri started to cry again, she ate her breakfast but by Sunday night she was really crying again and did not eat. She started vomiting as well late in the night. My husband brought Zuri back to Countryside first thing Monday morning. This time they took x-rays. Turns out they has missed the real cause of Zuri's injury Wednesday - a sharp object that had been swallowed and punctured poor Zuri's belly. Our baby had emergency surgery but the infection from a week old stomach puncture was too much to overcome and she passed in recovery. Two days after death, her orthopedic bed from Wayfair arrived. We ordered on 3/24 the day before our Zuri died. We still believed the doctors at Countryside's diagnosis. We lost part of our heart and world. read more

We were fortunate enough to have met Dr. Block (and 2 wonderful vet techs who we cannot recall their names) in the most unfortunate circumstance. Today we made the decision to put our dog to sleep. She was kind, realistic, and went above and beyond to explain our options with a tremendous amount of patience. This vet provides absolutely top notch care for their animals. I can't say enough good things about the care I have received for my very very sick dog. From the girls in the front office being incredibly incredibly kind and helpful, to the female doctor who gave me the most clear and thoughtful explanation for all bases of my pets care... everyone is on top of their game. I only wish this place was closer to where I live. I will just say that I have tried out three vets and one hospital in the past three years and I just find that either they tried to overcharge you and over vaccinate your animals or they really just were not as thorough as this place...really Countryside is the exception!! My wife and I took our Border Collie of almost 17 years in today for the last time as he was no longer able to have a good life due to physical deterioration. Everyone involved was so thoughtful and kind it made the experience peaceful and comforting. Countryside has been there for us and our pets and always treated all of us very well. They provided so much time and care with compassion, proper diagnosis, and was able to help me with a care plan for him and at a reasonable cost. The majority of staff here are super friendly and helpful. The front desk workers and vet techs always make an effort to be caring and attentive to any issues. That said, when it comes to the veterinarians, be careful who you choose. There is one vet in particular that seems to favor a lot of medication and testing, even when there are alternatives. I have to admit I have limited experience with this, but the few times I received advice from this vet she suggested prescription medication and refused to answer questions about alternatives. Even when I asked about an alternative suggested by the vet tech. She just seems very rigid, harsh and unconcerned. My experiences with all of the other vets have been very positive. Although it may be a bit expensive, CVH has convenient hours and is accommodating about emergencies/sick visits. The majority of the rate seem to really care about my dog and seem invested in her overall well being. read more
