Do NOT bring your bunny here. This place has no idea how to treat rabbits, and worse -- they don't seem to care. The male doctor ignored everything we told him. We explained our rabbit was in GI stasis: not eating, not drinking, showing clear symptoms. He brushed it off and said her vitals were "fine." (Rabbits can be dying and still show stable vitals -- any rabbit-savvy vet would know that.) Instead of helping, he handed over some medication with no guidance, no urgency, and zero compassion. We were sent home without instructions for syringe feeding, hydration, or anything that could've saved her life. Our rabbit died because of this clinic's inexperience and lack of care. This was not a minor oversight -- it was fatal neglect. If you value your rabbit's life, do not stop here. Go somewhere that actually understands rabbit emergencies and takes action. Last summer my 12 year old terrier was having a bad time with vomiting when we were visiting family. After talking to some frantic vets, Trumbull Animal Hospital really took the time to ask what she's had before and they did some tests, but not ones we had recently had at our local vet. I was very happy with the service and the ability to get my dog to a better state during our visit. I gave 4 stars rather than 5 because they sold and recommended a dog food that was supposedly neutral for my dog's stomach- the ingredients were basically all junk and did not seem to be promoting health, but rather to make a sale. So I would say a great vet for acute situations, but otherwise work with somewhere that takes a holistic approach regarding eating and lifestyle for your critters. read more

We have two dogs, two cats and a parrot. Trumbull Animal Hospital can handle all of them as they have a vet who is very familiar with exotic animals. Dr. DeFebezio is absolutely fantastic with our dogs as is another female vet. (Sorry, i forget her name) The entire staff are professional, knowledgeable and friendly. They have fair pricing but I recommend getting insurance as everything in the NE is so expensive. Not only did that not give care that they said they did that resulted in the need to put my animal down less then an hour after they discharged him but they have zero compassion. The owner talks like he is from the streets. Took two weeks to get my animals medical records which are inaccurate because he was so busy writing comments about the reactions from a grieving family!!!I. Warning any animal owner to avoid this disaster of an animal hospital!!! How do you grade an animals condition as a 1 out of 5 but never administer hydration in the 8 hours he was in there care. While the staff is very pleasant and great with our dogs the overall business model is a scam. Every time we have gone in for an exam they have somehow found a surgery or procedure that could be done and constantly trying to charge you more and more money. Not to mention, these procedures are thousands of dollars. Be sure to check your invoice before paying it because they will add things that aren't approved. Our dogs needed their second round of their vaccine and we were told it's a quick stop just to get the second (they've already done through a full exam the month prior). Not only were we charged the exam visits and the vaccine but they added an "ear exam" to tell us she may or may not have an ear infection. Mind you, this is also curbside. When asked why we are being charged an exam fee they said just in case the dogs have a reaction? The bill for the second round of shots was almost $300. They justified their exam price by saying they are charging us half the normal amount. Unfortunately some vet practices have become a bit predatory knowing that our pets our like our children. And I've gotten the predatory vibe every time to doctor comes in. It is unfortunate and drives a lack of trust. We've been with the practice almost a year and ultimately will need to find a new one as this has been repeated behavior every visit. read more

Went for 3pm appointment. Got 10mins late because of traffic. At the reception they greeted me well and checked me in. Waited for 35mins before nurse came to get me inside. Left me in the room until 4pm. When inquired when can I see the doctor, I am told by the manager that I was late that's why there is a delay. It's 4.10pm now. I was okay that because I was late for 10mins there was a delay in seeing the doctor, and they were busy too. However I could have been told that atleast 30-40mins before and given me a choice to leave if I could not wait this long. Finally saw the doctor around 4.15pm. She seemed good, knowledgeable. I have been going to this facility for the past twenty years and had been very happy but unfortunately I had to find another vet in the area and found a great place that I highly recommend. This past Wednesday my dog got into a fight with another dog and suffered some injuries to her head and ear. I managed to clean her up and on Thursday I called but they were closed. Left a message explaining the situation but got no call back from them. Around noon on Friday I called again and the person answering the call said that they are fully booked and I have to pay an extra $130 to be seen in between their appointments and I got very upset and called other vets in the area. As you can expect all were booked but almost all told me that they will call me if someone canceled and Just then I found a vet who told me to bring her right in and he would squeeze her in due to her condition. We have recently switched to Dr. Wendy Robertson at Trumbull Animal Hospital for our 12 year old Havanese, Parker. A year ago, Parker was diagnosed with heart disease, and we really needed a new vet, in addition to our veterinary cardiologist. Dr. Robinson was highly recommended by our dog groomer who had worked as a vet tech with her before opening her own grooming business. Doctor Robinson is so thorough in her care for our little guy. She is extremely thoughtful and detailed with her diagnosis, and she takes so much time to address all of the concerns that we have - there have been many questions. We never feel rushed, even when she has squeezed us in without an appointment. She also consistently follows up to check on him - which is so reassuring. Dr. Robinson is coordinating Parker's treatment with his cardiologist, leaving us feeling so reassured that he is getting the best care we can provide for him. I wish that we had started out with Dr Robinson 12 years ago when we first brought our little guy home. She is clearly very knowledgeable and enthusiastic in her practice and stays on top of things. Take your business elsewhere if you have a large breed dog. The staff is so afraid that the nurse throws the muzzle and leash to the ground... then demands you to place it onto your dog. The vet prescribed and billed me calming medication for my dog when I advised and complained to them that a calming medication will not be necessary due to potential side effects. Lastly, the vet or doctor didn't even come into the treatment room at the end to consult... instead they sent the nurse into the room to consult. Highly unprofessional and disrespectful staff. The last 2 visits for my other pets were average. Today, March 18th I had a follow up appointment for the 2nd round of the vaccines. My appointment was set for 10:10am, I was running behind about 10-20 minutes. I called and asked would the Vet would my dog still be able to be seen. The lady, I think her name was Amaya or Maya and said "yes, as long as you don't have questions, it would be just for the vaccine." I responded and said "no questions, just for the 2nd round." I arrived at 10:29am checked in and waited. Based on my observation while waiting to be called the vet techs called for a Fritz multiple times and there was no Fritz. As soon as Fritz arrived the pet was immediately seen and that pet owner was late as well. I was not given the same accomodation. I asked the receptionist at 11:40am if my dog would still be seen and she responded with due to the multiple appointments I would have to reschedule. I was infuriated! The lack of professionalism and transparency at this Vet is extremely poor. Customer service is definitely lacking. Every time I've called Dr. O takes weeks to return my call, I've emailed him as well and the excuse is always the same, when I finally get him on the phone and that is that they are busy. Being sold a blood test before listening to the concern we were in for. Then Being told they will not give a prescription for my dogs heart worm medication she is on without doing a blood test for $77. Had me Muzzle my dog and lay on her in an attempt to draw blood so I can fill her medication. So I came here because I took my dog to a spay clinic and it just wasnt closed right well almost at all or healing. They took my baby in cleaned her right up closed her incision properly and thoroughly ( active girl) and they just overall did an amazing job! My 13 year old Chihuahua went to the Trumbull Animal Hospital for eye surgery. After a few days, she was not doing well, so I brought her in thinking I was going to have to put her down as she was now totally blind and had other diseases. The vet said to do more tests ($$$) because she might just have pancreatitis which is very curable, and she would be fine. I did the tests, and she did have pancreatitis, so my options were take home medicine ($600) or leave her in the hospital to be monitored for 2 days ($1200). I decided because of her age to leave her in the hospital, because I wanted her monitored. At 5 pm the first day I called to check on her, and was told she was doing great. At 6:30 pm the say day, I got a call that said I needed to pick up my dog and bring her to a vet. You could imaging my surprise, as she was already at a vet. They said she took a turn for the worse, and needed to be watched. I then asked them, since I agreed to the $1200 for her to be monitored why I needed to bring her somewhere else to be monitored. They said that no one stays with the dogs overnight, and they could call an emergency clinic and I could bring her there so she could be watched. God only knows what that would cost. I went to pick up my dog, and I wanted to speak to the vet to find out what was going on, as he deterred me from putting her down that morning, and advised that what she had was minor and curable. All that I got was a lot of "I don't know". Every question we asked was followed with the same response. At this point, I was hysterical, and demanded to see my dog. They brought her in half dead, deep breathing like she is just about to die. It is ridiculous that they were suggesting to bring her somewhere else instead of put her down. You go to the vet for advice, not for them to tell you they don't know what is going on with your pet when you trusted them with their life. Within about 10 minutes, she died in our arms. She would not have made it to another vet, and I would think a veterinarian would be able to determine if a dog was minutes from death. Apparently not them. Today, I called to have my other dogs nails trimmed (we have been going here for over 13 years) and I was told the owner has decided that we are no longer welcome at this office. Good riddance. Think twice before taking your animals here, make sure you have a lot of money. Also be aware that if you are leaving them overnight, no one is going to be monitoring or watching them as implied. read more

I have been to Trumbull Animal Hospital twice now with my dog after moving from MA. My first visit was an urgent one as I couldn't get in anywhere else so was great to be seen the same day and have his issue sorted quickly. Im going to make it our regular as while its not the closest animal hospital, the staff are very friendly and feel my dog is getting great care.
