TLDR: Problems with responsiveness and communication. Unable or unwilling to acknowledge or take in…read morehow they've been treating their customers. Makes me wonder if it's all just an attempt to upsell. Wouldn't recommend. R&M came to my house for standard HVAC maintenance visits in March and September of 2025. They seemed to be reasonably priced. I can't speak to their competence in conducting these visits because they didn't find anything wrong with the system, and it's hard to evaluate their expertise under those circumstances. During the September visit, the technician said that I should have my ducts cleaned at some point during the following year, and that the technique they used would require them to remove all of the registers in the house and probably damage the surrounding paint, requiring repainting. I have been considering moving, and I thought it would make sense to wait on the duct cleaning, since I would repaint the rooms before putting the house up for sale, and any prospective buyers would be happier with vents that had been freshly cleaned. Six months after I was told I should have a duct cleaning within a year, it was time for my spring maintenance again. I called R&M at 1:23 pm on March 26, 2026 using the number I had saved in my phone from calling them to schedule in the past and got a weird automated message before it even rang asking me to tell it who I am so it could see whether the recipient would take my call. I thought there might have been a mistake with the connection, so I hung up, checked the number, and called back about a minute later, getting the same message. I told the automated voice who I was, and waited. Then I was told the recipient wouldn't take my call but I could leave a voicemail message, which I did. I left my name and reason for my call, and told them my phone number twice. When I didn't receive a call back, I thought there might be a problem with their phones, so I looked up their email on their website, and sent an email to their listed address (info@rmaircontrol.com) at 11:42 am on March 31 saying I had left a message that wasn't returned and I wanted to schedule my spring maintenance. I got no response. I wondered if they had closed, so I checked them out on Yelp and saw that they were supposedly still in business. I sent them a message through Yelp at 4:44 pm on April 2, saying I had tried to get in touch previously by phone and email, hadn't heard back, and that I would appreciate a response. Their response at 8:40 pm on April 2, which was forwarded to an old email account associated with Yelp that I rarely use anymore, said that their estimate was $95 and "We have the week available." When I sent them a message a few days later -- HI - Thanks for getting back to me. I'm not sure what timeframe "the week" is. What is the best way to get in touch with you to talk about specific times for scheduling a maintenance visit? Thanks -- they sent a message back at 9:03 am on April 6 that said "I do have availability from next week Tuesday." My reply sent later the same day said, "Do you mean tomorrow the 7th or the following Tuesday the 14th? This is getting to be a frustrating experience. Before we move forward, will you please tell me why you didn't answer my phone call or return my phone message, didn't answer my email sent to the address on your website, and are refusing to give me contact info to have a phone conversation with you about scheduling? This is very a very different experience than in previous years." They said, "We're sorry, but every time we email you back on a response it takes you several days so we do get booked up very fast." They subsequently sent me a message on Yelp alleging that I had never before emailed or called them or used their company for services, which is untrue. I have verified payment to them and an invoice from R&M Air Control. So I sent an email to the same email address I emailed them at before (used the "reply" function) with a copy of my original email to them on March 31 and a screenshot of my cellphone log showing I had called them on March 26. Their email reply (which proves my original email was to a working account controlled by R&M) to me said only "4/14 after 2 address," which is kind of disturbingly incoherent. I'm not sure what this was supposed to mean. They have left me wondering if they are reasonably priced and initially responsive to try to get you to buy a service that costs many hundreds of dollars, only to blow you off if you don't immediately take them up on it, or if they are just extremely incompetent, disorganized, and unable to communicate in any kind of reasonable way with their clients. In either case, I don't recommend them. Can you imagine what it would be like working with them if an actual repair issue arose? I wouldn't want to. I'm frustrated because now I have to look for a new HVAC company, and prices go up the later in the season you schedule this kind of maintenance. Very disappointing.

We signed and paid on a Wednesday, with work scheduled to begin Friday morning. I took off work and waited at the property. No one showed up and no one called. I had to contact the office myself to find out no one was coming. Work did not begin until the following Monday. Unfortunately, that was the beginning of a pattern that continued throughout the entire project. We repeatedly had to call for basic information about the status of our property. Calls went unanswered, promised callbacks did not happen, and we received vague or conflicting explanations about staffing and project status. At one point, a company employee called and had to ask us what condition our property was in and whether the house had running water. We should not have been responsible for updating the contractor's own staff on the status of their project. After the plumbing work was performed, we were told the remaining step was inspection and that the office would coordinate it. We waited, repeatedly followed up, and eventually contacted the permitting office ourselves. At that time, we were told there was no permit or application on file for our property. Meanwhile, an approximately eight-foot trench remained open in our front yard with plumbing exposed for weeks. After nearly a month of problems, we requested a refund and asked that no one from the company enter our property without authorization. The owner confirmed in writing that no one would do so. Despite that, workers arrived at the property without coordinating an arrival time with us. We received an automated notification that a technician was en route, but no inspection time had been provided. We had to call the inspection office ourselves and learned that the inspection window was 11 a.m.-1 p.m., although the company arrived hours earlier. When my husband questioned the technician about why they were there, the status of the project, and the conflicting information we had received, the company subsequently texted us accusing my husband of "harassing" the technician and stated that they had called the county and canceled the permit. This experience goes far beyond poor communication. It has involved a missed appointment, repeated failures to follow through, poor internal coordination, conflicting information, weeks of chasing answers about our own property, an extended open excavation, and ultimately being told the permit was canceled after we asked questions about what was happening. We have documented our communications, calls, property condition, and timeline. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE.

He went over the details of the tests he could run and answered every one of my dozens of questions. He answered my texts throughout the day and night. He made time in his busy schedule (squeezed in my appointment late in the day and had to work late) to run another leak test that I asked him for. He gave me the assurance I needed, not to mention a very fair pricing for the urgent leak test. Carlos is the most trustworthy contractor I've ever worked with. I appreciate his time and caring through the process. I can't recommend him enough. I figured this is the least I could do in return for his help.

Doug Knight has earned my business on behalf of his company…read more About a week ago I had a full stoppage the whole house was affected so I logged into the good ole HSA (Home Warranty) website bracing for how terrible they are and those they refer to are. They linked me up with LiveGreen plumbing out of DC, to keep the rest of this short because its not all about them. The tech informed me that the pipe needed snaked and the warranty won't cover it because he has to go through the toilet. He quoted me $638 but after his new guy got sewage water all over several of my walls and doors. He decided to drop it down to $438 SMH. On Sunday 15JUL2018 I heard the dreaded noises of the back up and sure enough my toilet couldn't flush and my shower would fill up when turned on. Sigh. I decided I was not going to use the worthless HSA or anyone the recommend this time. So away to Yelp I flew. I was apprehensive at first of Jerry's due to some of the more extreme negative reviews but decided to be my own adult and give them a try. I determined that we would live with the issue for the day to avoid extra fees and I would contact them on Monday. So on Monday the 16th I followed the link to their website to submit a request directly in hopes I would get a faster reply, I sent it at 7am ish. I was called at around 9am so pretty good in my opinion. I can't remember the name of the nice lady but she took down the problem and said she could have a technician come out that day between 12 and 4 so I said yes. I am in the military and work in DC so I couldn't be there but my grandma is and if the tech can call me when he gets there I can answer any questions he may have. at 1221 I received a text that the technician was on his way at 1234 he called and was on site and ready for the fully story. I explained that it had been snaked the week prior and that I had crawled under the house to inspect for myself yesterday and to see if the other guy had totally lied to me about clean outs. Boy was I upset to see my plumbing. The home was renovated prior to the sale and all new fixtures were installed including PVC piping from said fixtures. All of that looked great until I came to where it all comes together. I discovered that they had cut the old cast iron pipe and plugged the PVC into it. Sigh great this is why the other plumber was hinting at replacing the main line all the way to the street. I told him I was bracing for the bad news and expected it to be as high as $8000 ruff. He agreed with all the other details and said he was headed under to take a look and would call me back once he had a good assessment and estimate. At 1304 He called again. He said "Your old pipe is most likely original to the house and may have failures somewhere between you and the street we cant know that for sure unless we did the camera but then you spend the money on the camera just to spend the money on replacing so if you do want to go ahead and replace it so you don't have to worry about it I have the estimate ready" to which I took a breath and said lay it on me. This man said "Well I see about 25 feet under the house and was able to trace it to the street and its approximately 65 more feet. We would dig down to between 4 and 6 feet and lay gravel install two clean outs one by the house and one by the street. All in all to bring things to code and the excavation with your military discount your lookin at $11,347." Dramatic pause and Grandma has to sit down in the background! "But you may be able to put this off because you have sewage coming up in the ditch and I think its the counties clean out leaking because it might be blocked in their pipe, especially because you said the other plumber told you he put 175 feet of snake down and you only have about 100 feet in between that toilet and the street." to which I said "Damn your right I bet that guy saw that and saw a way to get money out of me without the warranty being involved and took advantage of how naïve I am". He finished with explaining the financing options available should I decide to go through with it and did not pressure me but reaffirmed his recommendation to call the county and come have them take a look. I Called them immediately and told them what he saw and the nice county lady said someone would be out right away or definitely this afternoon. Long story short they found their clean out and the cap had been knocked down inside and was causing the blockage. They cleared it and ran the camera finding a few other troubled areas in their system and snaked everything. Magically my problem was solved and my plumbing bill went from $11,347 to $105 just for the visit. I have saved my estimate and will definitely be calling once I am in a better position financially for my family to have my pipe replaced so that it won't become my next problem down the road. Thank you Doug and Thank you Jerry's plumbing for fostering a Team with Honesty and Integrity it is rare in this world.

Despite temperatures dropping to 3 degrees that weekend, no technician was dispatched until February 9. On February 9, a technician evaluated the furnace and diagnosed the issue as a blower motor failure. He removed the blower motor, fan, and housing assembly, stating that they would assemble the new motor with the components at their warehouse and return with the unit ready for installation. However, he was uncertain when the required part would arrive. On February 13, a different technician arrived. Security camera footage shows that he arrived carrying a small sealed box, which appeared to contain only a blower motor -- not the full housing and fan assembly that had been removed from my furnace. After briefly inspecting the unit, he came upstairs and stated, "Sorry, the wrong part was ordered. I'll try to be back later." I suspect that he probably didn't realize that the previous tech took the housing and fan with them during the previous visit. I contacted the office immediately and was informed that they would not be returning that day and instead would come back on Monday afternoon. This situation raised several concerns: 1. How was the incorrect part ordered and not verified prior to arriving at my home? 2. Why was the motor not pre-assembled with the housing and fan as previously stated? 3. Why did the technician arrive without the housing and fan that had been removed from my furnace? When I expressed that I could not wait additional days in freezing temperatures and requested that the issue be corrected as soon as possible, there was no demonstrated urgency to resolve their mistake. As a result, I contacted another HVAC company. The new company asked to FaceTime to view the furnace. They immediately noted that the unit had been left open with exposed electrical wiring and advised that there was no necessity to remove the fan and housing assembly in the first place. They were able to locate a compatible blower motor the same day but advised that they would need the fan and housing components to complete the repair promptly. I contacted Bennett Air LLC requesting the immediate return of the parts taken from my furnace. They declined to return the parts the same day and stated they would not return them until Monday. There was no urgency or willingness to accommodate the situation. All communication occurred via text message. When my subsequent text messages went unanswered, I attempted to call the company, only to discover that my number had been blocked. I am extremely disappointed in the handling of this matter. While the company may attempt to dispute or be defensive about this account, I have preserved all communication in writing, as well as video evidence documenting the events described above. I also find it concerning that this company maintains close to five stars on Google while holding a 2.9 rating on Yelp. Additionally, they are not accredited by the Better Business Bureau. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage others to carefully consider their options before hiring this company. In my experience, concerns were met with defensiveness and dismissiveness rather than professionalism or accountability. You can also sense this in other negative reviews. Instead of taking accountability, they become defensive. This company has zero reliability and their operations manager, Barbara, lacks competence. She has zero communication skills and shows traits of narcissistic behavior by trying to gaslight clients into thinking its them causing the conflict rather than taking accountability for their own errors.

They were assigned to service our air conditioner, but the situation was handled very poorly from start to finish. After coming to our home, Rick Bennett diagnosed the issue and stated that parts were needed. We were then left waiting nearly an entire month for those so-called parts, with no real resolution. After all of that waiting, we later had to resort to another HVAC company because they never ordered the parts and told a lie that I canceled the service. The most unacceptable part of the experience was Barbara. We had to escalate the matter through our home warranty company, American Home Shield, because we could not understand why the repair was taking so long. During a call with American Home Shield and Bennett Air, Barbara became extremely unprofessional. She raised her voice, made false statements claiming that I did not want my service repaired, and then told us we could get service elsewhere before hanging up the phone. This was shocking, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable -- especially with the American Home Shield representative also on the line. Based on my experience, Bennett Air was unprofessional, disrespectful, and did not handle our service request appropriately. I would not recommend this company to anyone needing timely, honest, and professional HVAC service. Buyer BEWARE!! I do highly recommend Harbor Air Services (301-770-2768) which came out and properly diagnosed the issue. Harbor Air ordered the correct parts, returned within a few days, installed them, and had our air conditioning working properly within about a week.
