On February 6, my furnace stopped working. I promptly filed a claim and was referred to Bennett Air LLC for service. Despite temperatures dropping to 3 degrees that weekend, no technician was dispatched until February 9. On February 9, a technician evaluated the furnace and diagnosed the issue as a blower motor failure. He removed the blower motor, fan, and housing assembly, stating that they would assemble the new motor with the components at their warehouse and return with the unit ready for installation. However, he was uncertain when the required part would arrive. On February 13, a different technician arrived. Security camera footage shows that he arrived carrying a small sealed box, which appeared to contain only a blower motor -- not the full housing and fan assembly that had been removed from my furnace. After briefly inspecting the unit, he came upstairs and stated, "Sorry, the wrong part was ordered. I'll try to be back later." I suspect that he probably didn't realize that the previous tech took the housing and fan with them during the previous visit. I contacted the office immediately and was informed that they would not be returning that day and instead would come back on Monday afternoon. This situation raised several concerns: 1. How was the incorrect part ordered and not verified prior to arriving at my home? 2. Why was the motor not pre-assembled with the housing and fan as previously stated? 3. Why did the technician arrive without the housing and fan that had been removed from my furnace? When I expressed that I could not wait additional days in freezing temperatures and requested that the issue be corrected as soon as possible, there was no demonstrated urgency to resolve their mistake. As a result, I contacted another HVAC company. The new company asked to FaceTime to view the furnace. They immediately noted that the unit had been left open with exposed electrical wiring and advised that there was no necessity to remove the fan and housing assembly in the first place. They were able to locate a compatible blower motor the same day but advised that they would need the fan and housing components to complete the repair promptly. I contacted Bennett Air LLC requesting the immediate return of the parts taken from my furnace. They declined to return the parts the same day and stated they would not return them until Monday. There was no urgency or willingness to accommodate the situation. All communication occurred via text message. When my subsequent text messages went unanswered, I attempted to call the company, only to discover that my number had been blocked. I am extremely disappointed in the handling of this matter. While the company may attempt to dispute or be defensive about this account, I have preserved all communication in writing, as well as video evidence documenting the events described above. I also find it concerning that this company maintains close to five stars on Google while holding a 2.9 rating on Yelp. Additionally, they are not accredited by the Better Business Bureau. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage others to carefully consider their options before hiring this company. In my experience, concerns were met with defensiveness and dismissiveness rather than professionalism or accountability. You can also sense this in other negative reviews. Instead of taking accountability, they become defensive. This company has zero reliability and their operations manager, Barbara, lacks competence. She has zero communication skills and shows traits of narcissistic behavior by trying to gaslight clients into thinking its them causing the conflict rather than taking accountability for their own errors. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the service experience we had with Bennett Air, located in Waldorf, MD. They were assigned to service our air conditioner, but the situation was handled very poorly from start to finish. After coming to our home, Rick Bennett diagnosed the issue and stated that parts were needed. We were then left waiting nearly an entire month for those so-called parts, with no real resolution. After all of that waiting, we later had to resort to another HVAC company because they never ordered the parts and told a lie that I canceled the service. The most unacceptable part of the experience was Barbara. We had to escalate the matter through our home warranty company, American Home Shield, because we could not understand why the repair was taking so long. During a call with American Home Shield and Bennett Air, Barbara became extremely unprofessional. She raised her voice, made false statements claiming that I did not want my service repaired, and then told us we could get service elsewhere before hanging up the phone. This was shocking, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable -- especially with the American Home Shield representative also on the line. Based on my experience, Bennett Air was unprofessional, disrespectful, and did not handle our service request appropriately. I would not recommend this company to anyone needing timely, honest, and professional HVAC service. Buyer BEWARE!! I do highly recommend Harbor Air Services (301-770-2768) which came out and properly diagnosed the issue. Harbor Air ordered the correct parts, returned within a few days, installed them, and had our air conditioning working properly within about a week. read more

If you value customer service and professionalism, avoid this company. They significantly upcharge customers using American Home Shield, and the out-of-pocket costs end up being almost triple what other HVAC companies charge for similar work. What made the experience even worse was their attitude. Whenever I asked questions about the charges or the work being done, I was told they were "not answering any more questions." I had a frustrating experience with Bennett Air that ultimately ended with the company refusing to complete a repair or provide any further service. I initially paid $225 for a service visit: $150 diagnostic fee and $75 for cleaning the flame sensor, as I was told this was the cause of my furnace issue. However, the furnace stopped working again shortly afterward, indicating the original problem had not been resolved. I asked if the $75 I had already paid could be applied toward the additional repair that was now needed. Instead of addressing that request, I was told they would not "debate the diagnosis" because I am not a technician, and that all charges stood. I chose to move forward with the repair anyway since the furnace still needed to be fixed, but I did note that the tone of the response felt dismissive. After that, the situation escalated quickly -- the company refused to confirm the appointment, refunded my payment, and refused any further service. I understand that companies may stand by their diagnosis and have the right to refuse service. What I found concerning was how a reasonable billing question led to a refusal to schedule the repair and a refusal of all future services. read more

Bennett air conditioning responded to my home due to the heat malfunctioning. This was during the coldest part of January. I expressed my concerns with the pipes freezing and making some arrangements or expediting the work. These concerns fell on deaf ears. I wasn't able to actually talk to anyone, I had to text all of my communications which was very frustrating. I will never deal with this company again. They gave me a 30 day warranty on there work. 39 days later I have to call areal professional in to fix what they refuse to fix. Bennett Air was assigned to me through my home warranty company. The claim was placed on 09 OCT 2021. Bennett Air contacted me on 12 OCT 2021 and offered to send a technician out the same day. I asked if one could be sent the next day and this was not an issue. The Outdoor Unit for my HVAC was not properly functioning over the Holiday weekend. Warm Air was blowing, but the blades were not spinning. The technician that was assigned, quickly diagnosed and corrected the problem. He even helped me locate and change the air filters in my home. He also provided a quote to change the filter on my humidifier that is connected to the HVAC because insurance does not cover it. In my opinion, this organization went above and beyond to deliver amazing service. I will definitely utilize the services provided for the upkeep of my home. I also like how I was updated from the time the technician was headed my way until everything was finished. I think this service was provided by the home warranty company. read more

They sent a tech out here to fix an issue with my air handling unit, and he couldn't fix it, so he changed my thermostat, which I told him, wasn't the problem. It was the wiring every time he's placed the wires together. He pop a fuse, so then he changed my thermostat, saying that was the issue and the heat work for twenty minutes and shut completely off poppin, another fuse. I called him back immediately, and they told me they couldn't get to me for 3 days. Mind you, it's 28° at night. And i'm in the house with my handicap daughter and heaters everywhere. Their dispatch lady said, I didn't say it was an emergency.So they treated it as normal. This is a brand new unit that day installed, and they've been out here 4 times already. My previous hvac unit that I had for over twenty years, never had an issue until it completely stop working. It was so old I had to get a new h. Vac unit, because they no longer made the parts. Then the dispatch lady cancels my request, which was a blessing. Because the new company came out. Wired it correctly, and i've been with heat ever since. People don't know your background. They just assume you don't know what you're talking about. Only reason I didn't fix it myself. Was because it would voided out my warranty. I received your review and score. While you are welcome to send in any critique, let's get your facts straight. First, we are 3rd party contractor, so we work with AHS, not for them. Second, we have VERY strict protocols to follow, and have been long time partners of AHS. Third, YOUR issue of problem resolution is with YOUR home warranty company., not Bennett Air. For further clarification, we share a portal with AHS. Your diagnosis and pictures/attributes are uploaded before the tech has left your property. Anything we submit is through that portal. We do not have access to your policy, nor can we resend information. What YOUR policy does or does not cover is for you to know. AHS does not have it set up that way. However, the information is in your member portal. The only information an HVAC contractor can resend is an upgrade estimate, as that is in a completely different portal shared with AHS upgrade department. If AHS says that we cannot copy/paste a document, then I will not do that. If YOUR home warranty is refusing to give you a breakdown of what is or is not covered, you may want to start there. Our A/C stopped working one evening, so I turned it off since I would be out of town for a few days. When I returned, it started working properly. But, I contacted the owner about it, anyway. She reached out to her home warranty company, who assigned Bennet Air. The technician who came out, Josiah, was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He explained exactly what the problem was and why the system had stopped working and then started working again, and gave recommendations in terms that anyone could understand! Our A/C stopped cooling, so I called our Home Warranty company to put in a claim, they assigned Bennett Air, LLC to diagnose and repair our A/C unit. They sent 2 technicians out to look at it, and discovered the compressor was blown, and they would have to put a claim in to our Warranty company for authorization to repair it. I then received an email from Bennett Air advising me that our Warranty Co. denied the claim because of pictures they took of damage to the coil in the outside unit due to dog urine corroding them, and that we would have to purchase a new unit, and they would sell me one, and finance it. I called our Warranty company back, and requested a second A/C company to come out and look at the unit which they did, and assigned K&J Mechanical HVAC to come out. When they arrived the next day, they also diagnosed the compressor was bad, and they would go back to the shop to get one, upon returning, and installing it, and charging it to 300 lbs. PSI (with no leaks from the coil), they found something else wrong causing the compressor to not cycle, upon doing a complete diagnostic on the system, the technician found a $15.00 fan relay switch was defective, and after replacing it, the system worked fine. I asked them about the corroded coil, he said the coil was fine, but the fins on the bottom were corroded, and he had seen this many times, and was caused by a prior A/C company using coil cleaner, and not rinsing it off completely and wasn't from dog urine. So bottomline, K&J Mechanical saved me Thousands of dollars, by diagnosing the problem, and replcing a $15.00 fan relay. read more

Slow to reply and inefficient. Told my warranty company one thing and me something totally different. They were unwilling to do the work. Wanted to charge for using a crane to hoist up new HVAC onto a third floor apartment balcony. They made up excuses about how it would not fit thru my front door. All to get more money. They lied. The unit was not that big to require such grandeur. My new contractor was able to use a hand truck, with an assistant, and bring it up the short flight of stairs and thru the front door with no problem. read more

Noah came out to fix my air conditioner and he was there for a couple of hours fixing it. It was already 93 degrees that day and I explained I was almost 70 and had asthma very bad and had been using my inhaler every few minutes because of the heat. Instead of having me wait while a new part was ordered he had someone bring him the part and was able to repair it. I was only out of air for a few hours thanks to Noah. My AC went out and I called my warranty company for service. They recommended Bennett Air. They arrived on Tuesday to make the repairs. I was told they need to get a few parts and would be right back to make the repairs. The technician asked where the furnace was located and I showed him the crawl space. I told him the lock wasn't locked, it was just on there unlocked. He said "I don't have to go in there, the AC is working". I had air for one day and it was out again. I called the warranty company and explained that my AC wasn't working and received a follow up appointment with Bennett Air to possibly replace my unit for Monday. I received a text message from Bennett Air Sunday stating they had to cancel my appointment and to contact my warranty company to find another company because they do not go into crawl spaces. This is poor customer service to the fullest extent. The 4th of July weekend was scheduled to be 90-100 degrees. Now I have to wait for another company to get me on their schedule.
