I get that the recent inch of snow messed up a lot of people - icy out there! And I understand that holidays are difficult. However County Waste has not picked up since Christmas week. They've also taken down their social media site and have no update or communication on their website. I've emailed but I don't expect a response. I assume they simply decided - unlike every other trash company used in my neighborhood - to skip the week. Ordinarily they show up - they frequently knock over cans, sometimes full, and never pick them up - the driver cannot leave the cab after all; they once dropped my can into the truck and just left with it; they sometimes claim your automated payment didn't happen when it did; however in the past they've pretty much shown up. New low. Go elsewhere before they buy up everyone and we are left burning trash on our own in a suburban hellscape. read more

Disappointing. They didn't dump my second trash can today, which is allowable for household trash, and they refuse to come back and dump it. I canceled service and they now want to charge me $25 for the second half of the month. I charged them $25 for missing my second can, so we are now even. I had missed my trash pickup day, so I called and they sent a courtesy truck the next day to pick up my trash. When I arrived home I noticed that I was missing a can. County Waste never notified that they had one of my cans. I called and left a message with customer service and they didn't return my call. I called the next day and the person stated that they would deliver my can on Wednesday, the day after Christmas. I waited until almost 5pm and called to check on the delivery of my can. I was told that they were busy and they will expedite and deliver on Thursday. I came home at 4:30 and no can! Once again, I called and was told once again that the delivery would be expedited and I would receive it Friday afternoon. I just arrived home at 4:30 to no can! I called once again only to be told that they will expedite and deliver tomorrow. This customer service is unacceptable! Now I've asked to speak to a manager and low and behold, there isn't one available, one has to call me back. It's been 7 days calling to get my trashcan back, how long will it take for a manager to call to address the situation? I definitely understand why people are switching Choice. read more

Called to start service, never received cans for 3 weeks. Continued to call asking for cans. Finally got fed up and canceled my service due to the lack of communication and ability to care about the customer or get anything done. While waiting for my other cans from another provider, my neighbor let me use her County waste can in the interum. Was outside today when the pick up boy took that trashcan as well. I explained to him that it wasn't mine and he took it away, telling me I was shit out of luck because it was on my property. -super professional- I gave him a few choice words as he was driving away. I will never be using this service again and I will be continuing to persuade everyone I know into canceling this service. Do NOT give County Waste your financial info. TWICE they messed up my account and took too much out. They did not follow my monthly plan. When I called to rectify this, they said it would take 2 weeks to credit me! Pick up is inconsistent. We often get no pick up and no phone call to let us know trash won't be collected. The business model these folks implemented is pretty ingenious, yet super simple: Employ a bunch of young people to canvass a particular area quoting super low prices. Price the competition out of the market and then buy those competitors at a fraction of their original worth because they have less subscribers due to the fact that so many have signed over to your company because of the promised lower rate. Establish a monopoly in that particular market and begin rate increases. I wish people would understand (myself included) that at the end of the day, price should not be the sole reason one should pick a particular product or service. read more

I have had multiple Trash Services over the years. This company has always been on time and when i have had bigger items they have not hesitated to get out the truck and take it for me. They value customer service and that is hard to come by. I only wish they had recycling in my area. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! Called 3 times today because they did not pick up my recycling. Picked up the entire neighborhood but forgot our street. Girl I spoke to at 3PM said they were still out servicing the neighborhood - absolute LIE - since the rest of the neighborhood was picked up at 6AM. Told me to call back at 5PM - very convenient since they close at 5PM and now I get to look at an overflowing recycling bin the entire weekend. Don't waste your time with this company! I use this company because there are not too many other options around in Williamsburg, VA. Absolute nightmare to deal with ! They have, at least 3 times this year, failed to pick up my garbage due to their own oversight. They argue with me about what time I placed the bin at the curb... When they promise to send somebody out to correct the mistake, it does not happen for days. Drivers mark the request as "completed" when it is not. The main call number will pick up after at least 20 minutes of waiting and immediately transfer to you to "dispatch" who keep repeating the same as a robot. Just got off the phone with County Waste AGAIN. They were taking my trash can every other week starting on May 25th. I called and they couldn't figure out why my trash can was picked up. The first time I could understand an accident. They brought me another can on Saturday. Two weeks later same thing. Again they were supposed to bring me a can Saturday but didn't bring it until late Monday. We couldn't just let our trash build up inside or put it outside without a can so we bough a 32 gal can from Lowe's. Starting to get really mad. Last Friday was the most recent. Called again {3rd time} and they brought another new can on late Saturday. Decided maybe I should go up the ladder and talk to a supervisor. Talked to Sarah and let her know what was going on. She told me that she found it highly unlikely that the drivers were taking my trash can. In other words I was lying for whatever reason. I don't know what she thought I was doing with the cans. Bill was nice enough to call later and let us know that they drivers had been picking up the cans by accident and apologized. Called Wednesday and asked for a supervisor above Sarah. They kept trying to send me to her. Waited all day Wednesday for a call back from a supervisor. Nothing. Called back this morning and they still tried sending me to Sarah. I told them I did not want to talk to her she was my problem and I wanted someone above her. Finally talked to a person above her and all he kept saying was that we received another trash can and couldn't see a problem with her. They never offered to take anything off my bill or reimburse me for the can I had to buy. Obviously they don't need my business. read more

County Waste is EXCELLENT in their service and dependability but to go from $13.50 to $21.00 in 12 months is inexcusable! They go up $2-3 each and every 6 months like clockwork. I understand that they have expenses but so do the people they are serving. Right now the only thing I have them pick up is 2-3 bags each week or about $3-3.50 a bag. Chesterfield County gov. only charges $7 a week to pick up whatever you want and their recycling is free so I will be switching IF the prices go up ONE more time. This company is the worst!! They have randomly missed trash pick up at my home at least 7 times this year. I have to call and alert them, usually after waiting on hold for twenty minutes. It is a total guessing game if they will show up at all after a holiday or snow storm. The last time I received a pick up was the Thursday after Christmas. It is now Jan. 10th! I called three times to find out what was up. Via a recording or live person, was told to expect a pick up on the 6th (nope), then the 10th (nope, no pick up). Got hung up on when I called today and had the nerve to ask for a weeks credit. Was even told they may not even take all the trash at my curb when they do come, since there was more than the normal amount (Yeah, because THEY didn't come for two weeks). Same thing happened after the fourth of July. I had a horrible smelling pile sitting there for two weeks. Would just get a busy signal (or my call would just get dropped as I sat on hold for 30 minutes). I would have taken trash to the dump myself way sooner had I known they were just not going to show up! Unfortunately, they are the only option for trash pick up in my area so I am stuck...... read more

Our trash contract was just bought out by this company and I have never been so irritated by trash collectors in my life! For over a month these guys pull up at 6:00 on the dot on Monday morning, scream at each other across yards all the while with a ridiculously loud truck running and flashing strobe lights... great start to the work week. Another neighbor told me she went to look out of her curtains because she thought an emergency vehicle was parked outside (for 10 minutes). I notified the company and have yet to receive a response. If this doesn't change I will be moving my service and suggesting to others in the neighborhood that they do the same. read more

Do Yourself a big favor and find another trash disposal company. County Waste came to Richmond, Bought out every smaller trash removal firm and has become the monopoly of trash services. Their motto: "Service is our Commitment" is the biggest farce I have ever heard. I'm unable to move the large trash can they now provide due to an injury and they all of a sudden stopped side/back yard service. Not only have they failed to provide me a service which I paid for through the end of the year, their billing, which has been paid, for the next 6 months, as their invoice stated for Backyard service. I was promised by Leigh Randolph yesterday on the phone to have my trash collected since it was missed last week and was also promised due to my injury that they would provide side yard service. Yet another lie in the long list of them from County Waste. Trying to get a Manager to return a call/email is impossible. Nobody at this company cares one bit about the customer. I've been told that the backyard service is available in certain areas, but they will not tell me those areas, I've then been told (all of this after I was initially told it was discontinued all together) that if I was disabled, then I cold continue the service, but the service fee increases to $30 a month! It was clearly stated to me that the increase in our service and decrease in service actually being provided started the day they took over the new companies. I inquired as to why I was never notified (much like the change in service for the Holiday) and was told they did not have to notify me of a rate change, but made it clear they did send a letter about the service decrease. I asked what about the customers that did not have back/side yard service, did their service fees increase to the current $21.50 those of us who do are paying? They never would give an answer, so I believe I would be correct in assuming County Waste LLC has a plethora of different rates they charge whenever they feel like it. I've asked numerous times to have a manager call me, but, now 3 weeks into this fiasco with this poorly ran company I still as of yet to hear from one. I've gone as far as emailing and snail mail, still no reply. County Waste LLC has even appeared on TV 12 On Your Side for failing to provide services to a Disabled Vietnam Veteran! They bought out VWS, I was paying $10 a month and County waste said they would honor it if I could prove it. I proved it and have a copy where VWS sent my statement to them and cc'd me. They then backtracked and wouldn't live up to their word. I have no use for this company. read more

Previous disgruntled reviews definitely aren't from customers receiving their service in a location where the cost is bundled with HOA dues. I must admit that, when the HOA in our neighborhood announced they were contracting with County Waste, and I would be required to cancel service with Duck's Disposal, I was very upset, for several reasons, but mainly because I don't believe monopolies are ever in the best interest of the end-user, as competition sparks innovation and enhanced customer satisfaction. Having no choice in the matter, I cancelled with Duck's. The first thing I noticed was how much cheaper my service would be with County Waste; we were paying ~ $17/mo with Duck's, and we dropped to under $10/mo with CW. I just knew the customer service would drastically decline! Well, I'm happy to say that it's been a few years, and I'm still waiting for poor service. It's been quite the opposite; they're always on time, very efficient and polite if I see them, and especially if I have a large amount that won't fit in the can. In addition, several months ago, they added a recycling can, and added a pick-up day for that. Now, we get trash pick-up on Monday and recycling on Tuesday. To my knowledge, there's no additional cost incurred. Again, I can't praise Country Waste enough but, if the bottom ever falls out, and my initial fears are realized, I'll be sure to update my review. read more

Very poor service all-around. I really wish Duck's hadn't sold out, they were awesome. Kristen with the company is inconsiderate and rude. We called because our trash has not been picked up. We're told there's nothing they can do and that they will inform the driver that the next pick-up will be larger than normal. I have never had a worse customer service experience in my life than the one I have had recently with County Waste. I had 3 metal folding chairs that were left folded up in the yard nowhere close to our County Waste trash cans. Without warning the chairs were either thrown away or stolen by the County Waste drivers. It is clearly stated in their policy that trash men do not come onto people's property anymore, well they clearly did this time. Naturally I called County Waste to resolve the issue thinking it would be a quick and smooth fix, it was not. After the initial phone call, I was told a supervisor would look into the matter and call me back. This never happened. I had to continually call County Waste to find out what was going on, only to have my story continually questioned as to whether it was true or not. Of course it was true, why else would I be calling? After 2 weeks of getting the run around I was informed that our claim was denied, because the pick up men claimed that the chairs were leaning up against the trash cans. UNBELIEVABLE! So with no warning and no say in the matter I am out 3 chairs worth almost 200 dollars, with no way to replace them. Meanwhile County Waste calls me a liar and refuses to do anything about the situation. Needless to say we have cancelled our service after this appalling incident, and I urge anyone using their service to get out while you can. read more

All of our neighbors were dealing with this company so we figured we would give them a try and switched our service. MISTAKE! First of all why don't they offer quarterly billing? Paying $15 a month is a such a nuisance, even the water bill comes bi-monthly. My can was rarely ever in the spot I left it. More than once I had to retrieve it from my neighbors' yard. The "customer service" is just awful and when the prices went up we weren't notified. Like others have said, they bought out all the other smaller trash companies like Ducks Disposal who were excellent! They don't want to pick up anything that wont fit into the can and want to charge $25.00 to pick up extra. Ducks Disposal never did that. Very poor customer service. read more

Do not do business with this company. Their pricing practices should be looked into by the Attorney Generals office as being discriminatory if not downright illegal. County Waste came into my neighborhood, undercut Ducks and took away all their business, thus forcing Ducks out of business. Now they are raising their price due to the increased costs of doing business but they are not spreading that cost to all their customers. My rate increased but several of my neighbors did not. How is that not discriminatory pricing? Needless to say, I have canceled my service and will be going with a smaller, more customer oriented company. read more

This company should be reviewed by the BBB. In reviewing my bill last month I realized the price was $2.40 more than my usual amount. I paid it thinking possibly I had an extra bag of trash or my can was too full. Well this month it was again $2.40 more than my usual amount, so I called the company (804-843-9288) and spoke with "Rose." I advised her of the issue and she said it was "likely" a price increase. I questioned why I didn't get a notice first and foremost and she said, "Well if you didn't I apologize, but it was a price increase." I requested to know why there was a price increase especially when I just had a price increase in March of 2014. She said there was no other price increase in the last year and didn't appreciate me calling her a liar. I advised her I was looking at my online statements...I went from $13.00 to $15.50 to $18 in the span of 1.5 years! Needless to say I gave my 30 day disconnect notice and will be finding another way to dispose of trash. This company is outrageous...and NOT in a good way! ***UPDATE*** I just spoke with my friends who literally live down the street and they pay $17.50 FOR 2 CANS!!! I ONLY HAVE 1!! Just like everyone else my experience was not good. They bought out the competition (Ducks) increased rates unless you had a copy of your contract bc they did not have copies. Terrible! Took over Ducks Disposal and they ruined it! Bookkeeping is a joke- they came and took my trash can (full of trash) into a "can pickup vehicle" over a billing mistake- we had not missed any payment since they took over! Keep in mind that means some guy in a van grabs your trash instead of the automated truck- I was appauled! Why would they even pick up the can full like that, why not wait until after the truck came by? When I called (after 35 minutes waiting on hold) they just said "thats what we do". Not even an apology- They offered me a $5.00 credit. INSULTING! My advice: If you choose these guys, buy a good shredder. Or better yet, keep looking. read more

I had Ducks Disposal and was very satisfied, then county waste bought them and not satisfied since. A new company became available that was half the price I was paying so I called to cancel and they matched the price BUT.....Recently it became really bad service. In December they didn't pick up my trash for two weeks which included my trash from Christmas so there was more than usual. I called and was assured they would be out next day. I saw the truck on my road and damn if they didn't leave trash again. I was told to go out and stick my hand in the can and make sure nothing was making the trash stay stuck inside the can and I refused. I cancelled my service and was told they would pick up can the next day. They finally picked up the trash but I still have the can a month later. It literally has sat in front of my house a month. Every week I call to see why its not picked up and told they have a lot of cans they pick up....probably no room in truck each time.... so will be another week, this is the 3rd time Ive heard this.....They don't seem to care about customer service at all. In addition they are still billing me after I confirmed acct was paid in full a few weeks ago. I get another partial bill today. I called and they said they would clear it and I don't owe but I wouldn't recommend them at all at this point. read more

I'm not sure where they find these customer service agents from, but they are rude and lack good customer service skills! First of all, Virginia Waste Services sold the residential trash pickup to County Waste Services, but no one ever informed us of that. We received an invoice in the mail from County Waste and I was like...who the heck is County Waste and why do we owe them money? When I called the office they informed me of the change in companies, etc. I specifically asked the representative why they never sent a letter informing us of the change in companies PRIOR to them sending us an invoice? In a very unconcerned/indifferent type of tone, she was like, "You should've received a letter from Virginia Waste Services telling you that. Is there anything else I can help you with? Needless to say, I was done with them! I immediately knew that they didn't have good business skills and that I wouldn't be dealing with them for long.
