Terrible company. Period. We signed up for service, recieved the two bins for collecting trash and recycling. Had the service 1.5 months (5-6 weeks). Of that time (weekly trash service) County Waste collected the trash three times and NEVER collected the recycling. We called every week to state the obvious. The female employee explained, "...perhaps issues finding the residence..."; nah, they sure found the place to deliver the bins. We cancelled after one more week when they FAILED to pick up the recycling - again. Took County Waste three weeks to retrieve their bins. After much frustration, we called and explained we will be charging storage fees. They picked the bins up the following day. We did pay for the service. Now, we get a bill in the mail exaplaining we now owe 150 dollars for defaulting in making payments! Really, County Waste? You can go kick rocks I say. I finally cancelled service with this business after I have had to make several complaints. For whatever reason the driver continues to empty my container and then places it on the road, in the path of on coming vehicles. He gets my container from against the curb yet he can't seem to put it back. It's really annoying because I am disabled and I have to try to be quick about getting the container out of the road way. I have called and complained a few times and there seems to be nothing that they can do other than offer a lower price on my bill. I want better service so I actually turned down the lower cost. read more

Lazy drivers! On more than one occasion the truck driver responsible for collecting my garbage has failed to pick up the yard trash and trimmings that I pay them to pick up. The customer service has little to no regard for paying customers. If you can find a better service to collect your weekly trash I suggest you avoid County Waste. read more

County Waste has been prompt, drivers are courteous. They offer weekly recycling, which in our house is very good compared to others who offer no, or bi-weekly recycling pick up. Highly recommend. read more

Absolutely awful company! Several times they have not picked up our trash. We always roll it up the night before as we live on a main busy road. How they miss I'm us baffles me. This is the last time I will be looking for a new company. I already pay more with dump rums I'm making in between them missing us. They delivered my new trashcan to the wrong address, and refused to pick up my trash although I was paying for their service. It is my first month with their service and it has been quite terrible. Also, the wait time for customer service is over an hour if you want to call them. read more

Worse company you could possibly even consider. Drivers are LAZY I live in a cul-de-sac and for over two years we paid our garbage bill on time and over that time we had to call over 20 times because we watched the driver come racing up the street and then not come into cul-de-sac. Every time we called they said oh the truck was full they have to come back. Maybe one or two of those times did they actually come back that day or that week period. But the minute you didn't pay your bill they stopped coming immediately.. My wife got sick last year and went into surgery and ended up losing her life after being in the icu for 4 months and we had been a month behind which they stopped coming, we had to call and ask for a payment plan... Then since the whole covid 19 thing happened I ended up two months behind and they refused to take the garbage. So in my opinion if you want to have a company that only shows up when its convenient for them and a company that refuses to help there customers when in life crisis then county waste is who you want to go with.... I have used County Waste for several years now. I have had several issues in that time which were resolved to my satisfaction. Now I am seriously considering leaving. I purchased my own private bin to place my yard clippings in. I did this for the convenience of the driver not leaving the truck and the bag sitting out in the rain getting wet and heavy. They only emptied the CW bin and not mine with the 1 yard waste bag in it. They allow me 2 bags of clippings when I signed up.Called and a not pleasant Rep tells me I need to call them before pickup. Since when? I don't plan to cut my grass around their schedule when I come home from work evening before my pickup and they need to know. How about I just put it on the ground and the driver can get out in the future? I have done this for years with nearly any problem. read more

After 6 years the service falls short consistently, dispatch is worse than the DMV (Angela) in fixing the issues. Management needs to rethink what they are doing here. County Waste purchased our previous waste management company Ducks Disposal. We were warned that our service would go down the toilet, but we didn't listen. These guys have missed pickups with us, and "do not issue refunds" (their words not mine). They have a rating of F on the BBB. We were warned about their service by several of our friends, we didn't listen, and had to learn the hard way. When I complained and asked for a missed pickup credit, or I'd have to cancel my account, they were more than happy let me cancel my account, almost cheerfully (despite being a customer for a long time, and never missing a bill payment and only contacting them when they screw up) they appear to have no interest in account/customer retention from their residential operation. I personally would not be able to recommend this customer to anyone, ever. read more

Duck disposal was bought out by these guys. I seem to be paying the same price, but with poor service. I'm told to put my can on the curb or they won't pick it up...Not near the curb but on it. They leave my can in the road. Today the driver fets out of his truck...walks out onto my newely seeded lawn! to tell me my car is too close to the can...it would have been easier for him to move the can then ruin my grass and tell me what to do. They seem to be great at telling me what I need to do. One more incedent and I'll pay more for better service elsewhere. read more

Do not use them. I know many others in the Salisbury area who are looking to leave as well. They are lazy and often will not pick up what you leave out. We started out paying extra for them to retrieve the cans from the side of our house and return them, only to find out that they didn't most of the time. This place bought out all the small companies in the area with promises of low rates. I also (like some reviews on here) refused to switch to them when they had people going around passing out flyers trying to get you to sign up. They eventually had enough to take the area over though. They get you to sign up until they monopolize the area then jack the price up. Also they come too early (6-6:30 am) beating around trash cans. Might not bother some but I have a baby and when you have to get up with a baby an hour early on a work day your pretty upset. read more

Good value. They come every week on time and as scheduled. The only complaint I have is the service department. They could use a lesson in positive customer service. I recently got married and changed my name so my bank issued me a new credit card and I forgot that county waste was on auto bill using this card. After one missed payment (a whopping 12.00) they started calling me several times a day even during my work hours. Finally one left a voicemail message identifying the company and their needs. I tried calling them promptly and the phone number left on my voicemail by their own employee, 804-843-9288 has been disconnected. I spent some time on the internet looking for the updated number an when I called I politely let the assistant know that the voicemail I received had an old number. She treated me like a deadbeat who doesn't pay their bills. I explained my situation and she didn't change her stance. Overall, for the money they are the best in short pump, but be prepared if you have to call them. It is NOT a fun experience. read more

I wish there was a zero stars option. Signed up for Yelp specifically to try and make sure that others avoid this business. Like others, our previous provider was bought out by County Waste (after months of them ignoring the 'No Solicitation' signs on my front door), with promises that neither our rates nor our service would change. They have not kept these promises. Our bill was $10/month, and early this year we were told it would go up to $17/month in March. Well, they started billing the new rate in February, and are no longer including the $1/month charge for the second can as part of the monthly rate (which they didn't notify us would happen). So, in the six months we have used them, they have increased our rate by 80%. Service has deteriorated as well. We also suffer from 6:30 pickups, have missed pickups due to weather (and not offered prorated refunds saying they don't refund for issues beyond their control), and they (and/or their machinery) seem serially unable to fully empty the trash cans. I'll be switching providers, even if it means paying more. I'm not interested in giving my money to a company that does business this way. read more

Overpriced for backyard pickup, drivers are not courteous at all, never fully emptied the garbage can, leaving anywhere from a few pieces of trash (which I accepted) to full garbage bags in the can after dumping. 1 star is way too much for them. Horrible business practices.......they muscle out longstanding family-run businesses and then raise prices......in my neighborhood they sent solicitors to every door offering 12 months service for the price of only 3 months and threw in an extra trash can free of charge. I refused the offer and the person got rude with me. Less than 3 months later the local family-run business that had been dominant in this area for 30+ yrs ending up having to sell their business to CW because they had lost so much of their business. Now less than 6 months after being with CW, they send out a letter stating that due to fuel/repair costs our monthly rates are going up. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. At first I thought they were great however their snotty representatives and abysmal customer service has revealed itself. They do not have a system where they send a notice or you hit a certain amount before they remove your can if you miss a couple payments. They apparently give "four courtesy calls" during hours that people are at work and don't tell you via the voicemail that you are on the verge of having your can removed. I called and wanted to speak to a manager just to complain that they need a better system and should send a paper or email notice rather than vague voice mails. The girl literally refused to put me on hold for a manager and I asked to leave my name and number, she claimed she would but hung up on me before ever taking down my number! Seriously the worst customer service ever and now I have to pay $19 in fees to get my trash can back because they decided to come take it on a Thursday... Hello! Most people are paid on Fridays! Abysmal! I used Duck's until County Waste "consolidated" businesses in Chesterfield County. Now that they have eliminated the competition, the prices have been raised. I wouldn't have a problem with that, but they are totally inconsistent. Came by late one night and as I stood there waiting to get out of my driveway, they ripped the top off an extra garbage bin I owned, threw it in the road, and ran over it with the truck. It wasn't a cheap can! They say they will pick up the large can and up to 3 bags of yard waste. Maybe. Maybe not. I left for a trip, put out my garbage (about 1/4 full) and three light bags of yard waste. After a week, when I returned the bags were still sitting at the curb and my neighbor had pushed their can back to its place. They are difficult to contact, totally inconsistent, and don't respect the property of others. I have emailed and asked what I need to do differently. They have not responded after a month. They don't offer recycling in my neighborhood. There are very few people for garbage pickup now, and they are significantly more expensive. I'd like someone to post a good review for another company that could be used. read more

I really can not stand this company, like many they came thru the neighborhood begging us to switch with crazy promo rates. We refused, we liked our small company and their wonderful service. Few months later the company of our choosing got bought out. It appears between 6 of my neighbors we all pay different prices. Some of us were able to get two cans others not. Calling and asking a question or trying to get something corrected is a joke (Midlothian number). We are not getting bills from them, I have been told multiple times that my automatic payment was set up and never has it drafted. I have had my trash with this company for over six years straight . this past Friday they did not show up. They did not give any notice that they were not going to be showing up. On Monday they did not show up. I called them and they placed man hold for 10 minutes to come back and say yes our driver never stopped at our entire street. He said to keep piling my trash bags in the street and then they will pick them up on this coming Friday. I asked for a manager to call me back, and he said it won't matter they will tell me the same thing. I said I should receive a credit back for not receiving the service I paid for he said if we give you a credit we will not take your extra trash. My advice is that if you cannot do the job you're obligated and committed to doing you should go above and beyond to make it right. They should have picked my trash up today when I called them to tell them about the problem. read more

County Waste raises monthly rates willy-nilly without notice. In the past 2 years they have raised my monthly prices by a whopping 12%. They've jacked up prices twice in the last 5 months alone.This is way, way higher than inflation and there's no explanation for this, other than gouging unsuspecting consumers. The service is spotty at best. They pick up at different times on different weeks, and holiday schedules are confusing and all over the map. They pass my house twice, as it is on the way to their dumpster/station. I've seen them pick up in the late afternoon, yet, if the trash bins are not out by 8 in the morning they don't bother to pick up at all. read more

County Waste "service " is inconsistent. Their customer service is non existent and pathetic. I've been old hold for 40 minutes and they say it's slow because of COVID but I've had these long waits before COVID. The "chat feature" they have on their Wes site is not really a chat as all they do is take your question and create a ticket. All I wanted to know was if they were going to pick up today because of the snowstorm we had yesterday. The message about delays on their website is out of date. They frequently miss pick ups but continue to charge. They occasionally have issued a credit but most of the time they refuse so we're paying for four weeks pick up but only getting picked up twice. Sometimes they tell us they'll it's okay to put out more than the one can and they'll take it. But, then they don't come the next week. We're currently holding three weeks of garbage and recycling. Apparently, It doesn't matter what season it is as they don't show up in Winter, Summer, Fall and Spring. read more

I have contacted county waste every single month and they reassure me that they do not have the other address on my account. I don't have this service but the person who lived here before me did. We decided to switch waste companies because I've called them three times to pick up their trash cans and they still haven't. Each time they promise they will but don't. All of the employees say the cans will be picked up tomorrow, and Sarah, a manager, would not take my call nor return it at a better time. These jokers bought out Ducks Disposal a few years back and did not notify anyone in my neighborhood of their ridiculous rate increases. Not only am I being charged $11 more per month (Ducks had a rate agreement with the HOA), but my garbage MIGHT get picked up twice a month. And on the rare occasion that it is picked up, it's usually at 6am even after several complaints of the noise so early in the morning. Go with Choice Waste as they are reasonably priced and respectful of the residential areas they service. read more

This company has gone down hill drastically. As I write this review my trash has not been collected in 3 weeks. I have tried calling, sitting on the phone over 2 hours. I have screenshots of my calls. 1 hour 45 minutes on the phone. Their voicemail has been full since at least 08/11 when I first started calling. I have tried email. I finally went in person yesterday (08/24/21) to cancel. It was a 35 minute trip one way. They had 8 people in a call center that was visible from the window. No one seemed to be taking calls. When I told the lady why I was cancelling she made excuses that they were taking calls for PA and NY as well and their call times were "a little long". I showed the the screenshots. That wasn't long it was unacceptable. My can has been outside my house for the month. Last week the other side of the street was picked up but not mine. The week before no was as collected. Today, no one has been collected on my street but the next street over was collected. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

PITIFUL SERVICE. This company fails to pick up trash 20-30% of the time. My regular trash schedule is Friday, so I typically place the container roadside Thursday night. Recently, the schedule was delayed by one day due to weather conditions. Not a problem, at least not until Monday when my container was still full. An email to the company to request it be emptied was to no avail. The audacious response was that the driver logged my container as not present at 12:48pm on Saturday, and County Waste claimed the driver was tracked to the end of my dead end street, except they referenced Seneca Drive. I live on Seneca Lane. If he did actually drive to the end of Seneca Lane, he drove past my container twice without collecting its contents. I called nonsense on the response, and indicated that I expected a billing adjustment. The container remained roadside until it was emptied the following Friday. Then, my next bill was the usual full monthly charge. Apparently, this company has demonstrated its ability to lie, and to submit fraudulent billing. read more
