We have eaten at the Courthouse Bar and Grille a couple of times. It is average food for a fair price. Drinks are good. We will return.

My husband and I have gone numerous times and never an issue, always good BUT today wasn't one of those days. I ordered the filet mignon, 10 oz. I was starving and couldn't wait. Food arrived and LOOKED good as it should. I cut into it and cooked medium as requested. So far so good. Took my first bite and...... tasteless. Ate more expecting that full flavor to come about, but nothing. I was extremely disappointed. I ate it because I paid for it but I've had better steaks from Walmart. I left full but such a terrible steak. I will never get that again from them. I'll stick to the less expensive easier meals they can cook. Service was good, no issues there. Came here with my wife on a busy night. Service was nice but not amazing. Plenty of staff moving around so could have just been a lot of customers to handle. I ordered blackened Cajun chicken with mashed potato's and the vegetable was snap peas. Decent flavor... it was enjoyable for sure but didn't break any records. Wife ordered Chicken A La Vodka and thought it was a delicious pasta dish. Nice place overall, I will probably go again some day. Saturday night at 8:15, and decided to have dinner. We have been here numerous time, and were satisfied. So we walk in, and waited to be seated. So after a minute we were seated and given menus, and not asked if we wanted anything to drink. They restaurant was 40% filled, and the bar was the same, so it wasn't a hectic night. I went to the men's room, and told my wife to order a drink for me. So I returned five minutes later, and she said that this is ridiculous to wait this long and not asked for a drink or if were ready to place our orders so walked out. Yes, this is understandable when the place is filled and people are waiting to be seated, but not when it's less than half filled and some of the waitresses are hanging around. read more

I love the food here. The chicken fingers are amazing, but what makes them even more delicious is their house made honey mustard sauce. Once you try it, you will be hooked. Went in on a Saturday afternoon with a group of 6 sat outside across the street outside. Service was excellent and the food was very good. Actually better then I was expecting. I had the French onion soup. Smaller but good. Then had the French onion dip. It was very good. A couple IPA's and the whole experience was very good. Nice place to go. read more

Foods, very good but the price is a little high for me but my wife loves it there. They have a full bar so you can always have a drink along with your meal, and the portions are quite large. We almost always have a doggy bag hanging out the door with us. read more

Sitting here now, obviously with enough time to write a review because no one has come to check on us. Ordered the Marsala. Good flavor but chicken had alot of grisle which is gross. Zucchini could have been good if they'd have thought to bring salt, pepper and butter. I will have to take it home to eat it. Oh and did I mention the zucchini was cold? Food is pretty good. I like the broiled scallops a lot. The chili and french onion soups are second to none. They've really got something here with a lot of these recipes. The service is typically poor to fair at best. There is no hostess stand, and we've stood in the doorway waiting for a hostess to seat us for up to 10 minutes before. I wouldn't mind waiting 30 minutes if someone would acknowledge you and let you know there is a wait. The worst part is, some times you'll see the hostess sitting there talking with other waitresses while you wait at the door. In one particular instance, the bartender saw us, and did nothing to alert the hostess that we were just standing there. There also happened to be open tables at this time. This is one of the 3 or 4 times we just decided to walk out and eat at someplace special across the street. It's a crap shoot whether or not you get a grumpy waitress or not. They used to refuse to split the bills (I don't know if they've changed that policy yet) but I've gone here for big birthday parties a few times and been informed after we say down - "we don't split tabs". Fine, but it's 2012....people carry credit and debit cards....people like to split the bills. Courthouse needs to get with the times in that regard. You just get the general feeling more often than not that you are really wasting the wait staff's time and being a big nuisance to them. Would be a 4 star rating if they actually tried to improve their service. I've complained to the owner's via email numerous times to no avail. Nothing ever changes. Would be nice if the owner was in the front of the house during busier times and cracking the whip. read more

Wow....great time, great food and great service by Courtney. The only thing I didn't like is the room itself. Wife and I went for drinks and appetizer. Hoping to sit at the bar but it was packed so they sat us in the front room on the other side of bar. Room was to bright and the room felt more like a breakfast place then a pub. That's my only complaint because service by Courtney was outstanding. I don't think I ever saw her stop running. Started off with Onion Strings which were very tasty & Buffalo Chicken tenders which also were very good. Getting those again. I then ordered the the clam strip appetizer as my meal which was a mistake after also eating the fried onion strings. The clam strips were good but could only eat a quarter of them because it was more fried food. I'd order them again but with no other fried food. My wife ordered one of the best things I've ever tasted. Butternut squash Ravioli. Topped with a garlic cream sauce. Absolutely delicious!!!! Bill for 2 beers & 2 wines and the food was $60. I was happy and I'll be back. Only wish Courtney was a bartender. read more

Haven't been here in almost a year,decided to try it because of the Fire and Ice Festival. We were pleasantly surprised. The past few times were disappointment causing us to take a yr off from eating here. The buffalo chicken tenders were tender and well seasoned. I want to make everyone aware with the changes from covid. The team here can not manage the responsibility of guest reservations. 1.Week or so ago when I made a reservations, when we arrived the team was rude. We waited for 30-45mins for reservations that we already had. No apologizes were said or even implied. The environment was more of the allure that I was lucky I would even get to sit with them. 2. Yesterday June 16th, the wife and I had no kids by chance. Knowing the difficulty to be seated in Putnam she called. The person on the phone said they are not taking reservations they are not needed, walk-up or drive up only. She then asked if a wait was on-going or not? Her response was that she was inside and had no idea, just come down. I rushed to get ready to get ready and within 30mins we were asking to be seated. The hostess and the other waitresses were more concerned about personal social discussions then seating us. Then the rude hostess asked if we had reservations, we said no and before the word No was finished she began to tell us in a rude and condescending response, not a chance that we would be seated. We have reservations booked until 8 pm sorry and walked away. We tried to explain that we called and she disregarded the conversation and continued to talk about her personal BS with the waitresses. I want to add that I never had given bad reviews to anything before. I am sympathetic to the COVID stress of everything right now and that's why after waiting for 45mins on a reservation the first time we went back. WIth having 2 kids and maybe 10hrs to ourselves each month our free time is very valuable. So until restaurants somewhat return to normal don't waste your time with this place, they don't respect the public's time by any means. read more

The forgotten orders, the ignorant comments from the waited, and just all in all disrespectful service. It's unreal how a waitress is hired and never reviews the menu or checks on their table to see if everyone got their order. We will never be going here again. This is the place where we always seem to meet up with my wife's Quiet Corner family when we're heading to a theatrical performance at either The Bradley or the Complex. Our party of 8 got there right when it opened on a Sunday (noon) and they were already filling up fast. The vibe is cool being that it's an old courthouse...check out the front door, it's really neat. The menu is standard pub fare with a really decent tap list (including 25 oz beers and let me tell you, a 25 oz beer may be just what you need before hunkering down for a modern dance show in town). I've had the buffalo tenders twice and the first time I became a fire breathing dragon but if you ask for "mild" they're fantastic. I don't recall seeing "mild" as an offering but one of my dining companions used to work at the Courthouse and assured me it was there. I had a simple yet delicious tuna melt on marble rye. The rest of the family all had other sandwiches or burgers and everyone really enjoyed their food. I know I'll be back the next time I'm up in the QC. read more

Really enjoy this Resturant. They have always been good with customer service. The servings are way too big but the food keeps well and offers another meal at home. I usually get The Executioner. (Maybe that's why the servings are huge!! Lol). Burgers are very good and not dry. I've had my glassware be "dirty" ... meaning there has been stuck on particles on my coffee mug and water glass. Once my fork had particles on it. (Loss of 1 star). They were clean from the dishwasher but not fully rinsed or something. Not a hair or lipstick which would have been disgusting. I've sat at the bar and tables and the service is the same. The room next to the main room can get cold in the summer with the a/c running. read more

Went for dinner. Salad was full of brown pieces. but blue cheese dressing was awesome. Ordered chicken Marsala, chicken wasn't thin but was 3" long chunks. Marsala sauce was brown gravy. Fresh vegetables looked nice but were lukewarm. Asked waitress if coffee was fresh, she looked at me weird and said yes. I asked again if it was truly a fresh pot and she said 'I just told you it was'. No need to return. Don't think my dinner partners will either. read more

I have been frequenting this establishment to eat, drink, and watch such events as Red Soxs games and this past week the Olympics. On Tuesday night, the bartender threw out 6 of us (3 seperate groups)because he wanted to close and leave. I jokingly said while drinking my wine to the bartender, 'Let us know when you need to close" he replied "get your coat on now". That was at 10:00PM. What a jerk. I am tired of the rudeness of this place. If you are a bar, you are a bar. If you want to close early then work at a breakfast restaurant. I now am going to the 99restaurant in Dayville to eat, drink and watch the Olympics. I will never go to the Courthouse again. read more

The Courthouse is a good place for families and meeting up with old friends. I am a courthouse regular. Positives: Good food,good drinks,the waitstaff is usually great,good for take out or eat in,the buffalo chicken wrap is good...the best buffalo chicken outside of Buffalo ,NY. It's so good to be home and to get to visit some old haunts! I adore this little gem of Putnam. It's super casual so don't go expecting the savoir-faire of a white linen establishment, but you will still have a high quality experience. The food is fantastic and the menu is delightful (they call the desserts the "closing arguments"). The service is very friendly and the ambiance is unassuming, everyone is welcome here! If local wines are your niche than you will love that 'Ballet of Angels' is on the wine list. We have been coming here periodically for the last two years. Used to be a gem. Today we were led into the back room which was absolutely filthy. I had to ask a passerby if we had a waitress as were were never greeted. Someone took our order. Another delivered and the waitress for this room is no where to be found. Food is still not out after 30 minutes. Very disappointed. Not sure if we will be coming back here any time soon. Update: Food was OK. Burger overcooked fries incredibly greasy. The "waitress" seem annoyed that she had to even deal with us. Well, if she had even acknowledged our presence others would not have had to do her job. I am sure she will wonder why she didn't get a tip!! I always tip and tip well. But not for this one. My recommendation sit at the bar!! read more

Went here last night. Had never been to Putnam before but was told by some locals to check this place out. Parking seems like it could be tough on certain nights but we were able to grab a spot right out front and got seated very quickly. This is definitely a place where the locals hang out. Everyone seemed to know everyone and I think we kind of stuck out. I had a couple glasses of red sangria. Definitely not the the best I've had but not the worst. Ordered French onion soup for an appetizer. Delicious. For what it's worth I was told after the fact that their clam chowder is top notch. Entree was a chicken ranch wrap. Friend had a buffalo chicken wrap. Both very good. Both very filling. I have a feeling that there are not many restaurants in Putnam and we lucked out with this place. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll go here. read more

My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner. The waitress was very friendly. My husband ordered the prime rib and I had the seafood alfredo. We also order the potato skins as an appetizer. Our "go to" place when we ask ourselves "Do you wanna go out and eat somewhere tonight?" Prices are right on the money for what you get. CLEAN. Large portions. ALWAYS a quality meal. Great revolving beer selection on tap. Good service. The Courthouse has been a Putnam fixture for decades. For good reason. Their seafood alfredo never disappoints. Nor do any of their wraps. Portions are ample. Their menu has a fairly wide number of meal choices, but it has been much the same for several years. While "don't fix what ain't broke" is a New England catchphrase, some innovation on the menu might be in order. It's good, but stale. The owners have a long history of restaurant experience and are very active in supporting local causes. If you are a runner, compete in the St. Patrick's Day O'Putnam 5K and enjoy a brew and corned beef sandwich after the race courtesy of The Courthouse. I just wish they'd add new offerings to their menu. read more

Reallly good chicken wings (bone-in)! Havent tried the really hot hot saucr yet, but the medium one is good. Ive had a few of the pastas, they all have been great! My favorite so far is the Seafood Alfedo! The ribeye steak is great also! read more
