Recently stayed here for a business trip. Check-in was a breeze- the staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. Room: clean, awesome design/ambience and very comfortable. The bed was great- not too hard and not too soft. The view: fabulous! Request a higher level floor when staying here- you will not be disappointed. Overall, a great place to stay. This might be the only hotel in downtown Amarillo. The hotel was built in an historic building from the early 1920's in Amarillo. The current owner (Marriott) does a good job of highlighting the historical significance of the building. The rooms are big enough and standard for what you would expect from a Marriott Courtyard property. There is a coffee bar in the main lobby that also serves breakfast in the morning. There is not a bar in the lobby, but you can buy single beers from the front desk. The parking is a little tricky because there is not an elevator connecting the parking garage and the hotel. The hotel recommends that you drop off your bags AND THEN park in the adjacent garage...because you have to walk down a set of stairs to get back into the lobby. read more

Wonderful restoration. This is a great building, and the interior kinda reminds my of an Aflot hotel, but not too contemporary. Very clean and classy. The nicest hotel in Amarillo. Highly reccomend. Very pretty rooms. However, the bathroom was clearly not cleaned. Soap from the previous resident was left in the bath and sink, the toilet was not clean (urine on the seat...ew), and there was hair on the floor. We noticed that the toilet was broken within the first ten minutes after checking in, and when my boyfriend and I mentioned it to the office staff, they said they would send a repairman up at some point. They never offered to give us a new room, so we were forced to sit around and wait for a guy to come by (no privacy). This is a minor thing, but when we initially reserved the room, we requested a room towards the top of the building. They gave us a room on the second floor right next to the elevator, despite the empty hotel. This would easily be a four star star hotel if the room was clean and our reservation request was honored. read more

My only complaint the hotel was EXTREMELY perfumed. If you are at all sensitive stay away, I had a headache and sore throat our entire stay. We were passing though Amarillo we stayed a night in this wonderfully updated historic building. Helpful Staff and a Great view. No real restaurant at the hotel just a snack bar. read more

Ok, so we don't hate the hotel, but some aspects were not so great, some were nice... Location: Downtown Amarillo is the worst, I mean its a ghost town, dilapidated buildings, ugly, a true armpit. There is no reason to stay down here and you don't want to walk on the streets. Trust me. Hotel/parking: A renovated historic building. Parking was a disaster. There is a structure where you enter one of two ways: guest check in or guest parking. When arriving for the first time park at guest check in. There are a few spots with time limits and handicap spots galore. The guest parking side is code protected so you can't park there until you check in... Once you have your code and key, get back in your car and drive around the block to enter the guest parking side. Seriously, no way to do that any differently. OH NO! Hopefully you didn't forget to take your luggage out when you were on the check in side, there are NO elevators in the structure and no way besides trudging down the parking ramps with your stuff. OK. So parking stinks. At least you have a spot. Rooms: Nice, very large, ample space. Decorated nicely. AC blew COLD, furious and LOUD. Wear earplugs. The bathroom was average, moderately upgraded, seat in the shower. Bed was a tad hard, overall it was a fine sleep. The curtains are massive as the windows are huge, they do block out all the light. Food: What food? They have a coffee shop in the lobby that "serves Starbucks" not an actual Starbucks. They also have what appears to be a short order cook in the morning where they can make you a few breakfast items. The food was average... Eggs with fruit and the fruit was sitting in a full dish of water. Why the water? I was a little scared of it. Why not free breakfast? The front desk lady looked at us like we were crazy when we asked about complimentary breakfast! Summary: I would pass on this hotel. If you are that interested in staying in an abandoned city with a historic building then come on down. I would have preferred the hotel row down on the freeway to be honest. They might have thrown in a free bagel in the morning. read more

Avoid. My son was booked there on a business trip. Reservation was made in business name. Registration staff very rude. Would not honor because he did not have that business card. They called me, business owner, and I authorized. They still declined. He offered his business credit card but it had his middle and last name (he goes by middle name) and initially they were going to decline as well. I spoke with them, advised them I have stayed over 1100 nights at Marriott in the last 7 years and assured them I would notified Marriott. Was informed by registration clerk that they are a franchise and "could care less" if I called Marriott. The kicker was the agent disparaging him in Spanish to a janitor unbeknownst to them that he is fluent in Spanish. When I complained the manager responded defending her clerk and their/his actions. This is the second problem we had with this site. We will not have them again though. read more

This is our second stay with Courtyard Amarillo DT, the first was really nice we decided to stay on our way to Dallas. This time was a bit different. We checked in late Saturday night and the night scene was in full force. Our room was to the side of the party, a bit loud. The room was great. We got the King suite with tons of space! We were able to stretch out and do some yoga without being in the way of the TV. Just a note to the staff, really, there should be more than one coffee pod per room! Vacation or business stay, we need more than the single cup of coffee to get rolling in the morning! Overall, it was a nice stay, clean renovated rooms, right downtown. read more

The staff is courteous, parking is free and safe, the rooms are clean and very spacious. The restaurant in the loony makes it quick and easy to grab a coffee or a quick bite. This is always our hotel of choice in Amarillo. The downtown area is vibrant and lovely in the evenings with lots of restaurants and clubs within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel is located within the historic Fisk Building and the lobby area is hip, modern and clean in decor. The staff is always helpful and courteous, as well. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and well kept. The room decor carries over throughout the hotel with a modern and vibrant theme. The beds are very comfortable, there is ample work space for business travelers and plenty of closet space. Comparable to a bit pricier than most hotels in the Amarillo area, it's worth every penny! read more

I wanted to give this place 4 stars, but a couple of things really held me back. First off, it was my oasis in this town. I will probably be returning to this hotel when I come to the Amarillo area, although they just built a new Fairfield by the airport that looks like a good option as well. This is in a renovated old building, but don't let that excite you. There is very little left of the charm of the historic building except a few small details. They have full-fledged turned this into a typical Courtyard. Which can be a good thing as you get exactly what you expect. The views are pretty good, depending on which side of the building you get, as it is one of the taller buildings in downtown. The rooms are quite comfortable and exactly as expected for a Courtyard. Everything has been updated and is up to their standards. Now...why I could not give this place 4 or 5 stars: 1. Parking. There is no elevator in the parking garage next door, and very few spots on each floor, so you end up parking on the 3rd or 4th floor if you come in a bit later, hike down the stairs to the lobby, then up the elevator to your room. (and then back UP the stairs to get your car...) Spend the money and put in an elevator. 2. The Bistro is not up to standard. I eat there because I know what I will get. It is a limited menu, but usually well executed and familiar without the hassle of leaving the hotel. There was ONE person on staff, who continually ignored me. He made eye contact with me, but did not take my order for a full 5 minutes (he was cutting a melon and I guess wanted to finish first). No acknowledgement, nothing. I should have left...I waited for 45 minutes for a hamburger and a quesadilla, things that are not cooked fresh but re-heated and usually take the Bistro staff about 5-10 minutes to finish. He kept starting on it, then going and doing drinks at the bar for other people. He reheated my burger 3 times because he kept stopping and going to do other orders. Where was this eagerness when I walked up? I was the *only* customer he kept waiting. When I finally got my food? It was all at room temperature, not even hot. Forget that...I am so utterly disappointed in you, Marriott, for this. 3. The staff. I dealt with the same person my entire trip, so this is really just a comment on her. She was uninterested and unhelpful. I walked up to her with a soda I picked up in the market, set it on the counter, and said "reservation for ** checking in". She rang up my soda, charged me for it, and said "have a nice evening." Uh...what? I then later complained to her about the Bistro (see item 2), to which she replied only "Well he's the only one over there." I continued to say it was not to Marriott's standards and this was unacceptable and she said "Well I'll let him know." and walked away!! In short, the actual rooms are to standard, but nothing else was. I would give it 2 stars in comparison to other Marriott properties, but it gets 3 because I'm comparing it to other options available in Amarillo.... read more

The staff at this hotel have been very kind and they have met every one of our needs. I cannot say enough nice things about the staff, but we are on the East side of the hotel facing two night clubs. If you want sleep, do not stay on the East side of the hotel if you have a choice. If you don't have the choice, don't book. It ruins the experience. You will be in our shoes, up at 12:30 with a crying baby. Not enjoyable. read more

When are they going to open a Marriott hotel with hot water? I had to stay in three Marriott hotels across the country during December, and none of them had hot water. The hot water heater is one of the two things that you must have as a hotel, the other being clean beds. It doesn't matter how much you will save on your electric bill. Stayed here for my wedding over Memorial Day weekend and it was perfect! They were super accommodating. I was able to block off 15 rooms (you can ask to block off more) and reserve a meeting room for brunch the following day. The rooms were clean and updated and there is a Starbucks bistro downstairs. We was very disappointed in the service at the front desk and bistro. We always use Courtyard by Marriott in other cities and also for our church functions, but this was the first time that we experienced this. The guy at the front desk was not knowledgeable in his job and gave out incorrect information and the room was not ready after the time states on the website and itinerary . He ended up putting a hold on my niece card for parking that was more than the amount that he stated it would be, and oh by the way, it will take 7 to 10 BUSINESS days to get it back on there. What he should have done was explain the policy for the hotel and credit card use. It was not a friendly place for us, even the next morning when I went down for coffee at the bistro. I only order a cup of Starbucks coffee and was told that they will call me when it was ready, I sat for about 15 minutes waiting on my coffee while seeing other customers come way after me get their order and leave. After going up to the counter to question the young lady, who did not acknowledge me but the other young man (Jamal) saw me standing there and asked me , "what was the problem" and I told him and within 2 to 3 minutes the coffee was finished. Jamal stated that, " he did not see a ticket for my order", I showed him my receipt and he apologized. We will NEVER stay at another Courtyard by Marriott again. Comfortable beds, clean and quiet and a few great restaurants and bars just across the street - try Gooney's for Asian food and Butlers for a good drink. I am a very loyal member of Marriott properties. Life time gold and close to completing lifetime platinum. I have both paid for a room here and used points. The last time I stayed I used points and the front desk did not at first understand my request as I needed two rooms that connected due to my young children. I called reservations and they helped get it arranged. The rooms are very nice and don't have the old building smell that other properties similar to this hotel. The building is impressive and it is right downtown. I have always loved old architecture. The price can get a little high depending upon what events are in town but for the most part it is competitively priced. It is a nicer than average Courtyard property. If you are looking for a nice property to celebrate a special occasion it is worth spending extra for the suits. read more

Hotel is on the pricey range but it was very plush and nice so I can't complain. Only reason for not getting a 5 star rating is the parking garage wasn't the greatest and the elevators need a better cleaning. I checked in here for one night without reservation on 03/26/16. I was met with a lovely receptionist who was most helpful. She was great. She put me in a room that was just perfect which was quiet and mid-level. The room was clean, well organized, and comfortable. I paid a AAA rate of $89.25, but with taxes the total came to $102.65 which was good. I am a Marriott Rewards customer but I didn't use any points to book this room. I would stay here again. Covered parking is free. That's good because it snowed overnight and my car was free of snow and ice and easily accessible. read more

Let me start by saying I am a Platinum Premier Elite Marriott member. ( which means I stay at a Marriott property 3-5 nights a week on business, and have been for the last 16 years.) I checked in on the 21st of June to stay that night. Upon checking in, I was informed that I was supposed to have been there for the previous night. Not sure where the mix up was, but my intention was, and has been to stay for the night of the 21st. I was told by the desk clerk that they would address this with a manager and I shouldn't be charged for a no show fee. I have never been charged a no show fee when there was an obvious mistake made. Well, I was here. Called back a week later and was told they had no flexibility in their policy and that I would be charged for a full nights stay. I don't charge my customers when a mistake is made in scheduling and I don't expect to be charged here either. Guess I will NOT be staying at this Marriott anymore. I would suggest if you decide to stay here that you call to make sure that they have you down for the correct night(s). read more

I want to give extra kudos to the bistro server, Elvira. I hope she is your server, because you couldn't ask for better service. She was kind, helpful, and efficient. Plus, she is friendly! Breakfast came out quickly, so we were able to get back in the road in a timely manner. The hotel itself is a nice place to stay. The rooms are clean and quiet, plus they are fairly large. I wasn't sure about the parking, but they have security cameras, so I would call it safe. I am traveling across the country with a car full of stuff, so I have wanted to be careful. I am glad to report safe parking here too. If you want to stay in downtown Amarillo, I would recommend this hotel. read more

I've stayed here before with great results but this last time was a disappointment. I was overcharged for the stay and the front desk wouldn't do anything about it. The staff was decent but not great. The shower head was full of hard water deposits and would not adjust. The heater in the room made me sick and full allergens and the bed was not comfortable at all. The good is that the hotel is clean and very neat to stay at. read more
