I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. I was able to book online for the same night and ended up extending my stay for a few days. Upon arrival, the front desk receptionist was helpful and quick to check me in. My king room was clean, spacious and overlooked the pool which was nice. Later on I moved to a 2 queen room with my sister. There is laundry onsite which was super helpful for me. You can get quarters and detergent from the front desk (detergent is expensive, better to buy your own elsewhere). Parking was easy and location is near many shops and restaurants. I would definitely come back if I am in the area again. read more

The hotel front desk people are great! I'm giving 4 stars because when the Bistro opened at 5 for dinner, one person ordered in front of me. The girl was taking orders and cooking by herself . She mixed up my meal with the guy in front of me. I had to wait 20 minutes for the the mistake to be fixed but she did offer me a drink. Would be nice to get her some help so she's not doing the orders and cooking the food herself. read more

This courtyard is staining the very name of Marriott. Yes, the rate is reasonable. Yes, the rooms are suites (not sure if they're all suites). But I couldn't tell if I was in Motel 6 or a Marriott brand. They gave me a room for a handicap person without asking me if I was okay with that. The AC in the living room worked fine, but the one in the best didn't and I couldn't even turn it off. The noise from the AC going on and off all night made sure I wouldn't get a wink of sleep. The bath tub was clogged. This court yard was the worst I've ever stayed in (and I've stayed in lots of court yard). read more

Stayed at this hotel on Sept 10th for one night. The room next to ours was having a very loud party, beating on the walls, loud music and screaming. After listening to this for several hours I called the front desk and complained. The girl was very rude and said, no one else has complained. I told her I don't care about anyone else - you need to handle this because I haven't gotten any rest for the past few hours. She sent someone up who had to knock on the door several times because they were so loud they obviously didnt hear the knock. Thru my door I heard a male employee tell them they needed to be quiet, the employee then left. Now the loud party moves into the hallway, starts running up and down the halls and throwing ice at each other. This went on for about another hour with no follow up from any hotel employees. In the morning, I noticed my bill showed a $44 charge for room service which I never ordered food. When I went to the front desk to checkout, I asked to speak with a manager. The employee at the desk - Pedro, was friendly but stated no managers would be in the hotel until Monday. How odd right? He did apologize for the disturbance and refunded the room service charge. He stated he would make note of the situation. You would think a manager would call me to follow up - but that hasn't happened. If you want some rest and quality service with follow-up - don't stay here! read more

This place has to be one of the unsatisfying place I have stayed for a Marriott! The service does not represent the name! It feels like a regular low budget hotel sadly. The pool doesn't work and as of what the rep said on the front said it hasn't been working for almost a year now since covid started! I don't think the gym is sufficient for amenities, it's like a whatever gym nothing special. The walls do sound paper thin and to be switched to another room is pointless... the first night we came to hotel and vehicle that was parked a few feet from our vehicle was broken in...that actually made us feel like this area is unsafe, unfortunately we had booked to this hotel for a whole 5 days for my husbands training. I honestly don't think they practice safety or cleanses for still being on covid days. I am just so unsatisfied as a customer, we had our pets stay with us this week. I get it said not allowed, but we called before coming and they noted that it was ok to do so... we got reminded of that extra charge like every time we went to the front seat to ask for something like dang , y'all don't have to remind us we know and said it clearly the first time I spoke to u. I am a Marriott fan and stay only at Marriott hotels. This particular hotel was so-so. The staff was 100 percent amazing and Eric was outstanding! Not only was he on top of everything he answered all questions with a happy smile and made you feel as if you are very important. Pros - pool is nice, staff is nice, lobby is nice, price was great as we had a deal for baseball, lots of local restaurants near by etc. Cons - Sorry Marriott I have to say this hotel needs to feel more like a Marriott. Update: I am very pleased to learn that the issue below has been resolved and I expect a credit to me issued in the next week. Upon arriving to the hotel and checking the front desk clerk advised me that I actually had three reservations. I received error messages both times I attempted for make a reservation from I-5, so I assumed I had no reservation and resorted to a phone call. Apparently, the two reservations I made on-line in-fact went through the system, so those two reservations along with the phone call apparently made the three. The front desk agent said, "no problem I can cancel two of the reservations". I clearly stated I was not interested in paying for one room twice and she agreed. By the way, the hotel was in an over-sold position so I some level this may have help other stranded drivers. I have paid this Marriott twice for my room, once to the 800 line which required I pay while in the phone and once with the Marriott directly, both charges on my VISA. I have also provided the GM, Jenny Hlaudy with a copy of the receipt that indicates the Marriott was paid, and the specific amount. Evidence the hotel received two payments for one room in a sold-out hotel exists. I have requested that one of the room charges be credited with no action or even reply to my email (below). Also, I am a Bonvoy Member with status. HERE IS MY NOTE TO HOTEL W/O THE REFERENCED ATTACHMENTS: 12/31/19 Jenny, Thank you for your time on the phone today. Below is the charge for the room on the 26th as viewed on my Visa Statement and further down is the requested receipt for the room. With this information, we can surmise Marriott has been paid for the room by your vendor and well as the separate charge from the hotel, both to my Visa. For Marriott to essentially be paid me twice for the room, especially considering the hotel was full (oversold according to your own representative) seems very unfair and usurious. Again, the Front Desk representative was very helpful and assured me that she could cancel two Marriott reservations. Perhaps she thought the one made via phone could be cancelled??? Importantly, your representative, re-assured me upon check-in that I would be only charged once for the stay. The simplest way at this point might be crediting the Marriott charge of $114.49 or credit me the $104.00 you received from the vendor as indicated below and keep your charge intact. Excellent hotel - is an understatement! The morning bistro staff was so friendly, nice and accommodating each and every morning! Such a fresh experience at this hotel to have top notch service. The front desk and manager as well, were super nice and welcoming. Our room was clean and fresh and I am picky! I wish there were more hotels like this! Hot starbucks coffee and hot breakfast in the morning and hot food in the day and evening was so convenient! The lobby was warm and inviting with the fireplace going, clean tables and lounging area and tv's was nice! So glad I chose this hotel over the many other options! Not too shabby for 60 bucks on priceline!! Stayed out here the night before driving really really fast on the track in Buttonwillow.... The hotel was clean and the bed was comfy... can't really complain too much there! Bathrooms were nice and seemed newly renovated; highly doubt I'll ever need to spend the night in Bakersfield but if need be.... I wouldn't mind staying here again! This Courtyard by Marriott in Bakersfield is conveniently located near shopping and restaurants. The outside is a little worse for wear but the inside is a bit more modern. The hotel is clean, room is clean, and contains the basic amenities. It's pretty quiet up here on the third floor. Traveling south from San Francisco to Los Angeles, I needed a layover and thought it would be Buttonwillow... However, the hotels there seemed very subpar and I looked further to Bakersfield. I found this hotel and what attracted me To the listing was the value of the amenities, the no pets rule, no smoking hotel wide, free and safe parking, food and beverage options which were more than ample and the price. The room was spacious, the air conditioning was available on Celsius and Fahrenheit, the bed was very comfortable and plenty of amenities in the room. I highly recommend this hotel, the staff are very nice. I asked for late check out and it was no problem. I will most definitely stay here again and I highly recommend it. read more

Don't overlook this hotel. I know a lot of people see a Courtyard and they think to move on, but this is really nice. My husband works for a Marriott and we didn't even have a reservation, we walked in late at night and checked availability and we were able to get a room with the friends and family rate, not the employee rate. I think if we booked ahead he obviously could have gotten the employee rate but we were happy with the discount that we got. The lobby is contemporary and they have items that you can buy like candy, drinks, even alcohol. There is a snack bar area that is also a bar. You can eat there or take your food to go. When we ate breakfast we were able to get a large booth and it has its own personal TV so my kids were able to watch Disney while we had breakfast. The room was really nice and having our 2 small kids there was stressful at first but this hotel was so accommodating that I didn't need to worry anymore. There is a huge LG flat screen in the room and Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. We were able to order food and bring it to our room and that was really nice since we were exhausted after driving all day. We ordered a cheese pizza for the kids and it was a good size, I was surprised! They also made a tuna sandwich and a chef salad too. I think that all of the food came to $32.00. Pretty pricey for the food itself but not bad at all for buying it in a hotel and the food was good too. read more

Absolutely horrible. I've been trying to block rooms for the past week for our guests for our wedding and this place has the absolute worst customer service. Every time I call at different parts of the day I am told that there is no one in the office to talk to to set up the block of rooms and today I tried again and was told the event specialists only comes in maybe a few hours a week but can't tell me when it is best to call her. I've left messages on top of messages with no response and I told the lady now nevermind I will find another hotel and all she responds back is thank you and hangs up. No sorry just a thank you we wasted a week of your time and hangs up. I never raise my voice, curse or anything but if I knew I would be treated like this in the beginning, I should've raised my voice. I was traveling from Oregon to San Diego, CA and stopped in Bakersfield for the 2nd night. I had originally booked a night at the Townplace Suites by Marriott which states they are "pet friendly" on their website. When I tried to check in I was told they didn't accept cats. So basically they are only a "dog friendly" hotel. I called the Courtyard and was immediately booked into a room that night with no questions asked, and yes, pet friendly means they accepted cats. The manager was very nice and even called to check on me after I had got into my room. Plus, the bed was amazing. I highly reccomend this hotel. read more

Literally the worst experience I have had in the last five years of exclusively staying at Marriott brands. From the moment you walk in the door and are not greeted by two very inexperienced and untrained personnel ...to the lack of bedding in a room that is supposed to accommodate more than one person ...to the NOT receiving deliveries you were supposed to get during an extended stay -there is no communication. Very surprising for Marriott. We have had to stay in this area several times for tournaments. We usually stay at the Convention Center. We continue to recommend that location because they know how to accommodate large groups and they knew how to deal with this volume of customer. In contrast, the Courtyard put on hold countless times -even from our own room and for seemingly mundane things such as not enough linens to needing more cups etc. Housekeeping is overworked and the line is not always picked up because of the shortage of staff. The front desk cannot be bothered and they make it known that they have "so many people in the lobby" that they can't deal with you. So we went downstairs to deal with it on our own and guess what?... There was NO ONE in front of the front desk. So stop hiring people that are substandard in a large group setting abs stop hiring people with no experience. Higher only people that are equipped to deal with large volumes of people. The convention center is much more equipped to deal with large groups of people during tournaments. We have stayed there even though it is slightly more money. You get what you pay for. The courtyard Marriott on Marriott drive is substandard and it should not even have the Marriott brand because they are not adequately prepared to deal with Marriott customers. Even now as I am writing this review, the air system in this room sounds like sand blasting an aluminum foil baking sheet and it's not even consistent. It is an inconsistent every few minute volume that is so loud...it is ridiculous. This is supposed to be a newer hotel and there's popcorn ceilings; adequate ventilation and substandard service. The only redeeming quality of this hotel that makes any different from a regular street side motel is the housekeeping. The rooms are extremely clean. And housekeeping is so courteous. But the staff that you meet when you first enter this place is so substandard that we will never come back and we will make sure that every review platform has our review because we have stayed it only Marriott resorts or hotels or any brand by Marriott for many years now and this by far is nowhere near the caliber of any establishment that Marriott should learn its name to. read more

I didn't know they made hotels this nice in Bakersfield. My partner and I got stranded in Bakersfield after our car had trouble, and I booked this hotel (literally the last room) at the last minute. The hotel is pretty new, the rooms are spacious, the bed and pillows are super comfy and there is a nice pool and a big hot tub that are open pretty late. Parking is easy. There's a cafe in the lobby that has breakfast and dinner (we didn't try the food) and also serves a full bar in the evening. But the thing that makes the place great is the service. Everyone here was incredibly helpful. They recommended a great place to grab lunch walking distance away (in a hotel - wouldn't have found it otherwise) and when our repairs ran late into the next day, they first gave us a free late checkout, then let us put all our stuff behind the desk and hang out in the lobby. Everyone was so friendly! I would recommend this place to anyone who is in Bakersfield! read more

Every year, I travel through Bakersfield at Thanksgiving time. I normally stay at the Marriott Courtyard. But this time, I didn't realize that the place was all under construction. Funny how that's not disclosed. I guess they don't feel it's an issue for guests. I arrived at the temporary side door entrance...and rang the temporary door buzzer bell, and no one even came to open the door. I started banging on the window glass...hoping someone would open up. I started rapping on the glass with my keys...and finally a lady came to the door, and opened it just a crack...asking "can I help you?". As she is guarding the door, and suggesting that it's not OK to enter, I told her I had a reservation. Time was 10:49am. The first words out of her mouth were "It's not 11:00am yet, and if you check in, I'll have to bill you for an extra half day, but you can wait in your car." I looked at her in disbelief. I said "I'm sorry I'm a few minutes early....ok, fine, I'll wait in my car."...and she shut the door closed, as if was some sort of security facility. The lady was totally rude...and I found it to be a weird way of welcoming a guest to the business. At 11:00am, I went to check in, and she continued her rude ways...I told her "I couldn't believe you shut the door on me, and wouldn't let me in." She became argumentative...and I just said "whatever". I couldn't get away from the woman fast enough. I like to sleep with the windows open, and for some reason, the place smelled like a sewage pumping station. Horrible... When I checked out the next morning, I told the clerk that I was returning next week, and that I'd like to book another room. She said there were lots of rooms available, but that the rate was higher. I looked at her in disbelief...and just shook my head. I asked if she could honor the current rate...and the answer was "no". I told her "I'll pass." I walked next door to the Hilton and booked a room for even less that my original rate at the Marriott. This was one of the worst hotel stays I've ever had. I was first assigned a room (different than I had reserved) next to two party rooms with loud music playing at midnight. I was moved down the same hall to another room next to a couple fighting until 4 a.m., who then kept making noise in their bed into the rest of the morning. I let the front desk associate Theron know about this and, while he apologized, did nothing to make the experience better. I asked that my comments be passed to the manager. I never received any follow up communication whatsoever until I completed an automated email survey about my stay. Stayed here for 4 days, 3 nights. Housekeeping was very friendly and kept my room nice. The other people I was with said they could hear some industrial noise from nearby semi trucks but I honestly couldn't hear a thing. The blackout blinds were awesome, and each room has a mini fridge! There is a restaurant in the hotel that does breakfast and dinner, and the potatoes that come with breakfast are to die for. They also have a large coffee menu with Starbucks coffee. We only ordered off the dinner menu once, I got the fry trio that comes with an array of dipping sauces which were all delicious. Long story short.... my room had cockroaches. Not 1, not 2 but at least 3 that I killed. They were completely booked and it took them over an hour to figure out what to do. I am a big fan of the Courtyards. But after this experience I don't think i can stay there anymore. They did end up moving me in the middle of the night, but i slept with the lights on and was paranoid for the 2 nights I was there. This was on the 1st floor near the elevators. This was a split stay, meaning I was here for 3 nights and 2 days later came back for 2 more. Staff was excellent. Handled my early check in with no issues and everytime I needed something, they were there to provide it. Example was a shower drain that was slow and similar issue with the toilet. Both were handled within an hour of notifying the front desk. Pool side with balcony can get noisy with the door open....less noisy on the other side. Well I booked this room through bookit.com and when I arrived a little after 12am a lady named Pasty was at the front desk and stated she didn't have my name listed on RSVP. I told her I did before midnight through the site and she began to explain to me the process of how it works with 3rd party but her tone was really rude. Too tired to argue after I requested her to refresh her computer she then told me, "I dont know what to tell you cause I still dont see your name, you may need to call them. So having the bookit.com agent on speaker phone he begins to tell her the confirmation was sent and it was on her end that she didnt recieve it. It got so bad and confusing for me the customer I politely asked the agent to call her on the hotel business phone to figure this out cause this was unprofessional for me the customer to hear them go back and forth on my personal phone about the room that was already paid for.... the agent put me on hold and called her immediately but unable to resolve the issue they cancelled my RSVP through them and I paid the hotel directly. The agent concerned if the hotel would give me the same price Patsy was rude telling him I can't give out asking price but could tell him after taxes if it was close to what I was gonna pay for through the site . I'm assuming to avoid me from getting swindled. I think the staff at this hotel should remain professional especially when dealing business in front of the customers because at first she was being hostile towards me and then to realize it was the 3rd party's fault she apologized and was very accommodating afterwards. Anyhow I ended up paying for the room out of pocket but used my AAA membership discount and what would have been 127 and some chang... I paid 115.58 after the 12% tax added. This was not resolved until about 1:15a.m. getting to our room which was great except the TV didnt work which my 2 kids normally would watch it and not bother the hubby and I so we could sleep in....was a bust but the room was spacious and beds and pillows were comfortable. We headed out to Bakersfield for a wedding in the family. I made the reservations at the Courtyard Marriott for a few reasons. I was looking for a place that was above average, conveniently located near the Seven Oaks Country Club and preferably freeway accessible. For the most part, The Courtyard Marriott just about fit the bill but I'd have to say it was every so slightly above average. What threw me off a little was the rooms were a lot smaller than they appeared in the advertisements and on the website. Not to say they were small, but more so they looked really large in the photos. High five to the professional photographer on the illusion. The front desk folks were very accommodating and friendly upon our arrival. The lobby was modern, with a nice office area, bar area and dining area. Before we headed out to the wedding, I took their iron and ironing board for a spin because my shirt was a tad wrinkled, which was nice because it all worked properly. I've been to some places where the ironing board is all rickety and the iron is leaking water which gets all over what your ironing, so I did appreciate the condition of their amenities. What can I say, I pay attention to detail and it's the little things sometimes that make the difference. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Like when I called to get bedding for the fold out bed for someone in our group, the staff was very nice and explained the extra bedding was in the closet. Guess I shoulda looked first but what can I say, it was late and I was tired from all the wedding fun. The beds were pretty comfortable and pillows were very fluffy and soft. The overall hotel rooms were clean and well kept, although the ventilation was a little stuffy in one of the rooms our group was in. One kinda funny observation I made was the elevator we used near our rooms, had distinct motor oil kinda scent. I don't think it was intentional, like for ambience or anything. I was almost waiting to see a mechanic in overalls every time the door opened. Ok not really. Overall The Courtyard Marriott was an okey dokey place to stay. Here for a week on business and it's always a nice little home away from home type hotel. Comfy bed and pillows. Great sized room, has a good sized love seat with a cute little coffee table, roll out desk and chair. Nice tv, mini coffee maker and mini fridge. Comes with 2 decent sized purified water bottles and fixings for coffee or tea. There is also 2 glass cups on the bathroom sink and a ice bucket. Plenty of counter space connected to the dresser which has 3 drawers (other rooms may have more drawers). Good sized bathroom as well that comes with decent sized shampoo, conditioner and body wash bottles. It also comes with a small body soap bar and facial bar. Honestly not bad bad at all. If you want to stay some where this is the place to stay. Great and friendly service as well. read more
