I must say this was my first time actually staying in Bakersfield and I was honestly surprised that…read morethe Marriott was completely booked! Granted it looked like all construction workers because there was nothing else but oversized trucks in their parking lot! My fiancé Googled "clean hotel without bed bugs" and Padre Hotel came up first! Their online reviews were great and we were exhausted and needed to rest! We pulled into their valet parking just to drop off our things. As my fiancé parked the car, across the street in the over night garage, I was able to get a Single King room on a Monday night for $159. As we walked into our room #701, it was rather small, but fine since it was just the two of us. As I sat on the bed, it was actually hard! Yay!!!! I can't STAND soft beds and rather sleep on the floor! Haha no joke! Then my fiancé went into the restroom and suddenly he tapped on something glass sounding as I was turning ing on the tv..... I noticed there was a curtain by the bed, so I pulled it across and lo and behold by the bed was the shower and just a curtain the person from the outside of the shower could open/close as they please..... hee. We also had a mini fridge in the room along with a desk and chair. We had planned on staying one night, but got inside LA, and we figured we'd extend our stay. Upon doing so, we went downstairs the next day and asked if there was a deal if we could stay 3-4 days, and sure enough there was!!!! It's always great to see what happens once you ask! Hee. We got a larger room with a corner room location, I forgot the room number, but the restroom was larger and had a separate wall between the toilet and shower area, so if someone was in the shower, someone else could use the toilet and not be seen. This longer hotel room also had a chaise lounge chair and a better view of their downtown area, granted a lot of the places have closed. Overall, I honestly loved our stay here! It reminded me of a county version of The Fairmont SF! They constantly played new aged country music in the lobby! Then on Fridays and Saturdays there was a live band or singer in the bar area! I love how they had a community aspect to the hotel with some local live entertainment!!! My fiancé also loved watching The Knicks play on the bar tv with other people at the bar! Hee. Oh and they had an adorable coffee shop that made Ready To Order items downstairs too! See my review at Farmacy Cafe, but too freaking too! Country SHREK! Hee We will definitely be back again!!!!!

There were a couple of office buildings and an Italian restaurant nearby. Check in was quick and easy. They gave us a room with 2 queen beds on an upper floor, exactly as we reserved. The room was clean and comfortable. Soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion bottles were full. They have a gym downstair with treadmill, ellipticals, and dumbbells. It was good enough to get a good workout. Breakfast is served downstairs in the morning. They have their usual Hilton special microwaved foods. Coffee and teas are also available. It's a good property. Good enough for one night.

When we returned to our room, we found that the bathroom sink was completely backed up and would not drain properly. Even more concerning, there was pubic hair left in the shower, making it clear that the bathroom had not been cleaned thoroughly before our arrival. This was both unsanitary and disgusting. On top of that, the walls were incredibly thin. We could hear conversations, doors closing, and other guests throughout the night, making it difficult to relax or get a good night's sleep. We chose this hotel expecting the clean, comfortable experience that Home2 Suites is known for, but this stay fell far below those expectations. We hope management takes these issues seriously and improves both housekeeping standards and room maintenance so future guests don't have the same experience

The hotel is not a 5 star hotel, but is is very nice and the staff is the best. They have your room ready on time and when they can they will give you a late check out. The rooms are sound proof which is nice because it is connected to a concert venue. There are also a lot of conventions there. The rooms are super clean and very comfortable. They are a nice size and we loved our bathroom. We had a sofa and a desk and all we needed was there. They also have an eatery which is really good. We loved the pool and the fitness room. What really stood out for us was the maid service, the rooms were spotless and the front desk staff who know everything about, well, everything Bakersfield. You can't go wrong here.

It's a centralized location, walking distance for restaurants. But I can't say I was happy with the stay. Meh. Unfortunately there were a few issues. To start, our keys didn't work upon check in, so we had to run back downstairs to get a new set. The showerhead was disappointing as the water pressure was subpar and the settings also left something to be desired. We did not have maid service for over 8 hours on Saturday which posed an inconvenience for our schedule in the afternoon. There was a clog in the shower/tub drain, and one of the light bulbs in the room didn't work. There was a nearby train which could be heard in the room. On the plus side, they did have some car charging stations in the parking lot for a fee (ugh). Nothing much stood out about the staff, either in a good way or bad way. We weren't in the room enough for these things to derail our visit but the overall experience left something to be desired.

During a stay in late February 2026 (Room 432), I encountered live roaches in the room and checked out immediately (2 days into a 4-day stay). That alone was bad enough, but what followed was worse. At checkout, I asked the front desk clerk, Lydia, if this had been reported before and was told it was "not the first time." I expected management to follow up, but no one reached out. After multiple attempts, I finally spoke with the manager (Cal), who told me the issue was not isolated and blamed their pest control vendor. He also said he had tried to contact me but didn't have my number, which didn't make sense given that my contact information is provided at check-in. I tried to resolve this through IHG Diamond Services starting January 30. While they initially responded, the case stalled while waiting on the hotel. I eventually escalated to executive-level review and never received any response at all. Nearly two months later, there is still no resolution. I travel frequently for work, stay at IHG properties often, and don't write reviews like this lightly. A serious room issue is one thing, but the complete lack of follow-through and accountability is what stands out. Disappointing experience overall.

If we were staying longer, we would have really used those. We did use the freezer and the microwave, and they were fine. There's a sitting area with a comfortable loveseat and coffee table. The TV is oddly off to the side, perpendicular to both the bed and the couch. We didn't watch TV, but it would be difficult to see the screen as it is currently laid out. The bathroom is huge with a tub and shower combo. There's a nice dressing area with a huge closet, mirror, sink, etc. The room had a blow drier and iron. The best thing about this hotel is the included breakfast buffet. They have eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and much more, on a rotating basis that changes daily. It was terrific! The eating area is large with many tables, so no problem finding a place to sit. I really like this hotel and I'll be back!

I remember staying at this hotel probably in 2021 and it wasn't a fair time to review since it was still semi covid at the time. This time around, the reason we chose this north location over the south was because there is an indoor pool here vs the outdoor pool at the south location of Bakersfield. The south location was actually cheaper than this one but that location looked more run down compared to this one. Both back in 2021 and this time we did choose the one bedroom suite room to accommodate my children better. Both times I stayed, we found I think 2 cockroaches in the bathroom the next morning back in 2021, and this time we only found one in the bathroom in the morning. Now don't get me wrong: no one wants to find cockroaches in a hotel, but having had to deal with roaches in college apartments years before I can say that it's likely just the area that has roaches and there's not really anything that can be done despite how clean the room was. I will note that there appears to be, short staffing at this location to put it kindly. After we checked in I never saw anyone at the front desk. Being in a suite and having listed 4 people on the reservation I would expect 4 bath towels, but there was only two. Since there was no front desk person we were fortunate to run into a cleaning staff member and asked for two bath towels on our way to the pool. It appeared that there was no pool towels provided despite that I recall seeing a towel return bin. We had our own swim ponchos so we didn't even bother asking for swim towels. The rest of the evening stay was fine, I was prepared to utilize the microwave to heat dinner for my family of 4 accordingly. The pull out couch bed worked just fine for my kids and the normal bed was fine as well. Breakfast was exactly what I expected at a La Quinta, reliably a couple hot items, yogurt, oatmeal, fruit, and breads/toaster and waffle maker as well as juice. Overall, this is a reliable spot for a one night stay when you need it as a stop over, and I'd be willing to stay again for a stop over. Just have realistic expectations that Bakersfield is a more or less desert city and unfortunately roaches are inevitable as a result. Also expect less staffing available and it'll be an acceptable one night stay.
