The drive from the Bay Area to Las Vegas is too long so we stay in Bakersfield. Since we were arriving late Saturday, we booked the DoubleTree since it was cheaper than a lot of other hotels. We stayed here once before in Nov 2025 & didn't have the best experience due to ants in the room (158), but it can't be bad again right?! We made sure not to stay on the 1st floor this time. We arrived around 10:15pm and dragged all our luggage to the 4th floor, room 460. We open the door, turn on the lights.. cockroach!!! The biggest one I've seen in my life. We immediately went to the lobby to ask if we can get a refund because there is no way I am staying in that property. Fortunately, the gentleman at the front desk was understanding and got us checked out and refunded quickly (much appreciated!!!). read more

A HIGH-QUALITY DoubleTree location! I'm so impressed with the quiet, clean and comfortable experience my Mom and I had while staying here. The large Camino Del Rio DoubleTree hotel is home a huge lobby, restaurant, and many amenities. I spotted a pool and sizable courtyard. The hotel has tons of rooms and has a neo-70s vibe without feeling old or dated. The furniture is up-to-date and the carpet feels fresh. I liked how the rooms had neat oil themed art on the walls, it's a nice homage to the city's history. Customer service was excellent at the front desk, my Mom was given two warm cookies upon check-in. This was a nice surprise for us after a long drive from SoCal! Our concierge Rodrigo was spot-on, he provided a detailed explanation of the property's layout and informed us about the hotel's many features. Note, there isn't complimentary breakfast at this location. Any food from the restaurant is available for an extra cost by dining at the establishment. My Mom and I felt safe throughout the duration of our stay. I didn't hear any antics or shenanigans in the middle of the night. Families were quiet and respectful. Every area within the property was well-lit and parking was plentiful. Overall, this hotel is pretty convenient. We didn't have to pay for additional parking fees and we were near several eateries (steakhouse, John's Incredible Pizza, Scrambled, Taco Bell, etc.). Additionally, we were near a major highway! After being stuck in hours of LA traffic, I was looking for a decently priced hotel that was clean (no reviews mentioning bed bugs) and had a gym. After doing a quick Google search (that I cross-checked with Yelp), I found the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Bakersfield. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a plethora of parking spaces (this location also has a ton of Tesla/EV chargers). Walking into the lobby, I noticed a restaurant and bar that had a significant amount of folks watching a Thursday night football game. If you're into football, you'll be happy to know that the bar offers Thursday night drink specials that last through the duration of the respective game. After being quickly checked in by a friendly employee, I made my way upstairs to my fourth floor room. The room was very clean and offered two things that I deem essential in a room - a smart TV and a refrigerator. Unfortunately, the room did not have a microwave; therefore, I was grateful that my dinner was a Panera sandwich that could be eaten cold. The next day I utilized the very clean and well-equipped gym. Aside from cardio equipment (including a Peloton cycle-fancy!), there was a cable crossover machine and dumbbells that went up to 75 pounds. I only had two beefs with this location (mentioned in order of importance). One being that it's in close proximity to the freeway; therefore, if you are given a room that faces the freeway (as I was), you will hear modified exhaust notes and other highway-related sounds. The rooms are well-insulated; however, if you're a sleep-diva like me, those sounds are still prevalent. My other beef is that I was not offered the Doubletree staple....the warm cookie! Recently renovated property with close proximity to freeway, many food and bev establishments, Costco and the historic Crystal Palace. This has been a hotel for many, many years, possibly 50 but has been updated throughout, but you can tell these are old bones. The rooms are larger than newer hotels at least the double queen setup we had. Another cool feature was some of the rooms have a sliding door leading to a nice size balcony. Very unique compared to modern hotels. I loved sleeping with the door open at night because the desert really cooled down quickly once the sun went down. Another great feature being an older property was the large pool that also had a deep end. Very rare in modern properties that top out at 5ft. The hot tub was not very relaxing, the jets were so large they would not massage effectively. It would have been more pleasant getting sprayed with a fire hose. Other amenities on property included a bar, restaurant and banquet hall and a small store selling snacks, soft drinks, beer and microwaveable food items. Prices were reasonable. We had one issue during our stay which was outside of anyone's control, which was the fire alarm went off at 4 am. Very scary indeed to be woken up with no instruction from staff on what was happening. Later the next day we were told that a water leak caused it and we did notice fire inspectors on property the next day. Overall it was a decent stopping point as we made our journey through the central valley of CA. Besides the isolated fire alarm issue. Enjoy!! read more

Stayed for a work trip and it was a decent place to stay. The best part is the warm cookie. I didnt know that staying at DoubleTree, that is a perk and safe to say...Im obsessed with it! Otherwise, it was decent. My door shook so much that I woke up thinking someone was trying to break in.. so heads up if you hear people slam their doors.. your door might start shaking. The layout is confusing and disorienting.. so don't feel bad if you somehow lose your way to the lobby. Frustrating part is when you go towards the exit door, you're in a different part of the outer perimeter. I had breakfast during the stay there and service was good. I was a bit disappointed that I got charged for a side of fruit as a substitution to bread as a side... but can't complain because the food was good enough to satisfy me. read more

My mother-in-law and I booked this hotel over Memorial Day weekend and the price was $594.47 per night. We were shocked to receive the bill and it charged an extra $244.74 per night for tax and resort fees! That was never disclosed at booking. We knew there would be some extra fees, but not an extra $734 for a 3 night stay. I tried calling the hotel for clarification and could not reach a human and AI could not answer the question. I called the front desk and talked to Albert and confirmed check out was at noon. I was in my room at 10 am the the maid had stripped my bed, threw the sheet in front of the tv so I couldn't see the full tv and threw the other dirty sheets on the clean bed. 3 photos attached. Albert apologized but when I went to put my Do Not Disturb sign so that the maid didn't enter again she was in the hallway and I told her she stripped my bedding when check out isn't until noon and I'm not done with the room. Esmeralda the maid said she was the one of did it and had the audacity to blame me and tell her that "no one told her." I said no one told you I checked out I didn't. What is she even talking about? She then proceeds to blame me because there was no D&D. I told her I'm a Diamond Member and I've done this a time or two and that's not how it works and that no one gave her permission to strip my room. She had the audacity to tell me to "call the front desk then" as if she's right and invincible. I called Albert and let him know that the maid Esmeralda seems to think she's in the right. He apologized but nothing was done and I'm sitting in a messy room as I told him I'll be checking out at noon because I have a meeting at noon. Terrible maid service. UPDATE: I changed review from 1 star for Esmeralda the maid to 3 star ms since I give Alda 5 stars for helping me feel heard. And Carlos as well. read more

A recent stay at this DoubleTree did not disappoint and on par with their reputation despite the many older reviews about this location. Most importantly, my room was clean and felt refreshed. The rooms are spacious. The carpet is clean and even in the very corners of the room. Baseboard details with no signs of chipped paint. Bathroom details were impeccable, and fixtures were new. Bedding and towels are also on par with a nice 4-Star accommodations. Certainly a step above with rooms that are cooled and heated through a central HVAC. The hotel bar located just near the Guitar Wall, is comfortable. The full bar has a good selection. The barkeep may need a bit more training in the craft, but this is Bakersfield. Otherwise, keeping it neat isn't a bad thing. The Hilton App is interesting. It enables you to have control of your key card and your TV. Check out was also made available on the App. Don't forget about the cookies. They aren't placed in a basket at the front desk like other locations may have, so just ask their friendly staff behind the counter. They will gladly hand you a nice warm Chocolate Chip Cookie with Walnuts. read more

Worst hotel for ADA compliance. Way too many disabled parking spaces in the front of the hotel, when 100% of the rooms, are in the back of the hotel. Also, exit door not working for 4 days, near P 5 parking area. Had to have someone let me out of the exit door repeatedly. Reminded the hotel about the possibility of fire, and the hotel guest would be trapped. Also weird. At night, they lock up the parking lot, and if you are at a event, in the front of the hotel, you can not drive to the back of the hotel, near your room, because the gates to parking are all locked. Last, but not least, the disabled ramps near parking area 5, are way too steep, to accommodate a motorized wheelchair. If you have disabilities, this is Definitely NOT the hotel for you. Sadly, there are no bell persons, and the poor maintenance workers, are pressed into service, if you need help with your wheelchair. I personally will never stay at this hotel again. read more

My overall stay here was good! The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. I needed two joining rooms and they offered them here at the hotel. The rooms I booked were spacious and had an outdoor area. Checking in was easy and the front desk person that helped me was friendly. I had spoken to him on the phone prior about checking in early and I was able to do that so that was nice! The only issue I had was the keys. You need the key to open up the doors to enter the building outside and 3 out of the 4 keys we had didn't open the doors. They worked on the rooms but for some reason they didn't work on the outside of the building. Other than that everything else about my stay was good! read more

Honestly I'm not sure why this hotel has such low scoring. I was so skeptical about this place. My son played in a tournament and there weren't many options. We said a little prayer and from the beginning we had nothing but positive experience. It was clean, clean pool area, quiet, the cleaning staff was friendly as well. We didn't get a chance to eat breakfast but everyone was accommodating. It's so close to a Costco, restaurants and other areas you can go to. I'm giving it 4 stars only because the sheets were a little rough (nothing a softener can't solve) other than that everything was good. read more

Housekeeping rudely pounds on the door at 9:30 am Wakes us up. We DID NOT REQUEST THIS!!! Then they're in the hall speaking LOUD in Spanish interrupting our sleep No. We did not enjoy this inconveniences during our stay. Years ago you'd walk into your room with a nice big chocolate chip cookie on your pillow. Then it changed. At check in you received a warm cookie. A nice hotel but it didn't blow my mind with fancy ness by any means. It was cleaner than most and checked all the boxes as far as things a hotel should be, but it's clearly aging and doesn't jump into otherwise uncharted territory of incredibleness by any means. That said, the rooms were nice and clean and the beds were comfy. Parking was free and near enough to my room that I was able to see my car from my balcony. They have a bar and small restaurant on site as well as a place you can purchase snack items to take to your room, at a premium of course. Couple of things that were off putting to me were that they didn't put any bags in the garbage cans. They just left them empty. The walls in the room had canvas prints of oil mining rigs, which were also hung unusually low, and the towels are stored down underneath the bathroom sink in an abnormal and harder to reach spot. Top it off with a balcony room they sold me, at a higher price, but theres no chairs out there so you can't even enjoy it. Even finding a decent spot in the room to set down our luggage was a struggle. I didn't hate it here but Hilton can and should do better. Next time I'm in the area I might look into other options. read more

The hotel has been updated since COVID. I love the blue color. I love the guitar wall. I used to love Double Tree cookies. But they aren't what the used to be. I had an event here. Very disappointed. I had an arrangement with the coordinator that if I had extra food, I want to take them home. They were already paid for and I have the right to those meals. Well day of the event, they never talked to us about it. And when I asked for those, they said they trashed them. She knew that was a concern before we booked with them. Man, these people will lie to you to book so they can take your money. Very disappointed. Don't book your event here. It's not worth your stress or loss of money. But somehow every single trip (More then 40) they change my room from the one I selected lol. Gym is adequate, pool is nice and the space on the property is very good. If I am able to rate this place a zero I would. We have been here for two weeks for my husbands business trip. First night we had to change to a different room because of ant infestation. Is being clueless, they moved us to the room next door. Everything was fine until 2 night before checking out. We came back to the hotel that night and ants every where on the the TV/drawer. Cereal boxes were infested with ants, in our shoes, in the drawer. Oh and over $3000 of electronic equipments were also infested. Called front desk, lady there was amazing. She gave us an option to either move to a different room last night but it would be in the same wing of the hotel or wait till the morning and move to a different wing. We decided to wait till the morning since we had to pack everything. Well here's where everything went done hill. I called at 0830 to see if we can go ahead and move rooms. The lady who answered said there was no room available till a few hours from now. I then responded that we were told that the room is ready in the morning. She then started giving me attitude and said there's no rooms available. My husband was so pissed because she gave me such an attitude. He went downstairs to speak to the manager. I don't know what was said because he is still there. Stay tune for the update. I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE AND I DONT RECOMMEND STAYING AT THIS PARTICULAR HOTEL. read more

We stayed at the Hilton Bakersfield on our way to San Diego. Hotel was ill-staffed. 2 adults, 2 children (10-12) and were supplied with two skimpy bath towels. When we requested adequate towels we were told that property only had two staff. Downstairs desk and maintenance worker. There are 200+ units. No housekeeping staff. We were told that we could come to desk and pick up ourselves. Desk was at the farthest region from our room. The repeat request (first at 4:00) at 10 pm left us waiting until morning for our showers. Carpet in room was old and faded. Sink is in bathroom with commode. So taking care of essentials blended with brushing our teeth. there were no luggage carriers available for our luggage and elevators smelled. Front door did not shut thoroughly. On our way back from San Diego we stayed at the Bakersfield Marriot. $50 less expensive, adequate towels, staff accommodating. Rooms clean and fresh. Even a pad and pen in our room which we appreciated when we played cards. read more

No issues with bugs or musty smell in lobby from previous comments so management takes it seriously. COVID restrictions have the restaurant still closed. Ordered through Uber Eats but note they will not let deliveries go to your room/door so you have to go to the lobby to pick up. Pool and Gym open and clean.
