I wish I had more time at this Courtyard Marriott. But alas, I had to head back home and the end of my vacation. First order of business: the hotel is visually stunning for the price bracket. Upon entering the first floor, you will find the hotel lounges and mini restaurant, which offers various menu items and also beer and wine. The Bistro also sells Starbucks coffee. *Note: The hotel is smoke-free and has adopted a number of sustainability practices to drive down utility costs. Bonus! Also, the hotel does not allow pets, but I'll help you find accommodations for your pet if you need. Toward the back is the small business Center, which is simply a couple of desktop computers and printers. They do offer another computer for printing boarding tickets, which is pretty sweet. There's even a little enclave -- balled The Market -- for purchasing items for your room. Chips, crackers, protein bars and even bottles of wine. The hotel also has an outdoor swimming pool that is just over 5 feet deep. The Jacuzzi is kept indoors just off the swimming pool area. By the way, the swimming pool is enclosed by a gate and located near a community area where there is a barbecue pit. Also pretty sweet. I love that its Jacuzzi is indoors. As it is heated pretty well and kept to adequate levels. Exercise room is underwhelming. There are a couple of exercise machines and some free weights, but that's about all. The fitness center is open 24 hours and the pool is open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Now to the room. We went to the king suite with a whirlpool tub. There's also a standard tub in the bathroom. Find instructions for the whirlpool, but it was absolutely wonderful to have. The room, which has a modern feel with lovely accents throughout, came equipped with the essentials: a pullout desk for working, a microwave, a coffee maker and the tiniest refrigerator I've seen in a hotel. Hands-down. A safe deposit box is also offered. Other reviewers are right on: the walls are way too thin. Even the floors! I found myself at times lowering my voice and tiptoeing around, worried that my neighbors could hear everything. That is a huge blow for this lovely hotel. And, interestingly, the bed wasn't as comfortable as expected. The mattress is very plush and lovely, but the bedding could use an upgrade. Staff was very cordial and helpful, though I'm not sure why when we had a noon check out we got a knock at the door around 9 for room service. That makes zero sense. Be sure to remember to put up your do to not disturb sign. The hotel also offers dry cleaning and guest laundry. The more I think about it, the more it seems the hotel caters overwhelmingly to people who are in town on business, and less so to vacationers and interstate travelers. I'm not sure if I will stay here again. There are a lot more reasonably priced hotels in the area. A lot more. Perhaps if I were able to take advantage of the swimming and the barbecue pit and the lounging all together in one visit, it would've made it more worthwhile. But at the price, I felt like I was paying more for wallpaper appeal than anything else.

Dining area. Empty due to Covid

Under the conditions of this Covid sweeping the world The employees here have done the best that they can under the circumstances. Since Covid, they can no longer have regular food and dinners served they do not offer bathrobes, they do not offer a lot of services. I was pleasantly surprised to stay here though. The room was very clean, bathtub was very clean, shower everything. The people working here under these extraordinary circumstances are doing the best they possibly can. Working on less than a skeleton crew. The bed is so comfortable, the lighting is much more pleasant than someplace else I had stayed recently. I like that the Marriott seems to be making a better impression than Hilton or any other hotel in the area. I would recommend this hotel but don't except swimming pools and other basic perks, due to Covid this has ruined businesses and basic policies that you would find anywhere. But for a very clean room and a very comfortable bed, go to the courtyard, Marriott. Get a nights sleep.

While reading the reviews, I kept wondering why only 3 stars for a standard Courtyard stay??? Upon arrival, the large entrance with structural details was impressive. The customer service was good. The lobby area and Bistro appeared to be updated. The pool area has all the updated lawn furniture and nicely landscaped. However, the room had highs and lows. The high point is that the room has a microwave. The mattresses needs to be replaced, as soon as possible and maybe even burned... They are not standard Courtyard quality!!! Low, hard, and very uncomfortable... The duvet is as thin as the sheet. The furniture in the room could also use an upgrade! This would explain why they only have a 3 star rating...

    Updated lobby.

According to Swarm (Four Square) it's been over 4 years since I've stayed here. This is an older hotel, but the lobby has been remodeled and includes a "Bistro" set-up. My room had also been made over, including a microwave & refrigerator. The bar offered some of the cheapest "Hotel Beer" that I've ever seen, $4.00 a bottle. I'm guessing my 50% tip made the second bottle a bit cheaper. Located right next to I-95 and every restaurant imaginable I'll be back.

Great... the freeway and a Waffle House for a view...

I have been a loyal Marriott customer for over 20 years now; whether for pleasure or business, I always make the Marriott choice for my stays, due to a high level of consistency and comfort that span all of the different locations and types. Unfortunately, on a recent official-business trip to this lovely Brunswick, GA location, my loyalty was directly challenged. Upon my arrival at about 6pm, I was greeted by a kind woman, who thanked me for my Rewards membership and granted me a free breakfast. The lobby area looked great, and... So far so good, right? Oh boy, was I in for a surprise. I have no other way to put this- This is simply the dirtiest, most unkempt Marriott location I have EVER been to. The elevator doors were carved with graffiti (extensively, I might add), the carpets were old and musty, and the floors on the 3rd floor creaked as if water-damaged. My room wasn't much of an improvement. The bed was bowed in the middle, and quite old, the stained curtains didn't close completely, and the bathroom was filthy. The tile grout needed cleaning, the shower curtain had mold specks and the water fixtures were badly faded and water spotted. There was no anti-slip mat in the shower, and the shower walls were peeling paint. My television received a grand total of 18 channels, most fuzzy and analog, and my remote did not function. The heater / AC unit was spotty at best, and worked the way you would expect a wall-unit (exactly- How many Marriotts have your been to with window/wall AC units?) to- Not very well. Feeling thirsty, and not wanting to drink the rather odd-smelling water in the room, I ventured downstairs at approximately 9:00 PM to buy some water, only to find the remaining staff eating together, in the lounge area. An attempt to buy myself a beer on top of my waters resulted in a rather bland older woman simply gesturing with her finger, to a sign that stated "the State of Georgia has revoked this location's liquor license". ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This was simply unacceptable. I'm sure my kind reader's first question will be, "did you approach a member of the management regarding these issues?". To that, I would respond with my greatest concern yet; while a copy of my bill WAS efficiently slid under my door in the early morning, upon my check-out I literally could not find a soul in the lobby area. I'm not kidding- The phone was ringing off the hook, the snack and register area was completely unmanned, and after 5 minutes I gave up and sauntered off to my rental car, feeling like I had just been on Candid Camera or a particularly bad episode of What Would You Do... I am a huge fan of the vision, values and business model of the Marriott organization. I realize that some smaller locations can and will be remodels of previously-branded spots, as well as older locations in need of a remodel. But the Brunswick, GA location is simply reprehensible, as is its staff and focus on customer service. Not recommended.

    Thank you, Cora!

The anchor store is Sally's Cop Shop. There's plenty of free parking. Interior Pretty bare bones, but well lit and clean. The walls are adorned with the many awards won by Chef & Owner David Ouimet. Customer Service / Ease of Ordering Casey (sp?) was our server / cashier. She was warm and welcoming and had extensive knowledge of the menu (which is always appreciated). My lunch buddy was running late, so we chatted for quite a bit before he arrived and by the time I left, I felt like Casey and I were old friends. I sampled the soup-of-the-day during my wait, and it was so delicious that I just had to order a bowl. For some reason (eco? germs?), they don't have a hand-held menu and the writing on the chalkboard, though neat - is a bit 'curly' and condensed - so I struggled to read it. It didn't help that I had a whopper of a headache and was struggling with some neck pain - lol. They take phone orders and online orders via DoorDash, etc. When dining in, you order at the register, server brings food and handles refills, then you pay at register once you've finished dining. Food (see photos) I like that there's a good bit of diversity on the menu. I knew this was a farm-to-table spot so I was expecting a lot of fresh, delicious flavors and they did not disappoint: My lunch companion had the shrimp & grits and he loved the taste so much that he ordered a second entree to to take home for dinner. My lunch buddy also had the Alfredo pasta special with blackened chicken. They're an option for grilled chicken as well. I went with a burger with cheddar cheese added and the the soup-of-the-day (Tom Kha Gai). The soup is typically garnished with cilantro and green onions but I omitted it because I'm in the soapy cilantro camp. My burger was delicious. Cooked to the perfect temperature. Juicy. And super messy because of the black garlic aioli - but worth the mess. Lol. The burger comes with a side of house-made pickles - but I omitted those. My soup (pardon the bad photo) was oh-so-tasty. Lots of chicken and mushrooms. I was so happy about the soup because I was struggling with the side options. I don't like 'dark' potato chips and every housemade chip I'd ever had was dark. I don't love pork rinds and none of the other sides would really pair well with a burger (grits, pasta salad, potato salad, brussells sprouts slaw). Price / Value I think the prices are what one would expect based on this type of fare being served. Overall If I lived in town, this would definitely be a spot I'd hit up weekly for lunch. Amazing food and awesome customer service - what else can you ask for?!

The clubhouse opened in 2009, so it's relatively new. The clubhouse has a modern yet traditional design. Modest, elegant, and spacious. We spent our time at the bar and grill and in the main dining room. Both rooms had expansive views of the golf course. From the holes I saw, the golf course looked very flat with not too many trees. The course was originally designed by Donald Ross. Love Golf Design (Davis Love III's company) restored it in 2007. The bar was small and had a large flatscreen TV playing Golf Channel. The dining room and lobby were large and open. Several staff were on hand to handle our group. I'm bad at estimating numbers of people, but I'd venture to guess we had about 40-50 people at the dinner. Dinner was preceded by light hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. Hors d'oeuvres included various deep-fried seafood concoctions involving shrimp and crab. This was fitting since we were at the Golden Isles of Georgia (barrier islands). The dining room tables were covered in white tablecloth and had a sea island theme with fishing nets and seashells. The dinner consisted of both a seated portion and a buffet portion. During the seated portion, we were served dinner rolls, soup (corn bisque with shrimp), and salad. The self-serve buffet portion contained a Southern smorgasbord of goodies: fried chicken, turkey, collard greens, fried okra, mac and cheese, etc. I loved the regional selection. My personal favorite touch was the bottles of Texas Pete Pepper Sauce next to the collard greens. I love this sauce and it makes most Southern green veggies instantly better with its whole green Tabasco peppers and vinegar. Dessert included peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream. Overall, Brunswick Country Club provided fantastic food and service and a classy ambiance. A great time was had by all.

From the moment I arrived, the cleanliness was absolutely impeccable. The rooms were modern, beautifully maintained, and everything worked flawlessly. As a Hilton Diamond member who travels constantly and stays almost exclusively at Hilton properties across the country, I have high standards -- and this Hampton Inn & Suites met every single one of them. Two things that make or break a hotel stay for me are the HVAC and the shower, and this property nailed both. The HVAC system was whisper-quiet -- a rare and genuine luxury for a light sleeper like me. Most hotels sound like a diesel truck idling in your room when the AC kicks on; here, I slept like a dream every single night. And the shower? Phenomenal. Where most hotels have clogged showerheads and disappointing water pressure, this one delivered what I can only describe as a five-star experience. Absolutely glorious. The staff, however, is what truly sets this property apart. The front desk team, led by the outstanding Kyara, was professional, warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely a pleasure to interact with at every turn. They went above and beyond at every opportunity. The grill's wait staff deserves special recognition. Rickette, our server one evening, was not only incredibly attentive but so charming and funny that she had our whole table in stitches -- genuine, effortless hospitality at its finest. David, another server, was equally impressive -- cool, calm, and exceptionally skilled at his craft. The service from both of them was simply world-class. Don't miss the evening entertainment either -- the live music and bingo nights are a fantastic touch that add real energy and fun to the experience. And the outdoor amenities are lovely; on nice days, the spaces are comfortable and peaceful, perfect for relaxing or getting some work done al fresco. The gym is clean. With free weights and ample cardio equipment. It's better than the gym I pay for back home. This is a property I will return to without hesitation.
