We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles Torrance/Palos Verdes last weekend while celebrating my sister's birthday in Rancho Palos Verdes, and overall it was a solid, convenient choice. The location is definitely a highlight -- it's centrally situated near Del Amo Fashion Center with tons of dining and shopping options close by, and only about a 10-mile drive to Rancho Palos Verdes, which made getting to and from birthday plans super easy. The hotel itself is pretty quiet, which we appreciated. The rooms are average -- nothing particularly special, but clean and comfortable enough for a short stay. The property has a heated pool with lounge chairs and a fire pit, which is a nice touch for relaxing in the evening, although there's no jacuzzi. There's also an on-site restaurant (we didn't get a chance to try it) and a bar where we enjoyed a couple glasses of wine. Service was overall just okay -- nothing standout, but not bad either. We mainly chose this hotel because of the reasonable price, and for what we paid, it delivered exactly what we needed: a convenient, no-frills place to stay for the weekend. Our recent stay at Courtyard Torrance/PV was just ok. We had higher hopes.... I contacted the hotel via the Bonvoy app about early check-in a few days prior. They said they would look into it but never heard from them again. It was odd because they messaged me back so fast initially. It would have been nice to know either way, whether they could accommodate us or not, the morning of our stay. I dont think that's too much to ask. Like i said, we were hopeful. As Silver Elite members, I expected more.... It was either we checked in early or we didnt check in until the evening because we had to be at the beach most of the day for an event. It became the latter.... Also the AC in Room 250 was super loud. Thankfully, that was the only noise we heard throughout the night. The flashing white light from the smoke alarm was annoying. It only became noticeable in the early am hours. And lastly, the kid using the pool at 8am(?) and making all kinds of noise was not the wake-up call I signed up for. I get it, you're a hotel guest but have some consideration... the pool area is surrounded by 3 floors of guest rooms on all sides. I heard stomping in the room above us when all the noise from the pool started so I couldnt have been the only one that had a rude awakening. It was definitely too early for all that. I also asked for extra towels and got none of that. By the time we checked in, we just wanted to shower and find dinner across the street so I didnt bother calling for it as we couldnt hang around and wait for it to be brought up to us. It's the little things... We stay at various Marriott properties each year and it just wasnt as pleasant a stay as other properties. Restaurants and cafes are nearby. King's Hawaiian Bakery & Restaurant are a 10 minute walk across busy Sepulveda Blvd. The road noise on this wide busy street was not an issue. The hotel itself had gated condo/townhome communities on either side. read more

This hotel requires security deposit of $50 at check in payable only by a physical debit or credit card! NO contactless payment such as Apple Pay, NO cash and NO gift card! Beware if you are using prepaid card like PayPal debit card or cash app debit card that deposit will be refunded after more than two weeks! Additionally they falsely advertised some of room amenities on the hotel booking site because there is NO microwave in the room! NO kitchenware! Rooms are NOT soundproof as I could hear heavy stomping of feet from the room above me! Also the balcony/terrace in my room is for decorative purposes as it offers a view of a drab looking private residential apartment complex and is also so narrow you can't even fit a chair! Only positives here are the surrounding neighborhood looks safe! There are seating booths in the lobby with mounted flat screen TVs on each one of them for personalized entertainment! Tried this hotel for the first time and have to say originally it was due to a great price but turns out to be a great Marriott Courtyard The very positives - very easy and FREE parking - great front desk support - friendly and helpful staff throughout stay - very clean both room and interior of hotel - outside well kept And for the cons , can't come up with anything... okay one light was out in the room , but everything else was working well! And as amazed as I am to find free parking anymore also in this room was two full size waters and they didn't have a 6 buck tag on them ... also free. Heck I think will add a pic of them now , that is what it has come too ... getting excited about free water !!! One thing will say , this was a pool side room , meaning right on the pool so need to be okay with a little noise or you might want to ask for something off the pool But again , great Marriott Hotel and will be back soon ... thanks to everyone who made this an enjoyable stay read more

This experience was unacceptable and went far beyond a typical "disappointing stay." The room had a strong, persistent musty/mildew odor that made it difficult to remain inside. The smell was so severe that we had to keep the balcony door open overnight. The beds were also substandard, with thin, extremely soft mattresses positioned very close to the ground, providing little support. More concerning, after we went to sleep and woke up, we discovered that the tap water was cloudy and white. Due to this, my family and I did not shower or wash our hands or faces at all. I immediately contacted the front desk, and the staff confirmed this was not normal. I was told the situation would be corrected and that the manager, Evelyn, would be reaching out. No one followed up. I had to email and call repeatedly, and it took an entire week to receive a response. Ultimately, what was promised was not honored, and when I expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of resolution after such an experience, management stopped responding altogether. This stay raised serious concerns regarding room conditions, sanitation, and accountability. Based on the experience and the lack of follow-through, I would never stay at this property again and would not recommend it to anyone. read more

I stayed here over Easter weekend. I called and spoke to someone to make my reservation and was told they have cribs available. The word crib was used. I get here and there are no cribs, only pack and plays available. Had I known this I would've made different arrangements. It was too late at this point. My son was miserable trying to sleep for 2 nights. On top of this the ice machine that I needed to store his milk was broken. I contacted the help line for a resolution to this. It took them over 8 weeks to get back to me after I reached out multiple times. I was brushed off and told it was a misunderstanding. It wasn't. It was a direct misrepresentation of their amenities. A "crib option" isn't a crib like I was told. They also did not provide me any form of compensation for this situation. I recommend staying at a different hotel that accurately represents their amenities and take customer issues seriously. read more

I thought this hotel was located in a good location. It was close enough to a variety of Japanese and Korean restaurants, so you have many choices to choose from. But it was also far enough away from the main streets which helped make for a more quiet stay. The hotel is also located at an optimal location from the airport where you can just take local roads instead of having to deal with freeway traffic. The hotel rooms were comfortable. The beds were supportive and the rooms had decent insulation to stay quiet. I do think the hotel is starting to show its age a little. The furniture and room decor is definitely feeling a bit outdated. But with a proper renovation, I think this would be an even more inviting location to stay at :) read more

This unfortunately was one of worst hotels I have stayed at in a really long time. I needed a quick place to stay after traveling from the east coast and have happily stayed at Marriott hotels many times in the past. From the second I arrived, the experience was miserable. Instead of a kind welcoming face to be greeted by after my travel, I was greeted by a rude and stern woman first unlocked the front door of the lobby. She refused to check me in until after making me go to the business center to print an unnecessary document since she wouldn't accept the email copy. I asked her if there was a manager and she said "no but I'm the auditor". I was very tired and considered a new hotel at this point, but since it was late I decided to just stay anyway. The room itself was disgusting. As soon I as I entered the room it must've been 80 degrees. There were handprints on the walls in the bathroom, the bathroom door was cracked like someone was trying to break in, and the paint chipped. When I went to take a shower the pipes made a terrible noise and the water barely streamed out. When I tried to speak to the front desk they tried to blame my issues on the availability of rooms they had and also stated the manager was busy. I called back to speak to the manager Mario and they said he was busy again and would call me back. I never received a call back and they over charged me! I finally got ahold of the manager Mario by calling again and he was working the front desk. He was kind and realized my experience was definitely not up to par for a Marriott hotel. He said he would fix this for me. He never got back to me again. I've never had such a miserable experience before and will definitely not be returning. Anyone that's thinking of a hotel to stay at for the night. Skip this one, it's not worth the frustration and disappointment. read more

Worst hotel I've ever stayed at. We checked out early (less than 24 hours after check in) because the room was so disgusting (trash under sofa, food in microwave, water on bathroom floor, ants in bed and sofa, and hair in between mattress and headboard), and fridge was leaking and turning off every 8 hours, spoiling any perishables (including breastmilk) I had stored in there. The worst part was the customer service. Despite staying at the hotel less than 24 hours and enduring numerous, unacceptable issues during our stay, the manager was very cold and unapologetic and charged us for two nights instead of one without notice. On the day of checkout, we were assured by the front desk that we would not be charged for more than one night of stay or a cancellation fee. I have a physical receipt from checkout showing charges for only one night, yet the next day I received a new receipt via email showing charges for two nights. The manager refuses to honor what was agreed upon with the front desk staff or acknowledge any of the issues my family and I experienced during our stay, and therefore, charged me for two nights. She was extremely condescending and indicated that all of my complaints were fabricated in order to save face. Horrible customer service. I will be sure to further spread the word about this abysmal experience. Shame on you, Marriott. read more

My first impression not good. The front desk staff was noisy. This might have to do with their age. And usually I'm thanked for being a loyal Marriott member. Not here. Be that as it may our one night stay was satisfactory. We were up on the the third floor by the elevator but it was very quiet. We took one of two luggage carts from the lobby with our three suitcases and three backpacks. We piled into a very slow moving elevator. We returned the cart when we went down later out to dinner. We made coffee the next morning using the coffee maker in the room. Exactly three coffee pods with three paper cups for three of us. The biggest con - no body wash in the shower. It hasn't been refilled. Of course we didn't realize this until already in the shower. Fortunately we always carry bar soap with us. Plenty of outdoor parking. read more

Stayed here one night with my sister, mom and nephew. The front desk attendant was pleasant she let us check in 15 minutes early. It's a 3 pm check in and noon checkout. We were on the first floor which was convenient and near the pool area. The room wasn't as clean as I'm used to. Hair in the bathroom and in the bathtub like it was half cleaned. The sheets didn't look fresh either my mama made mention she could feel crumbs in the bed and they were wrinkled as if someone had already slept on them. I like the location, next to the Del Amo mall and lots of selections of restaurants in the surrounding area. I'm a member so I expect top notch this location was okay. Needs so more TLC added to cleaning the rooms. read more

This location is in the heart of Torrance. Very convenient and close to the mall/restaurants/park. I booked through an app so it was a breeze to check in and out. The room is spacious and newly renovated. We got a King size bed with a pull out sofa (very comfortable beds)...Perfect for the 3 of us. There's a ton of USB chargers in every corner of the roo There's plenty of parking (not covered) which is conveniently right outside our room. We had a room on the second floor so the elevator was located right by the entrance. It's also very quiet. No noise from the street even though the hotel is located on the Main Street. I remembered staying here some years back but didn't realize it when I booked. This visit I was here for a week and wanted a location closer to the airport. Added bonuses were a mall and some restaurants close by (I.e Kings Hawaiian). Only 15 -20 minutes to Redondo, Hermosa & Manhattan beaches. Interesting layout with elevators located on both sides vs in the front. Nice balance if you park on the side of building. They have a limited bistro that has coffee, snacks, breakfast & dinner options. Small but full bar that is open from 5-9 pm. Pool is open from 9-7 pm and heated (81 degrees). It is a nice space with an outside lounge area that has a fire pit. Although I didn't get a swim in as I got back later. Fitness room is adequate with various cardio machines and dumbbells. The Elkay water refill station was a nice touch. I checked in late my first night and all of the 3rd/top floor rooms were gone and they offered to move me the next day which worked better. I hadn't entered my Rewards number when I booked and of course that makes a difference. My double Queen bed room was clean and a good size with a mini fridge. Not much difference between 1st and 3rd floor (except 3rd floor room shower had pressure) given usually the higher you are the better the rooms. Upper floor rooms had a deck. There was a musty smell coming out of the AC unit which they addressed but unfortunately it was back a couple of days after. Overall, service was very good with friendly people at the front desk and throughout which I've found to be consistent with Marriott . I would stay here again. read more

Will stay again! 1. Free parking and easy to find a spot closer to hotel side entrance that is close to the elevator. 2. We prepaid for breakfast and the food was good. Great selections. We had dinner there too. the Burger and fries were delicious. Great service. 3. Our room was close to the parking lot on the top floor so it was quiet. 4. There was a pool and firepit but we didn't use it. 5. Our room is very clean. We later learned it was prepared by a staff they just hired. Good job! 6. There is no microwave oven in the room but you can come down to next to front desk to use the public one. There is a fridge in the room. 7. The wifi is MEH but we just ended up using cellphone as tethering. 8. The lobby area was nice , we came down a few times to kick it. 9. We also used their iMac to play some kids online games. 10. Didn't check out their fitness center. 11. There are restaurants right across that we didn't have to travel far. 12. The area seems quiet except the street is a boulevard so expect traffic and fast speed car once you exit the hotel. We stayed at Courtyard Hawthorne last year and compared with this one , the free parking and the less hectic lobby and surrounding area gave us a pleasant stay. read more

We visited Torrance before and thought we were getting the same Marriott Courtyard, but this was a different location, and it was so much nicer! From the property, location, parking, staff, and accommodations, everything was much better. The room was spacious and clean, and the double desk served as a dining table. The bathroom was huge and the beds were comfy.We looked out of the window and discovered we had a balcony! No furniture, but a balcony nonetheless. On our 1st night, my BF dropped this sweater close to our door and the next morning the cleaning lady was kind enough to return it when she realized someone had checked into the room. We were able to park near the side entrance and access our part of the hotel with such ease. The only issues we encountered were the loud work crew doing renovations in the room next door at 7:30am and the lack of microwaves available. My stay was remarkable, from friendly smiling faces to helpful front desk staff - no RBF's here like the one I got in Texas (totally different hotel chain). Next time I stay in the Torrance area, I will definitely book my stay here. I was attending my dear friend's wedding in Rancho Palos Verdes, and they were staying in Redondo Beach at Crowne Plaza. I used my points at this hotel, being the saavy traveler that I am, not that I travel often cuz I don't get out much from SF Bay Area. I just love Marriotts; they know hospitality! My major was hospitality, didn't do well during recession, but life never works out the way you planned. The maids were friendly and accommodating when I needed more towels, except I startled one in the hallway when asking for towels. She jumped and said "mija"! The ladies at the bar were nice, and I got a double shot of Don Julio on BOGO margarita night, which are Saturday nights after 5pm btw. I flew in Saturday evening - score! The outdoor pool had a nice ambiance. It was so warm in November, kids were playing and swimming in the pool. The fire pit is a nice touch to sit outside in SoCal during the Fall season. I couldn't believe how beautiful the weather was, people are wearing parkas in SF, and it's blizzard weather in Maine. Be sure to tell your Lyft drivers (no Uber for me) that it's the Marriott Courtyard on Sepulveda, not the other one. Beds are hella comfortable. I love this area, the nearby mall Del Amo is humongous with lots & lots of parking unlike SF. There's a Din Tai Fung in it. King's Hawaiian is right across the street. Horrible! From check in to checkout the hotel staff ensured our experience was awful! When we checked in - using a friends and family discount - the front desk person instantly became rude to us. We checked in the room, I dropped something behind the bed and noticed a black substance and candy wrapper under bed. We were instantly concerned about the cleanliness of the room. In further looking noticed stains and general lack of cleaning. I called the front desk to inform them. They said pack your stuff and come to the desk. Not ideal when only staying one night and just getting settled. We go to desk and I ask if new room has been cleaned and checked. I was assured it had been. Nope! Second room was also dirty. At this point it is late and we are tired and hotel staff is offering no help or suggestions. We decide to stay and just get up and shower and leave in the morning. Upon getting up in am to shower we notice someone else's hair in the tub! I go to all to front desk and she states there is nothing that can be done because of discount used. BTW the room is around $200 per night with discount which was paid on the card. I ask to talk to manager and she offers me 1000 points. That is about $10! We needed a place to stay that was close enough to the Scuba locations in San Pedro and shore dives in Redondo. This Marriott Courtyard is perfectly located and the staff here has made our current stay beyond welcoming. The room is comfortable and clean with extra towels and a nice pool view. The Bistro is cute and relaxing serving beer, wine and Starbucks! The courtyard has a cozy fire pit and big comfy seating perfect for enjoying a glass of wine and chatting. We check out tomorrow but will for sure save this spot as a go-to when in the Redondo/Long beach area A 5 star over the top for the Courtyard by Marriott! read more

The stay, the staff, the service, the food, the coffee at the bistro and in the room. The amenities; gym, laundry, common area. The room was on the first floor. I was able to come and go with no issue. The common area was amazing. Elevator jazz music played throughout the day. It was calm and relaxing, a perfect place to grab coffee and some bfast and to then get some work done on my laptop; either on a desk or on a cozy, comfy sitting spot. We chose to opt out of housekeeping, but again the staff was so friendly. If we needed to exchange towels or ask for coffee while housekeeping was in the hallway, they did not hesitate to accommodate. Even though times have changed; room prices have gone up and complimentary items have significantly decreased, everything I mentioned above made our stay nothing short of amazing. Service, staff, amenities - incredible. What a joy to stay here!! read more

Stayed here for 3 nights in June of 2023. There was a lot of construction to the exterior, and the entry was rerouted to the side. Self-parking was fine, and the staff was friendly. The place lacks EV charging, which I hope they can add in the near future. The room we had was good - comfy bed, lots of outlets, large TV, large bathroom with ADA-friendly shower. The Internet was fast for most things. Other good amenities I liked were the gym's water dispenser (I wish there was one on every floor) and the microwave by the ice machine. I write this review in disappointment. For the last 4 years my coworkers and I have stayed at this hotel. As the district manager for Volkswagen Porsche Audi. Each and every time I come to this hotel. I arrived here before my co workers to work on our meetings, schedules and reservations for the week. While sitting at the computer ( less than 2 mins later)I was approached by a member from the front desk she asked if I was a guest I explained to her I was waiting for a co workers. " if your not guest you can't use the computers or print, what is your guest name?" Give it a name of my regional director xxxx Cohen. Mind you the reservation had not been completed I was at the computer for less that 2 mins. (Please view your security cameras) she walks away and comes back "sorry she's not on a reservation" ( I knew this because I didn't make the reservations yet). Just before i was going to explain she says " my coworker says you come in every night use the computers and print a lot". Mortified it told her that's absolutely untrue. " you're not a guest so you have to move away from the computer" . (If this is true please Supply me with proof). I relocated to a chair parallel to the computer while sitting here for the last 90 minutes I've seen someone use the computer. Within that time I was able to book the new reservations for Shade Hotel in Redondo Beach. Majority of our meetings are at the Porsche experience in Carson. This hotel is central to the dealers, bank relationships and our meetings with Tesla in Hawthorne. Needless to say no one should be subjected to this type of harassment. Or maybe she stereotyped me for walking in with a black Lululemon jacket and pajama bottoms. After 2 hours of cross fit class in torrnace I shower and put on comfortable clothes before I start work again. Never judge a book by its cover. Marriott what can I say. Pretty standard for Courtyard. A nice and clean place with up to date bedding package. Bed was really comfortable and rooms were very clean. My compliments to housekeepers especially Petra. She was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The front desk agents were also helpful and nice especially when I needed to extend my stay. A couple of agents the day prior told me I had to change my room which I found out later I didn't. Being a rewards member, I was treated good and fair. The restaurant isn't a full service restaurant. It's a snack bar type place that uses panini's press and microwave to heat food. I suggest finding local restaurants prior to stay. The area is clean and safe. One of the best towns to stay in in the LA area. I was highly impressed by how nice the hotel was. This is standard for Marriott standards. I will be back for relaxation since this is a quiet and not too crowded place to stay. I did notice the pool was nice and blue when we arrived, but it was unseasonably hot that day and soon after it turned green. Not too good and they didn't close it down for maintenance to shock it. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I stayed here with a fairly large group of people, but since my family is a loyal marriott client (Titanium Elite) we thought it would be fine. We were wrong. At check in they told everyone that had booked a double queen room that they were "upgraded" to a king and sofa room. Sleeping on a sofa bed is NOT an upgrade. Anyone who thinks that is delusional. We told them that we didn't want a king and sofa bed room but they said that they were fully booked and couldn't do anything about it even though we had these rooms booked at least a month in advance. My room was very small and could barely fit a king + sofa bed and I was super disappointed. We turned on the AC and left for dinner. When we came back our floor was soaking wet around the AC unit. We called to have it fixed and they didn't do anything about it until the next day. They also decided to blame it on us because we weren't supposed to turn the AC unit below 70 degrees. I've stayed in multiple hotels and never had this issue before. The next day I complained again and they finally let us into another room. The WiFi was also terrible. My father needed the WiFi to connect to multiple meetings this weekend and it never worked. Thank God he had his WiFi jet pack or else he would've missed all those important meetings. The hallways always had the strangest smells. Sometimes it smelled like chemicals and other times is smelled musky and dirty. They definitely need to make sure that everything is clean. Lastly, the staff. The staff was incredibly rude to everyone in my group. From the barista at the Starbucks to the front desk people, they were all rude and gave a bad attitude. This is not how I know Marriott to be. I hope that moving forward someone teaches these employees about customer service. I definitely won't be returning or referring my friends here. read more

It was Halloween. My daughter was having a party at the house, so my bf and I stayed here for the night. Even though it's located on Sepulveda, which is a busy street, our unit faced the courtyard. It was surprisingly quiet, and I had a restful night. The lobby has a few snack items, but I suggest that you purchase them elsewhere. I picked up two small bags of chips and a Cliff bar for $10+. There's a full bar, swimming pool and a restaurant on site. Parking is free. The Courtyard is a bit dated with popcorn ceiling and window air conditioning unit. For a few extra dollars, we could have stayed at Miyako Hybrid, which is state of the art hotel with attention to details. read more

This Courtyard Marriott has had intermittent working WiFi throughout my stay. When I say intermittent that means 90% of the time there has been zero connection. At best there has been 10% of the time I or the other 2 people in my party with 3 different devices could get a signal. We can't even get their Courtyard Guest to appear as an available option. We called the front desk to ask what the problem was. The front desk said they would look into the issue. Approximately 10 minutes later a person not affiliated with the hotel called our room and said the only way they could help us would be for us to provide him with our I.P. addresses. I asked if he was an employee of the Courtyard Marriott and he said he wasn't. We declined to offer our I.P. address. Is this how Marriott Corporation wants to do business ? read more

I have been staying at this hotel every month for over 8 years. The staff is always fantastic and the hotel is very nice. This trip everyone went above and beyond! I broke my foot and they would bring me ice everyday. When I checked out they wheeled my luggage down to the lobby. They then pushed me to the front door and called transportation for me to travel to the airport. Everyone was so very kind and made it possible for me to begin to recover before my long journey home. As I reviewed before that I go this Courtyard by Marriott regularly. We love it because the rooms are clean and the staff are friendly. The Front Staff, Karen, is the best. She remembers us when we walk in to check-in. She notices that I check-in by mobile and makes sure we get a room on the upper floors. Also, we always request an early room clean-up because we finish our errands and spend the afternoon in the room. So, Karen recommended that we get a 10 am clean so the room will be ready by noon when we return. So helpful. If we are lucky, we can get Maria, cleaning staff, and she remembers us. We feel like family when we go there. read more

Management Is disgustingly rude. Manager on duty refused to give me her name and walked away, she let me know if I needed help I could wait for the next manager Dolores, and walked away. The two ladies upfront were polite (one was training) and tried to help me as much as possible. I was trying extremely hard to be calm and collective but this woman was trying me. I do not recommend staying here. Customer service is nonexistent at management level. This is a corporate Marriott .. SHAMEFUL!! read more

I love the Marriott. I would always opt for it over any other. Usually.... Okay the beds and rooms are fine and after trying to get closer in location to my daughter who has lived in West Hollywood and now H-E-L-P!!!! Hollywood.... I totally love that parking is FREE if any of you are from the LA area you will totally "get" what I mean!!! The fact that they HAVE parking is a plus!! So we were there for our anniversary and to see our daughter in a play at her conservatory. Being from Palos Verdes and home for a visit and wanting to be close to our friends in Redondo... we opted to stay here. I thought that it would be nice to add on the breakfast package so that we could save time and then meet our friends so booked breakfast for both mornings we would be there. Being our anniversary we took our time getting up...it was a Friday and breakfast was served till 10AM. We got there around 9:25AM and the food was all cleared away. The buffet attendant saw us and didn't say a word. So I went to the front desk and the guy was very nice and sympathetic and offered to refund us our amount. Gee thanks but this totally ruined our plans... So I canceled both breakfasts and he refunded us the amount and we ended up just having brunch with our friends. But we walked away from the front desk deciding that we both would have handled it differently. I would have offered the next day's breakfast for free or at the very least offered orange juice and a muffin to tide us over. We wouldn't have accepted but the gesture would have been appreciated! The hotel is fine but it seems like the last visit we had... there was something up with the breakfast there. And the customer service is not overly sympathetic when problems arise. I wonder what happened to above and beyond customer service! I mean with the state our economy is in, it's customers that pay the rent. All in all.... the place is fine... with the breakfast off our tab... It was $94 a night with AAA. Not bad at all when the same hotel in Hollywood would be twice that much with parking added to that... I will stay there again! I just hope that a Manager there becomes a little more pro active and gives a class 101 in Hospitality to the front desk but even more to the gals in charge of the buffets! read more
