My family stayed here during the Thanksgiving weekend. Between all of us we had 8 rooms. Except for the comfort of the bed (which was actually pretty small) I was disappointed with everything else at this hotel. The hotel is short staffed due to Covid. They admit that when they send you a welcome e-mail. Due to this they will only clean your room on every 3rd day of your stay. I do understand this can be an issue and I am ok with this but some of my family members want their beds made and the bathroom wiped down after using it. If I am going to a hotel I would appreciate my bathroom sink cleaned off. I shouldn't have to clean it myself. One thing that really irked me was when I was about to get in the shower I realized that they did not give me a separate bar of soap for the shower. I noticed this at 6:30 in the morning. We were told at check-in that if we needed anything we can ask at the front desk for it. I expected to find a bar of soap in the shower (which I have found at every other hotel) so why would I think to ask for it when I was checking in. I ended up using the bar of soap from the sink for my shower since I was not about to get dressed at 6:30 am to go get another bar of soap. I asked my other family members and they all said the same thing. They only received 1 bar of soap. When I spoke to a staff member about this they blamed it on Covid. They said that they did not have enough staff to clean rooms so this was the reason. Covid is not an excuse for this. I find it more that the hotel is just being cheap which is very disappointing for a Marriott. Another issue was the temperature of the room. We were only able to set the temperature to 64 or 74 degrees. I tried setting it to 68 and wasn't able to. I spoke to a few other family members and this was the same for them. I had to decide whether I wanted to be hot or cold when I slept. I couldn't be completely comfortable. Apparently this was due to covid too. Not enough staff. Other issues were the sinks get stopped up when using them. Again this happened to several of us. Also, each room gets 1 garbage pail and a recycling bin. The garbage does not have a bag in it. When you do not have house keeping cleaning your room for 3 days the garbage gets pretty full. I don't know what it would be like for people who have children in diapers. At least put plastic bags in the garbage pail so a person can tie it up and leave it outside of their room. Covid is not an excuse for everything. It sounds more as if this hotel is trying to cut costs. The most annoying thing is that after I checked out with my daughter we each noticed that we were both charged $70 extra on our charge cards. The receipts that were emailed to both of us had the price of the 3 rooms on it. Our credit card statements said something else. When I called about this we were told that they charged a $20 incidental fee per night which would be reimbursed 3-4 days later (could be up to 5 days if you used a debit card). We were told we signed a contract for this at the beginning of our stay. When I checked in I was asked to sign authorizing the charge of the room to my credit card but they never mentioned anything about incidentals being charged extra. They have my credit card number on file already. If any incidentals show up they can charge me then. This I find is more of a way for the hotel to make money. It is also very dishonest.I have stayed at many hotels and have never been charged this bogus fee. After this stay I would question whether I would even want to stay at a Marriott again. The chain is usually a very respected brand but I question now is this the way others are being run. I know I definitely would not stay at this one again nor recommend it. read more

As for overnight stays, the rooms are suitable and of good value, what you expect from a Courtyard. Meeting Rooms - Conferences (negative review) However, the reason why this locations receives 3 stars and not 4, is because while holding a conference in one of the meeting rooms, the coordinators booked a choir band next door to our room. Very loud, not a good sound barrier for typical conversation and definitely the worst case scenario when the band started the play. Better coordination may be needed and consideration of meetings ongoing, however this negative review only pertains to considering this location for meeting space. Yes, they were accomodating and understanding when the team complained however something should have been done proactively. read more

I'd stay here again in a second. The front desk folks were great and rooms are sparkling. We had a problem with the coffee maker and a staff member brought one upwithin 10 minutes and walked us through it. It's a simple process, but the attention to customer.er care was apparent. Their business center needs some updating, tho. Printer doesn't print in color and wifi was a little slow. Those aren't things that would keep me from returning, though! There are tons of options if you need something printed in color. All the things we needed in hotel were there. I'm big on customer care too, and they've got it down pat. read more

I stay at this location A LOT. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean. Last time I was here, though, there were the pitter patter of little feet on the ceiling. Not too big a deal, since I didn't wake up with a furry friend in bed with me, but they were there. The bar area is nice and, if you travel, it's a great place to just hang out and socialize for a bit of time with others visiting the area. I've heard so many great stories. The one downside? The food is pretty overpriced for what it is. Has more to do with the area and rhe fact it's hotel food, but still. Paddy O'Brien right next door has more reasonably priced food and there are a lot of options across International at the two malls, so not a real big deal. read more

Why oh why did I need to ever leave the super comfy Courtyard bed with its thread count higher than my monthly salary, approximately 15 pillows and area the size of a small country? The staff was efficient and pleasant (even though we checked in well after midnight). The room was decorated beautifully, save for the fact that the ceiling in the bathroom (and as such the shower head) was very low. I blame some sort of ventilation system but it was still a bit odd. The accessibility was top notch and there were plenty of parking spaces available right by the door. We pricelined our room so I can't say much about the rate but I certainly can say that I enjoyed my stay a heck of a lot more than I would have liked sleeping on our host's pullout couch! read more

This hotel not kid friendly. Stayed here for a soccer tournament, said had indoor pool. Yeah next door in the Crown Plaza, which you had to walk out of the hotel, go through the main road that Tour buses are traveling, through the Crown main lobby, ask permission to use their pool. Real great for kids! This is not a big deal, but is false advertising, said parking was $7 a night, when checking in said that it was $10 a night. Have never had back problems before until I slept in their beds. Woke up many times with my lower back hurting. Would be a good hotel For business travel. Very clean and quiet. I stayed here with my boyfriend on a Saturday, Sunday, and we left Monday morning. We stayed to celebrate Valentines day. When we arrived the staff didn't ask for a ID. Only a name and credit card. This was to cover incidentals. The fee was exactly $40 and refunded at the end of our stay. This hotel was very clean. We booked a room with king size bed on a higher level room. The "view" was okay. The view was of buildings. Which didn't bother me. This hotel is very close to Tyson's Corner mall. However, we took the hotel shuttle because it was cold and we were lazy lol. The shuttle arrived quickly (5 min wait). All we had to do was go to the lobby and tell the staff member in the lobby that you wanted the shuttle. The staff members were very friendly ! My only complaint was the pool. If guest wanted to swim in the pool you had to walk over to the other connecting hotel. It isn't far at all, only a 2 minute walk. We didn't swim in the pool because as soon as we walked in the pool room it smelled like a BOTTLE OF BLEACH. As if to clean the pool, the staff poured endless chlorine in it. Other than that, our stay was LOVELY. I would most definitely go back. Our entire stay only costed $156. read more

The rooms & beds are standard for the Marriott and the pillows are fluffy and comfy. I wish they had the free breakfast thing, but the don't. Great hotel, wonderful experience, everything was perfect. EXCEPT..... When I walked into the room, I noticed a hint of cigarette smoke. Didn't think much of it, it wasn't strong enough to request a room change. Should have. Days later, I was charged with $250 smoking fee. It's absolutely ridiculous, I did not smoke in the room. This hotel sits perched on the corner of Chain Bridge Rd and International Dr. Seems like it would be a no-brainer to get to... Good luck trying to get to it. Concentric circles of wrap around ridiculousness and God help you if you miss the subtle turn to lead you to the hotel. Cant get there from here. Crazy. The one way frontage road in front of the property is totally useless. Couldn't get connected to Wi-Fi via air or cable. Limited access is the message that results in email not reaching its destination. Very frustrating. Not a fan and wont stay here again. Premium price with limited availability. Dusty smelling room with poor air quality. The AC/ heating unit was so noisy and squeaky that I had to turn it off in order to sleep. Bathroom tile and tub are old and outdated. Pillows and mattress are worn out and uncomfortable. Vanity sink has extremely dim lighting. Carpet is stained. I received a note under the door that all water would be completely cut off for 2 hours starting at 9:30am the following morning due to a maintenance issue. Anytime you stay in this area, you must anticipate gridlock traffic and road construction. It has been that way for years and is only getting worse. The only positive thing is price and close proximity to my company's headquarters, however I regret that I didn't spend a little more to stay in a better hotel. read more

Stayed here in October for a night. The room with the king sized bed is perfect for one/two people! Nice location/great price/helpful staff. It is also nice for those who do not smoke. The whole building is smoke free. Everything was nice and clean. Some hotels seems a little drab and yucky but this one doesn't give off that vibe at all. The floor in our bathroom is sticky. The whole carpet is sticky. Don't go barefoot. The entire hallway on our floor, eighth, smelt terrible. It was coming from all the air vents. It smelt like the ice machine leaked everywhere, and was left to rot. We came in our room it was clean but 1 shampoo and 1 conditioner for 4 people? Our tv is tilted, and can't be straightened. The Starbucks in the hotel isn't even a normal Starbucks. They have their coffee, that's it. The other condiments aren't sold there. None of their pastries, cake pops etc. Wished for dessert in our hotel and the "bistro" doesn't sell 1 dessert but a packaged cookie? I'm disappointed. This hotel worked for what we needed... and that was somewhere to sleep. read more

I always stay at this hotel when visiting the Tysons Corner,VA area. From the time I check in to check out it's always positive and a pleasant stay. This time the staff went beyond and I wanted to personally thank them for last night. I was sick with an upset stomach and needed some crackers or bread. They didn't have any on hand but they sent out their shuttle driver to CVS to get me some saltines and a bottle of Fiji water, they didn't need to but very thankful they did. So my daughter has an interview at George Washington University on October 5th. She incorrectly chose this location instead of the Arlington location which is closest to the campus because we live in Florida and unfamiliar with the area. Could not believe Manager Never Made a Mistake Ever Nicole refused to refund the room money to a college student???? Now my daughter has 2 confirmed reservations at 2 different locations the same night (shaking my head)... are finances more dire for the Marriott than for a college student??? Wow!! If you are not planning to rent a car, and simply take a taxi, plan on waiting around in the lobby for at least 30 minutes. The lobby staff has no attention to detail. When I asked for help to get a cab, they requested one, but when it arrived they carelessly gave it to a lady who hadn't even ordered one and then kept me waiting for it even though it had already left. I recommend staying at a better hotel where there is a line of taxis waiting near the entrance. read more

Checkd in today (friday) with a friends and family rate for $59. Supervisor asked me for a $250 incidental deposit to hold for 3-5 business days as he said its their hotel policy. Think that was reasonable? I dont think so, so I cancelled and moved to Sheraton Premier due to dissapointment. read more

This is always my go to everyone I'm coming for vacation in DC , it's never super expensive, the beds feel like I'm floating on pillows . Never have I ever had an issue with cleanliness, the staff all the way down to housekeepers are wonderful . I love the Tyson's corner area & the fact that we have two malls in walking distance is the best because we don't have to drive into the city to go shopping . The only issue we had during this stay was the toilet literally flooded the entire bathroom and out in the hall as well as the closet . I'm not sure if that was an ongoing problem in that room it must have been because nobody was even using the toilet at the time there was atleast 4 inches of standing water in the bathroom rushing out soaking the carpet . ( I cannot make this stuff up ) however we called front desk and had maintenance come up suck the water out the carpet & provide us with a new room immediately. Other than that mishap I had an excellent stay & will always choose to stay here ! read more

This hotel probably would get a better review on a different day but this time wasn't that great. The check in line moved quickly but it took them forever to find a room for me once I did check in. I understand that the hotel was booked but if I'm checking in after 5, I expect the room to be ready. Finally get to my room and the key wasn't activated so I had to drag my stuff all the way back to the front desk. Also, the 3rd floor smelled like chlorine. What I can say is everyone was nice and the shuttle was very on time and convenient. read more

The hotel was nice, no early check ins. Room was very clean but small. O'Malleys was a great pub, good food and great atmosphere. Convenient to malls and shopping. Would rate higher but we had a lot of problems getting our room keys to work properly. I think our latch has issues. We had an overall nice stay, but with some definite misses. We drove 20 mins down the road for a weekend stay with our 1 year old son in a hot tub room. Just something fun to do to switch up our weekend routine. We got a room on the highest floor so the view was super cool, it was raining so we felt like we were in the clouds. The room itself was dated but I think I saw a sign saying renovations were soon to come so that's good. My issues with this place begun when we noticed the hot tub had some sort of black fingernail size things were coming out from somewhere. At first, I thought it was debris from getting in and out of the tub. We eventually realized that they were coming from the filter, ew. I was pretty disgusted bc they even looked like little bugs or something but they weren't. I called about it in the morning as we were all getting ready for bed anyway... my little one had been in and out of the tub so of course I was bit worried about infections from whatever that stuff was. I called down and let the front desk person know that we were using the tub, but that I definitely wanted it looked at soon and before we checked out (so we knew what it was). Nobody ever came up and I mentioned it to the front desk guy and he seemed to get defensive and said "you said you were going to call back to let us know when to come back up." This didn't sit well with me bc it was a bold-faced lie. Not once did I say that... he went on to half ass apologize for the hot tub and that was that. My hope is that the tubs are thoroughly cleaned between guests; however, how did they not notice this nasty crap spewing out of the filter? And the front desk guy's reply was just not professional, like total disconcern... We probably will not go back here again. read more

Good: Rooms are good size and clean The bistro on 2nd floor is very handy for Starbucks and food. The bistro food isn't fancy but decent and consistent Julie runs the bistro/bar in the evenings.. She is AWESOME and was very accommodating to our group. Proximity to the Tyson Malls is excellent There is a new transit station across the street that will open soon... Direct access downtown.. Yay! Bad: Bed was hard AC should be running for your arrival, my room was roasting The late night front desk person was rude Overall this is a solid hotel, great for business travel and a reasonable price. read more

Very disappointed. Not even close to Marriott standards. Bathroom floor was sticky, had to put towels down to avoid the gunk (too tired to change room). Bathroom itself, oldest I've seen @ a Marriott property in a decade. Terrible fixtures, just bad. Layout of my King Suite was bad. I am guessing this may have been another franchise at one time because it sure didn't say Marriott to me. The AirCon was horrific. It was hot in my 9th floor room despite it only being in the 80s outside. The noise, woke me up al night every hour, clunky loud and visibly old. Only stayed here because I had other team members in the hotel, I usually stay at the proper Marriott up the road. Big mistake, the team shared my disappointment with the air conditioners as well. At least I won't make that mistake again. read more

I had a nice stay here. Clean room, friendly staff, free breakfast, and free basic wifi. They are located across the street from one mall and two blocks from another. The only downside is their shuttle does not pick up or drop off at Reagan National Airport. But they kindly called a taxi for me. They are also a ten minute walk to the Tyson's Corner Silverline Metro stop. Overall, a good experience. read more

Great hotel with excellent amenities and location. We recently spent the weekend here while visiting sites throughout the Washington DC area. Nothing but positive things to say about this hotel, situated perfectly in Tysons Corner. The location was practically perfect for us. There is a brand new Metro station (Tysons Corner - Silver Line) directly across the street. However there is no safe way for pedestrians to travel from the hotel to the station, due to the large multi-lane roads surrounding the property. We simply drove across and parked in the mall next to the Metro station. Also across the street is the Tysons Corner Mall and Galleria, with excellent shopping and dining choices. The hotel also lies at the intersection of some major roadways and local highways too. This makes it a perfect starting point for exploring sites throughout the area, whether in downtown DC or in the Virginia/Maryland countryside. Rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. The breakfast buffet, included in our reservation was excellent. It's a lot more than your typical "Breakfast Buffet included" choices. Excellent variety of food, both hot and cold, including made-to-order omelettes. Every staff member we met was friendly and attentive, even allowing us to check-in early without hesitation. I had to stay here multiple times for work. One day, I left a few rings in a cup and when I came back one was missing. The hotel just kept claiming that I had "lost" it which I did not. If you stay, just make sure that you hide your valuables. Otherwise my stay was fine. read more

I checked in at 2am from Black Friday shopping. Needed a bed for the night so I can wake up early near the shopping centers. Checked in and literally went to bed. Woke up and checked out by 11am. Looked at my bank account a couple days later and saw that this hotel charged me a $200 smoking fee! IMPORTANT FACT ABOUT ME... i do not smoke. My father died from smoking related issues. If you check in late in the night, do not go to sleep right away. check your room or they will find opportunities to overcharge you. This hotel is a CROOK! This hotel is a THIEF! read more

We had an event here and could not have been more disappointed. The dance floor came apart and was not properly assembled. The lady at the time who was in charge of the event for Courtyard was very unprofessional. Two of her bartenders didn't show up to an event which had close to 100 people - we had paid for open bar on top of a large room block. At one point she had the guests get into a single file line in the room leading to the bar because she was behind the bar helping the one bartender (who did her best to handle the crowd). I guess she was wearing heels and got uncomfortable because the lady representing Courtyard was behind the bar without shoes on and was walking around the hotel without shoes.
