Dropped by Cous Cous Cafe for dinner this evening. We hadn't been there since before covid started so we were very excited. My wife ordered the Gyros, and I got the mixed kabobs with a side of grape leaves. The mixed grilled kabobs featured lamb, beef, & chicken. Each one was moist and jucy. Served with a tasty rice and side salad. The Gyros was enormous and super flavorful. Our stuff grape leaves added a pop to the main course. Nothing has changed, the quality and taste are still as great as ever. Topped off the meal with desserts. We split a almond cake & a Napoleon. Just delicious. The service was top notch and fast. We will be heading back as soon we gather a bunch of our friends to introduce them to the Cous Cous experience. read more

I really liked this restaurant. The food is scrumptious and they were so accommodating regarding my being a vegan. I got one of the soups - Harira - which is a tomato based soup with noodles and chickpeas and a delightful flavor that is both delicate and robust. The grape leaves were excellent also. My friend got the vegetarian plate, which is your choice of 3 salads. She got the hummus, the felafel and the eggplant. I sampled all of them and they were all excellent. I also had their tea, which is delightful. We shared a piece of the baklava and I liked it more than usual, because the sweetness wasn't overwhelming the taste of the ingredients. They have local artwork on the wall for sale. There is one picture I really want. The best falafels & taziki in the city. Both are homeade according to moroccan family traditions. unlike most mediterranean places where it is obvious they ordered large quantities of taziki from a supplier or bought their falafels pre cooked & frozen- this place is not like that. get the falafel hummus & grape leaves with a side of gyro meat! you wont be disappointed Only downside is the inside is a bit grungy and the aesthetic is not a focus of the owners, food is a 5 star and vibe is a 3 star!!! if vibe was maintained with the aesthetic would be 5 star. read more

I'm going to start this with, I have loved this restaurant for years. My best friend and I have frequent lunches here all the time. That said, a couple weeks ago I went with my partner after talking up the quality of the food to him. I left quite embarrasses of my recommendation because it was the worst experience I've ever had there. The staff took forever to take our orders and then completely forgot one of the dishes I ordered. When I asked him where it was he said "let me check" and went and rang it in and ran to the back to ask the cook to make it. When it came out several minutes later he apologized for the delay, stating that their system had messed up. We are all human and make mistakes so whatever, I got my food and moved on... until I bit into the chicken on my mixed grill and it was RAW. Needless to say, we were less than impressed and it will probably be a while before we go back. read more

This is my favorite Mediterranean restoto be quite honest. We have a lot of options, but Cous Cous not only has Moroccan fare, they also have a plentitude of desserts!! I didn't enjoy the Almond cake this visit only because I was already so full from dinner. So many of my reviews these days begin with an all to familiar refrain: "With so many new restaurants to try, I find it harder and harder to get to old favorites." Such is the case with Cous Cous Cafe. I was introduced to C3 by a good friend, Ryan Bates. Ryan happens to be a vegetarian. This being Oklahoma, and me being an avowed non-vegetarian, it wasn't always easy to find restaurants whose vegetarian options were more than a salad. I appreciate Ryan for many reasons, but leading me to Cous Cous Cafe is right up there toward the top. I've tried several items from the menu, and have been consistently pleased with them all. From falafels and salads to their wonderful tagines, every dish has been a treat. I wasn't terribly hungry today, so I went with a lamb sandwich, a side of hummus and Moroccan tea. The lamb sandwich is served in a pita, just as they serve their gyros, shawarma and falafel sandwiches. The cubes of lamb breast were tender and plentiful, though the open end features a bit more meat than the wrapped end. The lamb was mildly flavored. It was very good, but not something that is going to wow or offend. It comes with a tzatziki that is smooth and wonderful. The hummus looks grainier than it tastes, and hits all the right notes for good hummus. I like that they give you plenty of pita triangles, and love that it's perfectly toasted in a way that retains its softness, yet gives the slightest amount of crunch. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the Moroccan tea. Today's wasn't quite as minty as I've had at other times, but was nonetheless pleasing. I dream of this tea, and am only disappointed that I opted for the small instead of the large. It's a great place to come for their desserts and tea. read more

I... still like this place... Sort of? At one point, I was eating here on a weekly basis, but lately it's just... not that impressive. I keep meaning to take pictures to prove my point, but I don't so... I guess you'll have to take my word for it. They're getting very chintzy about everything. It's almost starting to feel like they're in the back counting out pieces of meat for your meal. The burritos were my most frequent fix for lunch, but they seem to be taking a page from Chipotle lately because the burritos are overloaded with rice, with little to no hummus, and then you have the strategically placed pieces of meat that leave you feeling lucky if you get at least one in every bite. "Maybe I'll give the kofta kabob a shot?" I thought. So I ordered that. Only to discover that they will slice the already thin kabob in half to split between the burritos. "Maybe lamb and kofta kabobs are expensive, so that's why they're being so tight-fisted?" So I decided to give the Gyro Burrito a shot. Nope. Still as tight-fisted. "Maybe I need to try the regular Gyro Sandwich instead of the burrito? There's no rice in that." Meh. Still stingy. Gyro meat isn't that expensive, you Cous Cous guys. Stop being so parsimonious. Also, their gyro meat has an old and almost crunchy quality with how dried out it is (check some of the pictures and you'll see what I'm talking about). The price is relatively cheap, so I guess there's some solace in that you're not paying a lot for your rice burrito. But even at around $6, it's still... a rice burrito... The last three times have left me feeling kinda burned, and I'm probably going to be staying away for a while. I used to recommend this place for lunch all the time. Now I never mention it, because the last few visits have left my lunch mates largely disappointed (and me mildly embarrassed) with my choice. I'm a little sad to know (when looking at old reviews and such) that my love affair with Cous Cous Cafe has come to an end. Thankfully I'm still getting my money's worth at Mediterranean Imports, Gyros By Ali, and Gyro City Cafe. And just like that, my sad feelings are gone. read more

*update* Every time I've been here since my first time has been really great. I love the gyro sammie, the chicken wings are better than ANY place around here, the soups are great, salads, rice, kabobs, everything is great... I eat here all the time now. The staff is very nice, and I'm happy to give this local place my bizznass* First time here, almost stopped here several times and finally did. So, I had the lamb breast skewers with rice and the salad. Portion wise for the $$ ($11.11) was just right. The rice was great, salad was good. The lamb was pretty good too; however, I'm not sure how crazy I am about lamb breast compared to other cuts. It was ok but kind of a weird texture, a little chewy on some bites. It could have used some more seasoning also, not a bad taste at all, just a little bland. The sriracha sauce on the table gave it some kick, but a sauce special for the lamb would be better. Service wise... The server took my order and delivered my food, but never checked on me after, which really irks me. Also, I wasn't sure if she was ever going to bring my bill, and eventually saw someone else just go to the counter. It'd be nice to tell us that's the protocol since you have a server and that's uncommon. Also, I went to the counter when I first walked in because I thought maybe you order at the counter, and she told me to pick a seat. They could use a sign to tell you to seat yourself. Just nitpicking, but hey. I would give it 3.5 stars but no half stars available (kind of a big deal Yelp!!), so instead of rounding down I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, especially since it was my only visit so far... we'll give them another shot down the road. read more

Let me start by saying I hadn't heard of this place or even the food. But of course I like to try a lot of things once in life. Walking into the place i was a bit skeptical. It was quiet. We sit ourselves. Lot was very dim. After sitting ourselves we waited about 5 mins before our waiter greeted us. To some people 5 mins is a quite a while especially for a new customer. After getting our drinks another waiter comes and asks us if where ready and i always get my waiters with the question of "What do you think it's best on the menu?" And usually i go for it. And that's what i did. The lamb was delicious. The Jasmine rice had a different taste but different is good. Not sure shoot the salad. It was very very small with more tomatoes than lettuce. When the weather is dreary and cold, there's nothing like getting some Moroccan hot tea and plate full of lamb tajine! It was a while since we had been back to Cous Cous Cafe and things had changed. The expanded the dining room and now they have plenty of seating available. We started of with the Mint hot tea and we ordered it sweet. It was so refreshing. They have an unsweetened option as well. We ordered some hummus as well. The hummus was ok but not great. Something that would have made it better would have been warmed up pita instead of it being room temperature. And for the main course, we ordered the Lamb Tajine. Its a lamb shank served with rice and this awesome mixture of sautéed onions and raisins. We ended the meal with some of their baklava and I would say that they have the best baklava in the city. And having lives in the Middle East for many years, trust me... I know my baklava. read more

The beef was sparse, just a few small chunks. The big disappointment was the tiramisu. It is made with large amounts of mascarpone cream, coffee and cocoa powder and cake layers. I eat here pretty regularly. It's not too far from my work so I usually order and pick it up. Everything I have tried has been absolutely delicious. I have had the cous cous salad numerous times, I have had the almond cake, the vegetarian tagine just to name a few. The food here is absolutely wonderful. If you love Moroccan food you will love Cous Cous Café. Give them a try whether you are a local or visiting OKC. The almond cake is wonderful because it's light and not super sweet! Above and beyond. Placed a catering order for my daughters birthday, and everything was top notch. Ordered the wings (cooked to perfection as the meat was falling off the bone, and best of all they weren't fried), gyro sandwiches were tasty and had them cut in half, as well as chicken kabob sandwiches which were a hit as well. Each half sandwich was individually wrapped, and easy to eat as it was placed perfectly. Don't forget the Moroccan salad, very fresh ingredients and the dressing was just the right amount of touch for the already delectable salad. Overall the catering experience was way more than I expected, and the staff/management were very courteous and professional the whole time.
