Various candy

Who doesn't walk into a candy store and daydream about eating everything in sight? Cousin's Candy Shop in Old Town San Diego will definitely trigger those thoughts. This is one of the smaller candy shops I have been in, but they make good use of every square inch. There was not a line to get in, but it was very crowded inside. The shop also perfectly fits into the feel of Old Town. In addition to having a huge selection of classic candies, their fudge is homemade with over two dozen different flavors. Some of the flavors that caught my eye were amaretto chocolate swirl, huckleberry chocolate swirl, mint chocolate swirl, smores, and orange cream. They also have divinity which I don't think I've had since I was a kid from one of the candy shops at Disneyland. The locally made San Diego branded chocolate bars also caught my eye with flavors such as jalapeno, applewood bacon, smores, and whiskey. A good portion of the shop is a small kitchen, and they mix up and pull saltwater taffy while visitors watch from either inside or from right outside the front window. The day's flavors were huckleberry, molasses, watermelon, chocolate, peanut butter, banana, cinnamon, and black licorice. We managed to leave with only a few goodies, but the urge to leave with a truckload of deliciousness was very strong. This is definitely a great little shop to visit.

I've come to this candy shop so many times that I've visited pod town and almost never bought anything. A lot of stuff is really over priced and the service is sort of strange. It's just one of those little gimmick stores they have here in old town, they do make fresh salt water taffy as you enter the front door. This place is really little and can get extremely packed as well.

I love that they dress in character and there are so many varieties of old and new candy. I could have gotten one of each out of the chocolate cabinet. Around the shop there were several scoopers where you could dive in and help yourself to some really tasty treats. I thought the prices were very reasonable and I loved the blast from the past. I will definitely stop by!

Homemade honeycomb candy....what more can I say either than it's even covered in milk or dark chocolate! Talk about a treat of silky chocolate poured over a toffee crisp texture that melts in your mouth. Wow! How can you beat the enjoyable smells inside a candy shop plus have friendly, courteous service. I'll be back!

Really busy... always a line... to get in and to check out.... and if you can't find what your looking for in sweets then you are having a real issue..... Fudge... taffy... penny candy... a variety of everything you can think of.... It's fun to watch them make the taffy... Staff is friendly and they work hard to get you checked out...

This is an old fashion candy shop in Old Town San Diego. There is a wide variety of packaged candies and bulk candies sold by the ounce. Very friendly and helpful staff -- we were looking for a specific candy, asked one of the staff, and she found it for us. I also picked up some clove candy sticks, which I haven't seen since I was a kid.

They have a great variety to choose from, whether you're into milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or even non dairy options. I also love that they offer chocolate drinks and coffee, so it's easy to turn a quick stop into a little treat moment. I tried the peanut butter dates and they were so good. Smooth, rich, and just the right size when you want something sweet without going overboard. I also had a dark chocolate truffle and that one was just as good. You can really taste the quality. Customer service was a highlight. The guy helping me was super personable, gave great suggestions for drinks, and was genuinely kind, which always makes the experience better. Honestly, I'm just happy I found a chocolate spot within walking distance. Definitely worth stopping by if you're craving something sweet but still want it to feel a little elevated.

I sampled chocolate from Peru, Madagascar, and Kenya, and they all had unique fruity characteristics. Because they're vegan, so they use oat milk for their chocolate instead of dairy. My wife and I also wanted some drinks while we were here. I had a hot chocolate. My wife had hers with espresso shots. Good espresso in pure chocolate will never not be good. They are family owned and they only add chocolate, sugar, and oat milk to make their bars. Overall, this was a fun place to check out at Little Italy, and they also had a stall at the Farmer's Market.
