My family was excited to attend a signing event at IT'SUGAR during San Diego Comic-Con, especially after spending over $400 in the store. Unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by the way Kyle treated me. I was there with my 5 yr old and 8 yr old children and it was upsetting that this interaction happened in front of them. I was waiting for the signing and needed directions about where to go and what to do. Instead of providing clear guidance, Kyle gave me multiple different directions and was r, which left me confused and stressed about missing the event. When I asked for clarification, his tone came across as rude and dismissive rather than helpful. What made the experience even more disappointing was that he was noticeably kind and friendly to my husband but his attitude toward me felt completely different towards me. As a customer, I expected to be treated with the same level of courtesy and respect no matter what gender. Comic-Con is already a hectic environment, and customers rely on staff to help make these special events enjoyable. Instead, this interaction added unnecessary frustration and took away from what should have been a fun family memory. After spending more than $400 and looking forward to the signing, I left feeling disappointed by the customer service. After the confusion, I spoke with the actor and got my figure signed. They acknowledged that things were confusing and said something along the lines of, "Sorry for the confusion," and explained that things were a bit weird with how everything was being handled. Their kindness and willingness to explain stood in stark contrast to the experience I had with Kyle. Although thats not the interaction I was hoping for with the actress. I would have preferred a joyful meet and greet autograph as opposed to an awkward apology from the actress, who was lovely. I hope management addresses this so future customers are treated consistently and respectfully, especially when families with young children are involved. read more

It'Sugar is a fun spot to wander into when you're walking around after or before dinner and looking to kill some time which is exactly what we did. It was nice that it stayed open late, and the store itself is super bright and clean, with that kind of organized chaos vibe you'd expect from a candy shop packed with color and variety. That said, I was a little underwhelmed by the candy-by-the-pound section. I was hoping for a bigger selection like other candy stores, but most of what they offer leans more toward packaged novelty and gag gifts. Still, there were some fun finds, including a small Harry Potter section which was a cool surprise. Service was chill and hands-off, which was fine since we were just browsing. Thursday trip was one o0f the best and yet the day was the start of the Comic Cone the many stores and the restaurant were in full swing with the many businesses were in full swing with the many people that were there in the Gaslamp and the Its Sugar Store was the busiest on the block with the many shoppers looking for the many new flavors and candy. With the Its Sugar store the location of the Gaslamp is more of the tst store with the many flavors that you may see of the gummies and the caramels and the hard candy they have. There are some there that have dates of history that were the first candy that had been around since the wild west days. The many colors of the store make like you have walked into an Austin Powers movie with the great colors and the creative designs of the box it was the many great scenes of the of Charlie and the Choclate Factory color and the many great candies at the store. The older one that may remember the pop rocks and the black licorice and the creamiest candies of the old-fashioned caramels that lasted for hours and yet the flavor lasted for many hours. The store Its Sugar prides itself on the many houser product that of the many that are of the Boston Baked Beans and the Sweet-Sour Gummy Worms. With the many types of cand they have are some of the bests in gummy worms and the famous Sweetish Fish for the many that are still guessing the candy that was around since the early 1900s is the rock candy suckers that a kid could buy for very little. The many retail Items they have of the stuffed animals and the pillows that like candy bags and the ever-popular boxes of cereal that are of candy gummy worms and the red hots. Its Sugar is one of the greatest magical candy stores with the many candy soda's they also do carry the American Coca Cola in the red and white can. Many of the best candies they are the sweet and sour and the chocolates they have some of the best in in chocolate caramels and the ever-popular peanut butter filled candy. Customer service at the Its Sugar is one of the best and the store is always busy and the many great combos you can make are some of the bests with the oversized chocolate covered Oreos and the thick junior Mints. If you have come to the Its Sugar is one place that you can have so many memories of seeing the many great candies from the smallest to the large Jaw Breakers for the ones that like something that lasts over a week. read more

This place was pretty whacky. It was crazy bright colors, overwhelmingly loud music and enough sugar to knock out an entire schools worth of children. I have celiac, and each candy was labeled with ingredients and what contained wheat so it was actually easy to find gluten free items. I also asked for clean tongs so I didn't grab ones that may have had cross contamination. All the candy was really tasty. This place is spendy, don't expect to drop less than $30 on a small to moderate haul. But it is an experience. I definitely satisfied that sweet tooth craving and then some. Bottom Line: Prepackaged candy, bulk candy and novelties. Surprisingly, I enjoyed browsing in this store! They have cereal size boxes of prepackaged candy that are 2 for $20. The boxes aren't full and we are not talking high end truffles, but still, that feels like a good deal. They also have bulk candy too including my beloved Jelly Bellys. Finally, they have novelties like candy underwear and other things that are tucked in the back corner. Hopefully the kids never get that far! read more

Overpriced, but seriously, which hip candy shop isn't? At least there's LOADS of good stuff in this one, and lots of non-candy novelty items to lust after (or purchase). Beautifully lit store and nicely displayed items. My main gripe is not being able to be sure the little scoops for the by-the-pound candy aren't all over the place, and risky for those with nut allergies, as they were being used in the nut candy bins. Man, I walked outta this place buying nothing but feeling like diabeetus. It's much like Sugar Factory but more touristy and with a lot of variety and some gag gifts tossed into the mix (magnets, tshirts, etc). The bulk candy goes for some $6.98 for 1/2 pound and $13.96 for a full pound. Or you can fill a box for $14.99 but really why? (Hashtag cavities, hashtag diabetes.) You'll find all sorts of gummies, novelty candy, chocolate and even cereal and lots of old fashioned candy too. There's a whole section with imported candy from Japan, the U.K. and the like. Cute store, but rather overpriced. Definitely more of a tourist stop than a store for regulars. Not for children, or the faint of heart... This is the new downtown San Diego outpost of the famous candy shop in Las Vegas. When you first walk in to this rainbow-colored store, there are lots of family friendly items, like gummy everything in bulk bins (even gummy bacon and eggs!) a whole Easter Peeps section (currently 30% off including plush toys) and lots of colorful candies. As soon as you get to the middle of the store, there are a lot of adult items: candy underwear, giant rainbow lollipop hoo-haws, and a whole display of Saturday Night Live novelties, including the famous d*ck in a box. But there are also lots of fun gag gifts: like a $20 giant gummy bear that you would probably never eat. And a $13 torso-sized box of Pop Rocks that you probably COULD eat and have a lot of fun with. Props to having a whole British section on candies, in case you want a Crunchie or Flake bar. They have my favorite Mars bars, but upon close inspection I noticed they were imported from Ireland, not Slough UK, so I think they may be slightly different than the truly authentic English variety. I suspect though it's still better than going to Cost Plus World Market, which gets Mars Bars from Poland. They are open until 11pm so it's fun to check out after a dinner in the Gaslamp. read more

I was visiting San Diego and was staying in the Gaslamp District. Across the street from the Pendry, which I was staying at is IT'SUGAR and I decided to check it out. I came in and was greeted by all sorts of types of candies including Cadbury eggs, gummies, Hershey's Kisses and hard candy! Other than the candy they also had socks and some little games. They had some interesting candies as well including Japanese Candy. I also thought it was funny that they had Donald Trump gummies. Finally, they had some old fashioned style candy including Necco wafers, Gold Rush Bubble Gum and candy cigars. I was also at the store around Easter so they had an entire display with Peeps, Cadbury Eggs and other Easter candies. While wandering around downtown, we found this place I know that I have to check it out! It is an amazing candy store!!!! Everything looks so delicious!! The interior of the store is in bright color, everything is clean, tidy, well-organized and neat. The variety of gummy is huge!!! So many flavors, like cola, orange, rasberry, green apple, etc... the selection for chocolate is also wonderful!! I have to get a full bag of dark chocolate almond!!! Super delicious and tasty!!! They also have Pusheen cat items, some drinking games, some onesize baby clothes, fun and sassy quote magnet, and also some underwear made from candy. However, the store was almost empty when I walked in and the attendant did not acknowledge me and ask if she could help me. Also, frankly, the prices are outrageous for most of the popular candy you can get much cheaper at discount stores and drug stores. The candy is a bit old. And I mean the ones they have in containers that you can buy by the pound. I admit it is nice to have a candy shop, but the quality has fallen. I remember coming here 2 years ago and there was a much better selection. A lot of their Milka and Cadbury chocolates are gone. They've been replaced by Japanese chocolate. I mean that's nice and all, and popping cooking is fun, but there. Just a lot of empty space on the shelves right now in those sections. They're not utilizing their space to the fullest. I came to find particular chocolates, and came back a bit disappointed. It's on the expensive side too, but I don't blame the store too much. You're in downtown. This is expected. The large boxes of candy you can get that look like cereal boxes has also decreased in variety. However they do have fun novelty items like plusheen plush cats in the store, so it's not all bad. Loving it here! This is a great place for gifts for that original personality that has everything. I love it for the novelty items. They have Clueless merch as well as SNL stuff which can be hard to find in stores. I'm not much of a candy person but I imagine I would be in heaven if I was. A box of Nerds the size of my torso? Sign me up. They have a very good magnet selection with witty little sayings and cartoons. I always purchase at least one every time I go. My purchases here have ranged from a Breakfast at Tiffany's mug to a zipper pouch that looks like an evidence bag. I mean come on!!! Prices are moderate. Also a good place to take your out of town relatives who have probably never seen anything like it. Small, but adequate, they've got my vote. It's a fun store for the whole family.
