We read all the fine print so we knew what to expect when it came to appointments and associated fees. We had a dedicated young lady who helped my indecisive daughter find the perfect HOCO dress. Pickup was a breeze, as was drop off! The dress was altered PERFECTLY and no issues at all with condition. We purchased the 5 for $100 special and were very pleased with our first of 5 rentals! So I deducted a star only for location since I live in the Medical Center. I love the idea of renting a gown for an event for $100 instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a gown only for it to sit in your closet. An added plus is that you can alterations and accessories all in the same place. They even have shoes that you can rent for the occasion. On both occasions I was promptly greeted and was assisted with finding the perfect gowns for Mardi Gras balls. Now keep in mind that these are rentals and these gowns have been worn before so expect some wear and tear. Another thing I noticed was the hem on one of my gowns wasn't that great. If I could give this less than 1 star, I would. I downloaded this app for this purpose only... to warn girls like me. I am not plus sizes, I can fit into a size 10 pants. But this store... left my confidence crumpled. You walk in to these beautiful dresses that are all size 0-4. I loved so many dresses but MAYBE found 4 dress out of the HUNDREDS of dress that could actually fit. I had to shut the door and start crying in the dressing room because my confidence was so shattered. A word to this bias establishment: Get sizes for people that aren't just skinny. Maybe try hiring a mix of girls that aren't all sticks so that girls that are like me can go in there and feel accepted and welcome. Because that's the opposite of how I felt. (I've also noticed how you reply to bad reviews about bad dresses or costumer service, but never about your skinny people preferences. Weird.) read more

I love Rent the Runway but am always weary about not being able to try the dresses on. Then I found New for the Night which closed after only a couple of visits. I was thrilled to find Couture House. My first appointment was last week and I was looking for a maid of honor dress. I went to their second location off Durham and what a beautiful place...very chic. The lady pulled a number of dresses to try on, then told us about prices and services. I was over the moon when she told us that not only could dresses be altered but their seamstress could make any dress, even based on pictures and then rented! What?! This was our first stop in dress shopping and I did find one I really liked but we thought we'd continue shopping elsewhere to not be hasty. The lady working there later contacted the bride to let her know that she pulled more dresses from the Woodlands location so we went back today. Again, very friendly and attentive but not smothering at all. She let us do our thing which I can't say of all dress places (and I've been to many because I'm getting married soon too). We ended up loving two dresses - the top half of one and the bottom of another - we were told no problem...she'd have the seamstress cut the dress apart and make the perfect dress. Have you heard of anything more amazing? Anything we wanted to do, she said it could be done. So we got really creative and explained what we wanted done to a dress. She made an appointment for us to meet the seamstress and sent our request over. She's having the dress sent to the other location and after the appointment it will only be a few weeks. I cannot rave about this place enough. The entire experience was so wonderful and I'm incredibly excited about being able to take a great dress and changing it up to tailor it to make it perfect for me. On top of all of this, it is completely a reasonable price and even cheaper than some of the dresses I've gotten from RTR. Courture House has risen to the top of my list for places to find the perfect dress. The ability to adapt and create dresses makes them stand apart above all others. Absolutely amazing!! Update - I had a great experience as written above and gave five stars. It went down to two because I had my dress custom made. The dress was horribly made. The front had a straight cut at the chest and it was actually lopsided. I pointed it out to the seamstress but she never did anything about it. The was a random pin poking out of the body where the strap was sewn in that kept poking me throughout the night. Lastly, we added straps at the final dress fitting and she literally just threw them in with a single stitch. It was work I could have done. She didn't even cut the excess material on the strap. I was very disappointed with the final product. When I turned in my dress I let them know about all of this and I didn't even receive a courtesy call. It will take a lot to get me to ever try that process again. read more

I had to write a review because I almost didn't take my daughter here due to so many negative reviews. Here is our experience: WONDERFUL! We were greeted immediately and were allowed to browse since we were 30 minutes early for our appointment. They allowed us in a room as soon as one was available and we were assisted by Joubaier- an ATTENTIVE and INTUITIVE assistant. My daughter initially selected some dresses that were too small for her and Joubaier took a look at her, and brought us some dresses that we ignored on our first pass around. What we ended up renting was not what we went in for- and my daughter is going to look fabulous at her event in March. Joubaier lent his opinion, did some on-the-spot- quick dress modifications and made this process painless. My daughter is short, wears a prosthetic leg and is plus sized (18). We had PLENTY of gowns from which to choose. Although the one my daughter selected is not what she went in for, it's the one that looks STUNNING on her and we never would have even tried it without Joubaier. Yes, there are tons of dresses in teeny-tiny sizes, and, no, they are not the same styles as the ones in 18-24, BUT THAT'S OK! Let the professionals show you what will look good on your body type. Celebrate what you have, ladies! Ask for Joubaier- he will help you find a dress that makes you look like a QUEEN! We bought a package of rentals for senior year, so we will be back! read more

Poor parking & sign is small, hard to find. I called while trying to find it, & they did not answer the phone. We made the appointment, filled out size/preferences online. Since you are only given an hour AND you have to PAY for the appt. I expected some dresses already pulled waiting for us. NO. Not. The. Case at all. Once we arrived on time we were kept waiting b/c another customer was keeping the lady @ the front busy, then we were asked to fill out the preference card again. Our stylist showed us where the dresses were, but we had to shop & pull our own during our hour. They will help you getting other sizes or put dresses in the room for you. No help choosing a style right for my daughter. We were disappointed in their limited # of sizes in a 10 & variety. My daughter rushed through trying on 7 dresses. We hoped the "for purchase" dresses would be a larger selection, it is not. At the end of your hour there is no time to decide on a dress. You feel a bit pressured because they do not hold for any reason. We left empty handed. I would not recommend wasting time here. read more

If I could give this place a negative 5 stars I would!!!! Poor location, difficult to find, limited parking, poor selection and limited number of dresses. It's ridiculous. Plus, you feel like your settling on something. A lot of the are over worn and missing beading. When my daughter picked up the dress they did not tell her that it was due the next day. She turned it in the following day and was charged a $100 late fee. Because, it was in small print attached to the garment bag. Save your money and just buy your dress. For their price you can get a very nice dress. Will never return to this place and they can be sure I'll tell my friends about their poor customer service policies. Rude!!! Dressing room assistance was very rude when trying on dresses. Customers are told the dresses are checked for flaws and you are told you are responsible for excessive damage/pay for repairs. We did not have alterations to the dress we tried on. However I was told the alterations shop looks over dresses before they are rented to make sure they are in wearable condition. When we picked up the dress, the sales rep unzipped the bag, looked the dress over and I said we did not have any alterations and asked If we need to try it on again. She said no. Fortunately, I looked the dress over the day before she wore it. The clasps in the back were barely attached and needed reinforcement. They hung from the spot they were supposed to be placed by a noticeable half inch. The tule inside had to be tacked back together. It was ripped so that when my daughter took a step her front foot would get caught in it. So glad I noticed. She would have fallen in it no doubt. I returned the dress and waited to speak with a sales person. The manager was on the phone and never once made eye contact, said he would be with me when the call ended etc. I pointed out where I had made the repairs and said she will want to let her alterations staff know these things were missed. She told me I was responsible for looking the dress over. That it is clear in the paperwork I had. Not only was she oblivious that her response was unprofessional she spoke to me in a condescending tone. Instead of saying she appreciated the repairs and would let them know and we all move on, I was told how it was my fault they did not do their job properly. I was annoyed enough to spend 15 minutes writing this and to make sure others knew about it. I will never go back and I will gladly share why with anyone and everyone I can. read more

I scheduled an appointment a month before my boyfriends prom and then I received a phone call the day of my appointment saying that they could not rent out any more prom dresses for the weekend of my boyfriends prom. I told them I understood and if I could just come and look at the dresses that were for purchase. When I went they didn't help me at all but the people renting were getting tons of help. My boyfriend had to zip up almost all of my dresses and when he couldn't I had to walk around looking for someone to help me. When I found someone I would ask for them to help me and they were very rude. I would not recommend this place if you are purchasing, you don't matter to them. Now if you are purchasing maybe. They also had very little for purchasing which I found weird cause you would make more off the ones for purchase but it is what it is. I don't recommend this place at all. read more

Poor online experience. I'm not local, so purchased rush shipping due to time crunch. The dress came imperfect, requiring repair that I obviously do not have time for--hence rush shipping. They offered to pay for the repair, which is polite, but I simply did not sign up for that last minute inconvenience. All I asked is that they allow me to return the defective dress for refund. They are unwilling to comply. I understand their typical return policy reasoning. However, there should be exception when a customer calls immediately to report damage/defect to their online purchase. I consider that poor quality control and poor customer service, and they will not receive any future business or recommendations from me. read more

I came here to find a prom dress, and I found the perfect one! The place is hard to find b/c the sign is so small, but I've been here before so it was easy this time. I got here 15 minutes before my appt time and they let me go ahead and start. I had my own stylist (Sydney) and she let me go look around and pick dresses that I wanted to try and she helped and looked for some too. She was very helpful and enthusiastic. The first dress that I tried on ended up being the one I wanted. There is a large variety of dresses to choose from. People leave reviews about not getting the service that they want, but they probably go really close to prom season, so it ends up being really busy. I recommend going here ASAP to get the most choices and best service. read more

You cannot shop based on what you like you have to shop based on your size . They are thin girl friendly in sizes 0-8 and everything after that you don't get much of a choice . I had an amazing experience with Couture House (CH) Rentals. From my initial consultation to the drop off process, my entire experience with CH Rentals was first class! I rented a dress from this boutique for a Gatsby-themed wedding and when I came in to try on dresses they had over five different, unique dress options for me to select from. The ladies who assisted me were so nice and gracious and even provided suggestions for accessories they had in store. I ended up finding a great dress and they altered it according to my size. My dress was available for pick up in a timely fashion and I was able to try it on again for any additional alterations. I felt incredible in my dress and received tons of compliments during the wedding. Wonderful personal help from the young ladies offering suggestions and recommendations. I am concerned that the tulle on the dress my daughter chose was very worn by staff assured me they repair everything and replace if needed! Space is cramped but your not really there to move around do I suppose it's okay. Suggestion , go months in advance because once a dress is booked for your date you are out of luck! read more

I am a second time customer! First time, no issues what-so-ever but my second time was very disappointing. When I showed up to pick up my dress not only was the dress dirty in several places but the alterations were poorly done. I had straps added and they were almost falling off. After showing the assistant the dirty spots on the dress and the straps... I waited to have new straps put on and for the dress to be cleaned. Once the dress was brought back to me the entire dress smelled like bleach and the stains were still very present...Though I was told "the dress was not that dirty" lol. Anyway, the assistant then offered to "shave off" some of the "fuzzys" that were now on the dress (due to them trying to scrub off the stain)... At this point, I asked if there was anything they could do for me. (Maybe a discount, or a new dress, or something) The assistant then told me that "it is in the contract" that the dresses "come as they are". So that means dirty? In the end, I was forced to leave with the dirty dress and hope no one notices. Best excuse the assistant gave me was "I bet you won't be able to see the stain in different lighting"- though clever is not exactly what I was looking for in regards to fixing the problem. I'm not usually a picky person but I was looking forward to wearing the dress.. Now I'm almost embarrassed use to do so. read more
