I've been using their service for years, but the repeated unprofessionalism has made me reach my last straw. I've stuck by them while waiting outside of the closed salon for up to an hour and a half while they were running late for a few appointments; I forgave them after selling me poor their quality hair (first and last time, it became extremely tangled very quickly and shedded a lot) enough to have them remove that weave and to pay them to reinstall better quality hair I purchased outside of the salon the next week; I almost gave up on them the time a young assistant damaged my hair; but today was the last straw: I've been trying to call for several days to have some questions answered before scheduling a (hopefully) at-home appointment in time for an upcoming press event and each time, the phone disconnects without giving me an opportunity to leave a voice mail. Finally today, someone actually answered the phone. The problem is it happened to be on Mother's Day and so I was told that I shouldn't be calling the salon on Mother's Day since it's a holiday and that she can't help me. I'm assuming salon calls go to a cell phone? I asked her if there was a way for me to leave a message on a voicemail and she said no. I understand not wanting to be interrupted on Mother's Day, but instead of not answering her phone (as she'd done since Thursday), she was incredibly rude. I like supporting small businesses, especially a small business run by a black woman who's trying to do better for herself after paying her debt to society, but today's call in addition to them perpetually showing up over an hour late to the salon, selling poor quality hair, and being generally unreachable means that they lost a few long time customers today. P.S. I don't think Tish, mentioned in my original review, has worked there for years. Chaka does do good weaves though and is a very nice lady. read more

If you read nothing else, just know that your hair cannot be in better hands than those of Tangela. Now, from the beginning...,I heard about Couture Weave Boutique from a coworker and contemplated getting a weave for quite some time but was always too afraid. On a whim, I decided to call and was immediately referred to Tangela. When Tangela got on the phone she was incredibly patient with me as I asked a litany of questions about how this process would go--after all, I had never gotten a weave before and had no idea what to expect. I wanted to know what the most natural looking length would be, how the weave would be installed, whether a closure was a good option for me, the difference between a full and partial weave, and where I should go to get excellent quality hair. She answered all of my questions and more. I made an appointment and eagerly awaited my hair transformation (sounds dramatic but you have no idea how amazing my hair looks). I arrived at the salon and Tangela was incredibly professional but also kind/approachable. As she did my hair, we chatted about life, hair, kids, and the like--she's very easy to talk to, which is a good thing when you're sitting in her chair for several hours. I decided to go with a 16 inch, body wave style with closure so that I would have no "leave out." The process took quite a long time because I have very thick, curly hair (I'm half African American and half white in case you were wondering) but Tangela was patient and didn't rush the process. I was really nervous about the end result, specifically, whether or not my hair would look natural and rest assured ....IT DOES! Given the amount of time I save in the morning, how good my hair looks, and how much my confidence has increased, I'd say that the cost is well worth it! I feel like I've finally met my "fit" (you know stylists are like the second most important relationship in your life....lol) and my search for that perfect person has ended. This shop is GREAT! Stylists arranged schedule to accommodate me for a Saturday morning appointment made last minute the day prior. I am very particular about how I like my weave laid and my stylist Chaka SLAYED!!! She listened to what I wanted and it turned out so nice. My braids were done securely but I'm very tender headed and felt no discomfort during the styling and scalp still feels good the day after. For someone who isn't from LA, finding someone who can do your hair is always a challenge, finding someone who can do it to satisfaction is another and I was so pleasantly pleased when Chaka finished my hair. She was so caring and attentive while doing my hair, making sure I was always comfortable and most importantly, working with my hair which is in the worst condition ever, she was able to do an AMAZING job and I love it. She's so cool to talk to and not only does she do weaves and wigs, she does natural hair care and styling which I was able to see from the client she finished before me. I use to come into The Weave Sence salon which was in the same location. Since then that salon went out of business and the new salon Couture Weave Boutique and is under brand new ownership. Can I just say Thank God! I went to the old salon just because it was in a convenient location. However, the was the service was mediocre and the old salon didn't have hot water for months. So getting my hair washed with cold water just did not make a great experience. Needless to say I didn't plan on coming back until I learned a brand new salon opened up in the same location. Couture Weave Boutique is amazing in so many ways. It's a full service salon and nail shop! They do extensions, cuts, color, and styling. Plus a cute little nail cottage in the front of the salon. My first time I went in for brainless sow-in extensions (micro link extensions) and it turned out great! The cost is $40 per a row and then $65 for styling. I got 3 rows and plus the style so I paid a total of $165. If you are a regular consumer for extensions you know that it's a great price! I made an appointment in advance, didn't have to wait, and I got in and out within a couple hours. My stylist is Tanglea. She is amazing and so sweet. She pays attention to detail and did a great job installing the extensions and straightening my hair. My hair texture is difficult to manage. I'm mixed with white and black so my hair is thick, course, and long. My hair came out perfect! My favorite thing about Tanglea is that she uses high end hair products but she also doesn't over do the hair spray (like some stylist do). I also felt comfortable and trusted her from day 1. Which is rare, Sometimes I'm so nervous at a salon with a new person I try to micromanage or I just sit there concerned about the outcome. But with Tanglea I know I'm in great hands. For nails, Sparkle is awesome! She does great gel manicures and pedicures. She has 8 years of experience and it shows! Very talented and great attention to detail. She is a great addition to the Couture Boutique team! Overall, couture is a great experience. It is a one stop shop. Where else can you go and get hair and nails done all in one location? I love to go in on a Saturday in desperate need of a make over and in a couple hours I walk out totally made up and ready for an evening event. When I found out the Couture Weave Boutique was a BRAND NEW salon with a new owner, I decided to give it a shot and I am BEYOND happy I did. Tangela was extremely nice and helpful as I asked questions regarding services and pricing. She set up an appointment for me. When I arrived, I was amazed by the location. It is on a very convenient area of Los Angeles that is easy to find and get to. The salon is adorable! It has a glam shabby chic feel with a positive vibe. Tangela greeted me and made me feel very comfortable ans welcome at the salon. Tangela did a full sew in weave for me with two bundles of hair. Let me just say, she is truly a beautiful and gifted person with a big heart for her clients. She truly cares about the experience of her clients from the salon decor to the quality of tools she uses. Tangela uses high end quality products while working with her clients which I was very thrilled about. My sew in was done quickly and the braids did not hurt at all. When Tangela finished my hair, I was shocked at how beautiful and FLAWLESS it looked. I have been getting extensions for over 10 years and this was one of the BEST sew ins I have ever gotten in my life. My hair blended effortlessly, the hair was cut beautifully to flow with my face and the tracks looked flat and not bumpy. I've had an interesting experience here in terms of purchasing hair. I would give 1 star but I can't deny that the frontal Tangela sold me is very good, and she did a great job bleaching the knots. If you need a frontal or knots bleached I definitely recommend this place, but DO NOT buy bundles here. I'm warning you. I can't speak on the actual services performed here because I've never had my hair done here. I've only purchased here. It seems that people either have a good experience or bad experience. They claim that bundles that are sold here are virgin and unprocessed, however that is a complete lie and I'm surprised that they haven't experienced fraudulent claims yet. Hair that comes with the "S" curl at the end is processed hair, and that's exactly what is sold here. I bought bundles from here once -- 20 inches - but when I went to get it installed it was MUCH shorter than any 20" hair I've ever gotten. Tangela measures the hair starting at 1" rather than 0" (I watched her do it) and she counts the little scraggly few pieces of hair at the bottom to be an inch. Any hair salesperson with any integrity would not do that and it's something I've never experienced aside from here. It's not good hair and it's not accurate to the length. Do not waste your money on bundles here. It's not even virgin hair as they claim. Tangela also has a MAJOR attitude problem and is very quick to fight and argue if a customer has a problem. Customer service is not their expertise. Long story short, they do have good frontals (it's a different vendor than who provides the bundles) and Tangela does a good job bleaching knots. I can't deny that. I would however try to avoid this place for bundles and try to have as limited contact with the owner as possible.... read more

DO NOT EVER MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AT THIS SHOP!!! I made an appointment with Chaka because it was my birthday weekend. I planned to get my hair weaved. I drove an hour to her shop for a 10:00 AM appointment. When I showed up the shop was closed. I called the number of the shop and a woman answered saying that Chaka was "trying to call me". I never received a call from her. She gave me Chaka's number. I tried calling the number but it wouldn't go through. Called the other woman back because the number she gave me didn't work. She connected me with Chaka through her phone. First Chaka stated that she was running late and wouldn't be able to make it then quickly changed her statement claiming that she was "sick". My guess is she was too lazy to wake up on time. She asked me if I wanted to reschedule and of course I said no. She is unprofessional and inconsiderate. She never called me and let me waste my time and gas money driving all the way to her shop knowing she wasn't going to show up. It ruined my entire birthday weekend! I had to set an appointment with another hairdresser for next week and moved my birthday celebration two weeks out. My sister lost money at her job because she took a day off from work for my birthday plans. DO NOT do business with these people! Best silk press ever!! My hair turned out looking soooo nice and shiny and it moved so well. Normally when I press my hair theres a lot of stiffness because of my damaged ends but somehow Tangela gave my hair new life, I never knew my hair could move so soft and flowy! And she did it so fast, as someone with a THICK head of hair it normally takes the stylists forever to press my hair but she moved quickly and confidently.
