IMPORTANT NOTE: This office requires an X-Ray before being seen, which was not covered by insurance (for me at least). It will be around 100ish dollars and whether Dr. Huang actually takes a look beforehand is doubtful. I came to Covina Dental Specialists for TMJ pain. I just wanted to get botox for it, but after I mentioned that I have a slight underbite, he started pushing me to do double jaw surgery. Though Dr. Huang seemed knowledgeable, he unfortunately somehow didn't understand why I was hesitant to do double jaw surgery, where both the upper and lower jaws are broken to fix a slight underbite. The price would be over $50,000 and I would have permanent metal screws in my jaws. I've done extensive research on double jaw surgery and the risks just outweigh any rewards I would get from getting it done. I told him this, and Dr. Huang did not understand. I felt like he might have scoffed at me for being wary of this procedure in that moment. I understand with his impressive credentials, there is cause for pride. However, even if I would like to do double jaw surgery, I would try to find a doctor that is honest with the risks of a procedure like that. Because, to me at least, it signals that the doctor may be someone that is more responsible than callous. read more

Highly knowledgeable and gentle staff. Excellent with insurance, and left no stone unturned. I was referred to this Doctor for a retreat of a failed root canal and a consult on my other tooth. I felt safer in his care than I had with the one who had previously worked on this tooth. This Doctor did testing that I have never before experienced before giving his opinion on if a tooth was a candidate for a root canal. He encouraged me to return to the referring provider and attempt to save my tooth rather than proceed prematurely with a root canal. I have severe fibromyalgia, high level anxiety, and am a non-neurotypical person. Typically it is a requirement that I am put under anesthesia or am placed on laughing gas, however it wasn't necessary despite the complexity of the work needing to be done. About a month ago I had tooth extraction from this office - my experience is over the top reeeaaallyyy good! I was nervous the first time and my BP just shoot up and it wont go down!
