Since December of last year, I've had some tooth sensitivity to hot and cold foods and drinks in my upper right jaw. Since I get regular cleanings and checkups on my teeth, I didn't think much of it until I started feeling some incredibly intense jaw pain all of a sudden early summer, and for a more than a couple of weeks, I relied on Advil, soft foods at room temperature, and late night video game binges to distract me from the immense discomfort I was going through. I was eventually referred to by my dentist to Valley Green Endodontics and boy am I glad he did. There appeared to be a hard to spot (even by x-ray) hairline crack in a tooth that was found only by removing the filling...and thus the root canal proceeded thereafter. Now, I gotta admit I am terrified of having any work done on my teeth due to - I get incredibly anxious feeling trapped in the chair with the sound of a drill going on. But I was lucky enough to get Dr. Chun, who is as kind and reassuring as she is really knowledgeable as well as super skilled and steady with her tools. She communicated well with me what would happen each step of the way and I felt absolutely no discomfort whatsoever throughout the entire process. Her assistant was also incredible as well. The rest of staff was incredibly nice and easy to talk to and I was happy that my pain - as well as any very mild swelling due to the root canal that happened - subsided pretty quickly. I do need to note although insurance covered a good portion of the root canal, it did not cover the Gentle Wave treatment, which I still thought was worth it for the more thorough cleaning. Experienced sudden pain and after a visit to my dentist it was confirmed that I needed to visit the endodontist. At 1 PM, I called Valley Green Endodontics with the hope that I could get a quick appointment. I was pleasantly surprised when they were able to fit me in that afternoon at 2:45! Honestly, I don't know what I would've done if they hadn't been able to because my pain was so severe. Upon arrival, they asked me to update paperwork and verified my insurance coverage. They provided me with a preliminary estimate for my cost. Everyone was masked. They had clearly marked seating available and provided clean ink pens. Oh and walking into the building there was the most delightful koi pond... I wish I'd taken photos. I was taken back for X-rays which confirmed the diagnosis. That's when I met Dr. Chu. He explained what was wrong and was awesome! He was able to numb me (which couldn't have been easy given the amount of infection). They have a new machine called "Gentle Wave" which should help reduce the need for further treatment on that tooth in the future. Honestly, the procedure start to finish was 100% pain free! He did warn that I'd have pain for a few days due to the infection. Shout out to the assistant who was warm and kind, and very proficient. Because he recommended it, I am following up with my primary care to get a referral to an ENT to double check on the sinuses which were also infected. After completion, I paid my copay and headed home. I want to add that I drive from Irvine 30 minutes without traffic, 40 minutes with traffic) to this office because: 1. They do not perform unnecessary procedures. If you don't need it they don't do it. 2. They are honest and their prices are reasonable. They are up front with the costs. 3. They took excellent care of me ... last minute when they did g have to because they knew I needed it. 4. They provide my primary dentist with a follow up letter and documentation about exactly what was done. read more

I'm so grateful that I was referred to Dr. Howard Liang! I was referred to him by my dentist after experiencing a lot of nerve pain underneath my crown. I had to endure through the weekend and make an appointment the following Monday, and thankfully, Dr. Liang had an opening at 2pm the same day. While I was waiting for my appointment to come around, I got a call from Regina from their front desk asking if I would be able to come earlier due to a cancellation and I happily accepted! I drove over there and was the only patient in their clinic. Their clinic was so clean with state-of-the-art equipment. Myra, the dental assistant, led me in and took some CT scans and then I met with Dr. Liang. He was so clear and thorough while explaining my diagnosis and was very kind and reassuring -- I already felt that I was in good hands. Unfortunately, I did not have dental insurance so it had to be out of pocket, but I was willing to do whatever I could to fix this pain. Since Dr. Liang is a root canal specialist, I had confidence that he could fix it for me. I had an infection under my crown in the root canal that needed to be cleaned out. So it was about a 2-hour procedure and throughout the procedure, Dr. Liang was very thorough and attentive, and him and Myra would frequently ask how I was doing and if I was okay. I really appreciated that as it put me at ease. After it was complete, Dr. Liang assured me that he got out all the infection and that after some antibiotics and pain meds, I should be back to normal! This was music to my ears and I was just so happy to have this behind me as the pain was excruciating over the weekend. I have been to Valley Green Endodontics a few times for consultations, one of which was several years ago. The entire team, including the front desk, x-ray technicians, and dental assistants, are very friendly and professional. Their equipment is definitely state-of-the-art. I chose to get 3-D imaging at an additional cost and it was well worth it. I saw Dr. Liang and Dr. Lu on separate occasions. They are specialists in every sense of the word! I'm amazed at how they can interpret the x-ray images, even being able to tell that I had a recent infection that had been resolved and, on my first visit, had reviewed the quality of work done years ago to see if there were any issues. Both doctors were patient and took the time to listen to my dental history and ask relevant questions to figure out what was going on with my tooth. One visit was after a root canal done elsewhere and the other after a significant adjustment to that tooth (I wanted to be sure the integrity of the tooth remained). I could tell they genuinely wanted to help me find an answer to why I was still having discomfort with that tooth. Although they were thorough, at this point it was determined that there was nothing endodontic that needed to be treated. I suspected that was going to be the case but I wanted to rule out as much as possible before seeing a prosthodontist. My friend who is a dentist recommended that I come here for a root canal. This was my first root canal and she said that I shouldn't go to just anyone for one. Dr. Chu, the one that worked on me, specializes in root canals and it is literally all he does. Since I had been experiencing hot/cold sensitivity which caused a lot of pain, I was delighted that this place could squeeze me in the following Monday, and they took my insurance! I came in and the receptionist quickly signed me in. I was invited back, x-rays were taken and Dr. Chu determined I would need a root canal after all. He explained to me what the procedure would entail and thoroughly answered all my questions. Honestly, I was expecting a lot worse the way everyone always talks about root canals the same way as they talk about paying taxes, but he was in and out and it wasn't bad at all. Obviously I couldn't see what he was doing but you can tell when someone is extremely skilled in what they do. Post operation: I had no pain and didn't even need to take anything after the numbness went away. So I was referred here through my private/general dentist because I needed a root canal (because hefty/careless ole me chipped my tooth while eating a green mussel... ugh). Anyways, Lydia (the lady at the front desk) was able to work with me to schedule an appointment along with all the nitty gritty stuff from the dental insurance. She was so patient, kind, and understanding throughout my journey. I seriously wish all professionals that worked in the front desk were just like her! Okay, moving onto the better parts of the review... The environment was clean and peaceful. It was definitely relaxing. Parking is easy breezy with a private lot. Service: O-M-G. Absolutely fantastic. Being in the healthcare field, I (should) know exactly what is superb customer service.... and trust me, Dr. Liang and his staff delivers that! Lydia in the front was extremely approachable (and even called me the day after as a follow-up on my root canal). The dental assistants were honest, gentle, and friendly throughout the whole procedure. Lastly, Dr. Liang was so caring and answered all my questions/concerns. He was able to verbalize everything that he was doing and what to expect during my whole procedure. I felt safe and assured that I was in great hands. Due to complications with a crown placed one year prior, my tooth got infected. I felt like I had a bomb exploded in my face and a chunk of my skull was lit on fire. The pain was excruciating. This review is WAY overdue! I had the pleasure of going to Green Valley Endodontics for my two front teeth which both needed root canals. First off, the office staff is just so kind and welcoming. Every time I called, Mayra is so sweet and accommodating. When I arrived, all the staff make you feel valued and welcomed by making sure you are comfortable and at ease. Dr. Liang, like another reviewer said, is a Godsend! He really does make his patients feel safe because of his reassuring voice and knowledge of the procedure. The procedure was so smooth and felt almost effortless. In between my two root canal procedures, I had an accident with one of my front teeth where my crown came off! I felt haggard and was very self conscious because of it. My dentist told me I would probably need implants which would cost thousands and would take close to a year to finish the procedure. Then here comes, Dr, Liang to the rescue! I came in for my second root canal procedure and while I was there, he inspected every crevice of my tooth that came off and discovered it can be saved! If he didn't take the time to look carefully at my tooth, I would probably have to go the implant route. I am very thankful for Dr. Liang's care and his office staff who always makes everything reassuring. I hope you consider coming in. You will NOT be disappointed! I had put off a root canal that i knew i needed for a while. I prayed and prayed and started looking around for an endodontist, because i didn't want to go to the endodontist that i was referred to. Well, thanks to good old Yelp! I found Dr. Liang's office. First of all, the front office girl Mayra, as soon as you call, she greets you with a warm, friendly voice and immediately, you feel at home! Once i showed up for my appointment today at 9 a.m., i was greeted by her warm smile, then Norma came out and got me. Let me tell you, my anxiety level was very high, but once Norma greeted me, i was reassured that everything was going to be okay! Then, Dr. Liang comes in. All i can say, is that he is a Godsend. He was very patient, and i made him aware of my anxiety level, and he just assured me that he just wanted me to be comfortable. These words that he said made me feel at peace, he said "plenty of people have come in for the same thing, and they leave fine to go on with their day!" Those words comforted me so much. I had an amazing experience at Valley Green. I was initially referred by my general dentist to get a root canal done do to a tooth infection. I picked Valley Green Endodontics because I saw all the amazing yelp reviews, so I wanted to check it out for myself. It did live up to the hype. This has probably been one of my most pleasant dental experiences ever. I was nervous, but Dr. Liang guided me through the process and assured there would be no pain, and there wasn't. If anything it was almost therapeutic sitting in that chair getting my root canal done. A few x-rays here, get a numbing shot(very minimal pain), sit in the chair and receive the procedure, little less than an hour later i'm walking out the door 100% pain free. Dr. Chu is fantastic! Except for the small pinch of the initial anesthesia shot, I didn't feel any pain in my root canal. It took about an hour to complete. Amazing doctor and technology. I had an overdue root canal since my last dentist ripped me off. I was checking online for new technologies for root canal... and found the wave technology being more pleasant than the traditional procedure. Luckily, Valley Green is not too far from me, and I checked the outstanding reviews. Immediately, I called to verify with operator on the estimate with my insurance. The operator called me back within the hour, price was beyond reasonable. My appointment was within days. The young doctor was very professional. I was in and out a little over an hour... The whole procedure was painless. The most uncomfortable part of the entire procedure was to keep the mouth open... and that's it. Lydia, I hope I got her name right, was so unbelievably helpful, compassionate, and everything else you hope other folks to be. On my last visit I was having pain in two locations; tooth #30 & tooth #4. Dr. Liang did a thorough examination and came to the conclusion that tooth #40 did not need a root canal, but tooth #4 indeed did need endodontic treatment. The level to detail and care to patients is "above and beyond." Each staff member is courteous & professional. Scheduling as always been easy and treatments usually take less than 40 min. The whole staff makes the treatment as relaxing as it can be. One nice touch is that the patient chairs are modeled after "Bride" racing seats. The most comfortable dental chairs ever. read more
